• Scott and Fran's entire performance at the finals but particularly the moment after the music gets cut off and Scott's father starts a Slow Clap, which quickly spreads through the audience, giving them a beat to dance to.
• Scott's father finally growing a backbone for the film's climax, after spending much of the film being meek and being unable to stand for himself, by revealing Barry's lies to Scott, enabling him to go after Fran and persuade her to dance with him. Then when Barry cuts the music and tries to disqualify Scott and Fran, Doug does a Slow Clap which quickly spreads to the entire audience, giving them a beat to dance to. He's the very reason that the film has a happy ending.
• Before this, Les calling Barry out on his duplicity and Barry declaring that nothing will change the future of dance ball (i.e. Ken's dance style), only for Scott and Fran to make their dramatic entrance. And when Barry attempts to stop the dance, Les punches him in the face!
  Les: I wanna have a word with you.
  Barry: Aw, pull yourself together. It's not my fault the boy chickened out.
  Les: It wouldn't have made any difference anyway.
  Barry: Out the back.
  (Behind the curtain...)
  Les: I know what's going on. It doesn't matter what Scott dances out there today.
  Barry: You betrayed his father. What'd you expect?
  Les: But Doug wanted me to dance with Shirley! You told me that!
  Barry: It's easy to believe what you want to hear, isn't it?
  Les: You won't get away with this!
  Barry: Listen, you pathetic little fag! You hear that? That's the future of dance ball and no one, but no one's gonna change that! (opens the curtain only to see Scott and Fran making their big entrance.)
