After Stela and Tiago are faced with the possibility of Zico sending Stela to the U.S.A (namely to separate her from Tiago, actually to separate her from Risoleta) they decide to run away. And succeed.
Tiago steals a car from his farm and gets Stela. Firmino, who got tasked with always watching over Stela, could barely keep up with them.
The cars crash and the Vilar car gets totaled, Tiago dies instantly due to impact, but Stela saves him with her tears. They steal Firmino's car to keep running away. Eventually, they reach a secret location.
The fact that even with all of Zico's contacts (which includes Rio de Janeiro's governor, apparently) they couldn't be found.
At some point between Vitória's departure from Bole-Bole and the start of the novela, Tibério Vilar grew roots and became stuck on his armchair. Tiago, his grandson, found out his biggest love was Candinha Rosado, a woman who's the chief of their rival family. After Tiago and Stela, Candinha's great-granddaughter, promoted encounters between the two, Tibério, inspired by the recent escape made by their grandkids, decides to honor the promise he made to Candinha decades ago: that he'd go to her house and get her so they could run away together. He faces a great strain to rip away his roots, but eventually arrived at the Rosado's household. He and Candinha finally reunite, kiss, then promptly start to become a tree, entwined forever.
