In the first game, Valkyrie is the prestigious and passionate unit that sticks to artistic directing! Even though their weak point is communication, when the curtain opens they'll be brilliant performers.

In the second game, Valkyrie is a prestigious unit of fine arts affiliated with Cosmic Productions. Led by Shu Itsuki, they're a group with their own, distinct perspective on the world and retain a highly individual, inflexible distance when interacting with their fans. Their media work primarily focuses on capitalizing on their artistic attributes, such as participating in talk shows as guests, acting as narrators for fine arts programs, and appearing in movies and plays.

[[folder:In General]]
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Shu performs 'maintenance' on his 'dolls' routinely - this is implied to refer to things like physical checkups that involve a lot of body contact, but between the way it's treated as something private and Mika's sheer delight at receiving it, it comes across as very suggestive. Notably, after the events of ''Human Comedy'' Shu has stopped seeing or treating Mika as a doll... but he keeps performing maintenance on him anyway.
* EccentricArtist: In ''Ensemble Stars!!'', both of them consider themselves artists first and foremost, whose chosen medium just happens to be idol lives. That alone is fairly eccentric, even before adding in Shu's doll obsession, Mika's love of mixing horror and cute aesthetics, and their own numerous neuroses and quirks that they both chalk up to as only being natural for artists.
* HowTheMightyHaveFallen: In their first year of activity, they were the top unit at Yumenosaki, and suffered the most severe downfall as a result of Eichi's 'War' against the Five Eccentrics.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: A mutual example. Mika is very vocal about feeling that life isn't worth living if he can't be with Shu, and Shu also considers himself as having been 'saved' by Mika staying with him throughout Valkyrie's darkest period, with both of them seeing the other as their only possible partner. While they're living apart as of ''Ensemble Stars!!'' and trying to lessen their dependence on one another, they both get very anxious about the separation, and other characters have worried that if one were to disappear, the other wouldn't last long.
* YouAreWorthHell: No matter how much suffering he has to endure or how low he might wind up sinking, Mika is adamantly willing to Shu ''anywhere'', even in his own words, "into the pits of hell". In ''Human Comedy'', Shu returns the sentiment by inviting Mika to accompany him there as his partner in art.

The leader of the Unit "Valkyrie" that Nazuna was a member of until his third year. One of the original five oddballs. He and Mika have continued with their activities since Nazuna left, albeit less frequently. As the captain of the handicraft club, he has dexterous and skillful fingers, and made the uniforms of their unit by himself.

He is an arrogant person who wants everything to go his way. Despite this, he does not like places with many people and is not very good at facing the crowds at lives.
----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: While Shu genuinely adored Nazuna, he expressed that by gushing primarily over Nazuna's looks to Nazuna's discomfort, pushing his own preferences and tastes onto Nazuna, and consistency talking over his annoyance and protests. It took ex-Valkyrie falling apart and Nazuna leaving before Shu realized the error of his ways and backed off.
* AffectionateNickname: As children, Kuro used to call him 'Icchan'. He still slips into the habit at times.
* AmbiguouslyGay: While the game continually shies away from being explicit about it, his initial fixation on Nazuna reads as a very serious crush, with his constantly praising Nazuna's beauty and declaring him his 'soulmate'. His later partnership with Mika in ''Ensemble Stars!!'' has similar overtones, with other characters commenting on how their relationship resembles a romantic comedy. Notably, he's also one of the few who express no interest in girls whatsoever and deliberately performs very little fanservice for his in-universe fans and the female player character.
* TheAtoner: After ex-Valkyrie fell apart, Shu realized the way he treated his fellow members was wrong. After getting back on his feet became determined to make amends for it by learning how to care for people in "the way of humans", including apologizing to Nazuna for his behavior and making up with him properly. He remains conscious of this into ''Ensemble Stars!!'', where he strives to avoid repeating his past mistakes in his new dynamic with Mika.
* BreakTheCutie: He was bullied when he was younger for playing with dolls and dressing in girl's clothes instead of playing rough like normal boys. While he had Kuro to support him for a while, the two of them grew apart when the went to different middle schools, at which point Kuro's mother, the one other person who supported Shu's interests, passed away. The combination of these events led to young Shu becoming a ControlFreak {{Jerkass}} obsessed with dolls and unchanging, eternal perfection.
* BreakTheHaughty: His defeat at Eichi's hands left him broken. The writer for the ''Marionette'' event storyline has stated on their twitter that Shu only started talking through Mademoiselle after Valkyrie's loss. It affected Shu so badly that ''he developed a split personality from it'' and it manifested through the doll. And here's what he has to say about Mika's attempts at keeping Valkyrie altogether:
--> '''Shu''': … Sheesh. Ridiculous, is it not, young girl? That one is still convinced I am the strongest and perfect top idol. He still believes that I, who can no longer even dance as well as I want, am the Sovereign of Yumenosaki Academy.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Kuro - they lived in the same neighborhood and were in the same class and school from kindergarten to elementary. They both learned how to sew and embroider from Kuro's mother, who Shu also felt very close to, and Kuro protected Shu from bullies who made fun of his feminine hobbies and interests.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: As expected of someone labeled one of the Five Eccentrics, Shu's thought process are often remarked upon as being very difficult to understand by those around him. He gets very single-minded about his obsessions, including dolls and croissants, and takes them both to ridiculous extremes.
* CompanionCube: Mademoiselle is a doll handed down from his grandfather that he's treasured since childhood. Once Eichi defeated him, that attachment was exacerbated to the point where she began talking, at which point he started treating her like a separate and fully sentient individual. He's able to say what he truly feels only through her.
** It's hinted in ''Milky Way'' that Mademoiselle's personality is based on Kuro's mother. No wonder Kuro is understandably creeped out by it.
* ConsultingMisterPuppet: Shu goes almost everywhere with a porcelain doll he calls Mademoiselle. He treats her as a separate individual from himself, and often converses with her to work through his own feelings, or allows her to talk to others on his behalf when he’s overwhelmed or shy.
* ControlFreak: Very much so. He was convinced that loving and protecting someone meant helping them achieve perfection at any cost, so throughout the past-Valkyrie era he showed his care for Nazuna and Mika by micromanaging their entire lives, including what they ate and how they dressed. Even after growing out of that mindset, he's still described as having 'the heart of a puppeteer', and feels most comfortable when he's in control of a given situation.
* CutenessProximity: His common sense and restraint tends to go out the window when he’s around anything he considers adorable, most particularly dolls and smaller boys like Nazuna and the members of Ra✽bits.
* FatalFlaw: His obsession with perfection rendered him incapable of adapting to the changes in Yumenosaki when Eichi became student council president, leading to ex-Valkyrie’s downfall as it stagnated and was ultimately defeated by fine.
* ForgottenFirstMeeting: According to Mika in ''Magical Halloween'', he and Shu first met in a garbage dump when they were both very young children. It was significant enough to Mika that years later, he still recognized Shu on sight and uprooted his own life to attend the same high school as him - while Shu has absolutely no recollection of the event at all.
* GratuitousFrench: He'll pepper some French in his speech.
* HeyYou: He refers to Natsume as “boy”, and calls Anzu "girl" (小娘 ''komusume'') instead of her name (unless he's using Mademoiselle). The ''Crossroad'' bonus chapter reveals he addresses all girls this way.
* HiddenDepths: He surprised Nastume in ''Machina'' by having thoughtful and detailed knowledge of both digital art and cryptocurrency, despite having previously had very little interest in technology and struggled to even use cell phones in the past.
* ItsPersonal: He wanted to defeat Eichi himself due to how Eichi targeted him and his friends for the sake of his "War". It took him so long to recover from his own ‘execution’, though, that Trickstar and Anzu beat him to it, leaving him hostile towards their group for some time.
* {{Jerkass}}: Throughout the ex-Valkyrie era, he was defined by his arrogance, short temper, and controlling tendencies, insulting and looking down on almost everyone around him.
* [[LonelyDollGirl Lonely Doll Guy]]: Growing up, Kuro was his only human friend, and they wound up growing apart when they went to different middle schools. Instead, he found comfort in the company of dolls, and Mademoiselle in particular, whom he is almost never seen apart from.
* LoveAtFirstSight: He was smitten by Nazuna's beauty the first time he saw him, leading him to recruit Nazuna and form the original Valkyrie with him. Unfortunately, his love quickly became an unhealthy obsession that eventually contributed to their bitter split.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: In ''Magical Halloween'', he finally realized with horror just how severely his mistreatment had harmed Mika, marking a turning point after which Shu started treating Mika more kindly and taking his feelings and their relationship more seriously.
* {{Narcissist}}: Shu displays several narcissistic traits. He's quite grandiose, proud of Valkyrie's ability to show off onstage, and has a [[ThePerfectionist very exacting]] vision of how he wants the unit to operate. He has a single-minded devotion to this vision, to the point where he treats Mika as little more than an extension of his will and saw him and Nazuna both as "dolls", chosen for their looks and expected to follow his every instruction perfectly. And heaven help you if you can't keep up -- he'll chew you out in the middle of practice if you're a ''fraction of a second'' off his predetermined timing, [[LackOfEmpathy without compassion]]. His abrasive attitude ended up costing Valkyrie big during the War. His unit's embarrassing defeat onstage sent him into full-blown [[https://www.psychologytoday.com/intl/blog/understanding-narcissism/202202/what-is-narcissistic-collapse narcissistic collapse]], his immense ego so [[BreakTheHaughty broken]] that he could barely leave his own room for a time. The backbone of his CharacterDevelopment happens when he comes to terms with this, and becomes determined to respect the people around him and treat those he cares for as equals.
* NonUniformUniform: He wears a ClassyCravat with his uniform instead of the standard necktie.
* ObliviousToLove: Shu struggles to understand just why Mika's so devoted to him despite Valkyrie's fall. At first he assumes Mika's too stupid to realize that he's wasting his life by staying with him, or that he's acting on pure blind faith as a fan. It's not until the Halloween event, where Mika admits they'd met before as children and vows to follow him into hell if necessary, that he finally grasps how strong Mika's feelings for him actually are.
* ParentalSubstitute: Played with in regards to Mika. Shu's extremely controlling yet protective treatment of Mika was often called out as being similar to an overly strict parent by other characters in their early stories. Part of Shu's CharacterDevelopment included realizing that behavior was actually holding Mika back, as well as appreciating how much Mika had protected and cared for him in turn. Ultimately, he decided to stop seeing Mika as a helpless child and start building a relationship of equals with him, and rejects the idea that he's a parental figure for Mika outright in ''Shinsekai''.
* PetTheDog: Even prior to his character development, Shu still had his softer moments.
** During the ex-Valkyrie era when Shu was at his harshest, Shu still did a lot to care for Mika. He invited Mika to live at his house to avoid a brutal commute, cooked all his meals for him to improve his health, despite not enjoying food himself, and secretly helped him finish the birthday present Mika was trying to make for Nazuna.
** Despite his resentful and condescending attitude towards Anzu, Mademoiselle always treated her with kindness and looked forward to chatting with her, betraying his true inner thoughts.
** While he initially couldn't accept Wataru's decision to join fine and was in a condition where he was struggling to leave his room or be around people, he still went to see Wataru perform during Flower Fes to make sure he was alright.
** Although he was badly hurt by Nazuna leaving Valkyrie, once the shock wore off he started avoiding Nazuna as much as possible so he couldn't say or do anything that might hurt him.
* ProneToTears: When he was young he was a fragile crybaby and was often protected by Kuro.
* TheResenter: To an extent, he holds a grudge against everyone who allied with Eichi during the War, but the bulk of his ire is reserved for Eichi himself. Shu absolutely refuses to forgive him, even years later, and part of why he signed Valkyrie on with CosPro was to ensure he could avoid working for or with Eichi as much as possible.
* SuperWindowJump: The first time he saw Nazuna, he was so struck by his beauty that he jumped out of a window to talk to him.
* TookALevelInKindness: After graduating from Yumenosaki, Shu mellowed out significantly and became far more considerate and thoughtful towards the people around him. This is partly attributed to the change in environment, as he no longer has to interact with the people who hurt him on a daily basis and pursue his passion freely, and also to his own efforts to learn from his past mistakes and be a better partner and friend.
* {{Tsundere}}: He often acts annoyed, stern, and even cold towards the people around him, but most of those closest to him recognize it’s a front to cover up his own shyness. It becomes especially blatant when Mademoiselle outright admits his softer or more embarrassing feelings to whoever he’s trying to act aloof towards, usually over his protests.
** To use the player character, Anzu, as an example, at the beginning of the series he wanted nothing to do with her and didn’t understand what the hell everyone else sees in her. After seeing her efficiency as a producer, he started respecting her… but could only admit it by claiming Mademoiselle was the one who thought so.
--->''...Thank you. Ahem. That was a remark from Mademoiselle. Not from myself. “She’s resting right now”, you say? You also heard it in my voice... You’re annoying, girl!''
** In Madara's FS 4* story, he expresses the same sentiment toward Madara. When Madara visits Shu's atelier in Paris, Shu is initially hostile toward him, accusing him of being a barbarian and stating that he does not want to spend time with him. Despite this, the two end up going to a flea market together and Shu wound up expressing concern for him:
--->'''Madara:''' Sorry for how long it took. I really hit it off with the shopkeeper. Before I knew it, we’d already talked for so long!''
--->'''Shu:''' It’s alright. It’s good that your negotiations went well. It is of no concern to me what happens to you, however. But it would be a shame to watch an acquaintance get blatantly ripped off.
--->'''Madara:''' Ah, so you were worrying about me. Thank you Shu-san, you’re a nice soul…♪
--->''Shu:''' Don’t misunderstand. I simply do not want to feel unpleasant.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Croissants. He considers it the perfect food, and is obsessed enough with them that he keeps a miniature oven in the handicraft club room so he can make them for himself whenever he wants.
* WhatBeautifulEyes: According to a character in the light novel story, Shu's eyes stand out as extremely striking and beautiful.
* TheWorfEffect: Valkyrie's downfall was deliberately constructed by Eichi to demonstrate fine's power and the benefits of the competitive live system he put in place, as up until then they were the top unit at Yumenosaki. It then takes Shu nearly a year to perform again at full strength, and as a result a lot of students forget or doubt how good he ever actually was.

--> '''Voiced by''': Jun Oosuka (Japanese), Creator/CliffordChapin (English)
--> '''Portrayed by''': Hiroki Ino (stage play)

Being all alone as a first-year, he admires Shu because he called out to him. He is currently getting along with him in the handicraft club. He harbors complicated feelings towards Nazuna, who left their unit. He has an honest and gullible personality, but can easily become lonely and broody.

He likes cute and scary things, but has very few friends because he has difficulties finding people who share his interests. He has a complex about his girlish name and mismatched eyes.
----
* AbandonmentInducedAnimosity: Nazuna leaving Valkyrie when they were at their lowest and citing Shu’s uselessness as his reason for doing so was a serious blow to Mika’s trust and love for him. While he eventually came to understand Nazuna’s reasons, he ''still'' can’t fully forgive him and often winds up acting aloof or hostile towards him on reflex.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: During their time as ex-Valkyrie, Shu was constantly praising Nazuna as perfect and flawless, and just as often disparaged Mika for failing to meet the same standard. This left Mika with a serious inferiority complex towards Nazuna that lingered long after Shu stopped the comparisons, well into ''Ensemble Stars!!''.
* AmbiguouslyBi: Between praising Shu's beauty at every opportunity, openly longing for his touch, getting jealous over the possibility of Shu marrying someone else, and admitting he wants to call Shu 'darling', it's very difficult to read his feelings for Shu as not having any romantic component at all. As he prefers the company of girls in general, though, the ambiguity around his orientation stems more from whether or not it's meant as a case of SingleTargetSexuality or IfItsYouItsOkay, rather than bisexuality.
* AnimalMotifs: He’s strongly associated with crows. On top of his hair being the same messy, iridescent black as their feathers and being drawn to garbage dumps, Shu also directly refers to him as one at several points, and he proudly claims to already have 'pitch-black wings' when Tsumugi worries about him getting 'dirty'.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: As a child, Mika once tried to run away from his orphanage in a fit of despair, only for a lost Shu to find him in the garbage, clean him up, and give him a pretty dress to wear. This act of kindness was so meaningful to Mika, he never forgot it, and it's the reason behind his unwavering devotion to Shu.
* ConnectedAllAlong: Turns out [[spoiler:he was Suzu Kuromori's brother all along]]. No wonder he resembles her so much.
* CrazyJealousGuy: He can get ''very'' jealous over Shu. On top of his inferiority complex towards Nazuna, he also envies Shu's close friendships with Kuro and the other Eccentrics throughout ''Ensemble Stars!'', and is hurt by the fact that he feels like he'll never be Shu's 'number one' despite how hard he works to support him. Despite eventually becoming Shu's 'one and only partner' in ''Ensemble Stars!!'', this trait still flares up, such as when he accuses Shu of preferring Kohaku over him because he's more Shu's type in ''Antique Legends''.
** While less frequent, he also gets jealous over Arashi, especially when he thinks she's gotten close with Nazuna.
* DidYouThinkICantFeel: Mika ordinarily tries to keep a cheerful face up and push his own negative feelings down, but when Shu threw away some of his treasured belongings in ''Neverland'' that he mistook as trash, Mika blows up at him for the very first time and demands that he stop always deciding what's best for him without asking or talking to him first.
--->''Ya're always forcin' me to change, but you yourself never change! You think you're some almighty god? When do ya plan to stop bein' ma puppetteer!? [...] Please think about how I'd feel!''
* DoesNotLikeMen: Downplayed, but the orphanage he was raised in had a lot more girls than boys, and it’s mentioned he was picked on in the past for his eyes and feminine name, so he isn’t very comfortable around them. This especially applies to those who are particularly tall or loud like Madara, who he can struggle to even talk to.
* {{Expy}}: He is noted to be similar to Suzu Kuromori from ''Ensemble Girls'', who was Anzu's best friend before she transferred to Yumenosaki academy. Both are {{Shrinking Violet}}s, have mismatched eyes, and revere a close friend (Shu for Mika, Anzu for Suzu). This is probably the reason why Anzu often tries to reach out to Mika despite his attempts to brush her off.
** Anzu also befriends him the same way, constantly trying to reach him until she earns his trust.
** The graduation episode of ''Ensemble Girls'' reveals that [[spoiler:Suzu and Mika are in fact, siblings. They were separated at birth and just found out after Suzu's graduation.]]
* FeelNoPain: He has high pain tolerance and low awareness about his own condition, failing to even notice when he pricks his finger with a needle. As this also extends to other unpleasant sensations like hunger and exhaustion, it’s meant to underline how out of touch Mika is with his own feelings and needs.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Mika meets Suzu in ''Milky Way'', and tells Shu ''"Maybe she’s my sister separated from birth?"''. The graduation episode of ''Ensemble Girls'' reveals that [[spoiler:Suzu and Mika were siblings all along]].
* FriendToAllChildren: Mika grew up in an orphanage where he helped take care of the younger children and was seen as a communal big brother by them all, and continues to take on the role instinctively whenever he’s around young kids. As a result, he’s very popular with children, especially those from his hometown, and when struggling to come up with his own dream for the future, they help him realize that he wants to be an artist that can comfort and inspire lost children everywhere.
* GenderBlenderName: His name Mika is written in hiragana which is commonly for girls. He's not the only one in the cast with a feminine-sounding name, [[EmbarrassingFirstName but he's notable for having a small complex over it]] as he was been picked on in the past because of it. Most likely, he's embarrassed because the syllables that make his name are synonymous with very common kanji used in girls' names (such as "beauty" and "fragrance/flower" respectively), making it even more feminine.
* HeightAngst: Though he's an average height, he's insecure about it because he thinks Shu prefers shorter builds. He implies that part of why he doesn't eat very much is because he's hoping to not grow any taller.
* HiddenDepths: Beneath his cheerful and optimistic disposition, Mika has a very serious cynical streak. Deep down, he thinks very little of the world and humanity, and considers both fundamentally tarnished. That's why Shu's art appealed to him so strongly; his stages were the kind of perfect, beautiful world Mika wished he could be a part of.
* ItsPersonal: Like Shu, he also wanted to personally defeat Eichi as Valkyrie, and is similarly hostile to Anzu at first when she and Trickstar beat them to the punch.
* KiddieKid: Despite being a high school student, he still has a lot of childish behavior, including his fondness for stuffed animals and mixing onomatopoeia used by children in his speech. Shu occasionally acting like Mika’s guardian adds to this impression.
* KindheartedSimpleton: Ultimately a deconstruction. He really is very kind and easily fooled - which leads to the characters around him, including Shu himself, assuming that he only puts up with Shu's treatment because he's too sweet and simple to know any better. Having other people continually assume that they know what's best for him while refusing to acknowledge that he has his own deeply held convictions wears on him over time, until it comes to a head in ''Human Comedy''.
* MinionWithAnFInEvil: In ''Frozen Ice'', he admits to himself that while he feels obligated to think of certain people (like Anzu and Trickstar) as his enemies for the sake of Shu and Valkyrie, he's forcing it and usually just winds up feeling bad for lashing out.
* NightmareFetishist: Mika has always liked scary things just as much as cute things, but it became all the more apparent in ''Ensemble Stars!!'' where he begins developing his own creativity and artistic sense more strongly, and winds up drawn to far more spooky and unsettling aesthetics than Shu. According to Leo, some of his work is outright grotesque.
* ParentalAbandonment: He was abandoned by his birth parents when he was very young. As a result, he constantly fears abandonment by those he cares about, and can’t bear to throw anything away himself.
* PlatonicLifePartners: He's best friends with Arashi Narukami, and relied on her heavily for support during the period when Shu was treating him badly. He loves her dearly and is determined to pay her back for everything she's done for him, and wishes that the two of them can be friends forever.
* SatelliteCharacter: The entire reason Mika came to Yumenosaki in the first place was to be around Shu, and his only goal as an idol was to be part of Shu’s art as his doll. This was gradually [[DeconstructedTrope deconstructed]] over the course of ''Ensemble Stars!'', showing how unsustainable that kind of relationship was and the emotional toll it was taking on Mika to have his entire sense of self-worth wrapped up in another person. This arc culminated at Shu’s graduation, which meant an unavoidable physical separation, forcing Mika to confront his own dependency and lack of personal goals. By the end of ''Human Comedy'', though his commitment to Shu doesn’t waver, he resolves to find and chase his own dreams as a fellow artist rather than a doll or assistant.
* ShadowArchetype: For [[spoiler:his sister]] Suzu. Just like her, Mika was ostracized for his eyes and became obsessively devoted to a person who was nice to him. The difference is that Shu realized how much Mika had become unhealthily devoted to him and wanted to make him grow out of it (since Shu will graduate and leave him), while Anzu was forced to transfer and Suzu became a chuunibyou as a way to cope with her absence. Also, Suzu eventually formed bonds with other people while Mika only cared about Shu. In resume, Mika is what would have happened to Suzu if Anzu had stayed at her side.
* SharedFamilyQuirks: [[spoiler: The final chapter of ''Ensemble Girls'' implies that Suzu and Mika are long lost twins. Aside their eyes (whom they're ashamed of), both like Victorian clothing, are awkwardly shy with strangers and seem to have an unhealthy devotion to their best friend ( Anzu for Suzu, Shu for Mika), to almost LivingEmotionalCrutch levels.]]
* ShrinkingViolet: Partially due to [[DoesNotLikeMen being scared of men]] in an all-guys school, but he mentions a few times that strangers and large groups of people in general make him nervous.
* SweetTooth: He carries candies with him almost everywhere, and would happily snack on them throughout the day without Shu's interference.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood : Cheap candies, as he has said that he's not good with nicely-made sweets. A doodle of candy is even treated as part of his signiture.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Shu. Even when Shu mentions that Mika could just pick up a new identity and join a new unit, [[HowTheMightyHaveFallen and not just live in the remains of what Valkyrie has become]], Mika says he's fine with sinking even deeper as long as he's with Shu, and that he'll stay in Valkyrie till the end of time.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: With Nazuna. Since Nazuna left Valkyrie at its lowest point to join Ra✽bits, Mika lost a lot of the trust and respect he once had for him. They were able to mend things to a point by ''Human Comedy'', but while he can't fully hate Nazuna, Mika still can't fully forgive him for leaving the way he did either and is still keeping a distance from him in ''Ensemble Stars!!''.
* WeWantOurJerkBack: Once Shu started making an effort to be kinder to Mika, Mika at first found it creepy and kept telling Shu not to bother and to continue be cruel to him like usual. In ''Teddy Bear'', he admits it's because he's afraid of Shu changing and becoming unrecognizable to him, and worries that Shu has only started being kind because he plans to abandon him.
* {{Yandere}}: Downplayed, as he's never been violent towards anyone, but there’s always been an unsettling edge to Mika’s devotion towards Shu. It mainly manifests self-destructively, as he claims he's willing to throw his life away in a heartbeat if it would benefit Shu. It's most apparent in ''Pretty Mission''; when confronted with the possibility of Shu getting married, he quietly admits ‘there could be fatalities’. When asked whether that means he’d kill himself or kill the person Shu’s marrying, Mika can only say he won’t know until the time comes - though he later claims to another character that he'd sooner disappear completely than get in the way of what Shu wants.
* YouRemindMeOfX: When Anzu first meets him, she notes his uncanny resemblance to Suzu, her best friend at her old school, to the point where she's very nice and supportive of him and tries to befriend him even though he isn't nice to her at first ([[MyMasterRightOrWrong because Shu ordered him to]]).
