The Guyver is the product of a Uranus bio-adapted armor bonding and enhancing a human host. The armor itself adapts itself to the user so the power of the merged being depends on the host's potential. As humans were engineered to be bio-weapons, the bio-armor system increases their powers far beyond even the aliens that created them. Later, humans that had been merged with the armor were referred to as 'Guyver', which in the Uranus' language means 'beyond normal' or 'Abnormal'. This is because a Guyver is beyond the control of the Uranus' psychic domination.

Traits common to all guyvers include:

* AchillesHeel: Two.
** There's a bullseye on the 'forehead' of any Guyver, also known as the Control Metal/Medallion. Since the Control Metal is vital, damaging it will cause a host's Guyver form to go wonky and destroying it will cause the armor to eat the host alive.
** The [[ChestBlaster Mega Smasher]]. It's a Guyver's most powerful weapon, but firing it requires opening the chest armor, and a Zoanoid strike while the armor is open can cause serious damage even to the NighInvulnerable Guyver.
* EnergyWeapon: The Head Beam, a small laser fired from-- you guessed it-- the head.
* {{Flight}}: All Guyvers possess a Gravity Orb on their waists which allows them to fly, among other things.
* FromASingleCell: The Guyver's Control Metal can regenerate the host completely with their memories intact even from only the smallest scraps of tissue on the control metal.
* HeadBlast: The Guyver suits come with a small laser emitter mounted roughly on the forehead. It's one of the weaker weapons at the Guyver's disposal, but benefits from being more precise and faster firing than something like the Pressure Cannon and Mega Smasher.
** The Sonic Buster overlaps with this trope and BreathWeapon given its sound based nature and the emitters being mounted roughly where the Guyver's mouth would be normally.
* HealingFactor: The bio-armor provides massive regenerative capabilities up to and including FromASingleCell.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: ALL GUYVERS. A single Guyver is equal to 1000 normal Zoanoids and a squad of Hyper-Zoanoids.
* PhlebotinumRebel: By definition, the Guyvers are this, as a Guyver is specifically what a human bonded with the alien bio-armor is called. Not only does the Control Metal on the armor free humans from the Uranus' psychic control, but the first thing the first Guyver did when the Uranus tried to give it orders was to blast one of their ships with the Mega Smasher. See WaveMotionGun below.
* SphereOfDestruction: Whenever a Guyver transforms, they are surrounded by a spatial distortion caused by the armor entering normal space from a sub-dimension. Anything around the host while transforming will be destroyed.
* SuperScream: The Sonic Buster is a powerful sound cannon fired from the Guyver's 'mouth'. It can disintegrate matter or cause foes to grip their ears in pain.
* SuperStrength: All Guyvers posses super strength, which is further enhanced by the Gravity Orb on their waists.
* WaveMotionGun: The Megasmasher! A massive particle cannon fire from the Guyver's chest that can cut a swath of destruction for miles.
* {{Vibroweapon}}: High Frequency Swords on the elbows of the Guyver can cut through almost anything.

The main character. Formerly an [[OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent Average High Schooler]], Sho becomes Guyver I's host after accidentally activating it, giving him the strength needed to oppose Chronos and their schemes.

* AntiHero: Has shades of being a ClassicalAntiHero at first. Later matures into either a KnightInSourArmor or straightforward hero depending on who you ask.
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: [[spoiler: As Guyver Gigantic Exceed]]
* BigNo: When he dons the Guyver unit for the first time. [[spoiler: Another finding out that he killed Enzyme II, his father.]]
* CloneAngst: Very briefly touched upon after Sho's first instance of [[FromASingleCell regenerating after being almost completely incinerated]] where he muses that he's technically a clone of the original Sho Fukamachi. Probably wisely for his sanity, however, [[SubvertedTrope he decides not to dwell on it.]]
* CursedWithAwesome: His perspective on the Guyver armor, which he has often lamented being unable to be free of. Understandable, since it has made him ''and'' his loved ones the target of an EvilCorporation, and the Guyver's powers are [[LovecraftianSuperpower pretty freaky.]]
* GoodThingYouCanHeal: He can heal from anything, [[FromASingleCell provided that the Control Medallion has a piece of him]].
* FusionDance: [[spoiler: With Aptom. And yes, it is awesome.]]
* HeartIsAnAwesomePower: Being the most sensitive of the Guyvers, Sho came off as being weak... in recent chapters, this seems to FINALLY be paying off.
* HeroicBSOD: After [[spoiler: killing Enzyme 2, his father.]] He grows out of this after Aptom's return.
** [[spoiler: Another when they find out Imarakum Mirabilis is Masaki Murakami. Again, Aptom gets him out of it.]]
* HeroicSafeMode: Damage to Sho's brain knocks him out of commission and the Guyver Unit acts to protect itself. [[spoiler: This is what kills Enzyme II, tragically.]]
* TheHero: In recent chapters, he's become this.
* HeroicWillpower: What allows him to [[spoiler: hijack the Gigantic upgrade away from Agito Makishima.]]
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: Until he got Guyver I.
* RidiculouslyAverageGuy: Compared to Agito, Risker, and Valkyria he's extremely average, being a student while the other three have had combat training. It makes his acts of heroism and his levels in badass all the more dramatic.
* TookALevelInBadass: During the Second Battle of Cloud Gate.
** Further proven where he's [[spoiler: sliced off Agito's arm and leg!]]
* UnskilledButStrong: For a large part of the manga Sho's only able to give Chronos trouble because of the raw power advantage he has over Zoanoids while having no combat training. Played up in his fight with Lisker, who's equally powerful and also a black belt, and is crushing Sho until his suit malfunctions.
* VictoriousChildhoodFriend: [[spoiler: With Mizuki.]]

!!Agito Makishima - Guyver III

[[quoteright:180:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/agito1.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:180: [[AGodAmI Zeus]]]][[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/evolution_guyver_3.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:WARRIOR OF DARKNESS!!]]

->Voiced by: Creator/HideyukiTanaka (Japanese, OVA's) Creator/KatsuyukiKonishi (Japanese), Creator/SteveBlum (English, OVA's) Brian Jepson (English, anime)

The third Guyver ever revealed, Agito helps Sho and the others fight Chronos in their plans for world conquest. However, he has his own agenda, which comes in conflict with Sho's desire.

* AffablyEvil: He consistently treats his allies with respect, and is actually much ''more'' understanding towards Sho than most of the latter's friends are. Just don't forget that he's got his own agenda.
* BatmanGambit: First Battle of Arizona HQ.
* CombatPragmatist: Has no qualms with innocents dying from his actions. [[spoiler: This is why Imarakum couldn't beat him.]]
* AGodAmI: Refers to himself as Zeus, the god who will overthrow Chronos and take over the world in its place.
* GoodThingYouCanHeal: Like all Guyvers, Agito possesses a healing factor. Which is a very good thing as he seems to be [[AnArmAndALeg especially prone to getting his limbs sliced off.]]
* {{Foil}}: To Sho. They're both Guyver wearers with a grudge against Chronos, and either could have been the hero of the series, but their background and motivations are completely opposite. Sho's an OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent who was given a Guyver suit, Agito's a trained Chronos fighter. Sho's fighting to protect his friends, while Agito only cares about power.
* TheLancer: Plays this role to Sho off and on.
* HeelFaceTurn: After Sho finally defeats him he seems to have taken a level in kindness. Time will tell if this sticks.
* {{Hunk}}: While it doesn't show well though his school uniform, Agito regularly trains for strength and martial arts, and when he's wearing a tanktop or naked, it shows.
* {{Jerkass}}: To Sho once he starts leading Zeus' Thunderbolts again [[spoiler: as Dark Gigantic.]]
* ManipulativeBastard: Has no qualms with using people as tools.
* NominalHero: He's against Chronos and extremely helpful to Sho and the others, but not an especially good person. He fights for personal power and ambition, and to ensure his own freedom, he'll conquer the world himself.
* TheStarscream: Starts out working for his father, and then Richard Guyot. Manages to use Richard to depose his father, but is unable to defeat Richard, and ends up going fully rogue.
* StudentCouncilPresident: Used to be one at the start of the series.
%%* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill

!!Inspector Valkyria F. Lisker - Guyver II-F
[[quoteright:95:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/valkyria.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:95:[[MsFanservice Guyver II-F]]]]

Formerly an inspector of Chronos, Valkyria Forsberg Lisker betrays them after becoming the host the Guyver II-F, a copy of the original Guyver II. Currently, it is unknown why did she betray Chronos.

* ActionGirl: The only female Guyver.
** DarkActionGirl: After she allies herself with [[spoiler: Guyot,]] opposing not only Chronos but the Guyver heroes as well. [[spoiler: Specifically, she wants {{Revenge}} on Sho for killing her step-brother, the original Guyver II.]]
* CanonImmigrant: She first appeared in ''Guyver: Out Of Control'' OVA, substituting Oswald. Years later she appeared in the mainline manga story.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Suffers the same fate as Lisker in ''Out Of Control''.
* MsFanservice: Every time that she dismisses her G-unit.
* FlawedPrototype: Her Control Metal is just a prototype manufactured by Chronos based off of what they learned from Oswald Lisker (Guyver II). Since it's only a prototype and not a perfect copy there is a time limit to how long she can stay transformed, her guyver form is prone to power fluctuation, and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking her clothes are not replaced by the armor.]]
* HeroicRROD: Her G-unit causes her to get exhausted.
* HourOfPower: Valkyria's Control Metal is a prototype created by Chronos and not a perfect copy of a true Guyver control metal. There is a limit to how long she can stay transformed.
* TheNudifier: Her experimental, imperfect Control Medallion ''destroys'' whatever she was wearing when she summoned her armor, inevitably leaving her naked on its dismissal
* TheReveal: [[spoiler: She's Lisker's step-sister.]]
* {{Revenge}}: [[spoiler: Wants to kill Sho for killing Lisker-- though she claims its not out of affection for her brother, but because she had defined herself by trying to surpass him in all things, and Sho killing him robbed her of that.]]
* SecretlyDying: Possibly. Even when she's not transformed, she is plagued by bouts of fatigue and dizziness as a result of becoming a Guyver; her powers may come with a fatal expiration date.
* SuddenlyBlonde: was a redhaired chick in ''Out Of Control''. In the manga, she's blonde. Justified, she's from Scandinavia. [[spoiler: That, and related to Lisker this time around.]]

!!Inspector Oswald A. Lisker - Guyver II
[[quoteright:111:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lisker2.png]]
[[caption-width-right:111: Guyver II]]

->Voiced by: Creator/NorioWakamoto (Japanese, OVA's) Creator/UnshouIshizuka (Japanese), Gary Michaels (English, OVA's) Creator/JasonDouglas (English)

An Inspector sent to Chronos Japan, he becomes Guyver II's host after accidentally activating it and fights against Sho. Unfortunately for him, his Control Medallion was damaged, allowing Sho to destroy it and resulting in Lisker being consumed by his own bio-armor.

* BadBoss: In the OVA he brutally killed off a dozen Zoanoids to test his power, in the 2005 anime he was more patient with his coworkers at least.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Dies getting devoured by his G-unit.
* DistaffCounterpart: Valkyria is this to him in ''Out Of Control''. [[spoiler: averted in the manga as she is Oswald's step-sister]]
* KilledOffForReal: People are quite sure the two Guyver IIs are different people.
* {{Retcon}}: The original design of Guyver II was very similar to Sho's only the sonic busters and breathers were paired up. The OVA gave a much better design and Takaya re-drew art for book one.
* SmugSnake: In the first OVA.
* TheRival: In the 2005 anime, he and Zerbebuth were in the same training group. This leads to them competing over who can defeat the renegade Guyvers. [[spoiler: When Lisker finds an injured Zerbebuth during Guyver III's invasion of the headquarters, he kills his old rival without a thought.]]
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: People argue over Risker or Lisker.
* TheStarscream: Had vibes in the 2005 anime.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Died at the end of the only chapter where he got to see action, which later even the writer admitted was a waste of the character. In somewhat of a remedy, the 2005 series has him survive until the destruction of Chronos Japan and gives him a subplot where he was old rivals with Zerbebuth from Chronos boot camp.

!!Guyver 0
The original Guyver from millions of years ago. He appears to have been a regular prehistoric human that Uranus bonded with a Guyver ForScience, only to terrify them with not only his destructive power but complete immunity to their mental control.
* GoneHorriblyRight: This is the origin of: ABORT! SWEETJESUSITHASAPARTICLECANNONFORATORSO!
* OhCrap: His wordless reaction when Archanfel manages to use the Unit Remover to separate him from the Guyver Control Metal.
* PosthumousCharacter: He only appeared twice and it was in the far distant past. Yet his brief rebellion is what caused the Creators to leave in the first place.
* YouRebelScum: Being bonded with a Guyver made him immune to the Creators' mental control, and he turned against them.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Guyver Allies]]

!!Tetsurou Segawa
->Voiced by: Kozo Shioya (Japanese, OVA's) Kousuke Takaguchi (Japanese, anime), Victor Garcia (English, OVA's) Lowell Bartholomee (English, anime)
Sho's best friend and resident GenreSavvy sidekick. It was his suggestion to take a shortcut home through the swamp that led to the fateful encounter with the Guyver Unit.
* BigOlEyebrows
* GenreSavvy: Thanks to his love for the sci-fi, most of his guesses about the Guyer and Chronos are right.
* TheGlassesGottaGo: Doesn't help that he's a fugitive.
* HumanResources: "Zoanoids are made of people?!"
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: Until X-Day.
* TrueCompanions: To Sho.

!!Mizuki Segawa
[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mizuki1.png]]
[[caption-width-right:150: Sho's Lover]]
->Voiced by: Yuko Mizutani (Japanese, OVA's) Creator/NanaMizuki (Japanese, anime), Creator/MelissaFahn (English, OVA's) Creator/LuciChristian (English, anime)

Tetsurou's sister, and Sho's LoveInterest.

* BreakTheCutie: Doesn't take it well when she's brought into the plot, sees people turning into monsters and getting killed around her.
* DamselInDistress: She gets kidnapped by Chronos in their attempt to captured Sho. [[spoiler: And again when Aptom is out for revenge and tries to force Sho into becoming Guyver I.]]
* ObliviousToLove: Tetsuro is at disbelief that she didn't notice Sho's crush.
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: Until X-day.
* PostHistoricalTrauma: Finding out the origin of humanity was too much for her.
* SayMyName: Her calling out for Sho has snapped him out of more than one state of dormancy.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: In the middle of the spectrum roughly, she's more a damsel but dresses less girly than Shizu, the action girl. But compared to Natsuki she's a girly girl.
* VictoriousChildhoodFriend: [[spoiler: With Sho.]]

!!Shizu Onuma - Zoalord Griselda
->Voiced by: Creator/MichikoNeya (Japanese), Creator/BrittneyKarbowski (English)
* BrakeAngrily: In episode 10 of the original [=OVA=].
* CombatMedic: not only she has healing abilities, but she's also a proto-zoalord. Meaning that even hyper Zoanoids struggle against her.
* CuteMonsterGirl: as Griselda
* LoveMartyr; Becoming Griselda is such a strain that she is not expected to survive two years.
* BreastExpansion: When transforming into Griselda (vol 18, chapter 111).
* TheMedic: can heal once transformed.
* MoralityPet: To Agito.
* SupremeChef: She whips out an excellent breakfast on the run with materials that were in a minifridge, and her chamomile tea is to die for.
* TeamMom

!!Masaki Murakami/[[spoiler: Imarakum Mirabilis]]
->Voiced by: Creator/MitsuakiMadono (Japanese), Creator/AndrewLove (English)
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/m14.png]]
[[quoteright:180:[[labelnote:'''SPOILERS''']]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/imakarum.png]] [[/labelnote]]

First shown as a journalist that takes interest on Sho and Chronos, Murakami is a proto-Zoalord bent on destroying Chronos, and by extension, Richard Guyot. [[spoiler: He was [[BackFromTheDead Revived]] by Archanfel, becoming Imarakum Mirabilis, the 13th Zoalord]]

* AlliterativeName: '''M'''asaki '''M'''urakami
* {{BFG}}: The Max Factory Zoanoid Buster Custom gun he packs in his anime appearances, an elephant rifle in a very big pistol.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler: Possibly. He still has his past memories, so there could be [[MoreThanMindControl something else instead]]]]
* CoolShades: wears these, [[SunglassesAtNight even at night.]]
* CombatPragmatist: forces to Zoanoids to fight each other against their will. [[spoiler: doesn't
* [[spoiler: TheDragon: To Archanfel. possibly [[VillainousFriendship his friend]] too]].
** [[spoiler: CoDragons: along with Hamilcar Barca]]
* [[spoiler: ExpositoryHairstyleChange: His hair becomes more stylish once he becomes Mirabilis]]
* FlawedPrototype: As a prototype Zoalord, he's weaker than other Zoalords (though stronger than an average Zoanoid by a long shot) and [[spoiler: [[SecretlyDying doesn't have long to live]]]]. [[spoiler: now that he's a full-fledged Zoalord, it doesn't seem to be the case anymore.]]
* HandCannon: His Zoanoid Buster supergun, which can take the head off a Zoanoid in one shot. This was actually an invention of the anime adaptations, as the manga ''did'' have him use an ordinary revolver at one point, but it obviously did nothing to Zoanoids. When the 2005 series rolled around, this weapon was brought back.
* IntrepidReporter: His world traveling got him captured and made into a prototype Zoalord. He introduces himself to Sho as a reporter when they meet afterward, although that seems to just be a cover to handwave why he's hunting Chronos until he's ready to tell the whole story.
* FaceHeelTurn: [[spoiler: Now a Zoalord.]]
* KnightTemplar: [[spoiler: Will stop at nothing to destroy Archanfel's enemies]]
* RevolversAreJustBetter: Depending on the media, averted and played straight. In the manga for one scene he wielded a revolver, it did nothing to the Zoanoid. However the Buster Gun has a rotating chamber holding only three bullets but can take off a Zoanoid's head with one shot, so played straight there.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: In the 2005 anime.
* SdrawkcabAlias: [[spoiler: His name is Murakami backward]]
* TeamDad: Or Team big brother with Odagiri being the team dad.
* ThatManIsDead: [[spoiler: Claims that, even though he has memories of his past, he's no longer is Murakami anymore]]

!!Toshiaki Hayami - Biofreezer
->Voiced by: Takeharu Onishi (Japanese), Creator/IllichGuardiola (English)
[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hayami.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:150:Bio-Freezer]]
Formerly part of Odagiri's team, Hayami tries to help Sho and Co. defeat Chronos' regime. As he had a virus that could melt his brain, he took the risk and became a Lost Number.

* AnIcePerson: can freeze anything at his proximity.
* BadAssBookworm: he's a scientist, after all.
* DarkIsNotEvil: he may be a Lost Number, but it's clear he's on Sho's side.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: He might be only as strong as a Zoanoid and he's exhausted after using his power. But he's a much better teammate against Enzyme III instead of another Guyver.
* FourIsDeath: [[spoiler: He used his ice powers four times.]]
** Inverted in that he's the fourth aid and the only one to succeed in becoming a Lost Number.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: Aptom will never forget what Hayami did for him.]]
* IncurableCoughOfDeath: [[spoiler: His lifespan is quite short and using his powers makes it shorter.]]
* LastOfHisKind: The sole survivor of Odagiri's group.
* LetsGetDangerous: the Enzyme III never saw it coming. [[spoiler: neither did Kabrarl Khan.]]
* OvershadowedByAwesome: unfortunately, for such an interesting power, he's surrounded by already powerful people. [[spoiler: until he [[HeroicSacrifice took one for the team]]]]
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: Kind of forms this with Aptom respectively.
* TheSmartGuy: He knew a lot about Cloud Gate's security and used more strategy to fight when he could.
* TeamDad: Acts like a dad or big brother to Sho during the rescue of Aptom.
* ThisLooksLikeAJobForAquaMan: Hayami isn't worth much in a straight fight but thus far his freezing ability has pretty much been critical for every victory against Enzyme [=IIIs=].
* TookALevelInBadass: being able to freeze Enzyme III without even touching them counts as this.

!!Aptom
->Voiced by: Creator/TetsuInada (Japanese), Robert Kraft (English)
[[quoteright:233:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zn_aptom_human.jpg]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/201a94a42c706c4f66baf639b945f568_6.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:I will defeat you Fukamachi!]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/8cb51b5aeb1e1a67e54e88a2a4563dad_1.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Hayami! Your sacrifice won't be in vain!]]

Sho's [[TheRival Rival]], Aptom is a Lost Number whose power was defined by copying their opponents looks. After some modifications by Barcas and Sho injuring him, He gains the abilities to absorb other Zoanoids and copy everything about them, even their powers and appearances.

* AntiHero: A KnightInSourArmor.
* AppendageAssimilation: thanks to his powers. [[spoiler: Chaos Mode takes it to a whole new level]]
* BodyHorror: [[spoiler: as Chaos Mode and Evil Aptom]]
* ContinuityDrift: Partially, one of the few in the manga actually, but he never attempts a doppelganger attack again after book seven, except in book 14 to teach Sho a lesson.
* DoppelgangerAttack: does this against The Hyper-Zoanoid five's remaining members.
%%* FashionableAsymmetry: The body of Evil Aptom takes.
* FromASingleCell: the same case with the Guyvers. But this one is born out of Physical trauma, apparently.
* FullFrontalAssault: after Sho defeats him a second time, he loses his clothing. [[spoiler: happens again when Hayami sacrifices himself.]]
* FusionDance: [[spoiler: An awesome union with Sho. Even Shin is amazed.]]
* GeneticMemory: thanks to his absorption powers.
* GoodCostumeSwitch: His recent form after being rescued by Sho and Hayami. After [[spoiler: Hayami sacrifices his body to let aptom absorb him and revive, Aptom who is deeply touch by his sacrifice, decides to carry out his wish to help destroy Chronos (it helps that Aptom hated Chronos anyway). His new form is insect-like and resembles his previous form yet blends in a few of Hayami's zoanoid traits and has white as the primary colors. Overall, the form itself very humanoid and looks closer to a Guyver than a zoanoid.]]
* GoodScarsEvilScars: has a scar across his face.
* GoodThingYouCanHeal: same case as the Guyver units.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: Thanks to Hayami.]]
* HiveMind: Probably.
* JerkAss: How he started and especially in book five and pre-time skip.
** JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Post-CharacterDevelopment.
* LastOfHisKind: Only one of his team to survive.
* LogicalWeakness: Some shape-shifting regulation devices override any unwanted changes - meaning that Aptom cannot infect or absorb anyone who uses those devices. This includes the Guyvers (thanks to the control medal on their forehead) and the Zoalords (thanks to their zoacrystals).
* MegaManning: once he absorbs his target, he gets their powers.
* ScarsAreForever: no matter how much his body gets damaged, his scar stays on.
* ShapeshifterWeapon: he is one.
* ShutUpHannibal: Blew up one of Khan's head-vines when it called Aptom shallow for [[spoiler: absorbing the dying Hayami, who wanted it that way.]]
* SpikesOfVillainy: [[spoiler: as Evil Aptom.]]
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: with the Guyvers, namely Sho. It gets better.
* TheLancer: for Sho now that Agito is leading Zeus' Thunderbolts. fittingly enough, he has a lance.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: Kills Sho's pursuers because he has a grudge against Sho and considers him ''his'' prey. He also [[spoiler: helps Sho get over his mental block and re-summon the Guyver]] because he won't fight Sho at less than full strength.
%%* TheVirus
* TookALevelInKindness: After being rescued by Sho and Hayami from Cloud Gate, being freed from Kahn's control, and Hayami sacrificing his body to allow Aptom to absorb him and regenerate back to normal, Aptom is deeply touched by both Sho and Hayami's heroism and the effort that gave to save him. Aptom becomes more mellow and friendly after and is less aloof while hanging around Sho and his group more.
%%* ViralTransformation
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: that's how he gets his new forms.
* WarriorTherapist: Brutally helps Sho snap out of his [[spoiler: patricide-induced]] HeroicBSOD and get him back in the game, so he can fight him properly. Because at this point he's still a bad guy, he's able to threaten and terrorize him and Mizuki enough to break through his block.

!!Natsuki Taga
->Voiced by: Tomo Adachi (Japanese), Creator/KiraVincentDavis (English)
* ADayInTheLimeLight: The first chapter of book 28 has her and Toki discussing events. Partially re-cap but at least we hear their thoughts on the matter.
* CallBack: She wasn't last seen since book 1 then returned in 9.
* CoolBigSis: She's not that much older than Sho or Mizuki but has shades of it.
%%* ImportantHaircut
* NerdsAreSexy: She was part of the same sci-fi club as Tetsuro and yet is quite attractive...leads to...
%%* SecretKeeper
* TomBoyAndGirlyGirl: Acts and dresses, without crossing to ActionGirl statues, to Shizu and Mizkui respectively.

!!Aso and Toki
* ADayInTheLimeLight: The first chapter of book 28 has he and Natsuki discussing events. Partially re-cap but at least we hear their thoughts on the matter. It's a better way than usual.
* ButtMonkey: Toki, Aso's punching bag.
%%* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: Aso is the tough stoic, Toki is expressive and kicked around.
%%* SternTeacher:Aso.
%%* TheStoic: Aso.
%%* ThoseTwoGuys
* WhatIf: Some fans see Aso as being an older and tougher Tetsuro, and Toki as Sho if he hadn't gained the Guyver and grew up.

[[WMG:Zoanoids]]
Zoanoids are enhanced humans capable of transforming into a powerful and monstrous bio-weapons. The process of creating Zoanoids originated from extra-terrestrial visitors that manipulated Earth's biosphere for millennia until they created the perfect bio-weapon for their needs: humans. The first Zoanoids were created by the Uranus, approximately 110,000 years ago, as the final outcome of their bio-weapons development program.

* AllThereInTheManual: Often in the data files the height, weight, and abilities of a Zoanoid that appeared for a page or two.
* {{BFG}}: A Hyper Zoanoid in book 27 has a large beam cannon for a torso!
* BossInMooksClothing: Enyzme III is classified as Zoanoid or a 'Guyver Killer' yet they have regeneration and anti-Aptom virus.
* DualWielding: Vamores have two shoulder cannons, some Zoanoids in book 14 had four to six!
* EliteMooks: Hyper Zoanoids.
* ManOfKryptonite: The Enzyme series are very powerful Zoanoids to begin with, but they have acid blood that's especially destructive against the material that makes up a Guyver's armor. And since it's in their blood, it makes seriously hurting them without getting extremely messed up in the process very difficult for a Guyver.
* RedShirtArmy: They're devastatingly effective against even human militaries, but are cannon fodder against even a single Guyver at its base level of power.
* SpikesOfVillainy: Many.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Numerous Zoanoids and Hypers with various powers are quickly killed off. Sadly the ones that tried to stop Guyver IIF in book 26 didn't get data files!

!!Genzo Makashima
->Voiced by: Creator/KenichiOgata (Japanese), Brando Austin (English)
* ArchEnemy: At least as long as he lasts in volume 1, to Sho.
* TheBerserker: As Enzyme I
* BoomHeadShot: In the OVA he gets half his head blown off with the pressure cannon...it just knocked him out for a moment.
* {{Determinator}}: He fought past the specs, and then there's his fight in the OVA.
* {{Gorn}}: His fight in the OVA series.
%%* JerkAss
* HeroKiller: [[spoiler: Kills Sho for the first time in their battle. GoodThingYouCanHeal, Sho.]]
* ManOfKryptonite: The Enzyme was created specifically to damage Guyver armor.
* MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily
* UnKnownRival: Sho wonders who he is when they first and...oh boy does Genzo make himself known to Sho.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: [[spoiler: Commanded to self-destruct upon his victory against the Guyver.]]

[[WMG:Hyper-Zoanoids]]
Hyper-Zoanoids are a recent innovation of Chronos and where not originally envisioned by the Uranus. Hyper-Zoanoids are enhanced zoanoids that are much stronger than standard zoanoids with unique abilities. Unlike standard zoanoids, they are much harder to create and the process for making them requires constant oversight as processing conditions are unique for every individual.

!!Hyper Zoanoid Team Five

* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: Team 5 showed up in the first half of the OVA series; instead of the Manga and 2005 Anime, where they appeared in the Relics Point arc.
* AllYourPowersCombined: Neo-Zxtole has all the abilities of Team Five and then some!
* BodyHorror: Elegen's death, being absorbed into Aptom's body ''while still alive'', is a pretty notable example even in a series as violent as this one.
* TheBrute: Darzerb, in terms of power, he's pretty professional when it comes to antagonizing the protagonists.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: In the first OVA Gaster thought it was cruel he was dragging out his fight and offered to end it quickly.
* FragileSpeedster: Thancrus, with his super-fast running and blade arms. So fragile he's always the first member killed off in any version.
* GlassCannon: Gaster, whose missiles and explosive liquid spraying abilities make him a formidable ranged combatant, but that's about it.
* GoldenSuperMode: 'Powered Zxtole' from episode six of the OVA is powered up by Elegen which beats Neo-Zxtole for first DeadlyUpgrade.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: Thancrus, after being vertically bifurcated by Guyver III in the Manga and 2005 Anime.
* MacrossMissileMassacre: Gaster's main power.
* MightyGlacier: Darzerb, with his unparalleled strength and laser-proof skin, but no particular movement abilities.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Neo-Zxtole.
* PlayingWithFire: Darzerb.
* SuperStrength: Darzerb and Zxtole.
* SpamAttack: Gaster's missiles.
* ShockAndAwe: Elegen's power.
* ShouldersOfDoom: Gaster stores his missiles here.
* SpellMyNamewithanS': All of them but Zektole/Zector/Ex-Tole/Zextor ect. is the worst.
* TakingYouWithMe: Zxtole's last move.
* TookALevelInBadAss: Zektole when he became Neo-Zxtole.
* TrueCompanions: The team are extremely loyal friends, and Neo-Zxtole is willing to sacrifice his life when the others are dead so he can get a chance to defeat Aptom.
* TunnelKing: One of Zektole's abilities.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Each member except for Zxtole, who doesn't have a back story, but he made up for it with a lot of cool moments. Thancrus is the saddest case, always being killed off first in any version with practically no development. In the original manga we don't even get to see what his human form looks like besides a vague outline in the distance before he gets killed.

[[WMG: The Council of Twelve]]

!!Archanfel
->Voiced by: Creator/YasunoriMatsumoto (Japanese), Grey Haddock (English)
The original zoalord that the Uranus created to command their zoanoid armies. Archanfel was completely loyal to the creators until the day they equipped a human with a bio-armor unit. Afterwards, they fled the earth for fear that such a power would fall into archanfel's hands. In the present day, Archanfel is the founder of Chronos and the leader of the 12 holy commanders. For all of his power, he has a hidden weakness that may spell the end for him soon.

* TheAce: Considering he's a bishounen who looks to be 20, apparently immortal, the strongest person on the planet arguably, built up a secret organization, and rules over the world, he's a dark version and leads to..
** BrokenAce: He may have a sympathetic back story that fleshes him out but he's pulled off quite a lot of stuff...also he's slowly dying.
* AllYourPowersCombined: Since the zoacrystals of the other 12 zoalords came from archanfel and the bio-energy used to empower the crystals was focused through his own form and crystal, many assume and even state that Archanfel can use all of the same abilities as the other zoalords.
* AwesomenessIsAForce: The sheer magnitude of his charisma can stun the unwary.
* AngelicMotif: His name is only a letter away from Archangel....
* AntiVillain: [[spoiler: He saved the world once, and has been slowly dying ever since then. Now he's out for revenge, and humanity will become his tool.]]
* BigBad: Creates Chronos and uses it to take over the world. In spite of that however he doesn't seem to pursue his goals out of a petty, selfish desire for power and authority which leads too...
** BigBadEnsemble: With Guyot and Apollon.
* DemiurgeArchetype: Archanfel is a being of light created by a group of beings from the heavens, has angelic attributes, and successfully took over the world. He is also a massive control freak who named his company after a Titan, and despite his own awesome power is no god himself. Everything he does in the setting is to increase his own control over humanity, be it information control or otherwise.
* EarthShatteringKaboom: What happened when he used all of his powers to destroy [[ColonyDrop the asteroid the creators sent to destroy the earth.]] So..Kaboom but not quite so earth-shattering.
* EvilOverlord: Evil in the sense that he's taken over the world, caused lots of destruction and death all for his own ambitions. That said, he [[PragmaticVillainy never does these things]] [[ForTheEvulz because he enjoys them]] or thinks humanity deserves it.
* FullFrontalAssault: There are many instances in the manga where Archanfel is depicted nude, particularly when it shows flashbacks to pre-history, although to be fair, they hadn't really invented pants yet.
* LightIsNotGood: He resembles an angel and is the child of a heavenly host. He's also the BigBad and almost killed the heroes with a thought.
* ParentalAbandonment: Feel betrayed by the Uranus when they up and left him alone on earth after they created him to be their great general.
* PetTheDog: His back story in book 15 gives him some sympathy. In Volume 32 he's also been protecting and playing games with Tetsuro and Mizuki during their stay on his island.
* RageAgainstTheHeavens: The Ouranos abandoned him. He seeks to stabilize his condition, and then go after them.
* [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld Really 110,000 Years Old]]
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Has been translated at least three different ways since the series began. Archanfel, Arcanfel, Alkanphel, and so on.
* SuperPrototype: Archanfel is the first and only true zoalord. He was engineered specifically to be a zoalord. All of the other zoalords are just humans processed to mimic his biology and implanted with zoacrystals grown from samples harvested from his zoacrystal. It's even been stated that even if all 12 of the other zoalords combined their power, they still stand no chance against Archanfel. [[spoiler: Not quite true. He jobs to Guyot in his first appearance.]]
* TheManBehindTheMonsters:
* TimeAbyss: He's been around for 110,000 years, longer than recorded history.

!!Doctor Hamilcar Barcas
->Voiced by: Saburo Kamei (Japanese), Klaus Vaux (English)
* ArchEnemy: He and Agito have a special hatred for one another.
* EvilGenius: Invented many of the unique Zoanoid types in the setting, including Enzyme II.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Was devastated by Li and Waferdanos's sacrifices.
* HeroKiller: As the guy who made Enzyme II, he's indirectly responsible for one of Sho's worst defeats. Sho lived this time though.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Everything Agito put him through by killing his friends? That's exactly what Barcas did to Sho.
* PetTheDog: Despite his MoralEventHorizon, there's something really shocking and sad about how badly he wanted Li Yentsui and Waferdanos to survive.
** ''Barcus: *while getting pushed through a portal by Waferdanos to safety: You two follow me!''
* [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld Really About 500 Years Old]]
* YouKilledMyFather: Sho has yet to confront him, but Barcas turned Sho's father into Enzyme II, making that death Barcas's fault indirectly.

!!Sin Rubeo Amniculus
->Voiced by: Dai Matsumoto (Japanese), Creator/JohnGremillion (English)
* [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld Really About 400 Years Old]]
* DeflectorShields: While pretty much all Zoalords are capable of this, he stands out for being able to protect the entire Cloud Gate.
* TheDragon (Technically third in command of Kronos proper after Barcas, but Barcas can rarely be bothered to actually govern anything)
* DrinkingGame: Take a shot whenever he's surprised.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: At times with Purgstall.
* OnlySaneMan: At times and is pretty much this with [[spoiler: Purgstall dead.]]
* SecretKeeper: He and Purgstall are the only ones, aside from Barcus and Imakarum who know that Archanfel is dying.
* SpamAttack [[spoiler: His Zoalord form shot a good dozen beam attacks in unison, from over a kilometer away, it counts]]
* TeamDad: To the Zoalords at times.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: He isn't a fan when civilians get harmed but believes in Chronos.

!!Waferdanos
->Voiced by: (Japanese), Lowell Bartholomee (English)
* AndIMustScream (He was ''rooted in place on a tiny isolated island with no one to talk to but his own semi-intelligent extensions for 'A HUNDRED THOUSAND YEARS'''. It's no wonder he's fanatically loyal to Dr. Barcas.)
* DarkIsNotEvil: Extremely loyal to Barcus and explaining if not for him he would never learn self-respect or more about the world.
* HeroicSacrifice: An antagonistic version to help stop an arguably worse person, Agito.
* [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld Really 110,000 Years Old]]
* {{Terraform}}: a prototype intelligent terraforming engine.

!!Friedrich von Purgstall
->Voiced by: Creator/HiroshiTsuchida (Japanese), (English)
* ElementalPowers: Lightning.
* [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld Really About 250 Years Old]]
* SecretKeeper: He and Shin are the only Zoalords, aside from Imakarum and Barcus of Archanfel's sickness.
* ShockAndAwe
* SpellMyNameWithAnS (Fried'rich von Purg'stall, or even ''Purukshuterl'')
* UnskilledButStrong: Unlike Imakarum he wasn't a fighting Zoalord but he does have a lot of raw power and when his heart into it he gives Sho a good fight.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Disliked civilians getting hurt even more than Shin.

!!Richard Guyot
->Voiced by: Creator/KinryuArimoto (Japanese), Bill Wise (English)
* ArchEnemy: More to Agito and Murakami than Sho.
* BigBadEnsemble: One of the other major antagonists alongside Archanfel and more recently Apollon.
* {{BFG}}: Had the Unit Remover last.
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: Creating a quasi-black hole that's powerful enough to [[spoiler: defeat Archanfel]]. It's forbidden because...look, meddling with black holes is just not safe - that, and using it almost completely wipes him out.
* TheDeterminator: As shown in his battle with [[spoiler: Archanfel]], Guyot's response to an impossible situation is to go all in.
* ElementalPowers: Gravity.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: In an interview, Takaya gives a PetTheDog moment when he declares that Guyot has never known love thus it's why he's so cold and cruel.
* EyesDoNotBelongThere: His Zoalord form has way too many eyes on the sides of his head and his torso, among other places.
* ImplacableMan (What does it TAKE?!)
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Capable of destroying the world with his gravity powers.
* ShoutOut:[[spoiler: His bandaged face in book 16 looks a lot like Darkman.]]
* TheStarscream

!!Cablarl Khan
->Voiced by: Winston Parish (English)
* EvilMentor: Seemed to have been Hiyern's and Krummenic's teacher.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Is finally killed by Aptom, using Hayami's freeze attack, but only after Sho destroys his giant form with the Exceed's new power.
* OneWingedAngel:Devours thousands of lesser zoanoids to take on a monstrous dragon form.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Cabraal/Kablar/Kabral
* WaveMotionGun: In his final Dragon form his entire neck becomes a big mouth for housing a giant beam.

!!Luggnagg de Clumegnig
->Voiced by: Tomohisa Asou (Japanese)
* SpellMyNameWithAnS (Kurumegnik, Klumeggnik... some research into Literature/GulliversTravels may clear that up)

!!Edward Caerleon
* [[spoiler: SacrificialLion. Sadly his super cool power is cut short to show how deadly Apollyon is.]]
* [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld Probably closer to 200 at most]]
* [[spoiler: WeHardlyKnewYe: He's not dead yet, maybe, but he didn't get much chance to shine before losing his crystal.]]

!!Li Yentsui
* BatmanGambit: His last two plans failed, leaving a door open in front of him, and then trying to cut off Agito's escape.
* TheStarscream: Averted, for a moment he seems rebellious during a meeting only to fight and die for protecting a relic.
* WeakButSkilled: His power isn't that destructive and may have limits but he used it very effectively.
