* YouAreWorthHell: No matter how much suffering he has to endure or how low he might wind up sinking, Mika is adamantly willing to Shu ''anywhere'', even into the pits of hell. In ''Human Comedy'', Shu returns the sentiment by asking Mika to accompany him there.

* QuirkyHousehold: As their CharacterDevelopment goes on, their relationship becomes closer to this. They still retain a puppeteer-doll relationship, but only as a reminder of their close bond and dedication to the unit. It is even stated in ''Teddy Bear'' that their relationship resembles a close-knit family after the events of Halloween.

* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Shu performs 'maintenance' on his "dolls", implied to be activities like physical checkups that involve a lot of body contact. After the events of ''Human Comedy'' he is not supposed to perform this on Mika since Mika has become "human", but they still do regularly. In ''Ensemble Stars!!'', Mika often expresses how he misses Shu's touch and even admits 'maintenance' is a "form of speech".
* EccentricArtist: In ''EnsembleStars!!'', both of them consider themselves artists first and foremost, whose chosen medium happens to be idol lives. That alone is fairly eccentric, even before adding in Shu's doll obsession, Mika's love of mixing horror and cute aesthetics, and their own numerous neuroses and quirks that they both chalk up to as only being natural for artists.

* HowTheMightyHaveFallen: Suffers the most out of this after Eichi/fine's reign, being ''the'' top unit before them.

* PlatonicLifePartners: He is best friends with Arashi Narukami, and relied on her heavily for support during the period when Shu was treating him badly. He loves her dearly and is determined to pay her back for everything she's done for him, and wishes that the two of them can be friends forever.

* SatelliteCharacter: Eventually [[SubvertedTrope subverted]] and [[DeconstructedTrope deconstructed]]. Most of his motivations revolve around Shu, and many of his dialogues are about Shu's prowess as an artist and his determination to follow him "to the bottom of hell". At first glance, one might think that he wants to stay as an idol only for Shu's sake. But as the story progresses, the unhealthy side of his devotion comes into play, and Mika faces the reality that he is literally dying inside because of his compulsion to be useful to Shu. Fortunately, his CharacterDevelopment leads him to embrace his individuality and become a more independent person, as well as reestablishing his relationship with Shu as a more equal one. In stories like ''Shooting Star Festival'' and ''Magical Halloween'', Mika starts to develop his own goals and tastes such as his interest in festivals and his newfound wish to become an idol who can appeal to children. He also sheds his shyness and forced animosity towards certain individuals, and interacts with his classmates and underclassmen on good terms. The change in his 5-star line also reflects this; the previous line indicated how much he is devoted to Shu as his "doll", while the changed line shows how much he takes pride in his unit and himself as an idol.

* AbandonmentInducedAnimosity: Nazuna leaving their group when they were at their lowest and citing Shu's uselessness as his reason for doing so was a serious blow to Mika's trust and love for him. While he eventually came to understand Nazuna's reasons, he ''still'' can't fully forgive him and often winds up acting aloof or hostile towards him on reflex.

* WeUsedToBeFriends: With [[spoiler:Nazuna. Since Nazuna left Valkyrie for his own happiness and left Mika with a broken Shu after their defeat, this left him and Nazuna on bitter terms. Mika is hurt by this but still regards Nazuna fondly, still calling him "Nazuna-nii" like he used to when Nazuna was still in Valkyrie. The bitterness is eventually gone and their old friendship is rekindled as revealed in the ''Marionette's Memories'' event epilogue, and they get proper closure in the ''Starlight'' event.]]
* WeWantOurJerkBack: After the 2017 Halloween event, Mika becomes concerned over how much nicer Shu has been to him. He talks about how the Shu he knew is practically unrecognizable now, and how he's not scolding him as often anymore.
* {{Yandere}}: Downplayed, as he's never been violent or dangerous about it, but there's always been an unsettling edge to Mika's devotion towards Shu. In ''Milky Way'', he claims he'd throw his life away in a heartbeat if it would help push Shu forward 'even a millimeter', and in ''Pretty Mission'' when Arashi asks how Mika might feel about Shu getting married, and he quietly admits 'there could be fatalities'. When Arashi, alarmed, asks whether that means he'd kill himself or kill the person Shu's marrying, Mika can only say he won't know until the time comes - though he later claims to another character that he'd sooner disappear completely than get in the way of what Shu wants.

* TheUnfavourite: Used to be one during the past-Valkyrie era, with Shu ignoring and belittling him in favour of the cuter doormat Nazuna.

* KindheartedSimpleton: Ultimately a deconstruction. Anyone can easily see that he's gullible and kind, but that makes him very hard to handle when he's upset like in ''Star Festival'', where even Arashi has a hard time calming him down. Nazuna even points out it's his kind, simple nature that makes him unable to hold back his difficult negative feelings.

* DoesNotLikeMen: Downplayed, but the orphanage he was raised in had a lot more girls than boys, and it's mentioned he was picked on in the past for his eyes and feminine name, so he isn't very comfortable around boys. This especially applies to particularly tall or loud boys like Madara, who he can struggle to even talk to.

* HeightAngst: He is insecure about his height because he thinks Shu prefers shorter builds. He even asks if would it be better if he does not grow.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Arashi Narukami.
* ItsPersonal: He, similar to Shu, wanted to personally defeat Eichi himself, mostly out of loyalty to Shu. Hence, why he's similarly hostile to Anzu at first.

* MinionWithAnFInEvil: Part of ''Frozen Ice'' is in his perspective, where his thoughts and monologues admit that while he feels obligated to think of certain people (like Anzu and Trickstar) as his enemies for the sake of Shu and Valkyrie, he's forcing it and feels regretful.

* CutenessProximity: If he sees cute little boys. In the past-Valkyrie era he fawned over Nazuna and has acknowledged how cute the rest of Ra✽bits are. He also started gushing when he saw Mitsuru in shorts, to a truly ridiculous extent. Even [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness Mitsuru]] is annoyed to no end by it.

* CutenessProximity: Has a love for cute things, especially if they're CreepyCute. In ''Ensemble Stars!!'' he is part of the circle "Pretty 5" along with Arashi, Aira, Hiyori and Tori.

* GreenEyedMonster: He's secretly annoyed by how Shu appreciates Nazuna, the Oddballs and Kuro more than him, who stayed by Shu's side the whole time. His interactions with Kuro are rather passive-aggressive, as he's jealous of how close Kuro and Shu were. In fact, [[spoiler:before they got to properly talk to each other and hear each other's sides in the ''Starlight'' event, Mika notably urges Shu to talk to Nazuna, asks Shu if he wants to talk to Nazuna and also seems pleasant enough towards him, but when Shu's not around, the pleasantness is gone and he often says outright to Nazuna's face that Nazuna's kindness is most likely fake and keeps calling him a traitor]].
** He also gets jealous when he sees Arashi hanging around with Nazuna in the ''Cheval Live'' event.

* FriendToAllChildren: He's apparently a very popular idol with the children from his hometown, who saved their allowance and rode a train to Yumenosaki Academy (without any adult chaperones) just to see his performance during Halloween. Mika has them call their parents so that they don't worry.
* GenderBlenderName: His name Mika is written in hiragana which is commonly for girls. He's not the only one in the cast with a feminine-sounding name, [[EmbarrassingFirstName but he's notable for having a small complex over it]]. Most likely, he's embarrassed because the syllables that make his name are synonymous with very common kanji used in girls' names (such as "beauty" and "fragrance/flower" respectively), making it even more feminine.

* DidYouThinkICantFeel: Shu's blatant favoritism and continuous mistreatment during the past-Valkyrie era resulted in Mika's inferiority complex. At a glance he seems to brush off such remarks as if it does not hurt at all, but it turns out that he is emotionally hurt deep down, and he starts to express how jealous he is of people around Shu, starting from ''Milky Way'' and ''Frozen Ice''. In ''Antique Legend'' he even expresses jealousy over Kohaku since he thinks Kohaku is Shu's type.
