Awesome / Major Grom: Plague Doctor

Go To

As a Moments subpage, all spoilers are unmarked. You have been warned.

  • While it causes a ton of collateral damage, the entire sequence with Grom foiling the theft of a bank truck is made of awesome. Grom chases down the stolen bank truck on foot (twice — he pauses in the middle to get a drink of water from a parked squad car) and surfs on top of the truck while being shot at through the roof. When he fails to get control of the stolen vehicle, he hijacks a dump truck and rams the bank truck from the side, flipping it on its roof and sliding it through the Palace Square.
  • While his methods are horrifying, the Plague Doctor's costume, flamethrower gauntlets, and general demeanor are undeniably awesome.
  • Yulia using a well-executed Wounded Gazelle Gambit to get inside Grom's apartment and obtain pictures of the Plague Doctor files. She dresses as a prostitute, and hires some thugs to pretend to loudly assault her outside Grom's apartment. When Grom comes to her rescue, she asks him for some tea; while he's preparing it, she takes pictures of the files, then leaves before Grom knows what's happened.
    • When Grom finds out what she's done, he breaks into her apartment, puts her laptop in the kitchen sink, and turns on the water.
    • When they next meet up at the casino grand opening, he makes sure to break her smart phone in half before they part ways, ensuring that she can't break the story of the Plague Doctor's followers crashing the event.
  • The film's climax, as the Plague Doctor and Igor Grom facing off in Vmeste's server rooms.
Razumovsky: Igor, the city wants me! I have the money, the technology, and the power. What do you have?
(He gets hit by a blast from a fire hose, sending him flying.)
Dubin: (wrangling firehose) He's got friends.
    • Ignat Booster and his crew showing up and taking on a bunch of the Plague Doctor's followers (who are targeting a kindly schwarma kiosk operator).
      Booster: HEY!
      [Thugs stop and look.]
Booster: What's with this uncool behavior? We don't allow hooliganism in our block! ATTACK!
      [Asskicking ensues.]
      • If you watch carefully before Ignat's crew shows up, the stray dog from earlier in the film (whom the kiosk operator told Grom not to feed, because he didn't want it hanging around) attacks the thugs while they're trying to tip over the kiosk, biting one of them on the arm.
      • The old man from the police station who had his wallet stolen (whom Grom repaid out of the office pool) helps pull people out of the rubble. He's later seen receiving a medal for his bravery.
  • Prokopenko clocking Strelkov in the face after he smugly talks about his "resignation" (while claiming that Grom and co are going to jail). You can tell by the faces of the other officers that they've been waiting for weeks for someone to punch the smug bastard.
