* Wei Wuxian's quick thinking and cleverness is established in his teen years where he uses that to outsmart Lan Wangji. He even gets the idea of having Lan Wangji wrap his forehead ribbon onto his wrist as well so they could both look around the hidden cave without the traps going off and attacking Wei Suxian.
* Jin Zixuan and Lan Wangji standing up to the Wens in the Xuanwu Cave, and the fight that follows after. Had it not been for the Tortoise of Slaughter waking up from its slumber, all of the Wens would have been dead meat.
* Lan Wangji tells Wei Wuxian the name of the song: "[=WangXian=]".
* Even though the situation itself is already teeming with only bad things yet to come, Wei Wuxian holds himself together by refusing to give up Jiang Cheng's location and basically spits at Wen Chao showing how he isn't afraid of him. Even as Wang Lingjiao uses the branding iron to tear open Wei Wuxian's scar, he merely grits his teeth and doesn't let out a sound.
* While it isn't featured much, there's the rest of the Four Great Clans avenging the Jiang Clan by reclaiming Lotus Pier for them. The cherry on the cake is Lan Wangji cutting down one of the Wen flags and then stepping right on it, with cold and determined eyes.
* Lan Wangji arriving at the Nightless City to ambush some Wen soldiers and ask them about Wei Wuxian's whereabouts, all the while in a state of ice-cold TranquilFury. Think of Episode 14 of the donghua, but this time he's in complete control of his emotions and is the one with the upper hand -- both of which form a deadly combination from someone like Lan Wangji.
* Lan Wangji coldly tells the Wen soldiers to kneel. While it's not what you'd expect from him, keep in mind that moments earlier the Wen soldiers were mocking Wei Wuxian for being the son of a servant, and Lan Wangji likely overheard that and decided to give them a taste of their own medicine.
* Wei Wuxian having his bloody revenge on Wen Chao and Wang Lingjiao. Creepy and terrifying? Yes. Karmic and satisfying? Also yes.
* Although it was mainly a tense moment, there is Wei Wuxian telling Jin Guangshan and all the cultivators in attendance that Jiang Yanli has a right to decide whether she wants to marry Jin Zixuan or not. The topper is when Jiang Yanli adds to his statement by declaring that what she wants is to help her brothers rebuild Lotus Pier, and since they still are in mourning, now is not the best time to discuss matters of marriage.
* Wei Wuxian, while blindfolded, shoots not one but five targets at once with each arrow hitting the bullseye. It even impresses Nie Mingjue and Lan Xichen enough to be the first to clap in earnest. At this point he has already lost his golden core. If he had supernatural aid from resentful energy, he had mastered it within just a few months at most.
* Wei Wuxian terrifies a whole room of cultivators just by placing a hand on his flute as they all jump up with their swords barely drawn, looking back and forth between Wei Wuxian and Jin Zixun. He may have been a nobody in the past, but now he's one of the most powerful cultivators of his generation leading the other clans to become quickly aware that he is not one to be trifled with. The impetus for the scene is equally awesome, with Wei Wuxian giving a scathing condemnation to Jin Zixun (and by extension the entire Jin clan) for murdering and tormenting innocent refugees in a misplaced attempt at revenge.
* As Wei Wuxian resurrects Wen Ning and gets revenge on the Jin soldiers around there, not one drop of rain hits him as he plays. Then there's Wen Ning's roar being so powerful he literally stops the rain from falling.
* Mianmian basically giving all the cultivation clans the middle finger before leaving. There's even more weight in this adaptation since she's standing up directly to the Jin Clan.
* Lan Wangji standing against his uncle when the latter berates him for defending Wei Wuxian. At this point, Lan Wangji is still conflicted with what's truly right and wrong, but even before the First Siege he already is certain in his decision to protect Wei Wuxian.
* As Wei Wuxian makes his way to where Wen Qing and Wen Ning are being held, he knocks out all of the Jin clansmen there with his demonic energy. He makes it known that if he wasn't so charitable, he could have easily killed all of them in the blink of an eye.
* Wei Wuxian being shot in the chest by a trigger happy soldier. However, he shows no signs pain whatsoever to imply that he was even shot in the heart. He then coldly tears the arrow point from out of his chest, covering it in a dark aura and then throws it down at the archer who shot him right in his own heart.

* Although it was a futile effort, Lan Wangji standing his ground against the entire Jin Clan when they planned to siege the Burial Mounds is commendable nonetheless. Even when this earns him three-hundred lashes from his own clan, he accepts it with iron-clad dignity and he doesn't feel he has anything to repent for, and even defiantly questions his uncle about the world's GreyAndGrayMorality.
* When Jiang Cheng realizes Wei Wuxian is back and attempts to start a fight over it, it's Lan Jingyi who defuses the situation in such a way that Jiang Cheng has no choice but to let Wei Wuxian go, even if only for the time being, as otherwise he would make himself look foolish in public for claiming that Wei Wuxian is alive despite being credited for killing him.
* Wei Wuxian helping Jin Ling dealing with bullies at Koi tower by dispatching them and having Jin Ling copy his movements.
* Ouyang Zizhen verbally giving Clan Leader Yao what for when he remains ungrateful towards Wei Wuxian for saving their lives, reminding them that if it weren't for the latter they would have all been zombie fodder by now. Not even Jiang Cheng's subtle threats towards his own father do anything to intimidate the young lad, who remains rightfully cocksure that what he's saying are facts they can't deny.
* Lan Wangji making it clear to Jiang Cheng, using only very few words, that if he will not allow him to harm Wei Wuxian. When Jiang Cheng tried to stop them from leaving Lotus Pier, Lan Wangji grabbed his wrist and commanded him to let go. When Jiang Cheng fails to take the hint and brandishes Zidian, Lan Wangji outright shouts at him to piss off. Say what you will, but Lan Wangji uncharacteristically losing his cool and coming very close to throwing hands with the feared leader of Lotus Pier in his own turf is tense as it is exhilarating.
* Even if it sends both the characters and the audience in tears, Wen Ning still did what had to be done by telling Jiang Cheng the truth behind his golden core. The guy keeps hitting him with Zidian and yelling at him, but it does nothing to make Wen Ning pause or back off. And Wen Ning's entire speech has him talk clearly and powerfully, without stuttering (like he usually does) even once. For once, Wen Ning is standing up both for himself and for his friend, and the only thing Jiang Cheng is able to do is stand, listen, and go through a painful JerkassRealization as the AwfulTruth sinks in.
* It's also both funny and sad, but Wei Wuxian's reaction when Jiang Cheng arrives at the Guanyin Temple is to roll his eyes. It's his way of telling his old friend, "If you have any insults left to throw at us, I'm not having it anymore. Just leave me alone." It's all the more meaningful when Wei Wuxian has spent most of his life just taking all the abuse that both mother and son would give him.
** Jiang Cheng's entrance is quite the thing to behold as well, busting the door down with zidian and giving Jin Guangyao a brief but genuinely challenging fight.
* Wei Wuxian using his abilities to make Jin Guangyao see the ghosts of his victims and have a major FreakOut, ending with him dropping on the floor and screaming and spitting blood. It's satisfying to see the man in a pathetic state, especially after all the things he did to make Wei Wuxian suffer, even going so far as to sadistically gloat in his face that his fate was inevitable. Better yet, it's what buys Lan Xichen enough time to recover his spiritual powers and stop his old friend from doing anything further.
* After several episodes of everyone being wrapped around Jin Guangyao's snaky fingers, it's nice to see his plans and his own composure slowly unravel in the final arc, courtesy of Wei Wuxian, a very enraged sword spirit, and one unexpectedly vengeful clan leader (hint: it's not Jiang Cheng).
* The final conversation between Wei Wuxian and Nie Huaisang, when the two come to an awkward understanding. Wei Wuxian reveals that he doesn't necessarily approve of what Huaisang has become, but he won't do anything about it unless he has to. As for Huaisang's part, he implies that now he's gotten what he's wanted, he won't cause any trouble.
