16: Chickens and Constellations

In preparation for his rematch with the chicken monster in the Green Ruins, Raguna purchases a handful of energy drinks from Lara, hoping this time that he doesn't actually have to use them. He stops by the library, where he sees Cinnamon reading some books. He can't exactly see which ones she's reading because Selphy's bookshelves are jam-packed, but still utterly disorganized. Cinnamon mentions that a "turnip" constellation can be seen in the sky early at night if one goes to the observatory. Raguna says almost exactly what I'm thinking ("Turnip constellation? That's...strange.")

Still no word yet on what Kanno's working on with that Hard Horn he asked for. Raguna turns his attention to Candy, who is outside with Marco again. He doesn't have any Rune Wonder requests for her this time, so he asks where all of the Runeys are concentrated. The map she shows him seems to indicate that there are a lot of Runeys in areas where it won't do them much good, save the Church and the Mountains (which are both plentiful with Tree Runeys).

Raguna feels that it's a good time to take Chit for another walk, and they head down to the Green Ruins together, jumping straight to the giant chicken monster's room via the dark portal near the entrance. Before he walks in, he readies his newly-crafted Flame Sabre and chows down on an Egg Bowl for a temporary strength boost.

Having remembered his last disastrous encounter with the beast, Raguna stays back and waits for the chicken to run towards him and do something stupid, leaving it open to a combined assault of spinning sword slashes and acorn bombardment. After three or four passes of this, Chit chucks another acorn at its head, and the beast goes down. Raguna doesn't spend much time celebrating, as he just picks up the scraps that the chicken left behind and leaves the place as quickly as possible.

At 1:00, he has plenty of time to do some more farm work while waiting for the Turnip constellation to reveal itself. It is during this waiting period where he learns that Erik, the town's seed salesman, hates turnips (crushing the hopes and dreams of Erik/Mist shippers everywhere...both of them).

At 6:30, he takes his daily trip to the bathhouse, and overhears a "developing" conversation between Candy and Cinnamon. Cinnamon keeps quiet about it, and tells Raguna of another constellation that is to appear later in the night sky...the more sensible-sounding "Serpent". He heads to the observatory point at the mountains and looks toward the sky, where he sees the Turnip constellation in all of its starry glory. At that moment, Raguna sees something fall from the sky and lands somewhere in his house. Judging by the tone of the music playing, it's probably not all that serious. It turns out that whatever it was that fell out of the sky spawned a half-dozen turnips inside Raguna's house. Naturally, Mist is there to check up on him, showing incredible restraint by not taking any of the turnips for herself. A return trip to the observatory later on yields a glimpse of the Serpent constellation, fortunately this time with no funky side effects.

How will Raguna's defeat of the giant chicken monster improve Trampoli's economy? What is Kanno doing in his lab after hours? Tune in next episode for answers to at least one of these questions!
