Long ago, the world was ruled by Proteus and his children, the Demi-Gods. But soon, a war between humanity and the gods changed that forever. Prince Galahanzer, a hero chosen to save the world, found himself drawn into the middle of the war and disappeared, never to be seen again.

Years later, Slade, a boy training to become a knight of the Kingdom of Ragan, encounters the sinister Shadar, the Malevolent Shadow feared all across the world for his cruelty. Shadar has been killing hundreds of people across the world for some mysterious purpose. Slade becomes determined to stop Shadar, but in the process discovers the truth of the ancient war and the state of the world itself. As he ventures through the world, the conflict between humanity and the divine resurfaces, and he most not only fight Shadar, but the corrupt Arch Duke Deimos, the Demi-Gods led by Apollo, and the now-insane Proteus.

!!This game provides examples of:
* AlasPoorVillain: While most foes met in the story can easily be considered [[JerkWithAHeartOfJerk irredeemable scum]], a good few actually are '''very tragic''' in [[spoiler: [[StartOfDarkness getting a good look at just how different they used to be]] before becoming what you face them as in the present time.]] [[spoiler: Arianna, for instance, [[UsedToBeASweetKid used to be]] [[NiceGirl so endearingly-sweet]] you couldn't even imagine just how [[YanDere calmly-psychotic]] she is when you encounter her, and it's all thanks to [[OurAngelsAreDifferent the bastardly-angels she was originally meant to watch over, only for them to fling cruel insults and ingratitude in her face]], having her excuse herself so that she silently mulls over if those she's protecting is even worth it. You can't help but feel sorry for her.]]
** The familiar spirits of Sarius that are Fianna and Alanna also count as they are only [[spoiler: [[MyMasterRightOrWrong obeying the will of Deimos, whom they view as impossible to escape from.]] Orion even [[DontMakeMeDestroyYou beseeches the poor water spirit Alanna from fighting him as he would kill her with ease.]] She doesn't listen though unfortunately and still proceeds to attack Orion and fails...]]
-->[[spoiler:'''Orion:''' Goodbye Alanna.]]
* ATasteOfPower: The game starts with you controlling Prince Galahanzer, who is Level 14 and has many powerful skills, including a particularly powerful one that insta-kills the first bosses. After twenty or so minutes, the story shifts several millennia in the future, and you gain control of the actual protagonist- Slade, a boy who is a mere Level 2.
* BigBadEnsemble: Shadar, Proteus, Deimos, and Apollo all seek to control the world as its god for their own purposes:
** [[GrimReaper Shadar the Malevolent Shadow]] is a wraith that is responsible for killing hundreds of people and seeks to become the god of the world in order to [[spoiler:[[WellIntentionedExtremist bring balance to the world]] and stop the tyranny of the gods]].
** [[GodIsEvil Proteus]] is the original god who, after being driven {{mad|God}} by [[spoiler:the betrayal of Apollo and Deimos]], seeks to [[OmnicidalManiac devour the entire world]].
** [[AristocratsAreEvil Arch Duke Deimos]] is the MadScientist current ruler of the human world who wants to eliminate all threats to his rule, and [[spoiler:is the Wheel of Reincarnation who created humanity and turned them against the other gods in the first place]].
** [[SatanicArchetype Apollo of the Absolute Will]] is the leader of the Demi-Gods who aims to KillAllHumans and establish a 'utopia' with him as the ruler of a new, perfect race.
* BlatantLies:
** At one point, you can find a guard clearly slacking off. In response, he says:
--->No I’m not goofing off, I’m guarding this here tree! Seriously!
** Much later, after the battle in [[spoiler:the cave in Darnia]] against [[spoiler:Deimos]], a guard asks what all the commotion was. Slade says that he dropped a glass. The guard believes it.
--->'''Slade:''' [[LampshadeHanging (Moron.)]]
* DelayedReaction: When Alia first sees Slade after some time, she is initially completely unconcerned with Orion, the [[InTheHood hooded]], rather [[DarkIsNotEvil sinister-looking]] companion Slade has with him. Then he leaves, and she finally freaks out.
* DontYouDarePityMe: Maribel says this to Slade when he defeats her in a duel, as she now respects his strength.
* DuelBoss:
** Lambert, the mayor of Domina who has a history with Sharn and sentenced him to execution once they meet again, decides to carry out the sentence himself and is personally fought by Sharn.
** Maribel, not believing Slade could possible have beaten Shadar, challenges him to a one-on-one fight.
* ElectricTorture: Apollo orders Arianna to inflict this on a captured [[spoiler:Slade]] for 3 days straight.
* {{Flashback}}: Humorously subverted in one instance. Sharn is about to recall the time when he tried to kill Narik, and the screen begins fading to black... before Sharn stops and says "Nevermind" due to him realizing he is being spied on.
* FoulCafeteriaFood: The food in the Ragan hotel is really bad, according to Sharn and Iris, the former of whom compares it to prison food.
-->'''Sharn:''' If you know what’s good for you, you’ll stay away from the ham-hawks.
-->'''Slade:''' What’s a Ham-Hawk?
-->'''Sharn:''' I don’t know, and I don’t want to find out.
-->'''Iris:''' This “loaf of meat” as they called it is more like a brick.
* InTheHood: Shadar, the primary antagonist of this setting is a miasma-like being in a hood.
* LastSecondEndingChoice: During the final confrontation against Shadar, he will offer to [[spoiler:erase the heroes' memories and let them live happy lives while he carries out his plan]]. Taking his offer leads to the bad ending, while rejecting it leads to the good ending.
* OverlyNarrowSuperlative: A woman uses this to advertise her TraumaInn.
-->'''Loud Woman:''' Hey! You! Come to the White Swallow Inn! It’s the best in town!
-->'''Slade:''' You also neglect to mention it’s the ONLY inn in town.
* PassThePopcorn: When Slade and Orion decide to spar, Sharn asks an apparition for popcorn. Said apparition has no idea what popcorn even is.
* PervertRevengeMode: Rhea throws off a sailor from a ship after he bumped into her, which she mistook as groping.
* PoweredByAForsakenChild: [[spoiler:Apollo’s “utopia” is kept afloat by crystals powered with the souls of people he slaughters.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Both Rhea and Sharn are rude, but turn out to have some good traits.
* RealMenEatMeat: An NPC expresses this opinion:
-->'''Clod:''' Meat! The food of true men!
-->'''Slade:''' Are you going to eat that entire chicken?
-->'''Clod:''' Of course!
