  • The Independence of Brazil, in Chapter 143.
    • Not only this key moment in the history of Brazil becomes the conclusion of the chapter, it does so with more historical accuracy than expected from many Period Pieces. It's not 100% accurate, but it faithfully depicts some minor details that have been forgotten with time, such as the fact that D. Pedro wasn't mounting a horse when he shouted "Independence or Death", but actually a mule.
    • One major case of accurate research, however, is that Leopoldina's signing of the Declaration is treated as the act that definitively granted independence to Brazil. This is agreed to be the case by many historians, and the soap opera doesn't shy away from this: this historical event came by a woman's action! Pedro's role was agreed to be one more theatrical, dramatically proclaiming it by the Ipiranga Brook. However, this isn't made any less effective.
