TEG 2 Chapter 3: The Prayer Warriors Have Always Been At War With The Roman Gods

Written By: Thomas
Proofread By: Ebony
POV: Third person

Ebony declares that anyone claiming to be God is lying, because "Only God is God." Thomas inadvertently suggests that Ebony's last comment is insulting before denying rumors of this threatening to commit suicide by saying "I will not be shooting myself with a gum at no point ever!" Ebony claims that Annabeth's suicide was intended to help the story tackle the serious issue of suicide, but we all know how well fanfics like this one treat such matters.

Jason sees a crying girl, but keeps his distance out of fear of upsetting her further, reading the Bible in the mean time. The girl is mourning Annabeth's death, and Jason falsely claims to have seen the horrible deed (a phrase more often used on murder than suicide).

The girl turns out to be Thalia, one of the last characters introduced in Part 1 who hasn't reappeared, and she falsely claims to have defeated the Evil Gods alongside Jerry (who, it should be pointed out, killed her for supposedly lying about converting). Jason, impressed by the tale of Percy killing his own father in the fanfic, asks for a first-hand account.

Thalia says yes, and decides to take the opportunity to tell the story (incidentally, the author not only spells Nazareth correctly, but actually implicitly owns up to his spelling mistakes).

Essentially, Thalia recaps the raid on the temple of Zeus, although there are some differences.

  1. The nameless girl who was being raped happens to be Rachel, although it isn't explained why she's there ahead of the rest of the Prayer Warriors.
  2. Thalia pleads with Percy to spare Rachel.
  3. Thalia, after disowning Zeus, stabs him In the Back, and gives the credit to Percy.

Jason thanks Thalia for telling the story from another point of view, then changes the subject to Annabeth. Thalia grieves for Annabeth's passing, and wants to ensure that no one else gets possessed like Grover was. A parenthetical note points out that Grover's having fun in Heaven, not mentioning that he'll be back on Earth before long. In spite of Jesus teaching her to Turn the Other Cheek, Thalia wants revenge.

Accompanied by Jason, Annabeth announces Thalia's death to the rest of the camp, and says that because Satan possessed her and made her do it, she's not responsible for her actions and will go to Heaven (which technically makes her death murder). She declares to all of them (possibly including the traitor) that the traitor has been among them for years, before even the fight against the evil Greek Gods.

She asks for their help, and Jason and Leo agree, at which point Thalia declares that they will go to Washington D.C. to search for information there. Piper and Luke stay behind to protect the camp, and Chiron gives them guidance. With a prayer, they set out.

Next Installment: The journey begins, and as they ponder the question of who betrayed them, they must deal with the first enemy.
