Having other people continually assume that they know what's best for him while refusing to acknowledge that he has his own deeply held convictions wears on him over time, until it comes to a head in ''Human Comedy''.
146	* MinionWithAnFInEvil: In ''Frozen Ice'', he admits to himself that while he feels obligated to think of certain people (like Anzu and Trickstar) as his enemies for the sake of Shu and Valkyrie, he's forcing it and usually just winds up feeling bad for lashing out.

This arc culminated at Shu’s graduation, which meant an unavoidable physical separation, forcing Mika to confront his own dependency and lack of personal goals. By the end of ''Human Comedy'', though his commitment to Shu doesn’t waver, he resolves to find and chase his own dreams as a fellow artist rather than a doll or assistant.

The difference is that Shu realized how much Mika had become unhealthily devoted to him and wanted to make him grow out of it (since Shu will graduate and leave him), while Anzu was forced to transfer and Suzu became a chuunibyou as a way to cope with her absence. Also, Suzu eventually formed bonds with other people while Mika only cared about Shu. In resume, Mika is what would have happened to Suzu if Anzu had stayed at her side.

In ''Teddy Bear'', he admits it's because he's afraid of Shu changing and becoming unrecognizable to him, and worries that Shu has only started being kind because he plans to abandon him.

It mainly manifests self-destructively, as he claims he's willing to throw his life away in a heartbeat if it would benefit Shu. It's most apparent in ''Pretty Mission''; when confronted with the possibility of Shu getting married, he quietly admits ‘there could be fatalities’. When asked whether that means he’d kill himself or kill the person Shu’s marrying, Mika can only say he won’t know until the time comes - though he later claims to another character that he'd sooner disappear completely than get in the way of what Shu wants.
