!!General
[[folder: All]]
* AerithAndBob: There are weird names like "Stumpy" and "Quack Quack", but there's also a guy named Olaf. This is discussed in Seasons 4 and 5, which reveal that these names are considered bizarre in-universe as well. Quack-Quack was named by a young Kaeloo when she found his egg, Stumpy's family is known for giving terrible names to their children that everyone else finds ridiculous, and Mr. Cat has the fairly normal first name of Hector.
* AscendedToCarnivorism: Stumpy, Pretty and Eugly can sometimes be seen eating meat products.
* CastFullOfCrazy: Every single character on the show is unstable and unhinged, and it's stated in-universe that the four main characters are all in need of serious therapy for their issues.
* ComedicSociopathy: With the exceptions of Quack Quack and Eugly, they all exhibit this.
* CryingCritters: Despite being animals, all of them have cried at some point in the show. [[NotSoAboveItAll Yes, even Mr. Cat.]]
* DirtyKid: Kaeloo is a CovertPervert, but Stumpy, Mr. Cat, Pretty and even Quack Quack have openly shown how perverted they are.
* DysfunctionJunction:
** Kaeloo is obsessed with perfection.
** Stumpy is an [[TheDitz idiot]] who has no sense of reality, who has even [[TheyKilledKennyAgain gotten himself]] ''[[TooDumbToLive killed]]'' on more than one occasion by doing stupid things.
** Quack Quack is addicted to [[GRatedDrug yogurt]], and is still traumatized by the death of his parents.
** Mr. Cat, the worst of the lot, is an AxCrazy preteen sadomasochist who murders people for fun and has been arrested at least once.
** Pretty (in the earlier seasons) is a shallow, superficial AlphaBitch. Her {{narcissis|t}}m causes her to endanger herself by doing things like buying a dress that was several sizes too small and forcing herself to lose enough weight to make it fit her, and she screams at, abuses, and manipulates anyone who dares to stand against her.
** Eugly is a shy ExtremeDoormat who spends her time being abused and ridiculed by the other characters.
** Olaf is a megalomaniac with delusions of grandeur who wants to TakeOverTheWorld. One episode even has him build a giant statue of himself and force the citizens of [[CrapsaccharineWorld Smileyland]] to worship it.
** Game Rule is essentially a dictator who will punish anyone for actions that are even ''slightly'' out of line.
** Cramoisie spends every waking minute of her life trying to find new ways to insult the people around her, including people she just met, [[ForTheEvulz for no reason at all]].
** Lavanade has the power to summon spirits and uses this ability to [[DisproportionateRetribution summon ghosts to mob anyone who minorly inconveniences her.
** Nombril is obsessed with drawing attention to herself, to the point where she ignores her surroundings and nearly ends up in danger several times.
** Poucave has zero respect for the boundaries of anyone around her and will gladly break into places to hide and spy on people before spreading their personal information for the sake of "journalism".
* FourFingeredHands: All of them except Olaf have these. Justified, since they're animals.
** Averted when Kaeloo and Mr. Cat turn into humans in Episode 176. Their human forms have five fingers on each hand.
* FunnyAnimal: A frog, a squirrel, a duck, a cat, two rabbits and a penguin.
* HumanlikeHandAnatomy: All of them have human-like FourFingeredHands even though the real life version of the animals don't. Quack Quack and Olaf have hands that are flat like wings, though.
* InterspeciesFriendship: Standard for shows featuring {{Funny Animal}}s. This is an interesting case, though, as they [[WithFriendsLikeThese aren't particularly nice to each other a lot of the time]], ''especially'' in the case of the downright villainous and AxCrazy Mr. Cat.
* KidsAreCruel: All of them are children/preteens and considering [[SadistShow what kind of show this is]], all of them have their moments of cruelty; even the kinder characters, like Quack-Quack and Ardoise, have some meaner moments.
* MeaningfulName:
** "Kaeloo" means "frog" in Japanese (カエル - "Kaeru").
** Subverted with Stumpy. [[WhatCouldHaveBeen He was originally going to have no arms]], but he does have arms in the show proper. However, the name "Stumpy"/"Moignon" stuck.
** Quack Quack [[TheUnintelligible can only say "quack".]]
** Mr. Cat is a [[ShapedLikeItself cat]]. His first name is Hector, which means "holding fast", highlighting his nature as a {{determinator}} who has successfully managed to deal with most of his struggles in life.
** Pretty is pretty and Eugly (pronounced "ugly")... isn't.
** Olaf's name means "ancestral heritage"; being born an emperor penguin was what spurred his decision to TakeOverTheWorld.
** Ardoise's name means "slate". A slate is used for doing mathematical calculations, something which Ardoise does all the time.
** Cramoisie's name means "crimson" and she always wears red.
** Poucave's name means "snitch". Poucave is a character who tells everyone information that was meant to stay a secret.
** Vitamine's name means "vitamin". Vitamins give you energy, and Vitamine is hyperactive.
* TheMentallyDisturbed: One episode explained how the main four, Pretty, and Eugly all need therapy. Olaf was absent in this episode, but other episodes suggest that he is also insane.
* MinorLivingAlone: Most of the episodes show the characters, who are all kids/preteens, living alone. However, the show has horrible continuity issues, so a few episodes show the characters who ''do'' have parents[[note]]A couple of them don't[[/note]] living at home with their parents.
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: While Mr. Cat is the worst when it comes to this, all of them are prone to doing things that children shouldn't do, like drinking, using weapons [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking or swearing]]. Pretty has gotten a facelift in the past and they are all [[DirtyKid fairly perverted]].
* VagueAge: Aside from Stumpy, who is 10, the ages of the rest of the characters are unknown. The only other character who we have anything close to a canon age for is Cramoisie, who is "less than six years old".
[[/folder]]

[[folder: The Main Four]]
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: They do have their moments.
* BatmanCanBreatheInSpace: All of them can breathe and talk in outer space.
* CasualDangerDialogue: They do this a lot.
* ChildhoodFriends: They've known each other ''at least'' since they were toddlers.
* ColorCodedCharacters:
** Kaeloo - Pink
** Stumpy - Red
** Quack Quack - Blue/White
** Mr. Cat - Orange
* EveryoneWentToSchoolTogether: A flashback shows them together in school as toddlers.
* FamilyOfChoice: They treat each other like a family and are even referred to as one in the show despite not being biologically related. Especially for Mr. Cat and Quack Quack, who don't have actual families.
* FourFingeredHands: Justified, since they're animals.
* FourManBand:
** OnlySaneMan: Kaeloo... kind of.
** TheSmartGuy: [[DitzyGenius Quack Quack]].
** The CasanovaWannabe: Mr. Cat. He fits both the sexual type and the psychopathic type.
** ButtMonkey: [[TheDitz Stumpy]].
* FunnyAnimal: A frog, a squirrel, a duck and a cat.
* EnsembleCast: Despite the show being named after Kaeloo, all four are given equal attention.
* HypocriticalHeartwarming: They act like complete jerks to one another, but if anyone else dares to mess with one of them, the other three come charging in.
* NotAMorningPerson: Except Kaeloo, they're all pretty grumpy and tired in the morning.
* OddFriendship: A [[NiceGirl friendly]], [[GenkiGirl cheerful]], but [[CloudCuckoolander silly]] frog with the abillity to [[HulkingOut transform into a muscular toad whenever she gets angry]], a [[TheDitz stupid]] and hyperactive squirrel obsessed with video games and comic books, multi-talented and indestructible duck who can't talk and is addicted to yogurt and an AxCrazy {{Jerkass}} of a [[CatsAreMean cat]]. Despite how often they fight, they are surprisingly close.
* TrueCompanions: They don't show it that often, but when trouble arises they're always there for each other. One episode even had them sing a rap song about how even if they died, all four of them would wind up in {{Hell}} together.
-->'''Kaeloo:''' ''[singing]'' Eternity is not long... when you are not alone!
* VitriolicBestBuds: They mercilessly rag on each other sometimes to the point where it could be considered bullying, they engage in acts of violence with each other, and they often throw each other under the bus. A special mention goes to Mr. Cat and Quack Quack, since Mr. Cat is an AxCrazy psychopath and [[NighInvulnerable Quack Quack]] often finds himself on the receiving end of abuse with actual weapons such as chainsaws and bazookas. Yet, when push comes to shove, they're willing to stand up for each other [[HypocriticalHeartwarming (especially when someone else is targeting one of them)]] and often show that they really do care about each other. Sometimes they even say they see each other as a family.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: They ''really'' aren't the best friends you could ask for.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Secondary Characters]]
* DropInCharacter: They're the main four's neighbors, but they always casually show up uninvited to join them in whatever crazy antics they're up to.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween:
** Nice: ProneToTears Eugly, who is kind, friendly and always willing to help everyone.
** Mean: AlphaBitch Pretty, who believes that the world revolves around her, treats Eugly like her personal slave, and is mean to everyone else even if they're nice to her.
** In-Between: Olaf, who is a mad scientist with a [[SmallNameBigEgo big ego]] and HairTriggerTemper who wants to TakeOverTheWorld, but is also willing to help the main characters if necessary and is occasionally nice to them.
* PinkGirlBlueBoy: Pretty and Eugly are pink girls, and Olaf is a blue boy.

->'''Voiced by:'''
** Doug Rand (English dub)
** Andy Chase (English dub, Pilot)
** Matthew Geczy (English dub, Miam! Animation dub)
** Creator/EmmanuelGarijo (French dub)
** Domenico Coscia (Italian dub, Season 1)
** Luca Ghignone (Italian dub, Season 2 onwards)
** Dominika Kluźniak (Polish dub)
** Marko Mrđenović (Serbian dub)

The series' protagonist, [[ProtagonistTitle if you hadn’t guessed from the name]]. She's a perpetually cheerful, kind, fun-loving frog who always tries to make everyone happy and is often the one to suggest they play games. While usually gentle and loving by nature, she [[JekyllAndHyde transforms]] into a [[HulkingOut huge, muscular toad]] named [[OneWingedAngel Bad Kaeloo]] whenever someone manages to push her buttons.
----
* AdaptationNameChange: In the pilot episode, her name was "Kaelou".
* ADogNamedPerro: Kaeloo's name sounds like "kaeru", the Japanese word for frog, and that's what she is.
* AllGirlsLikePonies: She and [[AlphaBitch Pretty]] got into a fight over one once.
* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: Despite the fact that she herself is a "good girl" who tries to be pure, kind and innocent, she still has a crush on Mr. Cat.
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Any time Mr. Cat tries to get with her, she won’t accept it. [[UnrequitedLoveSwitcheroo Other times, he’s the one rejecting her.]]
* AllLovingHero: Loves all living things, and even the non-living.
%%* AmazonianBeauty: Bad Kaeloo, at least in Mr. Cat’s eyes.
* AmbiguousGender: She [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere runs away]] when asked the question in Episode 54, and eludes the question each time she is asked. WordOfGod has confirmed that she is actually a {{hermaphrodite}}.
* AnimalStereotype: She's a frog who is very cheerful and optimistic and smotheringly friendly, albeit somewhat weird.
* AntiHero: An interesting case. Despite being a good person as well as her AllLovingHero personality, she seems to have a dark aspect of HulkingOut. Even as her normal self, she tends to be a bit of a BitchInSheepsClothing and ManipulativeBitch.
%%%* TheAntiNihilist
* ArbitrarySkepticism: Doesn't believe that magic is real despite being in charge of a planet that ''runs on it''.
* BadassAdorable: Mostly lives up to the "Badass" part when she [[HulkingOut turns into Bad Kaeloo]], but as her normal self, she knows martial arts and is very good at manipulating people.
* BadImpressionists: Her impression of Mr. Cat in Episode 65 involves making {{Finger Gun}}s and yelling about how evil she is.
* BelligerentSexualTension: Her relationship with Mr. Cat can sometimes move into this territory. Lampshaded by this quote in Episode 105:
-->'''Kaeloo:''' When I think of all the bad thoughts he could have... ''[smiles as though excited]'' I shiver.[[note]]The audience is shown at another point in the episode what these thoughts might actually look like: several clones of Kaeloo massaging Mr. Cat while he sits on the couch.[[/note]]
* BerserkButton: Not so much a button as ''a Berserk Keyboard'':
** Do not step on a flower, even by accident.
** Don’t use swear words.
** Don't hurt Quack Quack.
** Wasting food around Kaeloo is not a good idea.
** Don't ever suggest playing war-related games.
** Above all, never, EVER [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking call her]] [[EmbarrassingNickname Priscilla]].
** As of season 3, she is also prone to angry or annoyed outbursts when she hears Mr. Cat complimenting Bad Kaeloo in any way. This is strongly implied to be a result of her feeling inferior and less well-liked than Bad Kaeloo.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Given the fact that she will wind up HulkingOut if pushed past RageBreakingPoint and is a [[ManipulativeBitch manipulative]] BitchInSheepsClothing.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: DependingOnTheWriter, she may be one of these, or an actual NiceGirl.
* BlackEyesOfCrazy: After undergoing SanitySlippage in [[spoiler: Episode 100]].
* CantTakeCriticism: Despite having several character flaws, if anyone tries to point out her flaws she gets really angry and yells at or even beats up the person.
-->'''Kaeloo:''' I didn't ask for your opinion, Mr. Cat!\
'''Mr. Cat:''' You can never take criticism, can you?
* CaptainOblivious: [[IdiotHero Kaeloo]] is completely oblivious to everything that happens around her. For example in one episode, she throws a party and decides to see how her guests are doing and sees that Stumpy is attacking Pretty, Quack Quack and Eugly are in an argument and Mr. Cat is trying to kill a random sheep with a bazooka for no apparent reason. Rather than realize how badly things are going, she thinks everybody is having fun.
* CharacterCatchphrase:
** In the original French dub, "Bonjour les amis!"
** And there's "Not at all, not at all, not at all!", which is "Pas de tout, de tout, de tout, de tout, de tout!"
* CheerfulChild: She's almost always smiling.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Kaeloo tries her hardest to get any girl who Mr. Cat could even ''potentially'' develop a crush on far away from him, even though their relationship is based on UnresolvedSexualTension and they're not an OfficialCouple. Examples of girls she has done this to are [[AlphaBitch Pretty]], who she once dragged all the way to Egypt to keep her away from Mr. Cat, a picture of a girl in a magazine, which she burned, and ''her own self after'' ''HulkingOut''.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: She's usually in constant bliss, is completely unaware of her surroundings and comes up with completely inaccurate judgements of situations. Mr. Cat is running a scam where he blatantly abuses Quack Quack and forces him to participate against his will? Quack Quack must be helping Mr. Cat!
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: To Stumpy, even though she herself is a bit of a {{Cloudcuckoolander}}.
* ControlFreak: She often forces everyone else to comply to her standards and rules, and part of the reason she gets angry at [[RebelliousSpirit Mr. Cat]] so often is his refusal to obey what she says if he doesn't want to.
* CoolKidAndLoserFriendship: The loser to Mr. Cat's cool kid.
* CovertPervert: Tries to portray herself as pure and innocent, but her excited reaction to seeing... certain parts of Mr. Cat's anatomy in "Let's Play at Reading Books"[[note]]In the English dub, she excitedly exclaims "Mr. Cat!" and in the French dub she says [[IronicEcho "Oh la la!"]] [[/note]] suggests otherwise. Also, in Episode 60, she gropes ChippendalesDancers and is then shown holding a pair of underwear in a later scene.
* CrocodileTears: Kaeloo often sheds crocodile tears as a way of guilt-tripping her friends, especially [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Mr. Cat]], into doing something they otherwise wouldn't do, for her sake.
* CrossDressingVoices: Kaeloo, a young female frog, is voiced by a man in every dub of the show (except for Polish). In the English dub, she's voiced by Doug Rand, who [[ActingForTwo also voices Stumpy and Quack Quack]].
* CuddleBug: She enjoys being physically affectionate hugging her friends, [[ShipTease especially Mr. Cat]], and has absolutely NoSenseOfPersonalSpace either.
* CursedWithAwesome: Kaeloo is "cursed" with the power of [[HulkingOut turning into a monster]] whose actions are beyond her conscious control, but the power does prove to have its advantages, such as restoring order when things get too chaotic or playing sports which require physical prowess. In addition, it's pretty much the only thing that can keep Mr. Cat and Olaf in check.
* CuteAndPsycho: A cute frog who loses her sanity semi-often.
* DependingOnTheWriter: Kaeloo can either be [[NiceGirl an extremely nice person]] or a {{narcissist}}ic, {{hypocrit|e}}ical, {{manipulative| bitch}} {{jerkass}}.
* DirtyKid: [[CovertPervert Despite presenting herself as pure and innocent]], Kaeloo is just as prone to perverted tendencies as other characters - at the end of Let's Play at Reading Books, it's implied that she saw Mr. Cat's... ahem... "goods" and that she liked it, in another she gropes ChippendalesDancers and in yet another, she was seriously impressed by Mr. Cat's knowledge on the topic of butts (and directly told him this in a very suggestive tone).
* DissonantSerenity: She tends to remain happy even in dangerous situations. However, sometimes she is just being a StepfordSmiler.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Her transformations involve changes typical of taking steroids.
* DreadfulMusician: Kaeloo is horrible at music. In one episode, she tries singing while playing the harp, and Stumpy tells her to stop because both her music and [[HollywoodToneDeaf her singing]] are awful and actually made him nauseous.
* DubNameChange: She is named "Žlabac" in the Serbian dub.
* DubPersonalityChange: In the English dub, she has a HairTriggerTemper and angrily snaps at people for minor inconveniences, but in the original version she's far more calm and patient.
* DudeNotFunny: Her reaction to most of Mr. Cat's [[EvilHasABadSenseOfHumor "jokes"]].
* DumbMuscle: Bad Kaeloo has large muscles but little intelligence.
* EmbarrassingNickname: [[MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext Priscilla, for some reason.]]
* {{Foil}}: To Mr. Cat. She is the protagonist who [[RageBreakingPoint tries not to get angry at anyone]], is mostly nice to everybody but can be mean when she wants to (even without HulkingOut) and is implied to be a StepfordSmiler. He is the antagonist who has a HairTriggerTemper, is normally mean but can be nice and is implied to be a StepfordSnarker.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: DependingOnTheWriter, everyone may hate hanging out with Kaeloo, the sole exception being Mr. Cat. They go to a party where she isn't invited and are happy that she isn't there in Episode 133, they try to find a way to stop hanging out with her forever in Episode 166, and they even try to get her thrown in jail in Episode 179.
* FriendToAllChildren: Kaeloo is especially kind to Stumpy's sisters and tries her best to get along with them.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: She loves plants, animals and even non-living things.
* GenkiGirl: She's ''extremely'' energetic and hyperactive.
* GiftedlyBad: Kaeloo sucks at almost everything, but considers herself to be a very talented person. For example, she draws like a kindergartener but considers herself to be a really good artist.
* GirlsLikeMusicians: She fawns over Mr. Cat even more than usual when he plays the piano.
* GirlsLoveChocolate: According to the show's Facebook page, she eats a lot of chocolate.
* GleefulAndGrumpyPairing: The gleeful to Mr. Cat's grumpy.
* GlurgeAddict: Kaeloo loves playing cute games and likes things like romance and flowers. However, [[WithFriendsLikeThese her friends]] tend to turn everything from cute little kid's games to [[SeriousBusiness straight up wars]].
* GreenAndMean: Kaeloo's SuperpoweredEvilSide, Bad Kaeloo, is a giant green toad with a horrific mean streak who enjoys hurting people in the most violent ways imaginable.
* GreenMeansNatural: Kaeloo is a green frog who is a NatureLover and she's especially protective of plants like flowers.
* GrowingMusclesSequence: StockFootage used OnceAnEpisode. [[MaleGaze Most of the attention is drawn to her butt.]]
* GuileHero: She manipulates people a lot. It doesn't help that the BigBad of the show is one of her best friends and has a crush on her.
* HairAntennae: Her human form in Episode 176 has these.
* HatesBeingNicknamed: "MY NAME IS NOT PRISCILLA!"
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: In Episode 77. Thankfully, Stumpy [[BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor took her place by accident]] and of course [[UnpopularPopularCharacter nobody cares about Stumpy.]] [[IronButtMonkey He survives anyway.]] ]]
* HiddenDepths: One episode showed her to be a martial arts master, even in her normal form. Another one showed her to be able to speak several different languages.
* HollywoodToneDeaf: Except in the MusicalEpisode.
* HulkingOut: OnceAnEpisode, she turns into the muscle-bound Bad Kaeloo, thanks to her [[WithFriendsLikeThese "friends"]].
* {{Hypocrite}}: Won't refrain from doing things she disapproves of other people doing, and holds other people to standards that she herself could not possibly hope to attain.
* HypocriticalHeartwarming: Bad Kaeloo may beat the tar out of Mr. Cat every time she gets mad at him, but she still cares enough to make sure that nobody else hurts him.
* IdiotHero: Maybe not as dumb as Stumpy, but still is a {{cloudcuckoolander}} and the main protagonist.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: She doesn't want to be a transforming monster, because that means hurting her friends.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Her smothering nature and extreme friendliness are a result of her badly wanting to have friends. Ironically, all this does is to slowly drive everyone except [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Mr. Cat]] away from her.
* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: Kaeloo claims to think of herself as cute-looking and talented, but the moment she sees a prettier girl, or someone who is more talented than her, she becomes jealous of them because she actually has rather low self esteem.
* InformedDeformity: In-universe, she's apparently overweight and has cellulite.
* TheIngenue: DependingOnTheWriter, she may either be one of these, or a BitchInSheepsClothing who pretends to be one.
* InstantWakingSkills: When she has to get up at 5:30 a.m., she jumps out of bed ''and starts exercising''.
* InterspeciesRomance: She has a crush on Mr. Cat, though he is a cat and she is a frog.
* InvoluntaryShapeshifter: Some episodes state that she can't control her transformations.
* ItsAllAboutMe: She has shown shades of this at times:
** In "Let's Play Babysitting", Kaeloo goes on a date with Mr. Cat, but ends up losing her temper and beating the crap out of him during his LoveConfession. Rather than apologize to him, she makes it all about herself by talking about how her anger issues are "making her suffer so much".
** In Episode 156, when Mr. Cat stops trying to beat Quack Quack up to annoy Kaeloo, Kaeloo gets upset because Mr. Cat's attention is not focused on her anymore and she actually ''wants'' him to beat Quack Quack up.
* {{Jerkass}}: As Bad Kaeloo, though she'll still show some kindness in this form. DependingOnTheWriter, even "normal" Kaeloo can be a bit of a brat sometimes.
* JerkassToOne: While Kaeloo can be mean at times to any of the characters, she is particularly horrible to Stumpy. She does things such as yelling "YOU LOST" in his ear and mocking him for losing a game, nearly allowing him to drown in quicksand, and refusing to apologize for burning his comic books, which she never does to the other characters, despite the fact that Stumpy didn't provoke her at all.
* {{Kawaiiko}}: Kaeloo is cute. Oh, and very obsessed with staying that way.
* KiddieKid: Kaeloo is a preteen, but she enjoys childish things like fairy tales, tea parties, and jumping rope, which are deemed childish even by the characters in the show who are younger than her.
* LargeHam: She is very loud, energetic and occasionally dramatic.
* LikeBrotherAndSister: With Stumpy.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: Kaeloo is this to Mr. Cat, as his ideal version of the world is one where he and Kaeloo are the only ones who exist, her opinion of him matters to him more than anyone else's, and he once even claims that he "thinks about her day and night".
* LoserProtagonist: The episodes which focus on Kaeloo's social life reveal that she's an annoying dork and nobody really likes her very much except Mr. Cat. She isn't particularly talented at anything either and is said to be overweight as well.
* MamaBear: Don’t attempt to hurt Quack Quack.
* ManipulativeBitch: At times, she has pulled off a WoundedGazelleGambit to get to people. For example, in "[[CourtroomEpisode Let’s Play Courtroom Drama]]", [[spoiler: Mr. Cat points out that Bad Kaeloo is violent, aggressive and a serious threat. She tearfully packs a suitcase and decides to leave Smileyland for the safety of her friends. [[HiddenHeartOfGold Mr. Cat]], not wanting this to happen, [[EngineeredPublicConfession confesses to having been guilty of the crime he was being tried for]]. Cue [[EvilLaughter a malicious chuckle]] from Kaeloo.]]
* MassiveNumberedSiblings: Exaggerated. She says she has 134,667 siblings! [[spoiler: The end of the episode suggests that she may have made it up, though it isn't clear whether or not she did.]]
* MeaningfulName: "Kaeru"[[note]]pronounced "Kaeloo"[[/note]] is the Japanese word for "frog".
* MoralityPet: To Mr. Cat.
* MotorMouth: She does this a lot. In one episode, she even talks so fast that her face turns blue from lack of oxygen.
* MultipurposeTongue: She has used it to [[FurryReminder snatch things]] in some episodes.
* MsImagination: Has a vivid imagination and sees even the most mundane tasks as adventures. However, nobody else on the show does this, and Mr. Cat actually asks if she's been smoking weed in one episode.
* MsRedInk: Kaeloo is pretty bad at handling money.
* MyBelovedSmother: A surrogate one to Quack Quack, and sometimes to Stumpy. She's overbearing and extremely bossy to them.
* {{Narcissist}}: To the point where how "cute" she looks is an obsession.
* NatureLover: Kaeloo loves flowers, trees, insects, animals, etc.
* NeatFreak: Kaeloo likes keeping things organized and tidy, and despises messes of any kind.
* NiceGirl: For all her flaws, she's an affectionate, loving, and sweet frog.
* TheNoseless: But somehow, she can still smell things.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: Just ask Mr. Cat.
* NoSocialSkills: Kaeloo lacks the ability to properly socialize with people outside her close friend circle. Many people are put off by her extreme enthusiasm and smothering nature, and she has the unfortunate tendency to offend people without meaning to. For example, Mr. Cat had to teach her how to lie because her BrutalHonesty was alienating her friends, and her attempts to bond with the young spirit medium Lavanade over their "weirdness" ends up offending Lavanade because she doesn't see herself as weird and is angry that Kaeloo would call her that.
* NotSoAboveItAll: In Episode 64, [[spoiler: she and her friends are protesting the [=McDaube=] restaurant for serving unhealthy food when Mr. Cat [[TakeThat offers them toys to stop the protest]]. Everyone except Kaeloo stops protesting and fights for the toys. She expresses disdain until a toy lands near her foot, and after looking around to make sure nobody sees her, plays with the toy.]]
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Kaeloo typically acts like a naive moron who has no understanding of the world around her, but is often suggested to secretly be a lot more clever than she lets on. This is confirmed in Episode 54 during a game of truth or dare, where Mr. Cat asks her if she really is an idiot or if she just acts that way on purpose. Kaeloo admits that to some extent, she is faking her stupidity.
* OppositesAttract: She is a friendly, cheerful NiceGirl who [[AllGirlsWantBadBoys has a crush on]] the AxCrazy and cynical {{Jerkass}}, [[CatsAreMean Mr. Cat]].
* ParentalSubstitute: She found Quack-Quack as an egg after the death of his parents and raised him herself.
* PerpetualSmiler: It's hard to see her frown - sometimes, [[StepfordSmiler she even smiles when she isn't happy]]
* PingPongNaivete: Depending on the episode, she may be an innocent little girl or a CovertPervert. For example, when Mr. Cat uses [[UnusualEuphemism Unusual Euphemisms]] to imply that he wants to have sex with her, she doesn't get it, but she has also flirted with him in extremely suggestive ways before and once even tried to convince him to have sex with her.
* PintsizedPowerhouse: Can be quite strong even in her normal form, depending on RuleOfFunny.
* PrefersGoingBarefoot: According to "Draw Like A Boss", the reason she never wears shoes is because she doesn't really like them. Stumpy finds this weird.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: As Bad Kaeloo.
* TheRival: To Pretty.
* SanitySlippage: Several episodes end with Kaeloo being driven to insanity. This trope was used prominently in [[spoiler:Episode 100]], where she went completely insane and had to be rescued by her friends.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: The energetic girl to Mr. Cat's savvy guy.
* SarcasmBlind: She usually can't detect when [[CatsAreSnarkers Mr. Cat]] says something sarcastic.
* ScrewTheRulesIMakeThem: Kaeloo occasionally gets called out by her friends for not playing by the rules, but since she's the one who comes up with the games, they normally get a response along the lines of "This is my game, that's the way it is, and I'll do whatever I want!"
* ShakingTheRump: “Booty Booty Booty Dance! Booty Booty Booty Dance!”
* ShesAManInJapan: The Italian, Hindi and Serbian dubs turned her male, editing out any suggestive scenes between her and Mr. Cat.
** There was a mistake in the English dubbing for the first ten episodes, causing her to be accidentally rewritten as male until the eleventh episode, where her being female [[DubInducedPlotHole was an important part of the episode.]]
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: The only one in the cast to be female, until Pretty and Eugly showed up. Since the bunny twins don't appear in half the episodes, the trope is still in play for most of the time.
* SoapboxSadie: She tends to be pretty forceful when it comes to teaching her friends lessons. Also, some of her claims are straight up incorrect and dumb, as she thinks that video games cause obsessive compulsive disorders.
* SpeechImpediment: She has a lisp, which makes her a subject of ridicule by the rest of the cast. In the French dub, she pronounces 'J' and 'G' as 'Z' and 'Ch' as 'S' (which is especially noticeable whenever [[SayMyName she says Mr. Cat's name]] - which is often - as it comes out sounding more like "Monsieur Sat" than "Monsieur Chat"), in addition to having a classic lisp.
* SplitPersonalityTakeover: "Let's Play Grown Ups" implies that Bad Kaeloo will take over later in Kaeloo's life, only becoming normal Kaeloo when angry.
* StalkerWithACrush: Episode 194 reveals that whenever Mr. Cat isn't around, Kaeloo texts him on his phone. Mr. Cat even notices this and tells the viewers that Kaeloo is "crazy about him". Not that he particularly minds.
* StepfordSmiler: Heavily implied. The falsity of her "cheerful" nature is highlighted when she pushes back signs of anger with a huge, obviously forced, painful-looking smile.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Her family members look exactly like her, and they wear accessories so the audience can tell them apart.
* SuperGullible: DependingOnTheWriter, she may or not be dumb enough to fall for Mr. Cat's schemes.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: Bad Kaeloo's actions seem to be beyond her control, and Kaeloo normally winds up apologizing to whoever got beaten up.
* SuperStrength: As Bad Kaeloo, she is strong enough to uproot trees, throw cars and hold off a meteor.
* TalkingToPlants: Does this a lot.
-->'''Kaeloo:''' Hello, Mrs. Flower! How are you today?
** In Episode 133, it's revealed to be one of many reasons why everyone except Mr. Cat thinks she's weird.
* TeamMom: She takes care of her friends and loves teaching them various lessons. She also acts like a typical mom by scolding them for bad behavior and telling them to do their chores. It helps that until Season 2, she was the only female character.
* TerribleArtist: She draws like a kindergartener but has managed to convince herself that she is talented. Mr. Cat is the only one who notices how bad her art is.
* TranslatorBuddy: In [[EarlyInstallmentWeirdness early episodes]] where Stumpy and Mr. Cat couldn't understand what [[TheUnintelligible Quack Quack]] was saying, she would explain it to them.
* UnresolvedSexualTension: With Mr. Cat.
* UptightLovesWild: Despite being uptight and stuffy, she has a crush on Mr. Cat, a rebellious "bad boy".
* VagueAge: Like Mr. Cat, she's either eleven or twelve.
* VocalEvolution: Her voice may rise or drop an octave depending on the episode.
* WideEyedIdealist: Easily the most idealistic of the characters.
* YouthfulFreckles: Her driver's license photo, taken when she was much younger than the present day, depicts her with freckles.

An [[CosmicPlaything extremely unlucky]] squirrel who sucks at everything. He is completely [[{{Pun}} nuts]], and often gets erratic spasms out of nowhere (implied to be because of a disorder like Tourette's). He's immature, [[TheDitz not very bright]], and generally comes up with the [[InsaneTrollLogic craziest ideas or reasonings]]. He sees Kaeloo [[LikeBrotherAndSister as an older sister]], Quack Quack as his best friend and [[InappropriateRoleModel Mr. Cat as his role model.]] He is extremely [[JustOneMoreLevel addicted to video games]] and comic books, especially the "Mr. Coolskin" franchise. A RunningGag in the series is to mention his (apparently non-existent) sister[[note]] His official bio says he has 36 sisters[[/note]]. He has been [[AntiHero an antagonist]] in several episodes for [[ForTheEvulz no apparent reason]], sometimes teaming up with Mr. Cat, [[KarmaHoudini and gotten away with it]].
----
* AccidentalHero: In Episode 104, he accidentally [[spoiler: manages to take control of Olaf’s MechaMooks while trying to get away from them. He then proceeds to rescue the others, who are trapped in [[NotSoHarmlessVillain Olaf]]'s lair.]]
* AdaptationNameChange: In the English dub of the pilot, his name was still "Moignon" as he hadn't received a DubNameChange, but in the English dub of the series proper his name is "Stumpy".
* AfraidOfNeedles: Faints at the mere sight of one in "Let's Play Spies". It's also the way Kaeloo manages to get him to stop PlayingSick.
* AlliterativeName: Stumpy The Squirrel (in the English dub).
* AmbiguousGenderIdentity: He loves dressing up as a girl and in one of the comics, [[spoiler: he even wished to be ''turned into one''.]]
* AmbiguousInnocence: He may not actually be as innocent as he seems to be.
* AmbiguouslyBi: He likes girls and has a girlfriend named Ursula, but he seemed to fall in love with Quack Quack in "Let's Play Hot-Cold" and enjoys dressing in drag. He also came up with the weird idea of Mr. Cat wearing a G-String in Episode 71.
* AnimalStereotype: A hyperactive, idiotic squirrel.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: A surrogate one to Kaeloo and Mr. Cat.
* TheAnticipator: In Episode 72, due to his increased intelligence, he is able to predict anything and everything that is going to happen.
* AntiHero: While he is supposed to be on the "good" side, he does morally ambiguous things like stealing money from his mother's purse to buy comic books. He can even be a VillainProtagonist at times.
* AttentionWhore: Especially in the later seasons. In one of the episodes, he is put on trial in court. To help him not face punishment, Mr. Cat (who is his lawyer) stages an incident so Quack Quack goes to prison instead of Stumpy; instead of being happy, Stumpy complains that Quack Quack stole the attention that he was supposed to get.
* AttractiveBentGender: In Episode 60, he dresses as a girl who is seen as very attractive by the bouncer at a nightclub.
* AudienceSurrogate: Any time something happens that the audience doesn't understand, Stumpy will ask Kaeloo what is happening so she can explain it to him (and by proxy the audience).
* AxCrazy: Though not to Mr. Cat's extent.
* BabysitterFromHell: In "[[BabysittingEpisode Let's Play Babysitting]]", he is one to Quack Quack, who doesn't even ''need'' a babysitter in the first place. At one point, he even tries ForceFeeding him pureed spinach by sticking a funnel in his mouth, putting the spinach in and then smashing it in with a baseball bat.
* BadlyBatteredBabysitter: Winds up as one in [[BabysittingEpisode "Let's Play Babysitting"]].
* BelligerentSexualTension: With Pretty. They fight a lot, but have also expressed the desire to kiss each other on separate occasions.
* BerserkButton: Don't insult Stumpy's sister in front of him.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: At the end of Episode 105, he [[spoiler: almost [[TheDogBitesBack erases the rest of the main four from existence]], and although he spares them, he takes over the studio making the show and decides to write all the scripts for future episodes.]]
* BigBad: Of [[spoiler: Episode 105]].
* BigBadWannabe: He wants to be a villain, but isn't very good at it.
-->'''Stumpy:''' I'll be the bad guy! I can be really bad! Bad to the bone!\
''[Mr. Cat, the real BigBad, shows up and kicks Stumpy out of the scene]''
* BigBrotherInstinct: Stumpy cares deeply about his little sisters and is quite protective of them, especially Violasse.
* BigEater: He eats quite a lot; he can generate [[TrashOfTheTitans enormous piles of trash]] (food packaging and drink cans), he places huge orders when eating at a restaurant, and he is perpetually hungry.
* BookDumb: He thinks his favorite comic book character discovered America, can't count past four and doesn't know any letters of the alphabet other than A and B.
* BornUnlucky: Nothing ever goes right for this guy.
* BumblingSidekick: To anyone he teams up with, usually Mr. Cat. His stupidity and ineptitude at everything, combined with his bad luck, make him one of the worst sidekicks in history.
* ButtMonkey: At the ''BEST'' of cases. His friends don't respect him. He also gets lots of injuries. One example is when he gets the flu, eats a poisonous toadstool, has a concussion and breaks a leg... in the span of '''one episode'''. [[spoiler: This actually gets deconstructed in episode 105, where it turns out that he is tired of being everyone's punching bag and just wants to live in a world where others respect him.]]
* CannotTellAJoke: Not only are his jokes incredibly lame, he also laughs very hard while telling them and half the time he's laughing too hard to finish talking.
* CharacterCatchphrase:
** "That’s nuts!"/"That’s crazy!"
** "Cooooooooooool!"
** "I hate your guts."
* ChainsawGood: He is shown holding a chainsaw in the opening, and in some episodes he uses chainsaws for various purposes.
* ChaoticStupid: Even the other characters, [[DysfunctionJunction who aren't exactly the sanest people either]], think he is completely [[{{Pun}} nuts]].
* CharacterTic: "SKBLSKBLSKBL!" (said while his neck spasms erratically).
** Whenever he is nervous or stressed, he bites on random things.
* ChildishOlderSibling: Stumpy is the oldest of eight kids and while he does try to act reliable around his little sisters to some extent, he ends up coming across as less responsible and mature than some of the sisters due to being a lazy selfish brat who mooches off of other people and spends all his time reading comics and playing video games, a fact which he is repeatedly called out on by Kaeloo.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: The very embodiment of the trope.
* ComicalOverreacting: Usually.
** This is HilariousInHindsight when you consider his calm reactions to anything worth actually being scared or worried about.
-->'''Stumpy [perfectly calm]:''' Hey, Quack Quack’s on fire.
* ConspicuousGloves: Dark purple fingerless ones, that look just like Mr. Cat's[[note]] Stumpy has mentioned that [[IJustWantToBeYou he has always dreamed of being like Mr. Cat,]] which might be a reason for this[[/note]].
* CosmicPlaything: Episode 72 proves that he is ''literally'' a plaything for the universe.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Sometimes. There was one instance where he managed to [[spoiler: beat up Mr. Cat]], and in the Season 3 premiere, he [[spoiler: ''takes over the animation studio'' and [[MediumAwareness decides to write all the episodes himself]].]]
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Well, sort of - his eyes are the same color as his fur, red.
* DeadpanSnarker: On occasion.
-->'''Kaeloo:''' ''[after Stumpy lets out a sneeze]'' Did you catch a cold, Stumpy?\
'''Stumpy:''' ''[deadpan]'' How did you guess?
* DealWithTheDevil: In Episode 89 to gain the ability to write a good song for [[TheUnseen Ursula]] and [[spoiler: "Let's Play Figurines" to get voodoo powers]].
* DeathSeeker: One episode had him challenge Death [[HeavenSeeker so that he could see what Paradise was like.]] [[spoiler: He dies at the end of the episode by committing suicide, [[CruelTwistEnding but he goes to Hell instead of Paradise since suicide is a sin.]]]]
* DependingOnTheWriter: He can either be a nice but stupid kid who cares about his friends or a {{jerkass}} who tortures everyone [[ItAmusedMe for his own amusement]].
* DirtyKid: He has some perverted tendencies, like accepting a job as a police assistant so he can question strippers, trying to spy on Pretty in the bath or [[AmbiguouslyBi imagining Mr. Cat in a G-string]].
* DisproportionateRetribution: In "Let’s Play Figurines", the others refuse to let him borrow their figurines to play with. Stumpy responds by [[spoiler: making a DealWithTheDevil to become a witch doctor and use voodoo magic on them.]] However, this could also be a result of their usual treatment of him.
* TheDitz: Possibly the most stupid person in existence.
* TheDogBitesBack: From Episode 105 onwards, he starts getting revenge on Kaeloo and Mr. Cat instead of just taking their abuse.
* DraggedIntoDrag: Despite the fact that Kaeloo is female [[{{Hermaphrodite}} (sort of)]], and Pretty and Eugly are around in some episodes, he has to dress like a girl half the time.
* DreadfulMusician: In one episode, he tries to raise money by playing music. He turns out to be really bad, so he decides to threaten to [[BegoneBribe keep playing unless he is paid.]] Kaeloo reluctantly coughs up some money.
* DrivesLikeCrazy: To the extent that Bad Kaeloo thought that smashing Mr. Cat into a car and letting Stumpy drive was a worse punishment than strangling and punching him. As Mr. Cat puts it:
-->'''Mr. Cat:''' Did you get your license [[FreePrizeAtTheBottom from a cereal box?]]
* DubNameChange: Moignon to Stumpy in the English dub, Mignolo in the Italian dub, Vivi in the Serbian dub, and Wierwiór in the Polish dub.
* DumbIsGood: [[ZigzaggedTrope Zigzagged]]; He’s an AntiHero most of the time, but sometimes he’s one of the good guys.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: The pilot actually had him [[spoiler: win the game]], and in the first episode of Season 1 he said he didn’t want to be on the same team as Mr. Cat while later episodes have him idolize him.
* EnergeticAndSoftSpokenDuo:
* ExtremeOmnivore: Who in their right mind would try to eat things like dumpster trash or a table?
* FailureIsTheOnlyOption: He always loses, except in [[spoiler: [[EarlyInstallmentWeirdness the series pilot]]]] and a few other episodes. In [[spoiler: "What if We Played at Riding Ponies?"]] he wins due to Mr. Cat’s interference, but still "loses" because he bet all his money on Quack Quack winning.
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: Stumpy has this dynamic with his younger sister, Ardoise. Stumpy is a lazy, selfish moron while Ardoise is a hardworking, mature, and responsible little girl who enjoys helping out her family whenever they need her. Kaeloo even calls Stumpy out on this by pointing out that he's setting a terrible example for Ardoise and that Ardoise is very helpful to him.
* ForTheEvulz: Most of the show's antagonists have a reason for doing the things they do; Olaf wants to make the world more livable for himself and his [[CompanionCube "wife"]], Mr. Cat was mostly neglected and abused as a child, Pretty has a reputation as an AlphaBitch and does mean things to people because she's a SlaveToPR, but Stumpy... just finds being a dick funny.
* FreudianExcuse: His rude and bratty attitude stems from the constant abuse Kaeloo and Mr. Cat have put him through over the past several years.
* {{Gasshole}}: Burps fairly often, and has even [[{{Fartillery}} weaponized]] one of his farts.
* GeniusDitz: He’s an amazing artist but otherwise a complete idiot.
* HatesBaths: His reaction to being told to take a bath is a BigNo.
* HollywoodToneDeaf: He really can't carry a tune.
* {{Hypocrite}}: In the show's "Draw Like a Boss" webisodes, he calls the viewers a bunch of "losers" because they don't know how to draw.
* IgnorantAboutFire: Stumpy does not understand that touching objects that are on fire will burn you. He also doesn't know how to properly use a fire extinguisher, and thinks that they're meant to be thrown at fires.
* IJustWantToBeYou: One episode has him state that he has always dreamed of being Mr. Cat. Another episode made him try to get revenge on Mr. Cat for stealing his stuff, only to take over his role as villain after knocking him out.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: He uses bananas as weapons (but has also used guns in a few episodes).
* InappropriateRoleModel: His role model is [[CatsAreMean Mr. Cat]], unfortunately.
* InformedDeformity: In-universe, he's apparently hideous.
* InformedFlaw: Kaeloo and Mr. Cat repeatedly accuse Stumpy of being a liar throughout the series; the audience rarely sees him lying about anything, but the narrative treats it like lying is something he does often.
* InsufferableImbecile: Stumpy is very stupid and can be a rude, obnoxious JerkAss [[DependingOnTheWriter depending on the episode]].
* InterspeciesRomance: He is a squirrel and he is dating Ursula, who is according to Episode 143, a cat.
* IronButtMonkey: He somehow survived [[spoiler: being left on an exploding planet]].
* IronicFear: He is afraid of heights despite being a squirrel.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Despite being a [[SpoiledBrat spoiled]], annoying jerk at times, he does love his friends and he usually doesn't reach [[CatsAreMean Mr. Cat's]] levels (not that that's a huge accomplishment).
* JustOneMoreLevel: He suffers from a very serious video game addiction.
* KarmaHoudini: Whenever Stumpy and Mr. Cat do something together, Mr. Cat is usually punished for it while Stumpy gets away. However it's always counterbalanced by having the squirrel be the series' target practice for pain.
* KarmicButtMonkey: In the later seasons, Stumpy becomes this. Sure, he has terrible luck and often gets bullied by the other characters, but he's also a spoiled, lazy, rude, immature, selfish {{jerkass}} who often brings bad things upon himself.
* TheKlutz: Frequently trips over nothing.
* LethalChef: He tried cooking a stew that tasted like shoes - by stomping his feet in the cooking pot.
* LethallyStupid: He is extremely dangerous when armed.
* LikeBrotherAndSister: With Kaeloo. In one episode she even calls him her little brother.
* LiteralMinded: In "Let's Play Prison-Ball", he acts like the "prison"[[note]]In prison-ball, the prison is a space at the back of the court where a player stands if they get hit[[/note]] is a real prison, yells things like "Society's the one to blame, I'm innocent!" and tries to dig his way out with a jackhammer.
* MadLibsCatchPhrase: "Are you [adjective] or what?"
* MassiveNumberedSiblings: He's the only boy in a family of 37 kids.
* TheMillstone: If it isn't Mr. Cat himself or Kaeloo who foils his plans, [[LethallyStupid it's usually Stumpy who does.]]
* {{Necromancer}}: Caused a zombie apocalypse in [[HalloweenEpisode "Let’s Play Scaredy Cat"]] and has made more than one DealWithTheDevil.
* NervousWreck: He is often quite jittery.
* NightmareFetishist: He is fascinated by dangerous things, like explosions, weapons and monsters. His reaction to seeing images where Quack Quack is graphically tortured is an excited sounding "Ooh, gory!"
* NightmareFuelStationAttendant: He is one of these as a result of a constant diet of violent horror movies, comic books and video games.
* NotAfraidToDie: He actually attempts to challenge Death in one episode, but that was mainly because [[TooDumbToLive he wanted to know what the afterlife was like]].
* TheOneWhoWearsShoes: He wears a pair of green sneakers, and is the only member of the main four to wear footwear of any type.
* PaperThinDisguise: His "Stumpy’s sister" disguise is basically himself in a wig. He uses it to fool the bouncer at a girls-only nightclub, despite the bouncer having seen him ''literally two seconds ago''.
* ParentalNeglect: His mother doesn't pay much attention to him due to the fact that she's a single mother working three jobs and raising eight children at once.
* ThePigpen: Stumpy refuses to brush his teeth every day and HatesBaths to the point where he bathes less than once a month.
* PopCulturedBadass: His knowledge of pop culture has often proven useful to the cast.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: He has red eyes and he can be surprisingly dangerous at times.
* SarcasmBlind: He genuinely believes most sarcastic statements he hears.
* ScreamsLikeALittleGirl: More obvious in the French dub.
* ShipperOnDeck: He ships Kaeloo and Mr. Cat very, very hard. The episode "Let's Play Baby-Sitting" even had him set them up on a date.
* ShipperWithAnAgenda: The first instance of Stumpy trying to get Kaeloo and Mr. Cat together wasn't purely out of goodwill towards them, but part of a larger plan where he was hoping that they would have a baby together, which he could then babysit in exchange for pay.
* SkewedPriorities:
** When the main four go camping in "Let's Play Treasure Hunt", he unpacks all the necessary supplies before they leave because there wasn't enough space for all his Mr. Coolskin comic books.
** When the planet is destroyed in Episode 105, he rejoices because he won't have to go to school anymore. And then he panics... because there's no phone signal and he can't call his girlfriend.
* SmartBall: In Episode 81, the gang has to remove a magical yogurt from a place without triggering any traps. Stumpy, having seen this in a movie, carefully replaces it with an acorn. [[SubvertedTrope Ultimately subverted]] when he then proceeds to pick up said acorn [[TrademarkFavoriteFood and]] [[FurryReminder eats it.]]
* SpoiledBrat: While he's nowhere near as bad as [[RichBitch Pretty]], he still is bratty and spoiled.
* SpotlightStealingSquad: The show mostly focuses on him and Mr. Cat.
* StepfordSmiler: Episode 236 reveals that he and his sisters are this. The eight of them live in poverty with their single mother who works three jobs and their father left them, but they try to stay positive by reminding themselves that at least they have each other.
* StrawLoser: Given the fact that Kaeloo has people like [[TheAce Mr. Cat and Quack Quack]] around, she would look like a complete loser if not for Stumpy.
* SuddenlyShouting: He does this so often it's practically a CharacterTic.
* SuperGullible: He'll believe anything you tell him, no matter how ridiculous it is.
* TooDumbToLive: He has shot himself with a bazooka, eaten a poisonous toadstool and bitten an electric wire on purpose (and [[TheyKilledKennyAgain actually died]] each time). That was just a few examples.
* TookALevelInJerkass: He becomes meaner in the later episodes, probably because everyone's abuse got to him.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Nuts. He is a squirrel, after all. He also loves paninis in the French dub, [[AscendedToCarnivorism or hot dogs in the English dub.]]
* UglyGuyHotWife: While they aren't married, he seems to have this dynamic with his girlfriend Ursula - he is a funny-looking squirrel [[InformedDeformity who is apparently quite ugly in universe]], while Ursula, [[TheVoice despite not being shown on-screen]], gets quite the positive attention from Mr. Cat [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer and Kaeloo]].
* UngratefulBastard: In Episode 128. The plot of the episode revolves around Stumpy using various schemes to trick people into giving him money to buy a video game. Each time he tries something on Kaeloo, she immediately sees through the trick, but gives him money anyway and compliments his creativity in coming up with the scheme. In order to get more sympathy from others and therefore more money, Stumpy goes on TV and narrates a completely false story about his life which portrays Kaeloo as a selfish and bossy {{jerkass}}.
* UnmanlySecret: He admits [[spoiler: under the effects of TruthSerum]] that he secretly enjoys wearing makeup, high heels and flowery dresses because it "makes him feel pretty".
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: In "Let's Play the Quest for the Wholly Gruel".
* WholesomeCrossdresser: After being shot with TruthSerum, he admits that he likes dressing in drag.
* WouldHitAGirl: Has hit Pretty several times.
* VillainProtagonist: In "Let's Play Figurines" and Episode 102. And especially in [[spoiler: Episode 105]].
* VocalEvolution: In the English dub, his voice was deeper and a bit more mature in a first few episodes before it became more similar to his much more high-pitched French voice (that said, it did temporarily become deeper again between Let's Play Ecologists and Let's Play Danger Island Survivor).

----
* AcademicAthlete: He's really good at science, can solve complex math sums in seconds inside his head and can win almost any sport.
* TheAce: He can do anything with a great amount of talent and skill.
* AcquiredSituationalNarcissism: In "Let's Play Tennis", since he's better than everyone else at tennis.
* AfraidOfDoctors: As a result of being experimented on by scientists.
* AllMenArePerverts: As evidenced by "Let’s Play at Reading Books", where he spends his time in the library reading dirty magazines.
* AnimalStereotype: Averted. He's a talented genius and a nice guy.
* AppendageAssimilation: In "Let's Play Peace, Man!" when his head is blown off, he just takes another one out of a suitcase and puts it on.
* BadassAdorable: Despite being a duckling and most likely the youngest member of the main cast, he is already a strong, athletic [[TheAce ace]] who, among other things, can sword fight and is indestructible.
* BerserkButton: Come between him and yogurt, or between him and Eugly, and you will pay.
* BigEater: Eats yogurt by the crate. {{Exploited| Trope}} by Stumpy in "Let's Play Super-Powers" when he forces him to eat 712 pots of yogurt to win a Mr. Coolskin card as part of a competition.
* BirdsOfAFeather: He and Eugly are both [[TheUnintelligible incapable of speech]], kind to everyone, and [[WithFriendsLikeThese mistreated horribly by everyone else]].
* BlessedWithSuck: He is indestructible, which is Mr. Cat’s main reason for the extreme amounts of violence he inflicts on him.
* BodySled: Kaeloo uses him as a sled in Episode 105.
* BrokenAce: He is smart and good at absolutely everything, but he is also a [[GRatedDrug yogurt addict]], his parents died before he was even hatched and he was experimented on by scientists. Also, he is constantly tortured by [[WithFriendsLikeThese one of his friends.]]
* TheChewToy: Being [[AxCrazy Mr. Cat's]] main torture victim will do that to you.
* ChildProdigy: The most intelligent ([[DitzyGenius at least when it comes to stuff like math and science]]) and the youngest character on the show.
* CompellingVoice: In Episode 97, after accidentally swallowing a spoon. [[{{Jerkass}} Mr. Cat]] exploits this to get whatever he wants from Kaeloo and Stumpy. [[spoiler: When Quack Quack refuses to help him any longer, Mr. Cat beats him up. Unfortunately for Mr. Cat, the abuse causes the spoon to come flying out, leaving him defenseless against Kaeloo.]]
* TheConfidant: In Season 5, he becomes this to Mr. Cat after encouraging the feline to confront the bad impacts that his [[DarkAndTroubledPast bad childhood]] has had on him. Throughout this season, Mr. Cat slowly opens up about the way his trauma shaped him as a person, and Quack-Quack is the only person he trusts enough with the secret that he has decided to pursue therapy for his issues.
* DemonicPossession: He was on the receiving end of it in [[spoiler: "Let’s Play Paranormal Stuff". Mr. Cat and Stumpy wind up having to exorcise him a la Franchise/{{Ghostbusters}}.]] It happens again in Episode 145, and once again his friends exorcise him.
* DirtyKid: He can sometimes be a pervert, like in "Let's Play at Reading Books" when he was looking at a book with pictures of skimpily dressed girls.
* DitzyGenius: When it comes to academics, he's absolutely ''brilliant'', but he couldn't even tell that a picture of himself with Stumpy's head taped onto it wasn't a picture of Stumpy.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: Hates spinach and "orgyurt" (a kind of organic yogurt).
* DoesntKnowTheirOwnBirthday: Quack-Quack doesn't know when his birthday is, because he was orphaned as an egg and then kidnapped by scientists who wanted to experiment on him. His friends celebrate his "birthday" as the day he escaped from the lab and was adopted by Kaeloo instead.
* DubNameChange: Coin Coin to Quack Quack in the English dub, Qua Qua in the Italian version, and Kwa Kwa in the Polish dub.
* EnergeticAndSoftSpokenDuo: Quack-Quack, is introverted, passive and only talks in quacks but is best friends with Stumpy, who is hyperactive and loud.
* EquippableAlly: The others sometimes use him as a weapon to fire various objects, ranging from yogurt to missiles.
* EscapedFromTheLab: Quack Quack's backstory is that when he was an egg, his parents were killed by a hunter, and when he hatched, the young duckling was taken to a laboratory where he was subjected to strange scientific experiments. Eventually, he escaped from the lab and went to live with the rest of the cast.
* ExtremeDoormat: Quack-Quack is easily manipulated and passively accepts both verbal and physical abuse. It's often suggested that he allows Mr. Cat to beat him up without retaliating just because it makes Mr. Cat feel happy, even going as far as to suggest that Mr. Cat should beat him up when he's feeling down. He also allows Kaeloo and Stumpy to boss him into doing stupid or difficult things for them without refusing.
* EyeBeams: Has the power to shoot both light beams and laser beams from his eyes.
* FriendToAllChildren: He befriends several of Stumpy's little sisters, all of whom are very fond of him.
* HalfDressedCartoonAnimal: Wears a pair of underwear.
* HilariouslyAbusiveChildhood: Most of it, anyway.
* HonoraryUncle: To Stumpy's little sisters.
* ImmortalLifeIsCheap: Mr. Cat usually greets him by blasting his head off, and spends the rest of the episode repeatedly killing him.
* InnocentBlueEyes: He is the only character besides some of Stumpy's sisters to have blue eyes. He is also the most innocent, kindest and youngest character in the entire show.
* InnocentProdigy: Quack Quack is a genius who can solve complex math problems inside his head in mere seconds and is a brilliant scientist, but he otherwise acts like the little kid he is - he's sensitive, naive and enjoys video games, comic books and children's games.
* InterspeciesRomance: His girlfriend is a rabbit and he is a duck.
* IronButtMonkey: No matter what Mr. Cat or the universe throws at him, he can survive just about anything It's weaponized in [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt Episode 77]], where Mr. Cat suggests everyone hide inside Quack Quack to avoid the apocalypse.
* IntelligibleUnintelligible: [[PokemonSpeak Can only say his name]], yet everyone understands him anyway.
* KarmaHoudini:
** "Let’s Play at Reading Books", he gets away with doing the exact same thing as Mr. Cat while Mr. Cat gets punished.
** At the end of Episode 134, Stumpy punishes Kaeloo and Mr. Cat for tricking him, but Quack Quack, who was also in on the plan, gets away scot-free.
* LiterallyLovingThyNeighbor: Eugly, his girlfriend, also happens to be his neighbor.
* ALizardNamedLiz: A duck named Quack Quack.
* LoveAtFirstSight: Fell in love with Eugly the first time he saw her; she also fell in love with him the first time she saw him.
* MadeOfBologna: When Quack-Quack is cut up there's no blood or guts visible, he's just pink on the inside.
* MadeOfIndestructium: Quack Quack is indestructible. No matter what you do to him, he'll always come back to life in three seconds.
* MeaningfulName: It's the only thing he can say.
* MundaneUtility: He uses his powers to be a soda machine, provide disco lights and do several other mundane things. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] in Episode 103 when [[NotSoHarmlessVillain Olaf]] kidnaps him to use his powers to power a snow machine to [[spoiler: save Olga from melting]], which he finds to be a much better use for those powers.
* NiceGuy: One of the nicest characters on the show, and the only male character to not be a jerk.
* NighInvulnerable: He can be hurt, but he can't actually die even if blasted with a bazooka, decapitated or set on fire. However, one episode said that even though he's indestructible, he isn't immortal and will die one day, probably of natural consequences.
* NegateYourOwnSacrifice: He frequently sacrifices himself for his friends, but he's indestructible.
* NoRespectGuy: He always helps his friends whenever they need it, but they don't return the favor; Kaeloo treats him like her personal slave, Stumpy exploits his talents for his own benefit, and Mr. Cat uses him as a punching bag.
* NotSoStoic: He has shown emotion at times. This is VERY rare, though, as in one episode he was actually perfectly stoic when Kaeloo, his ParentalSubstitute was going to ''die''.
* OfficialCouple: With Eugly, following the events of Episode 54.
* OstrichHeadHiding: Despite being a duck, this is his hide-and-seek technique. It works very well on Kaeloo, Stumpy, Interdimensional Stumpy and Interdimensional Quack Quack.
* ParodySue: He's [[DitzyGenius "smart"]], a good athlete, [[TheAce very talented at everything]] and is also [[NighInvulnerability indestructible]]. As a result, he wins everything, and all his successes are PlayedForLaughs as well as being one of the reasons Mr. Cat hates him so much.
* PayEvilUntoEvil: Usually [[AvertedTrope averted]]; in most cases, he does nothing to get revenge on Mr. Cat (or anyone else) for the way they treat him.
* PintsizedPowerhouse: Can effortlessly beat up Mr. Cat and Stumpy when he wants to.
* PokemonSpeak: He can only say his name, "Quack".
* RepetitiveName: Two "Quacks" in a row.
* SilentSnarker: He is often shown rolling his eyes or making facial expressions that more or less mean "Really?" whenever someone does something stupid.
* SingleTargetSexuality: He only appears to be attracted to Eugly.
* SkewedPriorities: He tends to value yogurt above everything else in the world, including his own girlfriend and friends; one of the comic book stories even has him electrocute Stumpy to keep the fridge running during a power outage so his yogurts won't get ruined!
* SpeechImpairedAnimal: He can only say "Quack", even through the rest of the cast (except for his girlfriend, Eugly) can speak normally.
* TheStoic: Quack Quack rarely changes expression.
* SympathyForTheDevil: Being aware that Mr. Cat's [[TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior troubling behavior]] stems from [[DarkAndTroubledPast having had a very difficult life]], Quack Quack continues to be his friend and be nice to him because he believes that deep down, Mr. Cat is just confused and hurting because of his [[FreudianExcuse trauma]].
* TinyGuyHugeGirl: Eugly is nearly twice his size.
* TooDumbToLive: If Quack Quack wasn't indestructible, he would have certainly died by now. For example, in one episode, Kaeloo, Stumpy and Quack Quack are playing "Red Light, Green Light" with Mr. Cat. When he turns around, he fires a missile from a bazooka at the others. Kaeloo and Stumpy run away to escape. Quack Quack, on the other hand, stands in the path of the missile because the rules of the game say that he shouldn't move until Mr. Cat turns around again.
* ToothyBird: When zombified. Mostly averted when he is normal.
* TheyKilledKennyAgain: He's died quite a few times.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Yogurt, although it’s more of a GRatedDrug which he undergoes withdrawal symptoms without.
* TraumaButton: If anyone mentions dead parents in any way, shape, or form, Quack Quack, whose parents were brutally murdered, will go into TroubledFetalPosition and rock back and forth.
* TroubledFetalPosition: He curls up into fetal position and rocks back and forth while repeatedly quacking if anyone mentions anything involving dead parents.
* TrouserSpace: Can fit anything into his underwear.
* TwitchyEye: While imagining [[PatchworkKids what Kaeloo and Mr. Cat's baby would look like]].
* TheUnintelligible: [[ZigzaggedTrope Zigzagged]]. Sometimes everybody understands him, and sometimes they don't.
* WhosLaughingNow: In "Let's Play Figurines", he manages to turn Mr. Cat into his personal slave.
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: He is the smartest character on the show, but he is also the youngest.
* TheWoobie: Pretty much his whole life has been awful: never getting to know his parents, being experimented on by scientists, and living with Mr. Cat and Stumpy.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: He is the youngest of the cast, yet he looks about the same age as the others.

The series' VillainProtagonist, an AxCrazy, [[AllMenArePerverts perverted]], [[ItsAllAboutMe selfish]], [[SmallNameBigEgo egoistic]], [[TheAlcoholic alcoholic]], [[{{Hypocrite}} hypocritical]] {{sad|ist}}o{{masochis|m}}t who has displayed quite a few signs of TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior. His favorite hobby is to harm and injure [[NighInvulnerable Quack Quack]] in every way possible, and he owns an arsenal of weapons which he uses for the purpose. [[SurroundedByIdiots He's also the only actual smart character on the show]], the other "smart" characters being {{Ditzy Genius}}es and the remaining characters being downright moronic. Despite all of the aforementioned characteristics, he is Kaeloo's closest, most loyal friend and confidante with whom she has UnresolvedSexualTension. [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold He can be nice to the rest of the characters]] at times, especially Kaeloo, and as the series goes on [[DefrostingIceKing he becomes]] [[CharacterDevelopment much nicer]]. Mr. Cat had [[FreudianExcuse a really difficult past]], and he in fact met the others after running away from home to escape his [[BigBrotherBully abusive]] [[AbusiveParents family]].
----
* AcademicAthlete: He's a science prodigy and is almost as good as Quack Quack at most sports.
* AccessoryWearingCartoonAnimal: All he wears is a pair of dark purple fingerless gloves.
* TheAce: While not to the same extent as Quack Quack, he is good at almost everything, in addition to being good-looking, intelligent and strong. It’s even implied that if he hadn't [[DickDastardlyStopsToCheat cheated in the Zerolympics]], he could have actually beaten or tied with Quack Quack at some of the games.
* ActingYourIntellectualAge: Despite being roughly 11-12 years old, Mr. Cat has the intelligence of an adult and acts like one too; he's noticeably more mature than the other characters, and he does "adult" things like reading the news and drinking.
* AddictionDisplacement: He says he used to be addicted to [[GRatedDrug carrots]] before he switched to hurting Quack Quack as a new addiction, since the latter option damages Quack Quack's health instead of his own.
* AGodAmI: In Episode 23, Kaeloo screams "Good God!" and Mr. Cat assumes that she's referring to him.
* TheAlcoholic: It's a RunningGag to have him have a hangover, and he is actually shown getting drunk onscreen on rare occasions. In some instances, he gets so drunk that he ends up passing out. [[TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior Even though he's several years underage.]]
* AllLoveIsUnrequited:
** He utterly detests [[StalkerWithACrush Pretty]].
** Kaeloo has pushed him away more than once, and at other times [[UnrequitedLoveSwitcheroo he's rejected her.]]
* AllMenArePerverts: He's tried to have sex with Kaeloo several times, and he likes Playboy-esque magazines.
* AmazonChaser: He is a lot more attracted to Kaeloo when she is transformed as Bad Kaeloo. Emphasized by this quote in ''Let's Play the Very Special Episode'':
-->'''Mr. Cat:''' A muscular butt goes well with your tint!
* AmbiguouslyBi: Due to Kaeloo's AmbiguousGender, it's not clear if he only likes girls or if he's bisexual. It doesn't help that he seems to be more attracted to Bad Kaeloo, who is noticably more masculine than normal Kaeloo. When asked about his sexual orientation, the creators have merely referred to it as [[ShrugOfGod "ambiguous"]]. Averted in the pilot, where he openly expresses his attraction to males.
* AnimalStereotype: A snarky, mean cat.
* AnimeHair: His human form in Episode 176 has red hair which spikes in random places.
* AntiHero: Both this and an AntiVillain. Sure, he loves his friends and he is willing to protect them, but don't think for a second that he is any less of a {{Jerkass}} during those moments ([[JerkWithAHeartOfGold well, he can be nice sometimes]], but those moments are rare). He also usually has some selfish motive for helping them.
* AntiVillain: An interesting case, when he at least tries to be a hero.
-->'''Mr. Cat:''' I said I wanted to be the hero, not the good guy.
* AxCrazy: You really can’t get any closer to this trope than this guy. In some episodes he even has an actual ax.
* BadassAdorable: While a much more malicious and creepy example than the most, Mr. Cat qualifies - he is athletic and owns all sorts of weapons which he can use flawlessly during combat, to the point he was able to stop a ZombieApocalypse all by himself while showing off some impressive, almost [[ArtisticLicensePhysics physics-breaking]] moves. But the most impressive part is probably the fact that he is a cute little kitten who is 12 years old at most.
* BadassInANiceSuit: Not always, but Mr. Cat does seem to have an affinity for snazzy suits as of Season 2. One is a more traditional tuxedo while the other one is purple with a green tie.
* BadassNormal: He has no superpowers, but is still one of the most intelligent, agile, and capable characters on the show.
* BadPeopleAbuseAnimals: [[CatsAreMean Mr. Cat]], an anthropomorphic cat, regularly abuses non-anthropomorphic sheep for BlackComedyAnimalCruelty in various ways such as kicking them, lighting them on fire and ''shooting them''. The sheep are MadeOfIron so they survive all of it.
* BeautyIsBad: In-universe, he's said to be very attractive and handsome, but he's also evil.
* BelligerentSexualTension: His relationship with Kaeloo sometimes goes into this territory.
* BerserkButton:
** He HatesBeingTouched, and once threatened to [[DisproportionateRetribution kill his friends]] (literally, he had a knife held to Kaeloo's throat and a bazooka pointed at Stumpy's face) if they did.
** He also reacts very negatively being called a "kitty".
** Mr. Cat does ''not'' take kindly to people trying to hurt Kaeloo.
* BestFriend: He and Kaeloo are very close friends who trust each other more than anyone else and he is undyingly loyal to her.
* BeTheBall: Bad Kaeloo often beats him into the shape of a ball and tosses or kicks him around, usually when the episode involves a ball game.
* BigBad: He's the main villain of the series despite being a friend of the main cast.
* BigBrotherBully: Suffered heavily from two of these before running away from home.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: He speaks to the audience fairly often and breaks the fourth wall more than any other character does.
* BrokenAce: He is almost just as good at everything as Quack Quack, but he comes from a DysfunctionalFamily and he suffers from severe psychological and [[InferioritySuperiorityComplex self-esteem]] issues.
* BrutalHonesty: When Mr. Cat actually bothers to be honest, it tends to be very negative. For example, when he gets invited to a dinner party by Kaeloo, the first thing he does is criticize the dining room's decor. He also tends to tell [[TheChewToy Stumpy]] to his face that he's ugly, stupid, [=and/or=] a loser.
* TheBrute: He isn't big or [[DumbMuscle dumb]], but he has an impressive arsenal of weapons, is extremely AxCrazy and [[HairTriggerTemper short tempered]] and long story short, you don't want to mess with him.
* TheBully: He is prone to insulting others, taking their stuff and embarrassing them like a typical schoolyard bully.
* CardCarryingVillain: Mr. Cat takes being called "evil, sadistic, cruel, egoistic and psychopathic" as a compliment.
* CharacterCatchphrase:
** Whenever someone says something that he finds shocking or ridiculous, he emphatically asks "What do you mean, [insert information here]?!"
** In the French dub, he also has "C'est quoi ce délire?!" (Can be translated to "What is this nonsense?" or "What the hell?")
* CatsAreMean: Although in his case, that's an {{understatement}}.
* CatsAreSnarkers: Mr. Cat is often rude and sarcastic to the people around him. However, he is implied to be a StepfordSnarker.
* CatsAreSuperior: He's the [[SurroundedByIdiots only character in the show to actually possess some degree of common sense.]]
* CatsHateWater: Averted; he seems to find the idea of taking a bath relaxing.
* CatsHaveNineLives: He has said that this is true in several episodes.
* CatStereotype: [[InvertedTrope Inverted]]. Orange cats are supposed to be heroic and humble, and the incorrigibly pretentious, egoistic and narcissistic Mr. Cat is the VillainProtagonist of the show.
* ChainsawGood: One weapon he uses a lot is the chainsaw.
* CharacterDevelopment: As the show progresses, he tends to show more signs of actually caring about his friends' wellbeing and is slightly less mean.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: The second season finale had him [[spoiler: attempt to save Quack Quack from Olaf]] and state that he does trust Stumpy in times of danger. In the season 3 premiere, [[spoiler: he actually shows signs of guilt for the way he and the others treated Stumpy in earlier episodes, and shows that he genuinely cares for the rest of the main four.]] And in season 4, he is actually kind to the rest of the main four in most episodes, especially Kaeloo.
* ChickMagnet: A downplayed example. He is [[InformedAttractiveness supposedly very good looking]] and out of the three female characters on the show, two of them have major crushes on him.
* ChildProdigy: He is around 12 years old but is already well-versed in the fields of quantum physics, engineering, and technology, to name a few.
* CombatSadomasochist: Some episodes imply that he enjoys the violence Bad Kaeloo inflicts on him almost as much as the violence he uses on others.
* ComedicSociopathy: He isn't the only character who has this, but he is the one who exhibits this the most.
* ConMan: In season 3, he starts becoming one of these, scamming people with fake Cinderella stories and fake advertisements for products that don't actually work.
* TheConfidant: As Kaeloo learns to stop suppressing her emotions and express herself more freely throughout the series, Mr. Cat becomes this to her, as she vents to him about all her problems.
* ConspicuousGloves: A pair of dark purple fingerless gloves. According to the expository comic, he's been wearing them since infancy.
* ConsummateLiar: Though the others' stupidity may be the reason they believe his lies more than anything else.
* CoolCat: AxCrazy, [[CatsAreMean mean]] and [[CatsAreSnarky snarky]] tendencies aside, Mr. Cat fits this pretty well, being an athletic, highly intelligent, charismatic cat who sometimes [[SharpDressedMan dresses in snazzy clothing]] and has at least two girls crushing on him.
* CoolKidAndLoserFriendship: The cool kid to Kaeloo's loser.
* CrazyJealousGuy: Don't ever let him think that you're trying to "steal" Kaeloo from him, even though she's not actually his girlfriend. For reference, in "Let's Play Danger Island Survivor", when Kaeloo says Quack Quack is her "best friend", Mr. Cat first drives a wedge between Kaeloo and Quack Quack, then [[DisproportionateRetribution makes Quack Quack suffer the pain of falling into a precipice filled with hungry gators.]] In another episode, when the gang are playing Sleeping Beauty with Kaeloo as the princess and Stumpy as the prince, Mr. Cat shoots Stumpy with a bazooka to stop him from getting to Kaeloo since he says Sleeping Beauty is "his".
* CreepyChild: One of the most notable examples is in "Let's Play Magicians" when he dances around singing "la, la, la" while ''sticking knives into Quack Quack's body''.
* CuteLittleFangs: Since he's a cat. They [[FangsAreEvil go well with his personality.]]
* TheCynic: Easily the most cynical of the characters. He truly believes that the world is a bad place and always tries to see the bad side of everyone and everything.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Most of his backstory is one big NoodleIncident, but what the show has revealed is that his past involves [[AlcoholicParent an alcoholic father]], a mother who was so abusive that the mere sound of her voice over the phone is enough to make him run away screaming in terror, [[BigBrotherBully two abusive older brothers]] who were so cruel he had to run away from home, the death of one or more loved ones, and being forced to face life-or-death situations. These issues continue to affect Mr. Cat to this day, since his current worldview and personality were entirely shaped by the horrific experiences he faced as a young child.
* DeadpanSnarker: If there’s snarking to be done, [[CatsAreSnarkers it's usually Mr. Cat doing it.]]
* DefrostingIceKing: In the earlier seasons he mostly acted cold and cruel towards Kaeloo, Stumpy, and Quack-Quack and would only show kindness to them in extreme circumstances to prove that he really did love them deep down. As the series progresses, he slowly becomes more comfortable with openly expressing that he cares about them and doing acts of kindness for them. This is heavily [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] in the fifth season, where the others tell Mr. Cat that they think he's become a nice person, causing him to worry about losing his JerkassFacade.
* DisneyDeath: [[spoiler: "Let's Play Goodbye Mr. Cat"]] has him disappear, only for it to be revealed that he’s alive, just invisible.
* DisproportionateRetribution: He either menaces people with weapons or plans elaborate revenge schemes for minor inconveniences.
* DirtyKid: He's rather pervy for a preteen. He likes looking at pictures of girls in skimpy clothes and has attempted to sleep with Kaeloo on multiple occasions.
* DomesticAbuse: He was constantly yelled at by his mom and beaten by his brothers.
* TheDragAlong: Usually reluctant to join the rest of the cast in doing anything. This results in them having to beg him, bribe him or force him to join in.
* DubNameChange: Monsieur Chat to Mr. Cat in the English dub, Signor Gatto in the Italian dub, Čak in the Serbian dub, and Pan Kot in the Polish dub.
* DubPersonalityChange: The original (French) version of the show has Mr. Cat be a super genius who is right about everything; in the English dub he generally switches between being of average intelligence and being stupid. The dub also made him a lot meaner to Kaeloo; despite him being a {{jerkass}} in the original, the dub added more insults in scenes where he hadn't insulted her in the original. In addition, the English dub averts the AmbiguousGender trope by having Kaeloo be confirmed to be a girl, so he often makes misogynistic remarks towards her, which is entirely absent from the French dub.
* DysfunctionalFamily: One of the main reasons for his FreudianExcuse was coming from a very abusive family.
-->'''Mr. Cat: ''' [[TheAlcoholic Papa drank]], Mama screamed, [[BigBrotherBully my brothers beat me up]]...
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness:
** In the series pilot, it's suggested that he thinks that Kaeloo, Stumpy and Quack Quack are annoying because they're "study kids". In the series proper, Mr. Cat himself is a highly intelligent ChildProdigy who is well-versed in science, math, and psychology and can build and repair cool gadgets, and is much more intelligent than the others.
** In "Let's Play Doctors and Nurses", he is the perfect example of EvilIsHammy, but in later episodes he's the least hammy character on the show and sometimes the OnlySaneMan.
* EnfantTerrible: He's not even a teenager yet and he's already a manipulative, dishonest psychopath.
* EnragedByIdiocy: [[TheSmartGuy Mr. Cat]] has a HairTriggerTemper because he's SurroundedByIdiots but finds stupid people very annoying. To the extent that [[WithFriendsLikeThese he's actually tried to kill his friends]] because they anger him with their stupidity.
* EscapeArtist: In a police themed episode, he is tied to a chair inside a closed room while Stumpy interrogates him. Stumpy leaves the room and closes the door. By the time Stumpy has said a few words to Kaeloo outside the room, Mr. Cat has somehow untied himself, escaped the room ''and'' stolen Stumpy's car.
* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: Played with; whether he loves his mother or hates her [[DependingOnTheWriter depends on the episode.]]
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Mr. Cat may be an evil, psychopathic jerk, but he still loves the rest of the main four like family.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He’s just as ashamed of his actions as Stumpy and Quack Quack in Episode 69 when he realized he’d possibly let down several fans, and made Kaeloo cry. Also, when reading "Sleeping Beauty", he points out how disgusting it is to take advantage of an unconscious person and violate their consent.
* EvilBrit: The Miam Animation dub portrays him with a slightly Americanized British accent.
* EvilGenius: TokenEvilTeammate of the main cast and the only actual smart character... [[NotSoAboveItAll most of the time.]] He also has many weapons, some of which are implied to be made by him and he loves scientific experiments.
* EvilHasABadSenseOfHumor: He takes delight in tormenting other people, [[WithFriendsLikeThese even his own best friends]], in various ways, ranging from burning Stumpy's comic book collection to trying to kill people with chainsaws.
* EvilIsBurningHot: Mr. Cat is often associated with fire, and the intro Kaeloo made for season 3's premiere episode even depicts him as some type of flaming entity with fire-based powers.
* EvilIsHammy: Averted, except in "Let's Play Doctors and Nurses"[[note]]The second episode of the series[[/note]] where he was extremely hammy, likely due to EarlyInstallmentWeirdness.
* EvilIsPetty: In addition to doing regular villain-y things, Mr. Cat also stoops to low levels to do petty things just for the sake of it, such as traumatizing Quack Quack and scamming Stumpy because he wanted to steal from Stumpy the grand sum of... ''four cents''.
* EvilLaugh: In the theme song, and almost OnceAnEpisode.
* EvilRedhead: Aside from having orange fur, his human version in Episode 176 is shown to have red hair.
* EvilSoundsDeep: He has a much deeper voice than the rest of the cast and sounds like an adult despite actually being 11 or 12.
* ExpressiveEars: During an OhCrap moment, both of his ears move downwards.
* FangsAreEvil: He's the main antagonist and since he's a cat, he has a pair of fangs.
* FantasticRacism: He hates both ducks and rabbits with a burning passion. In "Let's Play Peace, Man", he actually says that cats are a superior race to ducks, and repeatedly tries to convince people that cats are the most superior species in Episode 108 [[spoiler: and succeeds with everyone except Kaeloo]].
* FieryRedhead: His human form in Episode 176 has red hair.
* FlatEarthAtheist: Doesn't believe in magic, the supernatural, the paranormal or the afterlife despite living on a planet that runs on magic and having encountered demons, aliens and ghosts.
* {{Foil}}: To Kaeloo (see above).
* FreudianExcuse: He had to run away from home as a result of living with an extremely DysfunctionalFamily, and has experienced other traumatic events such as the death of a loved one.
-->'''Mr. Cat:''' As a kitten, I was tied up in a sack and thrown into a rushing river...
* FurryReminder: Several episodes will point out that he is a cat, and he often does cat-like things like meowing and purring, licking his fur and playing with a ball.
* GadgeteerGenius: He is stated to have several "inventions" lying around, and was even able to build a [[spoiler: cloning machine]] in "Let's Play Detectives". He was also the one who [[spoiler: fixed the broken time machine]] in Episode 76.
* TheGamblingAddict: He bets on horse races, poker games and other such things fairly often and, depending on the episode, either makes or loses large amounts of money that way. In some cases, he also makes bets which get out of hand and culminate in him being harmed in some way.
* GeniusBruiser: He owns many weapons and several episodes (for example, [[HalloweenEpisode "Let's Play Scaredy Cat"]]) show that he is a skilled fighter. He is also a GadgeteerGenius who can build gadgets like cloning machines and robots and is a child prodigy.
* GivenNameReveal: Episode 240 reveals his name to be [[spoiler:Hector]].
* GleefulAndGrumpyPairing: The grumpy to Kaeloo's gleeful.
* {{Greed}}: As shown in Episode 128, he's even willing to traumatize Quack Quack for the sake of cheating Stumpy out of the measly sum of four cents.
* HairTriggerTemper: As a result of being EnragedByIdiocy and SurroundedByIdiots at the same time, Mr. Cat has an extremely short temper and will blow up at people for the smallest things.
* HatesBeingTouched: Played with. He claims to be unable bear the idea of being touched by another person and once threatened to literally kill Stumpy and Kaeloo with his weapons if they dared to touch him. However, when Kaeloo is in distress, he comforts her through physical gestures like patting her back and hugging her, and he and Kaeloo often touch each other during casual conversations.
* HeavySleeper: Justified since he's a cat.
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: As the series progresses, Mr. Cat swings back and forth between being a horrific bully and being a caring friend to the other main characters. In Episode 204, Mr. Cat's friends tell him that he's starting to become a nicer person, and the trope is discussed. Mr. Cat acknowledges that being kinder to people would help him feel happier in the long run, but he also thinks that being kind all the time would be boring because being mean allows him to have fun, and in the end he decides that he'll accept a little bit of both.
* HiddenDepths:
** He is a GadgeteerGenius and a child prodigy.
** Mr. Cat is capable of manipulating others and pulling off a BatmanGambit when he wants to.
** "[[HalloweenEpisode Let's Play Scaredy Cat]]" shows him to be capable of [[spoiler: pulling off some [[ArtisticLicensePhysics incredible fight moves]] and single-handedly stopping and reversing a zombie apocalypse.]]
** How about the time Mr. Cat started a business and got rich in just one day, out of sheer boredom?
* HiddenHeartOfGold: On rare occasions, Mr. Cat has proven that he does care deeply about Kaeloo, Stumpy, and Quack-Quack, and he does nice things for people. He explains to Quack-Quack that he believes that nice people get "stepped on" so he makes every effort to appear mean and tough to avoid being bullied himself.
* HypocriticalHeartwarming: While he acts like a {{Jerkass}} to Kaeloo, Stumpy and Quack Quack, he does care about them and will try to protect them if something or someone else tries to harm them.
-->'''Mr. Cat:''' ''[sees Quack Quack hurt]'' What's the big idea? Who whacked duck-face instead of me?!
* IfItsYouItsOkay: Mr. Cat hates the concepts of dating and marriage and often dismisses them as a waste of time that ends poorly. However, he has repeatedly expressed that he wants to date (and eventually marry) Kaeloo.
* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: His narcissism and egoism actually stem from deep-seated self-esteem issues.
* InfernalBackground: When he gets really angry, the background behind him sometimes bursts into flames.
* InformedAttractiveness: He's implied to be very good-looking in universe and many of the other characters have complimented his looks.
* InsaneTrollLogic: When attempting to justify some inexcusable action of his. For example, in the first episode, during a game of prison-ball, Mr. Cat sets up a basketball hoop to catch the ball in. Kaeloo says that it's cheating, and Mr. Cat explains why it isn't: The game is called "prison-ball", and "all prisoners play basketball".
* InsufferableGenius: He ''is'' genuinely intelligent and he knows it far too well, which adds to his already big ego.
* InterspeciesRomance: Has a massive crush on Kaeloo, who is a frog.
* InVinoVeritas: When he gets drunk, he tends to show his HiddenHeartOfGold and become much nicer.
* InvoluntaryShapeshifter: Usually thanks to Bad Kaeloo beating the stuffing out of him.
* ItsAllAboutMe:
** He will push Kaeloo past RageBreakingPoint OnceAnEpisode just because he [[YoureCuteWhenYoureAngry enjoys seeing her transform]], despite the fact that she doesn't want to.
** In Episode 83, he [[spoiler: [[RelationshipSabotage makes Quack Quack and Eugly break up]] and completely ruins the Valentine's Day party simply [[MakesSenseInContext so that he could get Bad Kaeloo to kiss him.]]]]
* {{Jerkass}}: A self-absorbed liar who is sadistic, fine with cheating, and has a bad attitude.
* JerkassToOne: While he is rude and cruel to everyone, he mostly leaves Kaeloo and Stumpy alone unless they really annoy him. His really AxCrazy, sadistic side mostly comes out around Quack-Quack.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: On rare occasions, he can be this. It mostly shows during his interactions with [[MoralityPet Kaeloo]].
* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: ''Also'' this trope.
* KarmaHoudini: [[KarmicButtMonkey Not normally]], but there are a few episodes where he gets away with his actions:
** In Episode 53, he receives no punishment whatsoever for turning Olaf against Kaeloo, which almost endangers her, [[MakesSenseInContext just for some money.]]
** In Episode 64, he gets away with serving trash as food in a restaurant and forcing Stumpy to work for him.
* KarmicButtMonkey: He almost always gets comically punished for the things he does, especially when [[HulkingOut Bad Kaeloo]] shows up.
* LaughablyEvil: He is an AxCrazy and sadistic psychopath who loves torturing Quack Quack, but he is also the source of quite a few funny moments, mostly thanks to his [[CatsAreSnarky snarkiness]], proneness to BlatantLies and [[InsaneTrollLogic completely off the wall justifications for the terrible things he does]]. In the second episode, he was also the personification of the EvilIsHammy trope, through that was mostly thanks to EarlyInstallmentWeirdness.
* TheLeader: When the main four gets in trouble, they turn to him to solve their problems.
* [[LittleMissSnarker Little Mister Snarker]]: He is a young, underage boy who is incredibly sarcastic.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: While all of Kaeloo's friends are a LivingEmotionalCrutch to her, Mr. Cat seems to be especially important to her.
* LovingBully: He often picks on his crush, Kaeloo, to get a reaction out of her.
* MadeOfIron: One episode had him treat Bad Kaeloo’s beating like a massage. Keep in mind that this is the same Bad Kaeloo who managed to [[spoiler: [[SuperStrength catch a meteorite with her bare hands]]]] in Episode 77.
* MadLibsCatchPhrase: "What do you mean, [insert shocking statement said by other character]?"
* MadScientist: He apparently has several inventions and likes to conduct scientific experiments.
* ManipulativeBastard: At times, such as in "Let's Play Justice Masters" where he attempts to convince his friends to buy him something by telling them that he will commit suicide if he can't have it.
* MeanBoss:
** To Stumpy in Episode 64.
** To Kaeloo in Episode 94.
* MesACrowd: Several episodes have multiple clones of him running around, such as Episode 94. [[spoiler: "Let's Play Detectives" shows him to have built a cloning machine, which he uses to clone Quack Quack.]]
* MrFixit: He can repair broken machines with ease.
* MuscleAngst: According to "Let's Play Spies", Mr. Cat hates his body, and his lack of muscles is a major factor in that.
* MustHaveCaffeine: In the mornings, he can barely function until he has coffee.
* MutuallyUnequalRelation: In the early episodes, Mr. Cat is well-respected and adored by the rest of the main four, who see him as a good friend, while he sees them as annoying nuisances who ruin his life with their mere presence. This gradually gets toned down, as they start to realize that he has flaws and he comes to see them as close friends.
* MyInstinctsAreShowing: In Episode 74, he pounces on the ball and plays with it like a real cat would.
* {{Narcissist}}: "Let's Play Figurines" had him [[ComicalOverreacting Comically Overreacting]] to losing a whisker.
* NerdyBully: Mr. Cat is a downplayed example, as in addition to traditional bullying, he also bullies other characters for being stupid and sometimes uses his knowledge of science to make inventions that he uses for bullying.
* TheNicknamer: He rarely calls anybody by their real name, opting to use a nickname based on their species or its traits. For example, Kaeloo the frog is "Froggy", "Tadpole" or "Fly-Nibbler". Stumpy the squirrel is "Nutcracker" and Quack Quack the duck is "Duck-face".
* NightmareFetishist: He is an AxCrazy psychopath whose favorite hobby is torturing Quack Quack and he has a crush on a big, muscular toad who always beats him up.
* NoodleIncident: A lot of things about his [[DarkAndTroubledPast past]] before moving to Smileyland.
-->'''Stumpy:''' Wow, you really do know a lot about funerals, Mr. Cat.\
'''Mr. Cat:''' ''[sadly]'' A bit too much, Stumpy...
* NotSoAboveItAll: He normally says he doesn’t want to participate in the others' games, but in Episode 99, he admits that he hates it when they have fun without him. In [[HalloweenEpisode "Let's Play Scaredy Cat"]], he actually yells at them for not asking him to join.
* OffscreenTeleportation: He can do this even ''without'' using a cat flap.
* OohMeAccentsSlipping: In the English dub, his voice actor often slides between an American accent and an Australian one, sometimes even in the middle of a sentence. In some cases, it leaves him with a weird accent that sounds half-American and half-Australian.
* OppositesAttract: He is an AxCrazy and cynical {{Jerkass}} who has a crush on the friendly and cheerful NiceGirl Kaeloo.
* ParentalIncest: Mentions having an oedipus complex towards his mother.
* ParentalFavoritism: In "Let's Play Spies", he mentions that one of the reasons his brothers bullied him was because he was their mother's favorite child.
* PerpetualFrowner: Mr. Cat's default facial expression is an angry scowl; on a few rare occasions, he does smile (usually when watching someone else get hurt).
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: He is a [[FantasticRacism cat supremacist]] and a sexist.
* PopularIsDumb: Averted. He's well-liked by his peers, but he's the smartest of the cast.
* PrehensileTail: He uses his tail for various purposes, such as holding things and playing soccer.
* RaisedByWolves: In "Let's Play Baby-Sitting", he tells Kaeloo a fake backstory in which he was raised by a salmon (a normal one, not a FunnyAnimal) who saved him when his horribly abusive family tried to drown him. Subverted in that we later find out that he lied about this.
* ReallyFondOfSleeping: Mr. Cat loves to take naps and is often shown sleeping onscreen. This is explained in-universe by the fact that he's a cat, so he needs 16 hours of sleep a day.
* RebelliousSpirit: Breaks all the rules just because he can since he thinks it makes things more interesting.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: His eyes are red and he's a dangerous weapon-wielding psychopath.
* RenaissanceMan: Mr. Cat knows everything there is to know about everything and possesses a wide variety of skills, such as science, athletics, psychology, financial management, business management, using weapons, being a con artist, and a host of other things.
* TheRunaway: The whole reason he's even in Smileyland is because he ran away from home to escape from his [[BigBrotherBully abusive brothers]].
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: Savvy guy to Kaeloo's energetic girl.
* ScaryTeeth: Whenever he gives ones of his trademark {{Slasher Smile}}s, all of his teeth suddenly become sharp, as opposed to just his canines.
* SesquipedalianLoquaciousness: [[TheSmartGuy Mr. Cat]] has the tendency to do this sometimes. Of course, nobody understands what he's talking about, since he's SurroundedByIdiots, so he ends up having to explain it in simpler terms.
* SirSwearsALot: Mr. Cat tends to swear a lot. Depending on the episode, it's either the GoshDarnItToHeck type of "swearing", or actual swears that get [[SoundEffectBleep bleeped out.]]
* SlasherSmile: He pulls one almost OnceAnEpisode.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Mr. Cat believes himself to be cooler than he actually is.
* TheSmartGuy: The smartest character of the main cast, aside from maybe Quack Quack.
* SourOutsideSadInside: Implied in "Let’s Play Spies", and a few other episodes.
* SpeciesSurname: "Mr. Cat" the cat. When he was a kitten, people used to call him Mr. Kitten.
* SpotlightStealingSquad: The series mostly focuses on him and Stumpy.
* StalkerWithACrush: Starts becoming one to Kaeloo as the series goes on, and he starts doing weird things like taking pictures of her butt and putting them on a calendar or breaking into her bedroom to sleep in her bed.
* StepfordSnarker: Implied in a few episodes.
* SuddenlyBilingual: In Episode 69, a ParodyEpisode of ''WesternAnimation/DoraTheExplorer'' it is revealed that Mr. Cat can speak German.
* SurroundedByIdiots: He's the only actual smart character on the show, the other "smart" characters being {{Ditzy Genius}}es.
* TantrumThrowing: When he gets really angry, he may throw objects around. Sometimes it's accompanied by kicking things in the air and smashing stuff.
* ThatPoorCat: Always winds up being the "poor cat" in question.
* TokenEvilTeammate: He's one of the main cast, but he is a VillainProtagonist.
* TookALevelInKindness: While still snarky, cruel and mean-spirited, he comes off as more of an actual friend to the other characters in later episodes.
* TooKinkyToTorture: He tries to get Kaeloo, who he has a crush on, to torture him and actually enjoys it. WordOfStPaul says he's actually a masochist.
* ToxicFriendInfluence: He's a terrible influence on Stumpy and encourages him to do bad things like annoying a teacher to get kicked out of class, torturing Quack Quack for fun and robbing a supermarket.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: He loves sausages.
* {{Troll}}: He loves to mess with his friends and make Kaeloo angry for his own personal amusement.
* TroubledAbuser: Mr. Cat grew up in a family where he was treated with neglect and severe abuse from his parents and older brothers. He ran away from home to escape the abuse he faced at their hands and ended up in Smileyland, where he befriended Kaeloo, Stumpy, and Quack-Quack. In the present day, he continues to abuse Quack-Quack for fun, which Quack-Quack passively accepts because he believes that Mr. Cat is hurting inside and the abuse that he inflicts on him helps him feel better.
* TroubledButCute: At least, Kaeloo and Pretty think so.
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: Isn't even a teenager yet, but over the course of the show he has [[TheAlcoholic gotten drunk several times]], tried to have sex, and tried to actually kill people.
* {{Tsundere}}: A rare male example - he acts like a complete {{jerkass}} most of the time, even to his "friends" and is often reluctant to join their games, but he secretly cares for them and gets angry when they forget to invite him to play. His good side mostly comes out around Kaeloo, his LoveInterest.
* TwitchyEye: Quite frequently, usually due to the stupid behavior of the other characters.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Kaeloo, especially in the later seasons. Even when all of the other characters, including Stumpy and Quack Quack, ditch her or outright turn against her, Mr. Cat continues to stay by her side no matter what.
* UngratefulBastard:
** In "Let's Play Goodbye, Mr. Cat!", he repays Kaeloo, Stumpy and Quack Quack's help by [[spoiler: beating them up]].
** In Episode 90, after Quack Quack rescues him, Kaeloo and Stumpy from being impaled by sharp objects, Mr. Cat actually responds by calling him a show-off. Yes, really.
* UnreliableNarrator: In Seasons 1-4, Mr. Cat had an established backstory in which he ran away from home to escape his abusive family, consisting of an [[AlcoholicFather alcoholic father]], a mother who always screamed at him, and [[BigBrotherBully two older brothers who bullied him]]. However, he kept saying things that [[MultipleChoicePast conflicted with his established backstory. Season 5 explains that this was actually due to him deliberately telling lies about his past, and the established backstory was the only true one.
* UnresolvedSexualTension: With Kaeloo.
* UnmanlySecret: He has stuffed animals, including a stuffed toy hedgehog which he enjoys hugging. He also secretly enjoys watching K-dramas and cries during the more emotional scenes.
* VillainProtagonist: He's one of the main protagonists, plus he is evil.
* VillainsOutShopping: Episodes normally have him minding his own business until somebody suggests that they play a game.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With the rest of the main four.
* VocalDissonance: He has a deep, adult-sounding, slightly raspy voice, despite the fact that he is a cute little cat who is less 13. [[TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior To be fair, his voice is far from the only thing that makes it hard to believe that he is a child...]]
* WeaksauceWeakness: One of his biggest weaknesses is [[spoiler: "zumba with friends"; that is, if his friends turn on zumba music and dance, he starts [[InvoluntaryDance involuntarily dancing along with them]] and is forced to stop doing anything else he might be doing at the moment.]]
* WhenHeSmiles: A strange example. While smiling isn't exactly a rare occurence for him, it's usually either a SlasherSmile or an arrogant smile. However, he sometimes makes a sweet little smile [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold when he decides to be nice to others for once]] (especially [[MoralityPet Kaeloo]]) that's actually rather cute.
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: Deconstructed. Mr. Cat gained most of his smarts from a DarkAndTroubledPast. He may be a mere preteen, but he's well versed in advanced sciences, [[GadgeteerGenius can repair and build machines, gadgets and robots]] and thinks more like an adult than a kid. In addition, he's prone to TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior and, thanks to his unusual level of knowledge for someone his age, can easily see through scams, lies, and manipulation. However, Mr. Cat is actually quite unhappy about never having gotten the chance to experience a normal happy childhood and resents that other kids his age are able to be innocent and carefree while he's saddled with the burden of having the mindset of an adult.
* WouldHitAGirl: He has hit Pretty several times and sometimes [[BullyingADragon threatened to hit Kaeloo too]].
* YoungerThanTheyLook: He's between eleven and twelve years old, but looks and sounds like a young adult.

[[quoteright:207:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/prettyonly.jpg]]

The main cast's neighbor. She is an AlphaBitch who considers herself to be the pinnacle of beauty. She is madly in love with Mr. Cat[[note]]It's implied she only likes him for his looks[[/note]] ([[AllLoveIsUnrequited not that the feeling is even close to being reciprocated]]), but she utterly despises the rest of the cast except Eugly, who she does have a few PetTheDog moments with. Pretty will do anything to look good and stay young and slim.

In Season 5, Pretty is revealed to have undergone [[SameCharacterButDifferent offscreen]] CharacterDevelopment and befriended the main four, having given up her ways as a bully.
----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: To Mr. Cat. While she's not physically ugly, her personality is horrible, she's annoying and stalker-ish, and she doesn't care about him beyond his looks.
* AllegedLookalikes: In one episode, Kaeloo claims that she and Eugly look a lot like each other. Pretty is ''not'' amused.
* AllGirlsLikePonies: She fought over one with Kaeloo.
* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: She has a crush on Mr. Cat.
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Mr. Cat has an extreme hatred towards her.
* AlphaBitch: Definitely. Look at [[http://kaeloo.wikia.com/wiki/File:Shutupkaeloo.jpg this picture.]] She regularly picks on Kaeloo and Stumpy and looks down on people for being poor or ugly.
* AlwaysIdenticalTwins: Averted. She and Eugly are fraternal twins.
* AmazingTechnicolorWildlife: She’s a [[PinkMeansFeminine pink]] rabbit.
* AntiVillain: She’s not outright evil, just mean.
* AttentionWhore: She claimed to be DrivenToSuicide because of having a sister like Eugly ([[KickTheDog while Eugly was standing next to her]]) simply to get attention from Mr. Cat. She also has no problem with utterly humiliating the main four on the internet to get more likes on ''Website/{{Facebook}}'' parody site "Fakebook".
* BeautyIsBad: She's a beautiful but snobby and rude girl.
* BelligerentSexualTension: With Stumpy. They fight a lot, but she seems to be attracted to him and she [[spoiler: kissed him offscreen]] in Episode 136.
* BerserkButton: One of her ears is longer than the other, but it's a good idea not to mention that to her.
* BigBrotherBully: Well, Big Sister. While they are twins and from the literal standpoint, you could say that Eugly is the "big sister", Pretty definitely comes off as this to Eugly - she treats her as a slave and constantly insults her.
* BigGuyLittleGuy: The Little Guy to Eugly's Big Guy.
* BlackComedyAnimalCruelty: Exaggerated in "What if We Played at Riding Ponies", where she shoots a pony in the head[[note]]The scene was censored in the Miam Animation dub[[/note]] and threatens to put her new pet unicorn to sleep if it doesn't win a race.
* BrutalHonesty: Being an AlphaBitch, she has no qualms with telling anybody what she finds wrong with them.
* BunniesForCuteness: As mean as she is, Pretty ''is'' adorable.
* BullyingADragon: Has insulted Kaeloo several times.
* BullyTurnedBuddy: In Seasons 2-4, Pretty was an AlphaBitch who often bullied Kaeloo, Stumpy, and Quack-Quack, and was an AbhorrentAdmirer to Mr. Cat who kept violating his boundaries. In Season 5, Pretty is revealed to have undergone an offscreen HeelFaceTurn and befriended them all after becoming a nicer person.
* ButtMonkey: Not to Stumpy’s level, but still.
* CameraFiend: With her smartphone camera.
* DependingOnTheWriter: Pretty can either treat Kaeloo like a good friend or mercilessly bully her (the latter is used much more often).
* DirtyKid: Sometimes she's a pervert, especially when it comes to dealing with Mr. Cat.
* DubNameChange: In the Polish dub, her name is [[SpellMyNameWithAnS Priti]].
* EarsAsHair: From Seasons 2-4 she has these, as opposed to Eugly's FurryFemaleMane.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: She cares deeply about her sister and will not hesitate to stand up for her.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: In Season 5, she gets a new hairstyle to go with her new personality.
* TheFashionista: She criticizes others for their weight or clothing choices.
* FatAndSkinny: The skinny to Eugly's fat.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: In her initial appearances the entire cast (except Eugly) hated her, even [[FriendToAllLivingThings Kaeloo]]. Subverted as she eventually befriends them.
* FullyDressedCartoonAnimal: She wears a complete outfit consisting of a hair bow, tank top, skirt, shorts and sandals. In Season 5 she gets a new outfit but this trope is still in effect.
* FurryFemaleMane: In Season 5, her ExpositoryHairstyleChange leads to her having one of these.
* GirlyGirlWithATomboyStreak: She likes wrestling and she also seems to enjoy playing sports.
* GreenEyedMonster: She is shown to be jealous of Kaeloo at times, like in "What if We Played at Riding Ponies?". And not just Kaeloo, in one episode, she even calls a random TV star a "bitch" just because she was beautiful. Bonus points for the fact that her eyes are [[LiteralMetaphor actually green]].
* HairTriggerTemper: She makes Mr. Cat look patient.
* HeelFaceTurn: Since Season 5.
* HiddenDepths: Episode 120 shows that she is a highly skilled athlete and capable of putting up a fight.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: It's hinted at that she might not be as mean as she acts and [[SlaveToPR only does it to uphold her social status as an]] AlphaBitch.
* HypocriticalHeartwarming: She will stand up for her sister when other people insult her, but she herself says absolutely horrible things to her. A good example of this is when Stumpy insults Eugly, then Pretty beats him up, but tells Eugly he was right.
* InformedAttractiveness: Everybody claims her to be the prettiest girl ever, although she's not so much more beautiful than they are.
* InterspeciesRomance: She likes Mr. Cat, who is a cat. [[AllLoveIsUnrequited He, on the other hand, despises her.]]
* ItsAllAboutMe: Pretty rarely takes the emotions of others into account. One example of this can be seen in Episode 118, where she takes utterly humiliating pictures of the main four and puts them on Fakebook so she can get more likes.
* {{Jerkass}}: She mistreats Eugly, is egotistical, and a big jerk. Spends half an episode tormenting Kaeloo, who is already conscious about her body, by making fun of her looks. And she throws Stumpy on the ground and wipes her feet on him [[DisproportionateRetribution just because he jumped into her arms after getting scared, thinking there was a snake on the ground.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: On a few very rare occasions, she does show that she loves her sister and sometimes she is even nice to Kaeloo.
* KarmaHoudini: She often gets away with misdeeds such as gets away with forcefully taking away Kaeloo's horse and shooting said horse in the head when she finds a unicorn instead, or publishing the main four's embarrassing secrets in a tell-all book and selling two million copies of it to the public.
* LeanAndMean: She tries everything she can to stay slim, and is the thinnest of the three girls in the cast.
* LimitedWardrobe: Ironically, she only has one outfit despite being TheFashionista.
* MadLove: Mr. Cat has outright told her to commit suicide, yet she still thinks he likes her and that he is PlayingHardToGet.
* MeaningfulName: She is supposed to be beautiful, InUniverse.
* ModestyShorts: Wears a pair of shorts under her skirt.
* {{Narcissist}}: She is egotistical and obsessed with her looks, to the point that it's practically the main focus of her life.
* PeerPressuredBully: Pretty only bullied her sister and the main characters because she felt peer pressure from characters who never appear onscreen, and realizing that she was hurting both them and herself for the sake of people she barely knew is a major factor in her HeelFaceTurn.
* PetTheDog: She is seen telling the others not to laugh at Eugly being a ballerina, although she abuses her most of time.
* PinkMeansFeminine: Has pink fur and wears a pink bow and pink nailpolish.
* PolarOppositeTwins: With Eugly. Pretty is a SpoiledBrat and an AlphaBitch who is mean to everyone and likes to establish her authority, and Eugly is a sweet ExtremeDoormat and tends to be nice to people.
* PopularIsDumb: Averted; she's quite intelligent when she needs to be.
* RememberTheNewGuy: Kaeloo recognizes her in her first appearance. Mr. Cat seems to as well, given [[NoodleIncident the way he]] [[FurryReminder hisses at her]].
* RichBitch: She is the richest of the cast and always flaunts it.
* SameCharacterButDifferent: From her introduction until the end of season 4, Pretty was a [[ItsAllAboutMe self-centered]], [[JerkAss mean]] {{narcissist}} and an AlphaBitch. In Season 5, Pretty is revealed to have undergone offscreen CharacterDevelopment and becomes a friendly, helpful, and caring person, with absolutely none of her previous character traits present.
* SelfieFiend: She is often shown taking selfies. It's implied that she is some sort of social media influencer.
* SlaveToPR: In one episode, she throws a big party and plans on inviting everyone, but winds up not inviting Kaeloo just because the rest of her guests, with the sole exception of Mr. Cat, hate Kaeloo. When Kaeloo shows up to the party anyway, believing that Pretty just forgot to invite her, Pretty yells insults at her so everyone else will hear, but privately apologizes to her and seems genuinely upset about doing this just for her reputation.
* SmugSnake: She's ''extremely'' arrogant.
* SpoiledBrat: She is rich and arrogant, and throws tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants.
* StalkerWithACrush: She is frequently shown taking pictures of Mr. Cat with her phone and invading his personal space.
* StalkingIsFunnyIfItIsFemaleAfterMale: It would probably be less funny and more creepy if Mr. Cat was the one stalking Pretty.
* ThemeTwinNaming: Inverted. She's named Pretty, and her sister's name is Eugly (pronounced like the word "ugly").
* TooImportantToWalk: She usually gets Eugly to carry her around on her shoulders instead of walking.
* TookALevelInKindness: She became nicer in Season 5.
* YouthfulFreckles: She has dark pink freckles on her cheeks.

[[folder:Eugly]]
[[quoteright:193:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/euglybackstage.jpg]]

The [[PolarOppositeTwins fraternal twin sister]] of Pretty, Eugly is a fat, ugly rabbit with a kind heart. She’s capable of beating anybody up, but she rarely does so of her own accord, usually under Pretty’s orders.
----
* {{Acrofatic}}: Despite being overweight, she is physically very strong and can even carry four people at a time. She is also very good at ballet.
* AllegedLookalikes: Kaeloo claims that she and Pretty look very much like each other.
* AlwaysIdenticalTwins: Averted. She and Pretty are fraternal twins.
* AmazingTechnicolorWildlife: A pink rabbit.
* BarefootCartoonAnimal: She wears a tee-shirt, a skirt and shorts, but no shoes.
* BigGuyLittleGuy: The Big Guy to [[AlphaBitch Pretty]]'s Little Guy.
* BirdsOfAFeather: She and Quack Quack are both incapable of speech, kind to others, and [[WithFriendsLikeThese mistreated by the rest of the cast.]]
* BruiserWithASoftCenter: An ''extremely '' soft center. Despite her imposing physical size, she is very shy and sensitive.
* DubNameChange: In the Italian dub, her name is Brutty, and in the Polish dub, it's Agi.
* EmotionalBruiser: She acts as Pretty's bodyguard, but on the outside, she is a very sensitive soul.
* ExpressiveShirt: The designs on her shirt change depending on how she feels.
* ExtremeDoormat: Everybody, especially [[{{Jerkass}} Pretty]], walks all over her.
* EyesOutOfSight: Her eyes are normally covered by her bangs.
* FatAndSkinny: The fat to Pretty's skinny.
* FatComicRelief: Eugly, the most overweight of the characters, was frequently used as a source of comic relief until she was PutOnABus in season 5.
* FurryFemaleMane: Unlike the other female characters on the show, she has a head full of hair.
* GentleGiant: She's very friendly despite her large size.
* GirlishPigtails: Her FurryFemaleMane has pigtails.
* GonkyFemme: Eugly is fat and not very attractive, but her gentle, romantic and sensitive personality, as well as her love for ballet make her traditionally feminine.
* HandSignals: She occasionally uses these to communicate.
* HiddenDepths: [[BalletEpisode Episode 67]] proves that she is a great ballerina. [[MusicalEpisode Episode 89]] shows her to be [[SingingVoiceDissonance an extremely good singer]], but then again, the rest of the normally HollywoodToneDeaf cast were singing well in that episode.
* InterspeciesRomance: She is a rabbit and her boyfriend, Quack Quack, is a duck.
* LimitedWardrobe: Like her sister, she has only one outfit, consisting of a black ExpressiveShirt, a pink skirt and black shorts.
* MeaningfulName: Not the most attractive person, is she?
* ModestyShorts: Wears a pair of black shorts under her skirt.
* NiceGirl: Unless you hurt Pretty or Quack Quack, she is a surprisingly sweet and kind bunny.
* OfficialCouple: Becomes Quack Quack's girlfriend, following the events of Episode 54.
* OnlySaneMan: Despite being ProneToTears and EmotionalBruiser, she might be the most normal character in the show, at least if you compare her to [[DysfunctionJunction the rest of the cast]].
* PolarOppositeTwins: With Pretty. Pretty is a SpoiledBrat and an AlphaBitch, but Eugly on the other hand is extremely kind and sweet.
* ProneToTears: She will burst into tears almost OnceAnEpisode.
* PutOnABus: In Season 5, she leaves Smileyland to go to an art school and is reduced to occasional cameos.
* TheQuietOne: Doesn't speak a lot and mostly speaks in whispering when she does.
* RedheadsAreUncool: Eugly is a shy and awkward redhead who is constantly subjected to verbal abuse and harassment by everybody except her boyfriend, Quack-Quack.
* ShrinkingViolet: She's extremely shy.
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: Eugly is dating Quack Quack, who is one of the nicer characters on the show and also the only character who usually isn't mean to her in any way.
* StoutStrength: She can carry four people at a time and win a fight against Mr. Cat.
* ThemeTwinNaming: Inverted. Her sister's name has the opposite meaning of hers.
* TheUnintelligible: She normally either mumbles or whispers. Pretty and Quack Quack can understand her perfectly well, though.
* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: To Quack Quack. Mr. Cat learned that the hard way.
* YouthfulFreckles: She has dark pink freckles on her cheeks.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Olaf]]
[[quoteright:197:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sofolaf.jpg]]

A penguin with a [[FakeRussian Russian accent]] who wants to TakeOverTheWorld and [[AnIcePerson cover it with snow and ice]]. He is [[CargoShip married to an ice cube named Olga]].
----
* AerithAndBob: The only character with a normal name.
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: [[spoiler: Episode 104 revealed that he was kicked out of the place where he lived by the other penguins for marrying an ice cube.]]
* BigBad: Of the second season finale.
* BigOlEyebrows: He has much bigger eyebrows than the rest of the cast.
* CargoShip: He's married to an ice cube.
* CompanionCube: Olga, his ice cube.
* DitzyGenius: He's good at building robots and machines, but he has zero common sense.
* EnfantTerrible: Considering that he lives in Smileyland, which is only for children.
* EnragedByIdiocy: Olaf has a pretty short temper, but he gets angry at [[TheDitz Stumpy]] very easily because he's even more of an idiot than the other characters.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Despite his evilness, he loves Olga very much and will do anything for her.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He claps for the main cast's ballet performance in [[BalletEpisode Episode 67]] [[spoiler: even though it goes horribly wrong, because at least they try to help.]]
* EvilGenius: He can build robots and gadgets with ease, and comes up with plans to beat his enemies and TakeOverTheWorld.
* EvilHasABadSenseOfHumor: The most notable example of this is Episode 121, where he [[spoiler: tricks the main four into thinking that they've all lost their jobs, causing them to panic and worry, then reveals to them that it was a "joke" he played on them once the show's directors reveal that the main four were never fired.]]
* EvilIsHammy: He's one of the hammiest characters on the show, and a villain.
* EvilLaugh: In the theme song.
* EvilSoundsDeep: Like Mr. Cat, he has a rather deep voice.
* FeatheredFiend
* FishOutOfWater: Olaf was this in his early appearances, due to being new to [[CrapsaccharineWorld Smileyland]]. Smileyland is nothing like the ice caps where Olaf had spent his entire life and is populated by crazy people, [[WorldOfJerkass most of whom are also jerks]], and Olaf would constantly be shocked by the main four's bizarre antics despite being just as insane as them.
* FreudianExcuse: [[spoiler: He was ostracized by other penguins for being married to an ice cube and left to drift on an iceberg in the ocean until he finally reached Smileyland.]]
* GadgeteerGenius: Not only does he build robots, he also [[spoiler: invented a FreezeRay in Episode 104, which he used on Kaeloo and Mr. Cat.]]
* HarmlessVillain: He's not even remotely close to succeeding in his attempts to TakeOverTheWorld.
* HollywoodToneDeaf: He’s a terrible singer. He seems to be aware of it too, as he uses his singing to torture Kaeloo and Mr. Cat after capturing them.
* {{Hypocrite}}: He accuses the main four of being insane. While this is true, Olaf himself seems to be lacking in the sanity department.
* IAmNotWeasel: He’s an emperor penguin, not an auk. [[RunningGag Too bad nobody else remembers that]].
* IcyGrayEyes: He has gray eyes to reflect his cold and calculating nature, as well as his desire to turn the world into a planet of ice and snow.
* LargeHam: The hammiest character on the show, in fact.
* LaughablyEvil: He is a [[EvilIsHammy hammy]] and HarmlessVillain whose sheer ineptitude at everything and failure to intimidate the main cast make him fairly entertaining to watch.
* MisunderstoodLonerWithAHeartOfGold: Hilariously subverted. [[AllLovingHero Kae]][[IdiotHero loo]] believes this to be the case for [[MadScientist Olaf]]. He actually ''is'' insane and evil, [[HorribleJudgeOfCharacter she just doesn't realize it.]]
* TheNapoleon: His temper is just as short as he is.
* NonMammalianHair: Olaf has [[BigOlEyebrows big, bushy eyebrows]] and, as of Season 5, a man bun and beard.
* TheNoseless: Lampshaded in Episode 55, where Stumpy and Quack Quack attack him with smelly gas, [[StylisticSelfParody but he can't smell it since he doesn't have a nose.]]
* NotSoHarmlessVillain: Episodes 103 and 104[[note]]Two-Part Episode[[/note]] had him [[spoiler: kidnap Quack Quack to exploit his powers and [[HarmlessFreezing freeze Mr. Cat and Kaeloo]] and put them in PeopleJars!]]
* OddNameOut: The only character that has a normal, human-sounding name.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: In Episode 77, he is utterly furious when he hears that the world is ending. He states that since he is going to take over it, ''he'' should decide when it ends.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: He has red eyes and is one of the villains.
* RobotMaster: He built Serguei and [[spoiler: an army of mini-Sergueis]]. In Episode 79, he [[spoiler: [[UnwillingRoboticisation turns Stumpy into a]] {{cyborg}}]].
* RoyalWe: As he considers himself "emperor of the world", he often refers to himself as "we", though sometimes he uses "I".
* SmallNameBigEgo: Olaf has deluded himself into thinking that he is the ruler of the world and demands that people literally drop to their knees and prostrate themselves before him when he walks by.
* TakeOverTheWorld: What he wants to do, [[HarmlessVillain but he seems to have had no success.]]
* TooImportantToWalk: He has his robot Serguei carry him from place to place most of the time.
* UnexplainedAccent: Has a Russian accent despite being from [[spoiler: Smileyland's equivalent of Antarctica.]]
* UsedToBeASweetKid: Implied in Episode 104.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: Smileyland is only for children, but he [[EvilSoundsDeep sounds]] (and kind of looks) like an adult. It doesn't help that he is "married".
[[/folder]]
[[folder: Game Rule]]
A personification of the concept of rules who comes to Smileyland in Season 5 after being sent to fix the other characters' blatant disregard for rules when they play games.
----
* AnthropomorphicTypography: Her standard form is an exclamation mark.
* ArcVillain: Game Rule is the main antagonist of Season 5, but she undergoes a redemption arc at the end of the season.
* BigBad: She is the overarching antagonist of Season 5.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Despite the other characters calling her friend throughout Season 5, until the season finale, they all openly admit to finding her annoying and overbearing.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Unlike the other characters, who are FunnyAnimals, Game Rule is a flying exclamation mark with shapeshifting abilities.
* OddFriendship: Game Rule is a personification of the concept of rules and takes games very seriously as a result. Despite this, out of all the characters, she ends up becoming closest to Mr. Cat, who is lazy, laidback, and rebellious.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Stumpy's Sisters]]
Stumpy's seven younger sisters, who appear starting in Season 5. They are:
* Lavanade, who possesses supernatural powers.
* Poucave, an aspiring journalist who spies on people to write articles about them.
* Violasse, who has terrible luck and keeps finding herself in bad situations as a result.
* Vitamine, who moves at super speed.
* Nombril, who is constantly begging for attention from Stumpy.
* Ardoise, who enjoys handling finances.
* Cramoisie, a young bully in the making.
----
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: Stumpy sees Nombril, Poucave, and Cramoisie as this. Nombril in particular spends every waking minute of her day trying to get his attention, to the point where Stumpy cannot sleep or use the bathroom in peace while she is around him.
* AttentionWhore: Nombril is one of these. In most cases she specifically seeks out the attention of her older brother, but it is suggested that she'll accept attention from anyone. In Episode 241, when her and her sisters line up to board the train at the train station, Nombril pushes the others to make her way to the front so that everyone on the train will see her boarding first and she'll grab their attention.
* BigBrotherWorship: Violasse idolizes Stumpy and often praises him for being cool.
* BigSisterBully: It is unclear whether Cramoisie is younger or older than Violasse, but the trope still applies to them. Cramoisie goes out of her way to make Violasse feel bad, and constantly abuses her both verbally and physically.
* BigSisterInstinct: Vitamine looks out for the other sisters (and Stumpy) when they're in trouble.
* BlessedWithSuck: Vitamine has SuperSpeed. Unfortunately for her, she has no way to come down to a normal speed, which means she can't communicate with the people around her because they don't understand. It also hinders her ability to enjoy day-to-day activities. For example, being the goalie in a game of soccer with her brother is not fun because to her, it looks like the ball is moving in slow-motion, so it's too easy and boring.
* BornUnlucky: Poor Violasse's defining trait is her bad luck, which is somehow even worse than Stumpy's and constantly lands her in danger.
* BrattyHalfPint: Cramoisie. She is [[VagueAge "under 6 years old"]] and a {{jerkass}} who spends all her time insulting other people or pushing around her sister, Violasse. Her horrible behavior is generally met with zero consequences, as Kaeloo forgives her due to her young age, [[CatsAreMean Mr. Cat]] is also a terrible person so he outright encourages her, and Stumpy thinks she just [[BrutalHonesty has no filter]].
* BrutalHonesty:
** Cramoisie is described by Stumpy as "having no filter", and upon meeting Kaeloo and Mr. Cat for the first time, she labels them "ugly and fat" and "a twisted narcissist" respectively.
** Vitamine is prone to this, but unlike Cramoisie she [[InnocentlyInsensitive doesn't intend to be rude]].
* CharacterCatchphrase: In the French dub, Nombril's catchphrase is "Moignon, tu me vois?" (Stumpy, do you see me?)
* ChildProdigy: Despite her young age, Ardoise is a real pro when it comes to handling money.
* CreepyChild: Subverted with Lavanade. She has abnormally pale skin, wears all-black clothing, and has supernatural powers including the ability to summon spirits. However, despite this she shows no actual signs of creepy behavior. Instead, she is portrayed as an affectionate girl with a strong sense of justice who enjoys things like jokes and hugs.
* CuddleBug: Lavanade quite enjoys hugs, to the point where she hugs Quack-Quack immediately after being introduced to him for the first time.
* CuriousAsAMonkey: Violasse is a curious child who keeps getting into dangerous situations because she can't resist the urge to explore, which is made worse by the fact that she [[BornUnlucky has terrible luck]]. In her debut episode she falls into a portal and when Stumpy goes to rescue her, he keeps begging her to just stay where she is so he can go get her and take her home, but she keeps finding new portals to jump into for the sake of exploring and has several near-death experiences from which she is only saved by her GoodLuckCharm.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Lavanade often sics her ghosts on people for minor infractions, such as Nombril bumping into her or Kaeloo calling her powers "strange".
* FearlessFool: Violasse keeps running head-first into bad situations because she's curious to explore new places and lacks the intelligence to realize that she's in danger, and the danger is augmented by her [[BornUnlucky terrible luck]].
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: Ardoise is the responsible sibling to Stumpy's foolish sibling. Unlike the lazy, selfish Stumpy, Ardoise is helpful and responsible to the point where she learned about money management so she could take the burden of managing the household expenses off the shoulders of her family's StrugglingSingleMother. Kaeloo also lampshades this by noting that Stumpy would be a terrible example for Ardoise to follow.
* EarsAsHair: All seven of them tie their ears back with hairbands, suggesting this to be the case for them.
* HollywoodToneDeaf: Nombril is terrible at singing, and Cramoisie snarks that their parents should have named her "Casserole"[[note]]originating from the French expression "chanter comme une casserole", meaning "to sing badly and off-key[[/note]] instead of "Nombril".
* IdenticalTwinIDTag: All of the sisters in this family look nearly identical and each of them ties her [[EarsAsHair ears]] up and wears a onesie. The difference lies in their differently colored eyes[[note]]Cramoisie has green eyes, Poucave and Vitamine have red eyes, and Ardoise, Lavanade, Nombril, and Violasse have varying shades of blue[[/note]] and the fact that each of them wears a onesie with a different color and design on the front.
* InnocentBlueEyes: Ardoise, Lavanade, Nombril, and Violasse have blue eyes and are relatively innocent and sweet, as opposed to red-eyed ImmoralJournalist Poucave and green-eyed {{Jerkass}} Cramoisie.
* ImmoralJournalist: Zigzagged with Poucave. She values the truth more than anything and refuses to allow her journalism to be used to spread lies, but the "immoral" part largely stems from her complete disregard for other people's boundaries, as her tactics involve hiding just out-of-sight and spying on people to get information about their private lives. The other characters call her out on it but she continues to do so with zero regard for their wishes.
* ItsAllAboutMe:
** Aspiring journalist [[IntrepidReporter Poucave]] finds material for her news articles by spying on other people and writing down information about their private lives. When asked by the subjects of these articles to please respect their privacy and boundaries, Poucave's response is a BluntNo.
** Nombril's attempts to draw attention to herself often result in her not paying attention to her surroundings, with poor consequences for the people around her.
* {{Jerkass}}: Cramoisie spends her time insulting the other characters. Stumpy describes her as "having no filter" while Kaeloo describes her as simply "impolite".
** JerkassToOne: Cramoisie is particularly horrible to Violasse, who is notably the only person she resorts to using actual physical violence on.
* TheJinx: Violasse doesn't just have bad luck, her bad luck is apparently prone to spreading to the people around her. Cramoisie gives her a wide berth because of this and refuses to allow Violasse to touch her because she thinks her bad luck will rub off on her.
* KarmaHoudini: Cramoisie gets away with fat-shaming Kaeloo and insulting Mr. Cat in her debut episode, because Kaeloo forgives her due to her young age and Mr. Cat, being a {{jerkass}} himself, finds Cramoisie's dickery endearing.
* LimitedWardrobe: They are each only shown wearing one onesie (which serves as an IdenticalTwinIDTag) and never shown wearing any other clothes.
* LittleMissSnarker: Cramoisie, who is stated to be under 6 years old and replies to everything with either an insult or a snide remark.
* MagneticMedium: Lavanade attracts spirits to herself without intending to.
* ManipulativeBitch: Cramoisie attempts to manipulate both Kaeloo and Mr. Cat with her "scared little girl" act to lure them into her trap and win the game in her DayInTheLimelight episode. Kaeloo and Mr. Cat being examples of this trope themselves, they see right through her and it doesn't work.
* MatureYoungerSibling: Ardoise is caring and responsible and often helps her mother with household accounting, unlike her older brother Stumpy, who is lazy, immature, and always selfish.
* NotSoAboveItAll: When Stumpy tells the sisters he can't buy them dessert after dinner, even Ardoise (the most selfless and helpful of the bunch) joins the others in finding ways to harass him into buying them dessert.
* OneWayVisor: Ardoise wears a pink one.
* PaperThinDisguise: During her investigations, Poucave wears a pair of Groucho glasses, which works on Kaeloo, Stumpy, and Quack-Quack, but not Mr. Cat. The in-universe explanation is that it only works on stupid people.
* PerkyGoth: Lavanade is pale-skinned, wears all-black clothing, and talks to ghosts. She's also a cheerful and friendly young girl who loves jokes and hugs.
* StalkerWithoutACrush: Stumpy laments that he can never take a nap, read a comic book, or even use the bathroom in peace because Nombril is always following him everywhere.
* StepfordSmiler: Stumpy and his sisters try to stay positive despite their hardships by reminding themselves that other people have it worse, but their problems are clearly taking a toll on each of them.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Stumpy's sisters look nearly identical, which is justified since they're implied to be septuplets; however, they bear a strong resemblance to Stumpy himself as well, to the extent that Kaeloo is able to identify Nombril as Stumpy's sister just by looking at her.
* SuperSpeed: Vitamine moves at super speed compared to the rest of the world. Unfortunately for her, even though this makes her able to move quickly from place to place, it also renders her incapable of communicating properly with those around her because they aren't able to perceive her speech.
* TooDumbToLive: Despite being fully aware that she [[BornUnlucky has terrible luck]], Violasse often puts herself into situations where she could easily be hurt or killed because she likes exploring. If it wasn't for her GoodLuckCharm she would have already been dead due to deciding to explore in dangerous places, facing circumstances such as nearly falling into a river of lava.
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: The first thing Cramoisie does when she meets Kaeloo is to insult her for having saddlebag fat and calling her ugly. One has to wonder where Cramoisie, a literal toddler, learned what saddlebag fat even is, let alone shame someone for it.
* UnfortunateNames: Their names are seen as ridiculous in-universe, to the point where it's a RunningGag for Kaeloo or Mr. Cat to point out the unusual nature of their names. To top it off, some of their names are actually words in the show's original language, French:
** Ardoise - Slate
** Cramoisie - Crimson
** Nombril - Belly button
** Poucave - Snitch
** Vitamine - Vitamin
* VagueAge: All we know of their ages is that they're younger than Stumpy, with Cramoisie in particular being stated to be less than 6 years old.
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: Ardoise is a toddler but is easily the most mature member of her family, even compared to [[ChildishOlderSibling Stumpy, the oldest]]. She's mastered money management and learned about the stock market, which is an impressive feat for a child her age, and uses her skills for good things such as helping her [[StrugglingSingleMother overworked single mother]] with the household accounting to make her life easier.
* YouthfulFreckles: Lavanade has these.
[[/folder]]

!!Minor Characters
[[folder: Ursula]]
Stumpy's [[LongDistanceRelationship long-distance]] girlfriend who he met online, and one of the few people to actually treat him well. She is mostly just mentioned in passing, or if she is physically present in the episode, she is offscreen.
----
* BeautyEqualsGoodness: Ursula is apparently really beautiful and she is one of the few genuinely nice characters on the show.
* CatsAreMean: Averted. She's one of the nicest characters the show has to offer.
* DubNameChange: In the Polish dub, her name is Urszuli.
* EveryoneLovesBlondes: Implied. While the audience never sees how she actually looks like, Stumpy's drawing of her implies that she is a blonde. Also, Stumpy, Mr. Cat [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer and Kaeloo]] find her attractive.
* GirlfriendInCanada: Subverted. Everyone thought Stumpy made her up, but she eventually meets them in person.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Assuming that Stumpy's drawing is anything to go by, she is a blonde. Also, she is one of the few genuinely nice characters on the show.
* InterspeciesRomance: She is a cat who is dating Stumpy, a squirrel.
* LongDistanceRelationship: She is in this kind of relationship with Stumpy.
* NiceGirl: She genuinely cares about Stumpy and sees what's in him beyond his ugly looks and stupidity. She is also quite polite and sweet when talking to Kaeloo and Mr. Cat.
* UglyGuyHotWife: While they aren't married, she has this dynamic with Stumpy: he is a funny-looking squirrel [[InformedDeformity who is apparently quite ugly in universe]], while she, [[TheVoice despite not being shown on-screen]], gets quite the positive attention from Mr. Cat and Kaeloo.
* TheUnseen: She never appears onscreen, and is usually just mentioned in conversations among the other characters.
* TheVoice: In the rare event she actually shows up in an episode, she is offscreen and only her voice can be heard.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Kaeloo's Family]]
Kaeloo's relatives, who are all toads.
----
* AlliterativeFamily: Almost everyone in the family has a name that starts with K. Known members are Kaeloo herself, Kevin, Kurt, Karl, Klaus, Karine, Krystal, Kilian, and Kimiko.
* BigBrotherBully: Kurt and Karl are this to Kevin, and act as a surrogate version to Kaeloo.
* DisappearedDad / MissingMom: We never see or even hear about Kaeloo's parents and Kaeloo is usually depicted as a MinorLivingAlone.
* {{Jerkass}}: Kaeloo's aunts, uncles, and cousins, except Kevin, are exceedingly cruel and make jokes at other people's expense. Bonus points go to Kurt and Karl who show up in Smileyland uninvited, eat all the food Kaeloo made and tell her to her face that it's horrible, threaten Quack Quack, tell Stumpy that Ursula deserves better than him, and make fun of Mr. Cat for being traumatized by the abuse he endured as a child.
* MeaningfulName:
** Karl means "strong man", or "manly".
** One possible meaning of the name Kevin is "gentle".
* WhiteSheep: Kevin and Kaeloo herself are the only nice members of the family.

[[folder:Stumpy's Parents]]
Stumpy's mother and estranged father.
----
* AlcoholicParent: Implied; Stumpy's sisters say that their father used to come home red in the face and that the way he acted was scary to them.
* DisappearedDad: Stumpy's father left the family, leaving his ex-girlfriend to take care of their eight children alone.
* NeatFreak: Stumpy's mother constantly asks Stumpy to keep his room clean, and if he doesn't clean it, she cleans it for him.
* ParentalNeglect: Stumpy's mother hardly pays any attention to her son, though she is at least caring enough to stop him from juggling chainsaws. Season 5 provides the explanation that she works three jobs to keep the family afloat, and thus does not have the ability to spend time with her children.
* StrugglingSingleMother: Stumpy's mother works three jobs just to earn enough money for her large family.
* UnreliableNarrator: Most of what the audience knows of Stumpy's mother is from what Stumpy says, which may be disproportionately skewed to make her look like a bad parent; Stumpy describes her as neglectful and lazy when in reality she is a hardworking woman who does not have enough time to spend with her son because she needs to work to earn money for the family.
* UnnamedParent: We never learn the name of Stumpy's mother.

[[folder:The Cat Family]]
Mr. Cat's parents, Al and Lola Felicia, and his two older brothers. Mr. Cat met the main four after running away from them.
----
* AbusiveParents: Lola Felicia is strongly suggested to have been one of these, to the point where the mere sound of her voice on a phone call is enough to make Mr. Cat flee the scene repeatedly screaming "NOT MAMA!" in utter terror.
* AlcoholicParent: Al is said to be a heavy drinker.
* BigBrotherBully: Mr. Cat's brothers used to abuse him physically, which is the primary reason Mr. Cat decided to run away.
* DysfunctionalFamily: The father is an alcoholic, the mother is constantly screaming, and all three sons grew up to be violent bullies who torment other people for fun.
* TheGhost: They never appear in the show and are only mentioned in passing by Mr. Cat.
* HappilyMarried: Al and Lola Felicia, [[UnreliableNarrator at least according to Mr. Cat]].
* MyBelovedSmother: It is eventually revealed that Lola Felicia was one of these. He temporarily moves back in with her in Episode 240 and when Kaeloo goes there to invite Mr. Cat to move back in with her, we hear Lola repeatedly screaming at him to "come to Mama!" and calling him names like "nice little kitty". Mr. Cat himself also often mentions that she's often prone to yelling at him and his brothers.
* ParentalFavoritism: Mr. Cat was Lola Felicia's favorite son, at least according to his brothers.
