[[AC: Blue Dragon]]
* ClicheStorm: The whole point of the game, according to Website/TheOtherWiki, and [[WordOfGod the creators]], was to make a game that was a cliché of [[EasternRPG JRPGs]], specifically [[MedievalEuropeanFantasy Medieval European Fantasies.]] Although there was some criticism for this, there was about 100 times more praise.
* ComplacentGamingSyndrome:
** Regardless of starting builds, it's very common to see people power leveling Barrier Mage on Shu to get access to Field Barrier 3 early on, due to it making leveling up other classes practically effortless, and Shu being the only character who is present for every single major story beat.
** Given the CombatantCooldownSystem, agility ends up being the OneStatToRuleThemAll. As such, the Assassin class is the class most people will max out before handling any of the {{Superboss}}es, due to it's primary stat boost being agility.
* CreepyAwesome: The [[https://imgur.com/gallery/bx8qTGh Wandering Wraith]] enemy from the abandoned hospital would not look out of place on the cover of a heavy metal album.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Torippo, the gasmask-headed robot, who's a travelling Medal merchant and adventurer. He even had his own fanclub on Facebook called the Toripo Appreciation Society.
* GameBreaker:
** Leveling up the Field Barrier skill to its ultimate level, Field Barrier 3, makes it so that you don't have to dirty your hands on a single mob. This can be abused to gain SP for stronger skills and spells in a matter of minutes rather than 10 or 15 hours, but the tradeoff is that you don't gain any EXP.
** Once a party member gets the Attack Aura ability, the only times they won't destroy the entire encounter on the first blow will be when you're fighting a boss.
** Agility is the OneStatToRuleThemAll in this game, due to it [[CombatantCooldownSystem allowing characters to take more turns than the enemies in battle]]. As such, Assassin ends up being disproportionally powerful in relation to the other classes, due to it's main stat boost being agility. It ends up being practically a requirement against the {{Superboss}}es the game has to offer.
* NarmCharm:
** The main boss theme, ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWtpAzbEnc8 Eternity]]'', is generally agreed upon that it somehow manages to skim the line of being [[{{Narm}} utterly ridiculous]] and ''[[SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic utterly freaking awesome!]]''
** Thanks to the first game being a ClicheStorm, the entire game itself can qualify for some.
** The end credits song "You'll Never Find a Better Friend" by Giullano Pizzulo that plays in the English dub of the anime is short, but surprisingly catchy.
* PlayTheGameSkipTheStory: Granted, considering the game is an intentional ClicheStorm, this might have been the idea behind the developers. Pretty much everyone agrees that the game contains every JRPG cliché imaginable, but the fun, ''VideoGame/Persona2'' [[JustForFun/XMeetsY meets]] ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIII'' style gameplay easily makes up for it.
* PopularWithFurries: The Shadows are all anthropomorphic in design, with most of them [[HeroicBuild absolutely ripped]]. This brought them a lot of love from furries and {{bara|Genre}} fans alike.
[[AC: Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow]]
* NarmCharm: [[spoiler:Nene telling the player to OVERCOME IT]] sounds quite silly as a fully voiced line and even more so when the camera zooms in on him, but if anything it doesn't detract from the moment because it comes right before the moment where the final boss reveals themselves.
* ThatOneBoss:
** The Egg of Light is a tough boss to take down during the second encounter. It has Life Drain to steal large amounts HP away from you which may be potentially a OneHitKill attack, Shining to stun party members and Light of Judgement which deals heavy damage and inflicts Stun. Fortunately for the player, losing to this fight doesn't net you a Game Over and the fight with [[DualBoss Jyum & Ganda]] afterwards is [[BreatherBoss far easier.]]
* ThatOneAttack:
** [[spoiler:Destroy]] has Judgement Thunder, a powerful area of effect attack that is practically a litmus test of seeing if the player is actually ready to fight him. If you aren't at max level, the fight [[PressStartToGameOver tends to end]] before it begins. Even if you aren't dead on arrival, his Blow After Blow is a powerful attack that can potentially stunlock you to death while he regains HP.
** Nightmare, an energy attack used by [[spoiler: [[{{Superboss}} Arcane Dragon]]]] that deals heavy damage and inflicts ''multiple'' status effects if you're unfortunate enough to be hit by it.
