''Have I crossed the line?''\
''Well, that's a good question! Let me ask your friends!''\
''OH WAIT, I MURDERED THEM!!''

For those times when a [[FanWorks fanfic writer]] wants to show [[MoralEventHorizon just how far a character can go before becoming irredeemable]], look no further than the examples below.
----
!!Subpages
[[index]]
* ''MoralEventHorizon/AllForLuz''
[[/index]]
----
[[AC:''VisualNovel/AceAttorney'']]
* ''Fanfic/SomebodyThatIUsedToKnow'': in universe, Juan Corrida considers himself to have crossed this when he [[spoiler: forges the suicide note in order to implicate Matt in Celeste's death. He sees absolutely no other way to get justice, or to reveal the truth about what happened in a way that people will actually listen to, but he still hates himself and sees himself as a total monster for going through with it. Worth noting that he is WELL over the DespairEventHorizon by the time he comes up with this particular plan.]]

[[AC:''Series/AgentsOfSHIELD'']]
* ''The Season 4 Fanfics'': Brett Petrie takes crossing the line up to eleven when he disregards Ward's orders to just simply kill Andrew by [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown brutally torturing]] and [[AxCrazy mutilating him first]]. Then disregarding [[EvenEvilHasStandards Ward's orders not to touch Lincoln]], [[FamilyUnfriendlyDeath does even worse to him]].

[[AC:''Series/{{Arrowverse}}'']]
* ''Fanfic/BlackbirdArrow''
** Dinah Lance goes over the horizon twofold in the same incident. First, by trading Laurel to the League of Assassins for Sara's freedom. Second, by bullying Sara into going along with it via manipulating Sara through her trauma, then leaving her to live with the guilt after her youngest daughter finally comprehended what happened. Everyone who finds out about her actions find them openly appalling, with Oliver even tempted to visit her as the Hood solely because of this.
** Ra's is already an unredeemable monster at the start of the flashbacks, but he sinks to a new low when he allows Dinah to trade Laurel for Sara's freedom, and then forces Laurel to comply and become a full-fledged assassin by holding ''her entire city'' hostage. Nyssa is so disgusted by his decision, she outright pledges to give Laurel her freedom the moment she succeeds her father as Ra's.

[[AC:''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'']]
* ''A:TLAR'':
** Warden Liruk, of Chapter Four: Shooting one of his own guards in the head as a demonstration of how he uses his WeaponForIntimidation, so that Katara would go to his private quarters for...let's try not to think about that.
** The Enforcers, of Chapter Six: The brutal murder of Xin Fu on the grounds of gambling debts certainly counts.
** Pick any moment from [[spoiler:Jet]]'s backstory section in Chapter Eight.
* In ''Webcomic/HowIBecameYours'', Mai killing Katara's unborn baby via poisoned fruit is meant to be this. For more objective readers, it's actually [[spoiler:Katara ''bloodbending Mai to death'' (and in broad daylight), when she was perfectly capable of merely incapacitating her so Mai would be taken to trial for attempted murder ''and'' murder of her baby.]]

[[AC:''ComicStrip/CalvinAndHobbes'']]
* [[{{Technopath}} Electro]] crosses the line shortly after revealing himself in ''Fanfic/CalvinAndHobbesTheSeries'':
--> "I wouldn't do that, Calvin, [[WouldHurtAChild unless you want five million volts of electricity surging through you.]]"

[[AC:''WesternAnimation/ChalkZone'']]
* ''Fanfic/SinfulBehaviors'': Not only does Mr. Cosmo cross this, he quickly moves miles away from it. The crowning moment of this is in many of the scenes involving him and Snap. His treatment of Snap is downright abhorrent and cruel.
** ''Fanfic/PlayTheGame'': Bardot goes much further over this line than Cosmo did. One particularly example of how vile he is happens in an earlier chapter when he eats Mr. Sanchez's arm in front of Penny.
* ''Fanfic/YouBelongToMe'': Mint did a lot of terrible things, but the moment he crossed the line was when he broke Snap's back. What makes this worse is that Snap was defenseless; Mint could have just subdued him, but instead he decided to attack an unarmed zoner. Needless to say, Rudy and Penny did not take this well.

[[AC:''{{Crossover}}'']]
* ''Fanfic/ChildOfTheStorm'' has Gravemoss, already a quite obviously unstable SoftSpokenSadist of a necromancer, zoom across the line with utter glee in chapter 21, wielding the Darkhold. Lucius Malfoy asks for a demonstration of his power by destroying [=MI6=] and does not bargain for what he gets: Gravemoss proceeds to individually murder several groups of homeless people, ripping out their hearts one at a time, turning them into mortal based versions of undead monsters called the ''veirdraugar'', the so-called 'Hunting Dead'. They nearly ''wiped out'' Asgard around 4000 years ago and Odin went to a great deal of effort to render them into little more than folklore. [[WouldHurtAChild When that's done, he takes those infants too small to be of any use, and feeds them to the ''veidrdraugar'', which, at the very least, include the children's mothers, if not their fathers too.]] After that, he takes them on a test run, and has them attack a car that's stopped at a red light, containing a young family, devouring them alive. Lucius sees one chewing on a small child's pyjama clad leg. To make it even worse, it's a set of Iron Man pyjamas. And all Gravemoss does is let out a delighted little chuckle and coo over them like they're his pets. Then he turns them on [=MI6=]. [[EvenEvilHasStandards Lucius, who has previously been shown to take a nigh Dalek like attitude to exterminating muggles, who he generally sees as little more than animals, is horrified - as the narration puts it, there are some things you don't do, even to animals]].
* In [[Fanfic/ChildrenOfTime "The Manhattan Conspiracy"]], Colonel Marshall suggests torturing [[Series/DoctorWho the Doctor]] purely ForTheEvulz to further his status with Dalek Caan. The Doctor's temporarily-three Companions agree that the man is ''dead''.
* While it's not the first time he's killed anyone without cause or even his worst act, Vash of ''Fanfic/ChristianHumberReloaded'' [[note]]A crossover between too many works to list here[[/note]] crosses it by killing his friend Soku, her entire family, all her friends and the rest of her town [[DisproportionateRetribution in revenge for turning him in to the police]].
* Fanfic/EquestriaGirlsAFairlyOddFriendship: [[spoiler: The Dazzlings]] cross it with aplomb when [[spoiler: they beat/torture Timmy near the end of the story]] in an attempt to force him to use [[spoiler: the brainwashed]] Cosmo and Wanda to grant them wishes. [[spoiler: Adagio]] in particular goes even further beyond the line when [[spoiler: she nearly has Trixie killed out of spite right in front of Timmy, and would’ve succeeded if the Rainbooms hadn’t pulled a BigDamnHeroes at the last second.]]
* ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8532906/1/iFightCrimeWithVictorious iFight Crime With Victorious]]'' has Robbie abusing his power to make [[spoiler: Cat give him a blowjob]], Beck losing control of his power and [[spoiler: burning Jade alive, who comes back to life later thanks to her power and tortures Beck in vengeance]], Carly abandoning her friends due to [[spoiler: obsession with having a super power and not sharing it with anyone]], and Neville killing Sam [[spoiler: in the first timeline]] to torture Carly. Many of Megan's visions also predict these events happening to various characters.
* ''Fanfic/HuntersOfJustice'':
** Brainiac crosses it within the first chapter. After he single-handedly defeats both teams RWBY and JNPR, he bottles the last remaining city, Vale. Immediately afterwards, he destroys the entire planet, killing millions of people. He then reveals to the two teams that he intends to study the captured cities of Remnant until he learns all that he can from them. After which, he will then dispose of them to make room for future cities that he intends to collect.
** As if betraying her people to serve Brainiac wasn't enough, Raven Branwen then sells out Qrow, her own brother, to become Brainiac's lab rat. [[spoiler: She tries to impede her own brother's escape from Brainiac's clutches]].
** Jacques Schnee, himself, also sells out [[spoiler: his own wife and son, Willow and Whitley]], in an [[DirtyCoward effort to save his own life]]. The revelation of this causes Weiss to disavow him as her father.
* ''Fanfic/InfinityTrainBlossomverse'':
** ''Fanfic/InfinityTrainBlossomingTrail'':
*** Even before Simon [[spoiler:decided to murder Tuba]], he tore Lexi's pages off and buried him within the confines of his own car, which is the equivalent of crippling a child and shoving them into a grave. And both he and Grace ''relished'' the DramaticIrony of his father being unaware that Lexi never even made it out of their car. This is also not counting the other atrocities that he's committed over the years or how he wants to hurt the Red Lotus Trio when they finally meet [[spoiler:before he decides that he doesn't care that many of the denizens he killed were once humans and decides to become the embodiment of Destruction where he '''murders Chloe and Tuba''' out of sheer spite]].
*** Sara essentially skipped past this when she and the class inflicted a [[spoiler:''Carrie''-esque]] punishment for Chloe; even having been scared to death by [[spoiler:a red-paint covered Chloe]] wasn't enough to get the message that bullying her is a dumb idea.
*** [[spoiler:[=UnChloe=]]] pretty much skipped across this when she [[spoiler:decides to torture ''every single one of Chloe's classmates'' in front of Miss April or perhaps it was when she ''threatened to skin Ash alive'' to the real Chloe.]]
*** Walter and Henry cross it when [[spoiler:they tortured Paul into Despair, gaslighting him to believe it's his fault for murdering Sean.]]
*** [[spoiler:Ms. Turner crossed it either when she revealed she critically injured Mew.]]
** ''Fanfic/InfinityTrainKnightOfTheOrangeLily'':
*** Grace crossed it when she [[spoiler:killed Utahoshi by stabbing him with her knife and proclaiming that it was all to "save" Tokio from the rabbits]].
*** Shortly after, Kisaragi crossed it when he [[spoiler:brainwashed Tokio into becoming the White Rabbit, a process that he continues by constantly injecting ideas into his head, to the point he's spent over a year because of it and ''Kisaragi shows no remorse for this'']].
* ''Fanfic/{{Equestrylvania}}'':
** [[CreepyMortician Dirt Nap]] crosses the line when he joins Dracula's minions, [[DealWithTheDevil sells his soul]] to the demon [[PlayingWithFire Aguni]], and proceeds to [[spoiler:burn down Ponyville]].
** [[spoiler: [[WickedWitch Actrise]] crosses it when she [[DemonicPossession possesses Marble]], who refused, to poison most of Ponyville's remaining foals.]]
** [[spoiler:Rose Blade]] crosses it when he hands over [[spoiler:Princess Cadence]] to Dracula's forces in exchange for safety and supplies for him and his men. And he only gets [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil worse from there]].
* ''Fanfic/RemnantsBizarreAdventure'':
** Toshikazu Hazamada crosses it when he attempts to rape Pyrrha. Thankfully, he fails horribly.
** Angelo crossed it long ago, but kidnapping and attempting to kill Koichi only serves to show just how over the line he is.
* Cocoa Mocha in ''Fanfic/ManehattansLoneGuardian'' was already seen as evil on account of his plan to dethrone Celestia. He cheerfully crosses the line upon his death [[spoiler:when he steals the life and body of one of his own grandchildren, leaving the victim to drown in a sea of his memories, and it's indicated that he's been doing this since before Discord's reign of terror]] -- all for the sake of his itinerary.
* ''WebVideo/TheReviewTeam'': If [[AxeCrazy Voodoo Justin]] didn't cross this by murdering the cult that created him (to be fair, he was just born and possibly scared), he really did when he murdered everyone he could find in a news studio.
* In ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26pbgIMWtmk Robotnik declara su amor a Reimu Hakurei]]'' (''Robotnik declares his love for [[Franchise/TouhouProject Reimu Hakurei]]''), [[WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfSonicTheHedgehog Robotnik]] crosses the MEH when he attempts [[spoiler:to rape her, after she refused his marriage proposal. Luckily he is defeated and exposed.]]
* ''Fanfic/TheOwlAndTheFrog''
** [[spoiler:Although he's probably crossed it long ago, what makes Belos truly irredeemable here is when he manipulates Sasha and destroys her personal relationships in the process.]]
** [[spoiler:Odalys crossed it when she imposed high student debt to prevent other species or low-class newts from entering Newtopia University. And if that didn't do it, then her participation in the experiments on toads and witches (including [[WouldHurtAChild her sadistic enjoyment in hurting Amity]]) certainly did.]]
** [[spoiler:Andrias seems to have crossed it when he blew up Wartwood, killing off half the resistance.]]
* ''Fanfic/TeenageJinchurikiShinobi'' has Kira killing Isis, child of Raven and Dove spirits Kureno and Kyoko when Isis was but a mere baby, all because Kira did not get the power that Kureno rightfully deserves.
* ''WebAnimation/TurnaboutStorm'': [[AssholeVictim Ace Swift]] is revealed to have [[spoiler:been blackmailing other racers into losing to him. It was not enough that he won the races; they also had to stay in them and lose to him, thus wasting the money they paid for the entry fees and getting black spots on their racing records, just so he could look good]]. This already made him an AssholeVictim, but he crossed the line into irredeemably evil either when he [[spoiler:threatened to have Cruise Control's comatose sister pulled from the hospital if he didn't give into his demands]] or when he [[spoiler:tried to kill his manager/accomplice Sonata after she tried to go straight and leave him and his blackmailing business]].
* In the ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans''/''Comicbook/{{XMen}}'' fanfic, ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10514169/1/Return-of-a-Titan-The-Lone-Outlaw Return of a Titan]]'' (both the original version and the recent reboot), Robin crosses it when, believing that Beast Boy [[spoiler:is going to steal Starfire from him]], uses the Beast incident as an excuse to kick him out of the Titans. However, what truly makes him cross the horizon is [[spoiler:having the X-Force kill him, which fails, but still is very cold]] and then [[{{Unperson}} tries to have all mentions of Beast Boy removed]].
* In ''Fanfic/{{Kage}}'' (a ''WesternAnimation/JackieChanAdventures'' and ''WesternAnimation/{{WITCH}}'' crossover), [[KnightTemplar Kur]] is revealed to have led a pogrom [[FantasticRacism against shapeshifters]] during Prince Phobos' rule. During one of his occasions of burning them at the stake, he lured Miranda ([[UsedToBeASweetKid five years old at the time]]) to expose herself under [[YouSaidYouWouldLetThemGo false promises]] of releasing her captured human parents. As Miranda's parents and other innocent people burned, Kur [[ForcedToWatch forced Miranda to watch]] and crushed her spirit by saying that this was all her fault and the Light of Meridian's will.
** The RecursiveFanfiction ''Fanfic/ShadowsOverMeridian'' has a couple of examples:
*** The Warden of Cavigor goes against Vathek and the other less extreme rebels' wishes by ordering his men to murder all the defenseless prisoners – who are not all even guilty of real wrongdoings – in order to prevent them from being freed and recruited by Frost's army that's about to breach Cavigor. When he's confronted by Vathek, he's [[KnightTemplar self-assured Elyon would approve of him doing what's necessay to protect the kingdom from Phobos and his monsters]].
*** Jax, one of the Warden's lieutenants who happily carries out his order to kill all the prisoners, [[VillainousBreakdown snaps]] when [[spoiler:Frost's army enters Cavigor through an underground tunnel]], blames Vathek and Drake for not agreeing with the Warden's extreme measures and killing Phobos and Jade in the first place, and [[TakingYouWithMe decides to kill them both before going down himself]].
* Count Logan from ''Fanfic/TheEndOfEnds'' (see the ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'' section below) crosses it even further than his source material in ''Fanfic/FriendshipIsFailure #10'', which is a {{Crossover}} with ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic''. Having [[FinalSolution Equestria itself and all its inhabitants become Logan's casualties]] is bad enough, but he proceeds to take a 100-yard dash across that line by [[spoiler:[[OffWithHerHead gleefully ripping the head off]] of [[WouldHurtAChild Flurry Heart]]]].
* The ''WesternAnimation/DanVs'' and ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' crossover ''Fanfic/TheWheelAndTheButterflySaga'': Terry-Man was egotistical SmugSuper to begin with, but he crosses this line when he takes his obsession with Dan to the point of savagely beating him and Pinkie and threatening to blow up Pinkie's head if Dan didn't surrender, [[spoiler: only to try and kill them all, including Elise and Chris (The latter of who, actually tried to make piece and even comfort Terry.) even after Dan surrendered.]]
* ''Fanfic/CodePrime'' has several villains cross the line.
** Airachnid, who was already a vile piece of work for what she did to Arcee, certainly tops herself in Chapter 19 when she slaughters dozens of innocent Japanese citizens ''just because she was bored''.
** After Mao kidnapped and nearly killed Nunnally, and expressed his intention of making C.C., Cornelia, and Euphemia his [[SexSlave sex slaves]], nobody feels pity towards him when Megatron turns him over to be experimented on by Shockwave after failing to capture C.C. and kill Lelouch one too many times.
** [[spoiler: [[Characters/CodePrimeMegatron Megatron]] had already crossed it when he poisoned Cybertron's core with Dark Energon and rendered it uninhabitable with no remorse, but he truly crosses the line when he orchestrates the SAZ Massacre. He twists the knife even further by using a Pretender drone disguised as Euphemia to carry it out.]]
** [[spoiler:The SAZ Massacre is also one for Dorothea Ernst, Luciano Bradley and Bismarck Waldstein. Luciano gleefully joins in the slaughter the second they're given orders to do so, Dorothea tries to kill Suzaku with no sign of hesitating, and Bismarck not only gives the order given by Charles (actually a disguised Soundwave) but he completely ignores the bloodbath in order to fight Optimus.]]
* ''Fanfic/AManOfIron'':
** Joffrey Baratheon as in canon crosses it when he kills [[spoiler:Sansa]] to spite Tony and Ned Stark.
** [[spoiler:Renly ordered the bandits, Ivanko and Asha Greyjoy to kill Tony and Robb - just because he thinks that this will make Eddard bend the knee to him]].
* In ''Fanfic/WhiteDevilOfTheMoon'', [[AbusiveParents Precia Testarossa]] is already past the MoralEventHorizon, but she does something even [[LoveMartyr Fate]] finds unforgivable when she [[spoiler:attacks Alicia, the daughter that she cloned Fate from and wants her to be a ReplacementGoldfish to, when Alicia tries to stop her from whipping her "sister" Fate]].

[[AC:''Franchise/DanganRonpa'']]
* On ''Blog/AskTheNewHopesPeak'', Saki Maruyama crosses it when she [[spoiler:tortures Mahiru Koizumi and kills Yasuhiro Hagakure during the season 1 finale'']].
* In ''Fanfic/NewHopeUniversityMajorInMurder'', [[spoiler:Juliet Mountebank, the Ultimate Girlfriend,]] was probably past this by the time the story started, due to being a murderer prior to entering the killing game, but what establishes [[spoiler:her]] as the group's TokenEvilTeammate is [[spoiler:her]] role in the second murder. [[spoiler:Juliet manipulates J.P. Laettner into killing [[NiceGirl Emily]], and while she tries TakingTheHeat for him, she ultimately [[KarmaHoudini goes unpunished]] while he gets executed.]] From this point on, no one trusts [[spoiler:her]] in the slightest, [[spoiler:and Saya doesn't feel any sorrow when Lucina(the girl Saya loves) kills Juliet]].

[[AC:''Creator/DCComics'']]
* In the series ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8700173/1/Lex-Luthor-Triumphant Lex Luthor Triumphant]]'', Lex Luthor grants Lois Lane an interview 8 months after Superman [[spoiler:vanished without a trace]]. He calmly tells her how [[spoiler:he captured, lobotomized, skinned Superman; he also tells her it's an ongoing thing. Selling Superman's eyes, skin, teeth, and fingernails]] has made Luthor even [[spoiler:richer than before]]. Which, of course, means [[spoiler:[[HeKnowsTooMuch Lois isn't making it out of his building alive]]]].

[[AC:''Manga/DeathNote'']]
* In the ''Manga/DeathNote'' fanfic ''Fanfic/StoryOfTheCentury'', Light and Misa cross over this towards the end. [[spoiler:Believing that Rem has already wiped out everyone on the task force, [[OriginalCharacter Erin]] goes to confront Light and Misa, to find Light writing his father's name in what he believes to be Misa's notebook. The instant Erin tackles Light, Misa proceeds to give Erin a beatdown, sees her real name with her Shinigami Eyes, and shouts it to Light. She holds Erin down while Light writes Erin's name in the notebook. Although it's implied that Misa is beginning to doubt Light and their mission, she defends their cause fiercely and [[KickTheDog even kicks Erin as she begs them to realize what they're doing.]] [[FauxAffablyEvil Although Light tells Erin that he's sorry]], he insists that [[WellIntentionedExtremist he's only doing what's good for the new world]], not seeming that sorry or concerned about Erin's thoughts on the issue in the least. It's assumed that they would have gone on to kill everyone else on the task force afterwards had they not been thwarted. From their viewpoint, it was [[HeKnowsTooMuch probably justified,]] but still...]]
** L's actions towards the end are treated as crossing over this, at least due to intention rather than the action in itself. [[spoiler: After Erin overhears Light and Misa discuss their plans, she tells L about it in secret. Without the task force's knowledge, he has Wedy break into Misa's apartment to steal her notebook that she'd dug up, and replaces it with a counterfeit made by Watari. He has the deaths covered on the news channels to make it seem as though Misa's still killing criminals. Then, to give himself immunity to the Death Note, he writes his own name in Misa's notebook and gives himself 23 days. He uses this also to manipulate Soichiro and the task force into going along with the rest of his plan, which includes pretending to test the 13-day rule in the notebook using two death-row inmates and luring Misa back into a trap. Not knowing any of this, [[TakeAThirdOption Erin tries to destroy the notebooks (despite one of the fake rules)]] and [[SaveTheVillain free Light and Misa from their influence,]] only to have L tackle and knock her out so she can't interfere. The reason this is considered his MEH is because, at least according to Erin, he was more concerned with exposing the two Kiras and solving the case rather than actually saving anyone. Letting her destroy the notebooks would be destroying the evidence, letting Kira get away for good. He doesn't deny it when [[WhatTheHellHero she calls him out on it]], either...]]

[[AC:''Franchise/{{Digimon}}'']]
* [[spoiler:[[BigBad Daemon]]]] from the ''Fanfic/TamersForeverSeries'' was already an AxCrazy OmnicidalManiac, but he crosses the line when he [[spoiler:tries to kill Suzie Wong]]
** [[spoiler:The Fake Gennai]] crosses over when he [[spoiler:kidnaps Mimi's unborn child and then leaves Mimi to wander the wilderness while her grief slowly drives her insane]].
* ''Fanfic/Zero2ARevision'' has Darkheart, aka [[spoiler:the corrupted version of Davis Motomiya]], who cements his sadistic and evil personality when he massacres and destroys the entire inhabitants of Primary Village.

[[AC:''Franchise/DragonAge'']]
* In ''VideoGame/DragonAgeInquisition'' fanfic ''Fanfic/WalkingInCircles'' as per canon, the Circles' Annulments. As Evelyn points out, they use the word 'annulment' because it can cover up the real meaning of such event: 'murder', where all innocent people are killed for being what they are, and not even helpless people like Tranquil or children are spared.
** Ser Grieves crossed it long ago as the reason he was transferred to Otswick was because he framed and turned a mage Tranquil to rape her.

[[AC:''WesternAnimation/FairlyOddparents'']]
* In ''Fanfic/NeverHadAFriendLikeMe'', [[OriginalCharacter Amanda]] [[ShrinkingViolet Adams]] has [[AbusiveParents emotionally abusive parents]] that everyone agrees are horrible people. They apparently cross the line when her parents manage to make her cry on ''Christmas morning''. Right after she gave them a hand-made present. This final act prompts [[JerkassGenie Norm]] to immediately give the pair the flu in retaliation.
** If they hadn't crossed it already, they certainly cross it in "Tales as Old as Time", when they admit - in front of Amanda - that the only reason they didn't put her up for adoption when she was born is because her grandmother would have cut them out of her will, and that they hate being stuck with her. Which only makes Norm's "The Reason You Suck" Speech all the more satisfying.

[[AC:''Franchise/FinalFantasy'']]
* [[spoiler:Dread]] Raven killing [[spoiler:Sir Loin]] in ''Fanfic/TheTaintedGrimoire''.

[[AC:''Series/{{Firefly}}'']]
* ''Fanfic/{{Forward}}'' introduces Inducer One-One-Nine, another Academy escapee who seems like she might be just as sympathetic as River....and then leaps across the MEH in the span of a single chapter, when she [[spoiler:reveals she's been behind a violent murder spree and the massacre of a village, and then uses her PsychicPowers to force a nearby man to shoot and beat Mal into a coma, {{Mind Rape}}s River into being her protector/bodyguard, and kills the entire crew of a freighter as a distraction.]] And that's just the start of it, as in the next part of the story, she [[spoiler:forces a man to commit suicide just because he worked for Blue Sun, and then causes a space station of over eight hundred people to go berserk and start killing each other just to delay a pair of Hands of Blue.]]
** This doesn't make her death in any way satisfying for the reader, or the person who pulls the trigger. [[spoiler:Inducer One-One-Nine is, at most, ''12 years old.'' We also get to read a snippet from an leaked internal document from the Academy about another subject going through "combat testing", during which the report suggests that further trials should be suspended "until the subject enters adolescence"; the MindRape they were inflicting on River is also being tested on ''pre-teens''.]] If the Academy didn't already cross the Moral Event Horizon with what they did to River, they sure have now.

[[AC:''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys'']]
* ''Fanfic/YouSeemAcquaintedWithThoseDoors'': VillainProtagonist Charles Cooper crosses it by killing the five children and then using their body parts to undo the damages that they did to the animatronics.

[[AC:''ComicStrip/ForBetterOrForWorse'']]
* That John Patterson crosses it in the ''ComicStrip/ForBetterOrForWorse'' fanfic ''Fanfic/TheNewRetcons'', there's no question. ''When'' is more debatable. There are three strong candidates though:
** When Elly goes insane and he refuses to seek treatment for her.
** When he ''attacks'' Elly [[spoiler:upon finding out she had an illegitimate daughter and point-blank revealing Michael's not his biological son -- something he did ''not'' know]].
** When he brought his ''fiancee'' to his ''wife's'' funeral. It's worse in that [[spoiler:said fiancee was Kortney Krelbutz, who had stolen from Elly's store and threatened to beat up April over it. Not to mention both the courtship and the engagement happened before Elly died]].
** For what it's worth though, what some characters view as his MEH was when they discovered that the still insane Elly had been mistreating and starving their elderly dog Edgar...and he thought it was ''hilarious''.
** Speaking of Elly, she retroactively crossed it when [[spoiler:Elizabeth and Anthony figure out that she was behind Elizabeth's AttemptedRape to invoke the RescueRomance trope on them]].

[[AC:''Anime/GirlsUndPanzer'']]
* In ''Fanfic/BoysDoTankary'', several of [[OriginalCharacter Vincent]]'s men cross it in a flashback when they [[GratuitousRape rape]] and murder some teenage [=POWs=]. When Vincent refuses to do the same to Nyra, the remaining girl, their superior has him and Nyra locked up in a room with a gun for a month, and they are told that if one doesn't kill the other by then, they both will die. Vincent is forced to give in and kill Nyra, [[spoiler:but she turns out to have survived]].
* In ''Fanfic/BoysUndSenshado'', Miho's mother Shiho crosses it when she [[spoiler:visits Miho in the hospital for the sole purpose of announcing that Miho has been disowned]].
* In ''Fanfic/GirlsUndPanzerHopeDies'', [[PlotTriggeringDeath the story begins with Miho being strangled to death in her own apartment]]. Obviously, brutally murdering a character who'd done nothing to deserve it would qualify in and of itself, but it gets worse when it turns out that [[spoiler:the culprit is none other than Yukari, [[IfICantHaveYou who killed Miho for rejecting her]] LoveConfession]].

[[AC:''Literature/HarryPotter'']]
* Ginny considers John Potter (Harry's twin) to have crossed the line in ''Fanfic/DodgingPrisonAndStealingWitches'' after she hears that in the [[PeggySue second timeline]] he allowed her to be possessed by Riddle because "if he prevented it, Ginny would be different from the girl he loved". Perhaps even more than Harry does, Ginny '''hates''' John for deciding her suffering months of MindRape is worth it to make sure she doesn't change.
* Cornelius Fudge in ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/750576/1/Never_Alone_Never_Again Never Alone Never Again]]''. He sent Aurors to ambush the Weasley house to arrest Harry, attacking everyone, including the unarmed ones. Then he ordered an adult dose of Veritaserum for Harry, which could potentially kill him at his age, and after Harry gave his truthful statement, Fudge didn't believe him and promptly tossed him in Azkaban. But one of the worst things he did was [[spoiler:hide that Voldemort had returned and ordering his people to take the murdered victims and burn their bodies so no one would know about them. Dozens of witches, wizards and children were dead and more kept dying and all he cared about was keeping his image.]] His eventual fate seemed a bit [[KarmaHoudini too easy]], considering what he had done, as Ron [[LampshadeHanging angrily pointed out.]]
* In-universe, both Snape and Dumbeledore in ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/24574624 No More]]'' cross the line when the former murders a first year by forcing her to drink a potion he knew she'd brewed incorrectly and the latter covers it up as "an unfortunate accident". That Snape is literally getting away with murdering a child enrages the student body enough to riot.
* In-universe, any pureblood who hears about it considers Voldemort creating a horcrux (let alone several) to be this in ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8143094/1/The-Power-He-Knows-Not-Is The Power He Knows Not Is]]''. As far as they're concerned, the soul is the single most sacred thing in the world and creating a horcrux requires destroying your victim's in addition to mutilating your own.
* ''Fanfic/ThePowerOfSeven'':
** Dumbledore goes from "well-meaning but antagonist" to "full-blown villain" when it's revealed [[spoiler:he plans to collapse the wards around the Dursleys, the ones established by Lily's HeroicSacrifice that keep Harry safe from Voldemort, as part of a plot to kill Harry's sex drive so he can't complete the ritual. Fleur muses that such destructive magic probably wouldn't do anyone nearby any favors, either.]]
** Bill goes from an InspectorJavert concerned for his sister's well-being to TheDragon when [[spoiler:he tries cursing Fleur with something uncomfortably close to dark magic for standing up for Harry, then raving at the Weasleys about Harry corrupting Ginny with dark magic. Arthur and Molly note that ''Bill'' is the one acting like he's being corrupted, not Ginny.]]
* ''Fanfic/TheVerySecretDiary'': Riddle was already over the line before the story, but after Ginny learns his true colors, he starts [[MindRape torturing her with sleep deprivation]] and making threats against her family, all because she starts defying his power. And remember, he's doing this to an ''[[WouldHurtAChild eleven year old girl]]''.

[[AC:''Webcomic/HetaliaAxisPowers'']]
* UsefulNotes/ImperialJapan crosses it in ''[[http://yamirkins.livejournal.com/1333.html An Asian's Harem of Asians]]'' by keeping his own family (China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, both Koreas, Vietnam, Thailand and other OC!Asian nations) ''as his {{Sex Slave}}s'', either molesting/raping them or forcing them to molest/rape each other for his amusement. And his worst act is [[spoiler: obligating both North and South Korea to rape China, then raping China himself.]] [[{{Squick}} .... Eeeeew.]]
* The Financial Crisis Gangbang has the titular gangbang committed by most of the main cast.
* The homophobe crossed this in ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11886910/1/Gankona-Unnachgiebig-Unità Gankona, Unnachgiebig, Unità]]'' when he snatched Italy from out of nowhere, beat him up, and strangled him just because he thought Italy was gay. He's bisexual, but that didn't matter. To make matters worse, he would have [[spoiler:raped Italy if Germany and Japan had not pounced the man while he was momentarily preoccupied and [[CatharsisFactor proceeded to beat the ever-loving crap out of him]].]]
* [[Webcomic/HetaliaAxisPowers Prussia]] could have been a MagnificentBastard in the DarkerAndEdgier fic ''Fanfic/AllHeEverWanted'', but in ''The Seventh Door'', he [[spoiler:brings Hungary to the cell occupied by an already-captured Austria, and brutally tortures and rapes her while [[ForcedToWatch forcing a helpless Austria to watch]], and twisting the knife even more by telling Austria that "it's for his benefit".]] This was so cruel and over the top that ''many'' readers swore off AHEW as a whole.
** [[spoiler:'''Hungary''']] may have crossed it for some readers, losing the sympathy points from the first incident when [[spoiler:she teaches Liechtenstein to become Prussia's lover alongside her, so they can get benefits from it. Yes, a rape victim ''coaches another into giving sexual pleasure'' '''to their common rapist''']]. Others may consider it more of a mere KickTheDog brought by the harsh circumstances both of them are caught in, though.

[[AC:''WebAnimation/HomestarRunner'']]
* In ''Pom Pom's Eleven'', Homeschool Winner is quickly established to be a rather greedy villain who is responsible for embezzling money from Homestar Runner and his friends to the point that they were forced to close down their website simply because he saw Free Country as being populated by idiots that were much dumber than himself, taking away their prized possessions that they were forced to sell in order to make up for the money that they had lost (including Pom Pom's dog, Trivia Time) to satisfy said greed, also taking over the King Of Town's castle and turning it into his personal mansion afterwards. He starts to teeter further down the line when it is revealed that he had been manipulating both Homestar Runner and Marzipan so that he could become the boyfriend of the latter, happily admitting that he was responsible for their breakup by tricking Homestar Runner into not showing up for something that was important to her. But he finally crosses the line when, after his misdeeds have been revealed to the public, he stabs Homestar Runner with his knife in the chest, [[spoiler:which would have killed him if it weren't for the bag of marshmallows he was secretly carrying underneath his shirt.]]

* In ''Fanfic/TheBlacksmithsApprentice'', Snotlout may have crossed this when he tried to [[spoiler:rape Astrid]], but any chance of Snotlout being forgiven or offered a chance at redemption is lost when [[spoiler:he shows no reaction to his father dying while Spitelout was trying to save his daughter from the Outcasts Snotlout brought to Berk]].

Fido is so disgusted by what Bino says to Tiger that he ends up [[spoiler:disowning Bino as a brother]].
** Rover and Spike, two OC dogs cross it in Tiger's backstory when they play a game called "Crush The Kitty", a game where they take turns throwing Tiger against a wall until his bones fracture. The second time they did it, Tiger nearly had to be euthanized. Also, keep in mind that Tiger was only a puppy when he endured that abuse.

[[AC:''WesternAnimation/InfinityTrain'']]
* ''Fanfic/TheSunWillComeUpAndTheSeasonsWillChange'':
** Dana Summer is shown to be an abusive mother to her daughter Mary because Mary has autism. Dana refuses to understand her daughter and blames her for all of her problems. Dana tries to make her daughter's behavior and autism worse than it is and tries to find ways to cure Mary's autism; even if there is no cure, some of those so-called cures are dangerous, and there are ways to deal with them. But in chapter 9, when Dana's husband Todd and their older daughter Reagan read Dana's blog, they were horrified and outraged to learn how much Dana hated Mary, that Dana actually believed that Mary would grow up to be a potential school shooter, and is even considering having Mary sterilized once she turns 18.
** Nora crosses it in Chapter 19 when she attempted to kill her autistic brother. Twice. On the same night. (Once by leaving him out in the cold in -2 degree weather without a coat on, and then by beating his head on the back of a table when their parents confront her.) If not then, then definetly in the following chapter when she gives Mary a BreakingSpeech and shooting her in the shoulder, leaving her for dead while taking Blanca hostage.

* In ''Fanfic/QueenOfAllOni'', the dark chi wizard Lung, Daolon Wong's former apprentice, crosses this when he [[spoiler:captures and TORTURES Jade to try and break her to his will, and goes ahead with it even though it's clear she's DYING! If it wasn't for this (and his UndyingLoyalty to Jade), Right having [[KilledOffForReal killed him]] would have been Right's, and Jade's feelings toward him would also qualify as being justified (she didn't order it, she was near death at the time, but she was glad he was dead)]].
** [[VillainProtagonist Jade]] herself crosses the line when she [[spoiler:kidnaps Viper in order to transform and brainwash her into the new Samurai Khan General, Hebi]].
* ''[[Fanfic/TheUltimateEvil The Stronger Evil]]'': After Shendu goes back on their deal, Daolon Wong attempts to have revenge by shooting [[VillainousCrush the demon's love interest Valerie Payne]]. What makes this act really heinous is the fact that Wong first met Valerie when she helped the Chans only hours earlier and doesn't really know her as a nemesis like he knows them. This is even worse than it sounds, especially considering that [[spoiler:Hanako was scarred in the same house fire that claimed the lives of both her parents, only surviving because her mother shielded her from the flames]], and because Mr. Satou ''was warned about Hanako's scars and sensitivity in advance''.

The donkeys that can't be sold are even [[WouldHurtAChild fed to]] [[Characters/KingdomHeartsHeartless the Heartless]].
** [[BigBad Xemnas]] and [[MadScientist Vexen]] crossed it in ''Fragmented Truths'' when they blackmailed Riku Replica into eliminating the real Riku by threatening to kill his friends, deceiving him with the threat of detonating nonexistent bombs planted on Naminé and Roxas. However, it should be noted that the former [[PetTheDog sincerely apologized]] to Riku Replica/Xiruk when confronted over a year later.
** The Organization's siege on Twilight Town is treated as this InUniverse. Though the world was not plunged into darkness, numerous citizens were slaughtered and the survivors left traumatized and homeless.
** Zexion crossed it when he took control of [[TragicMonster Sora]] and forced him to attack Kairi, traumatizing him in the process. Additionally, he was responsible for spearheading the aforementioned destruction of Twilight Town.
** [[WesternAnimation/{{Gargoyles}} Demona]] crossed it well before her debut by routinely using TheHeartless to [[KillAllHumans slaughter humans indiscriminately]], [[WouldHurtAChild children included]].
** [[NominalHero DiZ]] toed the line when he threatened to kill a wounded Aqua and [[ReforgedIntoAMinion turn her remains into a subservient Replica]]. Its no wonder the heroes left him for good after this.
** Terra-Xehanort crossed it prior to the events of the story by [[TestedOnHumans experimenting on living people,]] [[WouldHurtAChild some of whom were children.]] Even worse, he captured Lea and Isa (two children he found sneaking into the castle) and [[ScarsAreForever carved the Recusant's Sigil into the latter's forehead]].
** [[WesternAnimation/{{Hercules}} Hades]] crossed it when he killed [[WesternAnimation/PeterPan Tinker Bell]] in a [[YankTheDogsChain particularly cruel manner]] for no reason than to [[KickTheDog spite the heroes]] for rejecting his [[DealWithTheDevil deal]]. Fortunately, [[DisneyDeath it didn't last]].
** [[WesternAnimation/TheIncredibles Syndrome]] crossed it in his second appearance when he [[ForcedToWatch forced Mr. Incredible to watch]] as his wife and children are seemingly killed in a missile strike, before [[KickTheDog replaying the footage]] ''[[KickTheDog four times]]'' [[KickTheDog to further break his spirit]].
*** And like in the [[WesternAnimation/TheIncredibles original film]], Syndrome tries to kidnap Mr. Incredible's infant son Jack-Jack as a last-ditch attempt to spite the family once his plan is foiled.
** Lexaeus arguably crossed it when he indirectly participated in the above example by fighting off the heroes when they tried to intervene.
** Xaldin crossed it during Act 3's [[WesternAnimation/Frozen2013 Arendelle arc]] when he [[Literature/TheSnowQueen stabbed Elsa in the heart with a shard of enchanted glass]] with the intent of [[TheCorruption forcefully]] [[FaceMonsterTurn transforming]] her into a [[TheHeartless Heartless]] and recruiting her into the [[StandardEvilOrganizationSquad Organization]] as a [[TheSoulless Nobody]].
** If [[WesternAnimation/Frozen2013 Hans]] manipulating [[UnwittingPawn Anna]] and tricking her into a loveless marriage wasn't bad enough, then him [[BreakThemByTalking taunting]] a [[FaceMonsterTurn corrupted]] Elsa with the threat of killing her sister in hopes of [[TheCorruptor pushing her to succumb to darkness]] cemented him as an irredeemable monster.

* ''Fanfic/OathkeepersAwakening''
** [[BigBad Luxu]] crossed it when he used an illusion to trick Naminé into believing that Kairi and Riku were having an affair, with the intention of forming a rift between Kairi and her friends. His [[GasLighting manipulation]] and [[AbusiveParent abuse]] of [[PunchClockVillain Kaguya]], whom he forced to participate in the illusion, is portrayed [[RealismInducedHorror disturbingly realistically]].
** [[WesternAnimation/{{Zootopia}} Doug Ramses]] crossed it by attempting to shoot Kairi with a dark matter-infused Night Howler bullet just as his partner [[spoiler:[[BigBadFriend Jack Savage]]]] had a HeelRealisation. Due to Nick's intervention, the shot missed and hit [[spoiler:Jack]] instead, thereby [[spoiler: turning him into a Heartless and [[HeelFaceDoorSlam depriving him of the opportunity to redeem himself]]]].
** [[WesternAnimation/ThePrincessAndTheFrog Dr. Facilier]] crossed it by betraying his [[RelatedDifferentlyInTheAdaptation sister]] [[Film/Descendants3 Celia Facilier]] [[UngratefulBastard after the latter went out of her way to bring him]] BackFromTheDead. He then [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech verbally tears into her]] and reveals her [[DarkAndTroubledPast troubled backstory]] to the heroes, where it becomes apparent that he crossed the MEH long ago by [[SelfMadeOrphan killing their parents]] and trying to pin the blame on her.

* In ''WebVideo/TheLegendOfZeldaTheSageOfDarkness'', it turns out that the Skull Kid crossed the line years before the story started by [[spoiler: poisoning his sister to death, simply because he didn't like the man she married]].
* The BigBad of ''Fanfic/ZeldasHonor'' actually has a reason why he crossed this line a long time ago; however characters like Barrachas and Thanan seem to be so far beyond this line just for the lulz.

* The Reaper in ''[[https://www.wattpad.com/289034586-the-loud-house-nightmares-chapter-1-nightmares-and The Loud House: Nightmares]]'' crosses it when, after convincing Lincoln that he's a burden and driving him to being an ExtremeDoormat to his sisters (to their clear worry), he says ''that's still not good enough!'' Let me repeat, he utterly destroyed an 11-year-old's personality through fear and made him afraid of his own family and ''wasn't satisfied''.
** The Reaper's backstory gives one to his older brother who set his little brother up for ''being run over by a car''.
* ''Fanfic/ReversalOfFortuneTLH'': Both sides of the conflict are portrayed as going too far in various aspects, though the Louds are constantly seen as even worse while the Silencers will at times have to let the fires burn before taking action.
** Mr. Sweetwater's recruitment of [[NoCelebritiesWereHarmed Marcus Quick]] as a means to deprive the Louds of their key possessions and resources (i.e. Luan's prank supplies, Lisa's lab equipment (sans chemical agents), and their video recordings) by exploiting Lynn Jr.'s [[HeroWorshipper hero worship]] of him [[GoneHorriblyRight ended up working too well]]. After having a threesome with both Lori & Leni (after the story stressed the age of consent), Marcus and his crew [[BadPeopleAbuseAnimals killed all of the pets]] both during and after the Loud House raid, murdered Lord Tetherby, and buried the remains of the Loud pets in the man's backyard.
** Lisa was revealed to have engaged in dangerous affairs that could jeopardize the security of the United States. She has also used a weapon to secretly implant brain-altering tracking chips into many Royal Woods residents, including herself and her family.
** When the Silencers manipulated the electronics in the Loud house to make everyone believe it was April Fools Day, Luan went on an unhinged prank rampage that culminated in the deaths of one of the neighboring families with a BurningBagOfPoop prank that burned their house down.
* In ''Fanfic/WhatIsAPersonWorth'', Chandler crosses it when he and a group of bullies gang up on Lana.
* In ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12162112/1/What-You-Wish-For What You Wish For]]'', the demon starts approaching this by removing Lincoln and Bobby from Lori's life for kicks but ''sails'' over it when it's revealed that [[spoiler:it actually replaced Lucy, an 8-year-old girl, and ''sent her to hell.'' [[EvenEvilHasStandards Even Nao is horrified enough at this]] to help out the other Himes in order to hunt down and defeat her.

[[AC:''Franchise/MassEffect'']]
* In ''Fanfic/TheCouncilEra'', those who've read the series consider it extremely debatable exactly when certain characters (especially the VillainProtagonist Tyrin Lieph and his WorthyOpponent antagonist Halak Marr) crossed the irredeemable line. Tyrin commits numerous horrific acts, including [[spoiler:the mass-murder of the dezban race, the dissolution of the manaban people's religion and government, and the murder of 150,000 krogan in order to force their leader into a compromise,]] but he's also fully aware that he deserves and will receive consequences for his actions. However, he has no regrets, believing that UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans and that he is NecessarilyEvil. In the opinion of the series' author, Tyrin's MoralEventHorizon is his [[spoiler:taking advantage of both his son's death and the Council's and public's sympathy for said death to sway them into supporting the genocide of the dezban race. He antagonized the dezba by killing one of their high chieftains, resulting in the dezban revolt, and thus orchestrated the deaths of 7000 civilians and soldiers in the dezban revolt in order to make the public support the dezban genocide]].
*** In-universe: To his own devoted soldiers, Tyrin's MEH is considered to be [[spoiler:planning to betray his krogan allies in an effort to completely purge the galaxy of their race]].
** During the ending of Part I, Marr threatens to [[spoiler:unleash the power of a fleet of krogan cruisers to destroy the entire Citadel, in retaliation for Tyrin's poisoning of a portion of the krogan military forces, if Tyrin does not allow for the krogans to receive a council seat and the status of being the majority race in the Citadel military]].
* Due to Sovereign indoctrinating the Citadel's inhabitants in ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10804452/18/Mass-Effect-Synthesis Mass Effect: Synthesis]]'', after humanity opens up their Mass Relays to allow for peaceful contact with the Citadel, the Council's immediate response is a biological attack on every human colony in Batarian space. After it's revealed the biological weapon was specifically designed to kill only humans and thus was made through experimenting on human slaves, Harbinger/Shepard outright declares the only thing saving the galaxy from an early reaping is that 7.5% of the Reapers still need to achieve synthesis with as yet unidentified alien individuals.

* ''[[Fanfic/RecklessnessMiraculousLadybug Recklessness]]'': Alya impulsively decides to steal the Ladybug Earrings and Black Cat Ring in order to make a [[RealityWarpingIsNotAToy reality-rewriting Wish]] [[MundaneUtility just to learn Hawkmoth's]] SecretIdentity. What firmly cements her as having crossed the line is her utter LackOfEmpathy after she inadvertently [[spoiler:causes Marinette's brutal death]]. The way she casually shrugs off witnessing [[spoiler:Marinette being murdered by an akumatized Adrien after she paralyzed her with the Bee]], dismissing the reactions of others as 'needlessly overdramatic' since she's about to reset reality with her Wish, makes clear just how much she ''really'' cares about her so-called 'best friend'.
* At first, [[AlphaBitch Chloé]] stealing the earrings and becoming ''Webcomic/ScarletLady'' merely robs Chat Noir of a competent and caring partner, forcing him to shoulder most of the work when battling akumas while his cohort [[GloryHound steals the credit and the fame]]. But she vaults over the line in "Gamer", when she decides that the akuma offers the ''perfect'' opportunity to [[MurderTheHypotenuse get rid of Marinette]]. Not only does she use her yo-yo to trip Marinette while she's trying to run away, once Chat saves her, she leads Gamer on a merry chase after the pair, ruining their attempts to shake him off.

[[AC:Franchise/MonsterVerse]]
* ''Fanfic/AbraxasHrodvitnon'':
** Alan Jonah crosses it when he uses [[TwoBeingsOneBody San and Vivienne Graham]] as guinea pigs for brutal experiments including testing ammunition on them due to their Ghidorah-derived HealingFactor. InUniverse, Vivienne certainly feels he's absolutely crossed the line when it's revealed in Chapter 6 that he's been [[spoiler:using the mercenaries' refugee labor as unwilling test-subjects]] for experiments with Ghidorah's DNA, [[spoiler:turning them into zombies]].
** It's definitely not a case of if but ''when'' Ichi and Ni (the [[MultipleHeadCase middle and right heads]] on Ghidorah) cross the line. The fic's plot occurs partly because Ichi, in response to Vivienne pushing his TraumaButton without even realizing it while Ghidorah was inert in the Antarctic ice, orders San (the left head) to forcibly revive her inside his head and [[ArtificialHybrid remake her into a part-Ghidorah monster]] as a {{fate worse than death}}. They're completely over the line when they capture Vivienne, and Ni as [=MaNi=] gleefully tortures Vivienne and attempts to [[ForcedToWatch kill San]] while Ichi gleefully watches and taunts them]].
** ''Fanfic/AbraxasEmptyFullness'': If [[AbusivePrecursors the Makers]] who oversaw [[StartOfDarkness Ghidorah's creation]] didn't cross it by ''brutally'' converting the Dorats into their three-headed form, then they crossed it by setting the resulting PersonOfMassDestruction that's capable of ''single-handedly erasing civilizations and most other life on a planet-wide scale'' on a rival planet to commit [[FinalSolution total genocide]] against the inhabitants.

[[AC:''Franchise/MortalKombat'']]
* ''Fanfic/MortalKombatDesperation'': [[BigBad Raiden]] torpedoes through the line when he electrocutes Sub-Zero and Frost (and the surviving Lin Kuei, as many of them were killed off or injured by Raiden and his goons) to near-death for [[YoureInsane questioning his methods and not accepting]] [[WellIntentionedExtremist his offer to destroy Outworld]]. Sub-Zero ends up in a comatose state, while Frost suffers electrical burns and is paralyzed (though both of them eventually recover from this ordeal, they're still disabled). The '''worst''' part of this MEH? Many of the Lin Kuei he killed or injured were just in their ''[[WouldHurtAChild early]]'' '''[[WouldHurtAChild teens]]''', and the thunder god [[ItAmusedMe actually found it funny.]]
*** And if ''that'' wasn't bad enough, he tortures Cassie Cage '''twice''' when she calls him out on his misdeeds!
** Hotaru crosses the line when he destroys Li Mei's village (it's possible that many of the villagers were children, women and the elderly). This also becomes the biggest contender for Raiden's MEH, possibly outstripping what he did to the Lin Kuei.
** Kano crossed it when he not only ordered Kabal's death for betraying the Black Dragon, [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil but also raped his widow]], resulting in Kevin's conception. And if that ''wasn't'' bad, he abuses and tortures his son (though his son runs away in chapter 23).

* ''Fanfic/MastermindRiseOfAnarchy'': After [[AccidentalMurder accidentally murdering]] a petty criminal, Katsuki shows how far he's fallen when he gets upset about being put on house arrest... taking it as a ''personal insult'' since he's not being treated like he's as dangerous as [[FromNobodyToNightmare Midoriya]]. Unable to accept the notion that he might be seen as 'weaker' than 'useless Deku', he runs away from home with the intent of becoming the #1 Villain. For the sake of his bruised ego, he's willing to complete his FaceHeelTurn, without a single thought spared to whomever might get hurt in the process.
* ''Fanfic/MyHeroAcademiaEntropy'': [[VillainProtagonist Izuku Midoriya/Seraph]]. If it wasn't bad enough to team up with [[WouldHurtAChild Overhaul]], orchestrating a terrorist attack that kills countless civillians, policemen and Pro Heroes [[spoiler:such as All Might, Gran Torino and Hawks]] during the Black Day, he manages to top '''ALL OF IT''' during the Graduation Ceremony attack. [[spoiler:First he implants a mind control device on Uraraka's brain (note, Hatsume mentions that Uraraka died a dozen times at the operation while implanting it but Overhaul brought her back to life), blows up the U.A. campus, forces Uraraka to kill Aizawa, releases her from his control, and has Hagakure to cut her throat, so she can feel her own death at the hands of her former friend.]] And what [[spoiler:Uraraka]] did to deserve such a cruel and sadistic fate? [[EvilIsPetty They really pissed Midoriya off.]]
* ''Fanfic/OneForAllAndEightForTheNinth'':
** The President of the Hero Commission crossed it when she decided to brand as a villain accomplice anyone who gives the slightest support towards the Tea Spillers, for something as simple as ''commenting'' on their videos.
** The MLA, more specifically, Curious, crossed it during the beginning of the War arc, with the Valentine's Day Attack. [[spoiler:Curious used her Quirk on several dozens of MLA foot soldiers, turning them into bombs without their knowledge or consent, and sending them in suicidal bombings across the country. These soldiers were chosen mostly because their Quirks were weak and useless for the MLA cause.]]

[[AC:''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'']]
* In ''Fanfic/AceCombatTheEquestrianWar'', the griffins are ordered by General Silverbeak to kidnap fillies and use them as hostages to demoralize ponies in the ''first phase'' of the war. But it is revealed in chapter 14 that it was an order of [[spoiler:Red Cyclone]]. Then, his plan [[FinalSolution comes into the picture]]...
** There is also [[spoiler:Gilda]] torturing Medley and threatening to rip her wings off after the latter saves Rainbow Dash, who was being subjected to a brutal NoHoldsBarredBeatdown while being immobilized by four other griffins. Not only did [[spoiler:Gilda]] betray Dash's trust, she later breaks Medley's wings [[ForTheEvulz anyway]].
* It's clearly played for laughs but, in ''[[http://www.fimfiction.net/story/188223/crystal-affair Crystal Affair]]'', Shining Armor (of all ponies) crosses it when he asks Spike to help him renew his wedding vows with Cadence... ...''While he's cheating on her.'' To make matters worse, the mare he's with is Rarity, who is going steady with Spike. Spike is horrified.
* ''Fanfic/TheConversionBureauTheOtherSideOfTheSpectrum''. There are even some characters InUniverse pointing these out.
** Aside from [[AssimilationPlot the standard TCB fare]], the MirrorUniverse Celestia also exterminated all of the Changelings, the dragons (except [[spoiler:TCB!Spike, whom she imprisoned and [[ColdBloodedTorture viciously tortured]]]]), the reindeer, and the minotaurs (except Iron Will). The griffins, zebras, and buffaloes were spared, but it's clear their relationships with the Solar Empire are very uneasy, and some TCB ponies are even seriously contemplating turning them all into the next victims of the potion. TCB!Trixie considers TCB!Spike's to be all of Equestria's MEH.
** The TheManBehindTheMan of the story, [[spoiler:[[ArtifactOfDoom the Bag of Tirek]], has its own -- its entire motivation is to [[DisproportionateRetribution get revenge against]] ''[[DisproportionateRetribution the entire human race]]'' because [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyTVSpecials Megan]] defeated its creator a thousand years prior. And according to Discord, it'll only keep going, [[MultiversalConqueror conquering and subjugating other worlds]]]].
** [[LesCollaborateurs The PER]] has its own when it's revealed they will infiltrate maternity wards to convert newborn babies. This is considered an MEH in universe as well, because no one hesitates to kill them on sight.
* In ''[[http://www.fimfiction.net/story/88072/the-conversion-bureau-final-message The Conversion Bureau: Final Message]]'', Celestia's crimes are so horrific that the alien alliance who find Earth have to invent terms for them such as "Crimes against sentience". In fact, the judge reciting her crimes has to stop because he just can't keep reading.
* In ''Fanfic/TheDeathOfPrincessLuna'', the bad guys kidnap Princess Luna and [[DeathFakedForYou fool nearly everypony into thinking she's dead]], driving them into deep sadness, [[DespairEventHorizon especially Celestia]]. Their obstinately delusional justifications of this and the inhumane way they keep Luna [[BunkerWoman imprisoned in seclusion]] and prepared for death [[KnightTemplar as protection of Equestria]] from [[spoiler:Nightmare Moon (who they believe has killed Luna and taken her place)]] make them easily very hateful. If all of this doesn't seal the deal, then their leader's final act of [[spoiler:nearly killing Luna right after she has been rescued and joyfully reunited with her sister]] does it.
* ''Fanfic/TheNuptialverse''
** In ''Families'', Olive Branch and Speedy Delivery are already unpleasant characters to begin with, the former waging an anti-Celestia campaign using smear tactics and the latter [[AbusiveParents constantly abusing Scootaloo]]. Both of them cross the horizon, however, when [[spoiler:Speedy Delivery drugs and kidnaps Soarin and Rainbow Dash on the orders of Olive Branch, who also has Twilight assaulted and kidnapped as well.]]
** In ''[[VillainEpisode Metamorphosis]]'', it's revealed that Discord was responsible for murdering the founders of Equestria (while having the [[FauxAffablyEvil same personality]] as in the show). Not only that, he also killed Celestia and Luna's family when they first rebelled, also [[WhoWantsToLiveForever making the two immortal so they can't join them in death.]]
* ''Fanfic/FriendshipIsFailure'' has [[Fanfic/TheEndOfEnds Count Logan]] cross it when he [[OffWithHisHead decapitates]] [[spoiler:Flurry Heart]], [[WouldHurtAChild a very young foal]], right in front of her parents.
* ''Fanfic/AFutureOfFriendshipAHistoryOfHate'': [[BigBad Ruinate]] technically crossed the line a few billion years ago when he became an OmnicidalManiac for no other reason than spiting his fellow [[BenevolentPrecursors Sentiox]]. Within the time frame of the story, however, he crosses it when he [[spoiler:renders Twilight an EmptyShell]] in order to neutralize the Elements of Harmony. And then, for an added layer of KickTheDog, mocks the rest of the Mane Six about it.
* ''FanFic/GettingBackOnYourHooves'': [[BigBad Checker Monarch]], having already done plenty of terrible things in her quest to ruin Trixie's life, crosses the line when she [[spoiler:{{Mind Rape}}s Rainbow Dash with a dream infiltration spell (which is illegal to even ''use'' if you're not a doctor)]] in order to turn her on Trixie. Even the Diamond Dogs she's employed as her {{Mooks}} are [[EvenEvilHasStandards disturbed by that]].
* ''Fanfic/TheGodEmpressOfPonykind'': [[spoiler:The Siege (and Sack) of Manehattan]] is one for Nightmare Moon and her Traitor Legions; [[spoiler:The Daughters of Manehattan Legion is massacred (only fifty survive ''out of a thousand Legionnaires''), any civilians that get caught up in the fighting are tortured and killed (including foals and an unborn child), and the entire city is burned to the ground]].
* ''Fanfic/HarmonyTheory'': The resident criminal mastermind Max Cash, was a FauxAffablyEvil scumbag who routinely committed murders and other crimes, with a complete LackOfEmpathy from the beginning. But, he really crossed the line, after a the locale noble of a rural town, High Fashion, takes him and his [[TheDragon bodyguard/enforcer]] in. After which point, Max confronts [[DarkIsNotEvil Column, a changeling agent]], that got caught up in the same conspiracy as him, [[spoiler: followed by Max revealing Column's species in public, before ordering the massacre of the town to cover his tracks under the guise of a changeling attack. Which he follows up on, by using his magic to drive the a communication crystal operate to suicide to cut off communications and then ''setting a school on fire'' '''[[ForTheEvulz for no reason what so ever.]]''']] After which, he returns to the noble's mansion, where his right hand mare [[DarkActionGirl Charisma]] has finished killing the towns defacto defender and is about to finish off [[ActionGirl Melody]], High Fashion's body guard as well, until Max interrupts the fight to [[TheFarmerAndTheViper "repay" their kindness by brainwashing High Fashion]] and ordering her to stand down, so he can MindRape her into staying by her master's side, even ''after'' [[spoiler: Max [[PsychicAssistedSuicide has High Fashion kill himself]]]]. Just to add insult to injury, after Melody catches up to him and calls him out for ruining her whole life, he not only brushes it off, but also reveals he [[ButForMeItWasTuesday barley even remembers what she's talking about.]]
* ''Fanfic/HeirOfTheNightmare'':
** Twilight tries to find reason within her mother, [[LukeIAmYourFather Nightmare Moon]], until she discovered that Nightmare ''[[EyeScream blinded]] ''[[TheCutie Fluttershy]]'' with dark magic. [[InUniverse After that]], Twilight realizes that she simply couldn't reason with her mother.
** [[spoiler: [[SuperpoweredEvilSide Nightmare Nova]] crosses it when she burns down Ponyville, killing over two hundred ponies without a hint of remorse.]].
* In ''Fanfic/TheImmortalGame'', [[TheDragon General Esteem]] crosses it ''before he's even officially introduced'', when it's revealed that he was the one who forced the [[ArtifactOfDoom Sliver of Darkness]] into Twilight [[spoiler:by pushing it through her ''{{Eye|Scream}}'']], thus turning her into [[SuperpoweredEvilSide Nihilus]].
** Speaking of whom, Nihilus crosses it in her first appearance, {{Mind Rap|e}}ing Rainbow Dash in order to turn her into her servant, before attempting to kill the other Mane Six.
** Titan does very little throughout the story, but when he enters the scene, his first action is [[spoiler:[[YouHaveFailedMe to kill his depowered son in cold blood.]]]] But it turns out he crossed that line long before the then present of the story began when [[spoiler:he used the Insanity on Terra (his daughter) and ordered her to hunt ponies into near-extinction, creating the Terra who would torture her own children in cold blood.]]
* ''Fanfic/ItTakesAVillage'': this is done in Chapter 10 by [[spoiler:those who want Spike out of Ponyville when someone launches a ''harpoon'' at Spike while he's flying with ponies on his back.]]
* In the MLP fanfic ''[[http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/11/story-my-sweetie_22.html My Sweetie]]'', during a flashback, [[spoiler:Derpy's mom crosses it when she abandons Derpy in the Everfree Forest simply because Derpy's presence cuts into time shared with Derpy's dad]].
* In ''Fanfic/LovedAndLost'', [[EvilAllAlong Prince Jewelius]] helps Twilight Sparkle to stop the Changeling invasion, but he immediately afterwards steals the throne by tricking everypony to blame all the other heroes[[note]]the princesses, Shining Armor, the rest of the Mane Six, and Spike[[/note]] for what they suffered because of the invasion, banishing them from Equestria. However, he crosses his MEH in the 11th chapter's [[JustBetweenYouAndMe private moment]] between him and the imprisoned heroes by explaining to them the true scope of villainy; [[spoiler:he set the Changelings to attack Canterlot on his cousin Cadance's wedding day before double-crossing them at the last minute, just to claim the throne and dispose of Cadance and their aunt Celestia, both of whom he [[GreenEyedMonster hates for their superior popularity]]. He also heartlessly gloats about how he used Twilight's sadness over [[MadeOutToBeAJerkass the rejection of her loved ones]] to [[CorruptTheCutie trick her into disowning them in retaliation]] and take him as her new mentor and [[LoveInterestTraitor fiancé]], is planning to use her as [[DarwinistDesire a broodmare]] he can dispose of should a more powerful unicorn mare be found, will kill Cadance while making it look like he's trying to save her, has already [[ThePurge wiped out all the Royal Guards]] who were [[SickbedSlaying injured]] during the invasion and [[UndyingLoyalty remained loyal]] to the princesses, and sets Celestia to be hanged the next day]].
* ''Fanfic/MirrorsImage'': Blueblood is still a snob, but unlike most fics he's in, he is not portrayed as irredeemable from the outset and has some good qualities like his care for Princess Luna, and his own crush on Twilight. [[spoiler:Unfortunately, he can't believe that Twilight is now a changeling, and believes that the changeling before her has brainwashed everypony. So he puts on the Alicorn Amulet, and goes after Changeling Twilight, and when her parents intervene, he unleashes a curse that kills Twilight's mother.]]
* ''Fanfic/PonyPOVSeries'':
** [[spoiler:Loneliness crosses this ''in her first appearance'' by ''impaling'' Twilight and breaking Trixie's leg. While she'd done some awful things before then, this was the point where it showed Trixie wasn't as much of a MoralityPet for her as it seemed.]]
** Don't forget [[spoiler:The Nameless Passenger aka Nightmare Paradox/Eclipse aka ''Twilight Sparkle'', who became a Nightmare just to punish Discord for his crimes... then decided he hadn't been punished ''enough'', so she ''trapped everyone in a time loop for hundreds of millions of years, just to keep punishing Discord'', not giving a flying buck about anyone else.]] In other words, [[spoiler:she]] hasn't crossed the Moral Event Horizon so much as pole vaulted over it with a rocket-powered pogo stick.
* ''Fanfic/TriptychContinuum'': About ''[[Recap/TriptychContinuumTriptych Triptych]]'': With TheReveal in chapter 28 that Gentle Arrival is already ''eagerly'' looking forward to repeating the exact same experiment that created ''her'' on a new test subject, an experiment that involves a ''Device'' considered an abomination by every right-thinking pony and which has created an unfortunate in eternal pain, many readers found he had completely crossed over into official villainhood.
* In ''[[http://www.fimfiction.net/story/89379/vengeance-of-dawn Vengeance of Dawn]]'', Breaking Dawn crosses it when she gives Cadence a poison that has no cure. (It doesn't kill her, but it does wipe her memories to the point where she can't even remember her own name.) Even Dawn herself is horrified when she sees the results of her actions first hand. (It doesn't stop her from continuing her plan, though.)

[[AC:''Franchise/{{Naruto}}'']]
* Sasuke in ''Fanfic/{{Eroninja}}'' is finally considered beyond redemption by Naruto when he tries to kill his own mother for having informed Konoha of the Uchiha clan's coup. After saving Mikoto, Naruto stops trying to bring Sasuke back to Konoha and starts trying to kill him.
** Other Konoha shinobi consider Sasuke beyond redemption when, during a plot to break out several high security prisoners, Sasuke has [[spoiler:Iruka]] killed, mostly because while every other death is to insure the plan's success, [[spoiler:Iruka's]] was only because Sasuke knew it would hurt Naruto.
* ''Fanfic/{{Hakumei}}'':
** Danzo crosses it by killing the Third Hokage in the first chapter.
** Yumi crosses it by killing Hana in order to get the Mangekyou Sharingan in Chapter 32. The only thing that may bring her back is that she promised Hana to not kill Kiba, who overheard her do it.
* ''Naruto Asunder'': The reason Naruto kills Sasuke. Partly due to a JourneyToTheCenterOfTheMind on Sasuke's insane mind and partly...:
-->'''Nagato:''' Did the Uchiha kill a friend of yours?\
'''Naruto:''' Yeah.\
'''Nagato:''' So you killed him for revenge?\
'''Naruto:''' No. Never for revenge.\
'''Nagato:''' Then why did you?\
'''Naruto:''' He killed Sakura.\
'''Nagato:''' Excuse me?\
'''Naruto:''' Sakura always believed in Sasuke. At some point I did, but I just gave up on him. But she... never did. She believed that Sasuke still had some light beneath all the darkness. She never gave up on him. So him killing her, the last person who thought he was good. That just showed he was beyond redemption.
* ''Fanfic/TruePotential'':
** During the Kiri Civil War arc, the "bloodline hunter" Karitoriki quickly shows himself to be an irredeemable monster when not only does he whip up a civilian village's toxic hatred of people with Bloodline Limits, but he takes out five captive and brutalizes Bloodline-bearing people for a public execution. When Shikamaru and Haku show up to save them and take him out, he gleefully activates a series of explosive seals on the five captives' hearts that explode their chests and kill them all instantly, with the victims including a surviving member of Haku's clan and [[WouldHurtAChild a sobbing, terrified 8-year-old girl]] whom Shikamaru [[HopeSpot had just promised to get to safety and freedom]].
** At the end of the Takigakure Invasion arc, Suien and Kakuzu, upon realizing their side is losing and they're likely going to die, both decide to try and kill as many Taki civilians as they can before they go down. While Anko manages to stop and kill Suien before he can pull it off, Naruto and Hinata aren't so lucky with Kakuzu.
** In an effort to ruin Jiraiya's attempts to negotiate peace with the Fourth Raikage and Kumogakure, Danzo has Fū Yamanaka and Torune Aburame follow Jiraiya's group to the meeting ground, murder the Raikage's trusted bodyguard Cee, and try their damndest to kill him as well (or, failing that, turn him even further against Konoha).
** The battle between Onoki and Rōshi vs. Suzumebachi and Edo-Tensei Mū sees multiple crossings of the MEH. First, Suzumebachi bringing along the Second Tsuchikage as a revenant is seen by Onoki as a disgusting violation (and even Mū himself thinks of the whole affair as "morally bankrupt", even if he doesn't agree with the direction Onoki has taken the village in). Then, when Rōshi is beaten down, he pleads with Son Goku, the 4-Tailed Beast, for more power, even using his name. Instead, the 4-Tails refuses and forces Rōshi into unconsciousness out of petty spite, laughing as he leaves his Host unable to help and stop what comes next. That "comes next" being Suzumebachi, after winning by exhausting Onoki into unconsciousness, [[spoiler:coldly murdering him. This is also seen in-universe as a MEH crossing - the entirety of the spectating population of Iwa, even the plentiful people who'd been supporting Suzumebachi's bid for the Tsuchikage position, go mute with shocked horror and are soon baying for her blood and cheering on Kurotsuchi as she rushes Suzumebachi in a grief-stricken rage.]]

[[AC:''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'']]
* ''Fanfic/TheChildOfLove'': Gendo crossed it to the eyes of the whole cast when his gambit is revealed: [[spoiler:he used drugs to heighten Asuka’s sexual drive so that she had sex with someone and got pregnant. Then he mixed DNA agents in the LCL her body was submerged into to modify her foetus genetically in order to create a super-pilot.]]

* In ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3311845/1/Its_a_Wonderfully_Splendid_Magnificent_Life It's a Wonderfully Splendid Magnificent Life]]'', Tamaki's grandmother crosses it by threatening to withhold funding for Tamaki's mother's health care if he goes to see her while she is in danger of dying. Neither Tamaki nor his father have any reason to doubt her; Tamaki is pushed far enough over the DespairEventHorizon to [[ItsAWonderfulPlot wonder if he should never have left France]], and Tamaki's father shows his contempt for her by not referring to her by anything other than "[[HeyYou she]]", as "He did not want to admit to having any sort of the relationship with the woman who was, by an accident of fate and genetics, his own mother."

[[AC:''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'']]
* In the fanfic ''Fanfic/BraveNewWorld'', [[DirtyCoward Paul]] crosses this by betraying his clan simply because they locked him away after he stole a forbidden scroll, which leads to almost all of them being killed...with the exception of Dawn and [[spoiler:Palmer]].

[[AC:''Franchise/PowerRangers'']]
* Lord Zedd crosses the MoralEventHorizon in the infamous ''Agony In Pink'' by creating Tortura, a monster made from books about the human anatomy and torture, to torture Kimberly to death in order to demoralize the rest of the Power Rangers.
* Several villains in the ContinuityPorn-filled ''Franchise/PowerRangers'' DarkFic series ''Fanfic/PropheciesOfTheMorphingGrid'' cross this, fittingly enough for a DarkFic, and more disturbingly, most of these villains are completely human:
** The first we're made aware of is [[Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles Shredder]] (yes, he's in this; ContinuityPorn, remember?) reorganizing the Foot by having any member with any [[EvenEvilHasStandards standards]] whatsoever brutally killed, then dumping their corpses in the sewer for the protagonists to find.
** The most extreme example goes to President Fullenton, who, while he had begun flirting with KnightTemplar-ism while fighting the war against the revived United Alliance of Evil, initially seemed like a decent enough guy. ''Then'' he spectacularly [[JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope toboggans down the slippery slope]] to become a PresidentEvil by firing a KillSat at [[ThrowawayCountry the nation of Sudan]] (which had allied with the UAE), burning every living thing within said nation to a horrible, horrible death. The later revelation that [[spoiler:he's actually one of the leaders of the UAE, and had been playing both sides of the war to increase his own power and subvert the governments of Earth from within (the author's favorite villain in anything is [[Franchise/StarWars Darth Sidious]], can't you tell?)]] just seems like a formality after this.
** Senator John Thorne, leader of an [[FantasticRacism anti-alien hate group]], crosses when he has his men massacre a defenseless alien refugee camp, treating us toscenes of soldiers doing things like burning down houses, then throwing alien children into the fire. [[Series/PowerRangersSPD Kat Manx]], who was serving as a doctor to the camp, is the only survivor.
** Mr. Stonefeld, [[CorruptCorporateExecutive crooked Texas oilman]] and OmniscientCouncilOfVagueness member, crosses when, after the Rangers leave for space [[spoiler:to gather a resistance movement against Fullenton's aforementioned subverted government]], has a hit put out on their families still on Earth, to break their spirit. These are actual characters we'd recognize from the TV show, and we get to watch (err, read) them die in loving detail.
** Biotechnology mogul Jacob Russell crossed retroactively, when it's revealed that he had Trini's lovable old Uncle Howard (again, an actual character from the show) murdered and his death made to look like a suicide for his scientific research.
** Another retroactive crossing goes to Gregory Roschin, the head of the aforementioned OmniscientCouncilOfVagueness, when in the '80s he had the entire Yeti race wiped out for their fur (ever wonder why Norg was the only one we saw?). Stonefeld helped with this one, too.
** And yet another retroactive one goes to [[spoiler:Captain Logan]] (yes, that's right, [[spoiler:the BigGood from ''[[Series/PowerRangersTimeForce Time Force]]'']]), when it's revealed he shot Ransik's wife, simply for ''giving birth to'' a mutant (she was completely human).
* The elven military Commander Ragnar crosses this pretty quickly in ''FanFic/PowerRangersGPX''. Ragnar is nothing like a lot of villains from the main series, since he's willing to have his subordinates kidnap and murder innocent bystanders. But what showed he was a ruthless villain was the aptly-titled episode [[spoiler:DeadlineNews]] where he [[spoiler:has a number of would-be Rangers kidnapped, taken to Madison, and put on air, threatening to kill them if the Rangers don't show up in time. [[YouAreTooLate The Rangers don't make it]] and he ''kills'' a German Ranger trainee ''live on the air''.]]
* ''Fanfic/PowerRangersWingForce'':
** Predictra crosses the line by {{Gaslighting}} Carrie to the point where she thinks she’s going to die.
** Halatia crosses the line in chapter 11, by murdering [[ItMakesSenseInContext Lulu’s teddy bear]].
** Uuhcura, Kuroden and Aobrix all crossed it before the story began, by destroying multiple planets.
** Algrin crosses this when he murders Avior in cold blood. If that doesn’t do it, then he sabotaged his superior’s plans, leaving him at the mercy of the Rangers.
** Said superior, Cannant also crosses the line, with his plan to destroy a who,e town after infecting them with a disease to turn everyone into ant-men.
** Tann crosses this by turning the humans he captured into batteries for his Orpheus.
** Fwelf crosses the line when he threatens to have Galvahex scrapped for fraternising with humans. [[spoiler: Small wonder Galvahex [[LaserGuidedKarma stopped considering him an essential life form and left him to die in the destruction of the ship]].]]

[[AC:''Anime/PrettyCure'']]
* ''Fanfic/PrettyCurePerfumePreppy'' has Raflesina [[spoiler:making an assassination attempt on Ashley -- her own daughter]].
* In ''Fanfic/PrettyCureHeavyMetal'', Ramirez uses an Akumana to possess W. Benny Bara, and Kuroimetaru [[spoiler:offs Gacy without waiting for Lady Marilyn's orders. Even Lady Marilyn herself saw the act as the point of no return, warning him that she'd execute him if he wasn't so vital to Mansonia's security.]] It's no surprise, given his constantly killing innocent bystanders -- he tap-dances over the Moral Event Horizon four times each day before breakfast. An example would be when he fed someone to the sharks and left a note reading "[[BondOneLiner He disagreed with something that ate him.]]" in episode 41.
* In ''Fanfic/PrettyCureFullColor'', Furyze [[spoiler:bumps off Belldandy using the very attack meant for the Cures]].
* In ''Fanfic/BokuraWaGaiaPrettyCure'', Canis [[spoiler:[[HeelFaceDoorSlam offs Rheo right before he could switch sides]]]].
* Kainatrol from ''Fanfic/FutariWaPrettyCureBlueMoon'' [[spoiler:erases her own sister from existence in front of the man she was going to run away with, then gives him the choice of joining the Etherium or being erased with the rest of the world. 378* ''Fanfic/OldWest'': The estranged husband of Grace Glossy, Benjamin Hares, is quickly confirmed to be the cowardly swindler he was heavily implied to be long before he first appears — after all, he left his pregnant wife high and dry to escape his debts. When he shows up and pretends to be apologetic, he tries to sell Grace's lands behind her back so that the BigBad would cover his debts. When Grace declares that they're done for good and tries to throw Benjamin out, he crosses his MEH by [[DomesticAbuse beating up Grace]] in response while relishing in it. Though Benjamin gets his comeuppance [[spoiler:by the vengeful fangs of Rattlesnake Jake]], [[HeroicBSOD Grace's sense of self-esteem is destroyed for a good while afterwards]].

** The girls who [[spoiler: drugged the 15-year-old girl (that would become the privateer), stripped her naked, took pictures, and posted them online.]]

[[AC:''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'']]
* ''Fanfic/ProfessorArc'': An InUniverse example. Jaune starts the story mostly fearful of Cinder, and angered by her attempts at sabotaging his career. But when Cinder starts playing mind games with Beacon's students, and driving them and his co-workers to despair, Jaune realizes how toxic she really is, and resolves to take her down.
* ''Fanfic/ARabbitAmongWolves'': The story is about Jaune waging war against Faunus discrimination. But there are several characters who really stand out in their abuse.
** Elizabeth Tanner initially reveals herself to be a somewhat duplicitous, but still reasonable, [=SDC=] manager. [[spoiler:But then she tries to force herself sexually on Jaune, and Trifa reveals she had done this to several faunus men before. InUniverse, this leads to Tanner's arrest and blacklisting by other segments of society]].
** Rosemary and Thyme cross the line hard when they drive spikes through the ears of a donkey Faunus, Swan, and then attempt to blackmail her into silence when confronted.
* ''Fanfic/TeamLVDR'':
** Blaze opens the story slaughtering the guards is his prison, even the fleeing ones.
** Indus crossed it long before his first appearance with his faunus trafficking business.
** Zoe and August [[spoiler: attempting to slaughter the Beacon dance.]]
* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13492440/1/Null Null]]'':
** Blake crosses it when she [[spoiler:tricks Jaune, steals his scroll, and leaves him alone in a city that wants him dead]].
** To many readers, [[spoiler:Team RWBY and Penny]] became irredeemable after they caused the death of [[spoiler:Juniper Arc]]. This is particularly the case for the latter, who pulled the trigger and murdered her. Their lack of remorse after the fact further solidified this, [[spoiler:particularly for Yang who thinks Jaune deserved to lose her and says she is glad Penny died.]]
** For others, [[spoiler:Jaune himself crossed this for his cold-blooded torture (and attempted murder) of Ruby, even if it was in retaliation for his mother's death. He specifically only shoots her because she was Yang's sister and he wanted to cause her as much as pain as possible, even though Roman had already called for his retreat]]. In an interesting take on this trope, he's well aware that he's crossed the line now, but considering what caused him to do it, he can't bring himself to care and doesn't regret it.
** Of all people, [[spoiler:Ozpin crosses it in chapter 29 when he decides to go along with the Atlas Council and sentence Jaune to death, even though Ironwood presented all of his evidence suggesting that it was Penny who truly started the conflict]]. Though, he crossed it much earlier when he [[spoiler:kidnapped Amber Arc and put her into a coma again for reasons not yet clear]].
** If Chivalric Arms' CEO Matthew Fields didn't cross it at the very beginning of the story by creating the entire conspiracy that Jaune now finds himself in, he definitely crossed it when he [[spoiler:revealed that he is intending to make a compound that only affects Faunus and is perfectly willing to test it on innocent people]].
** [[spoiler:Pietro Polendina]] has definitely crossed it, the only question is where. For some, it was [[spoiler:sending Penny to Vale even though he knew about the massive security breach she posed thanks to Chivalric Arms]], for others it was [[spoiler:responding to Penny's murder of at least twenty innocent people by seeking protection from the Atlas council and refusing to take responsibility for what she did]], and just in case there was any doubt, [[spoiler:he lies to Penny when she wakes up and says that she did nothing wrong with.]] The lie is so horrible that even she can see through it, and she begins to mentally spiral downwards even though what happened wasn't technically her fault.
** The Atlas Council crosses it in Chapter 40. While [[spoiler:putting a KillOnSight order on Jaune was ruthless, there was at least enough logic behind it to not qualify. However, after Jaune and Team RWBY work together to take down Chivalric Arms and kill Matthew Fields for good, the Council deliberately hides Jaune's involvement and give Team RWBY full credit for uncovering the conspiracy, further slandering him as a mass murderer just so they can keep their story intact even though they actually know for a fact that it's not true]].

* In the ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'' fanfic ''Fanfic/PrisonIslandBreak'', Head Warden Mephiles is consistently portrayed as pretty awful, but the specific moment you're supposed to realize he's worse than ''any'' of the cons is when he bullies prison doctor Amy Rose into [[spoiler:performing humiliating sexual acts for his pleasure, while taking photographs to use against her as blackmail material in the future, ''just in case''.]] And then just as he's about to leave, he turns around and tells her ''she'' is the one who is a disgrace.

** The leader of the Octobusters crosses the line when [[spoiler:he, Cyalux Clover, betrays his two childhood friends, Samuel and Luke, simply for siding with octolings. 435* In ''Fanfic/TheEndOfEnds'', Count Logan ([[spoiler:a.k.a. Beast Boy]]) crosses this by having his minions destroy Tamaran for the sole purpose of spiting Starfire and Robin's coupling, though he crosses it earlier on by killing people for simply having nice lives.

Yuyuko picks the little yukkuri up before then proceeding to [[spoiler:'''snarf it down right in front of its poor mother''' -- and ''then'' telling the distraught mother yukkuri that the baby was nothing but a snack to her, and that this is the reason she's been caring for her]]. 501** In 20XXIII, we have this with Seija when she attempts to brainwash Yukari into killing Reimu, Shimmy, Chen, and Ran's babies just because she sees them as a hindrance, nevermind the fact that she is the reason as to why resources are running scarce. According to Yuyuko in a few [[NoodleIncident Noodle Incidents]], Seija also seems to have a killing streak, seeing that she's caused more than a few deaths.

** Cackletta [[spoiler:sacrificing one million lives and destroying Rogueport as the Shadow Queen just so she can prolong her own life]] is merely ONE of many instances where she crossed the MEH.
** [[spoiler:There is also Dimentio, who crossed this again when it is revealed that he purposely ruined Blumiere and Lady Timpani's life just to further his plans to get the Chaos Heart.]] What is particularly bad about this example is that [[spoiler:this is a MEH crossed by hundreds upon hundreds of alternate universe Luigis as well.]]

For one, they beat the living daylights out of both Miku and Rin, ''during a concert'', because they were convinced they caused their former boyfriends, Mikuo and Len, to break up with them, [[MisBlamed even though they were completely innocent]]. Another possible crossing point is when they create an electric barrier around the stage so that no one could help them. And judging by how much they were enjoying everyone's suffering...
* In the ''Franchise/{{Naruto}}'' RP Tropers/SuperSaiyaMan does with Tropers/{{Lightsnake}}, they created a villain for their said RP named Hiro. 520** In another ''Naruto'' RP Forum, one that has has several nasty villains, the one that really made an effort was [[HumanoidAbomination Byakuya.]] At first, he just seemed like a goofy CloudCuckoolander scared of his DragonInChief.
