* WTHCastingAgency: The New York-based non-union voice cast didn't sit well for some, while for others the performances are mixed at best. This is aggravated by the fact that Jake Tillman would return for the [[WesternAnimation/TransformersWarForCybertronTrilogy Netflix series]]. While the general consensus is that the performances as a whole improved notably with time and some experience (Grimlock, Soundwave, and Megatron being prominent examples of very well-received performances), the stigma of non-union talent hovered over the production and can still be frequently trotted out by the show's detractors. That being said, the show's CanonForeigners did help to ''slightly'' levy the situation.

* BrokenBase: The complete absence of any supporting human cast, a first for the mainline franchise. While Humans were absent from a couple of the Japanese exclusive series, they are fairly obscure to Western fans. Fans who loathe human characters as a SpotlightStealingSquad are happy to just focus solely on the Cybertronians. However, others question the point of setting the series on Earth at all if they weren't going to involve humans, noting that Human-Cybertronian interactions have been a core part of the franchise since G1 and that cutting that out means the Autobots have no real personal stake in protecting Earth from the Decepticons.

* MoralEventHorizon:
** Even though he's already a Decepticon, Starscream shows how much of a piece of slag he is when he [[spoiler: murders his Seekers (the same Seekers who willingly betray Megatron following his presumed death and demotion) in cold blood after merging with the Allspark.]] It gets even worse when [[spoiler: he's rebuilt as a Quintesson Judge, and personally tries to destroy not just Cybertron and all who live on it, but the ''entire universe'', simply out of spite for his mistreatment.]]
** The Scientist crosses it when he kidnaps hundreds of Soundwaves from the universes that were destroyed thanks to him, immobilizing them and forcing them to be nothing more than souvenirs. All while continuing to assist the Quintessons' omnicidal goals even when it no longer brings sadistic pleasure to him. It's no wonder just the sight of this was what led to Soundwave's CharacterDevelopment and HeelFaceTurn.
** Megatron X crosses it either when he [[spoiler: kills Optimus Prime for refusing to join him then proceeding to wipe out all the Autobots and Decepticons]], or when he [[spoiler: brutally kills his other counterpart out of sheer contempt]].

** The Scientist crosses it when he kidnaps the Soundwave and immobilizing them and forcing them to be figurines as souvenirs of the destruction each universe that happened thanks to him, solely to entertain himself and keep himself interested and continue assisting the Quintessons's omnicidal goals even when it no longer brings even sadistic pleasure to him. It's no wonder just the sight of this was what lead to Soundwave's CharacterDevelopment and HeelFaceTurn.

* WhatAnIdiot:
** The Quintesson scientist in "The Scientist". He's shown to have collected Soundwaves from worlds that have been destroyed and is positively euphoric when this world's Soundwave and Hot Rod enter his hide-out. Soundwave attempts to shoot him with a sonic blast, but freezes up due to a glitch in his system and Hot Rod gets easily pinned by the Scientist.
*** '''You'd expect:''' The Scientist to take advantage of the fact that both of his opponents are now incapacitated, brainwash Soundwave the same way he did the other "collectibles" and then either have him destroy Hot Rod or destroy Hot Rod himself.
*** '''Instead:''' He completely repairs Soundwave without taking any pre-cautions.
*** '''As A Result:''' Soundwave politely thanks the Scientist for repairing him - then shoots him in the face, destroying his body and freeing himself and Hot Rod.
** Megatron could've easily get reinforcements for the chance the Other One shows up if he had just tell Optimus and the others the ''truth''.

* AuthorsSavingThrow:
** Much like ''WesternAnimation/TransformersRobotsInDisguise2015'', Cartoon Network airs ''Cyberverse'' in a miserably early time slot. However, likely thanks to its shorter run time, Hasbro uploads every episode of the show to their official [=YouTube=] page a day or two after they air on TV.
** The ''Transformers'' brand has often been criticized for its lack of female characters with most of the cartoons, comics and movies only managing [[TheSmurfettePrinciple Smurfette]] levels of it, mainly because of Transformers being a toy franchise that has been primarily marketed towards boys since its inception, as well as most of the characters being alien robots that have a different understanding of the concept of gender than humans. Due to this show being developed in the later 2010s, when those two factors aren't going to hold up for a lot of viewers as acceptable reasons to not have more prominent female characters, ''Cyberverse'' has been changing this with many more female bots, both as main characters and in the background.
*** It even added a genderfluid character in the form of [[https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Acid_Storm_(Cyberverse) Acid Storm.]][[note]]Although admittedly this was a {{Handwave}} for the character's inconsistent animation.[[/note]]
** After a year of selling action gimmick-laden toys which the majority of the fandom dislikes, the [[https://kotaku.com/transformers-cyberverse-toys-get-armored-up-in-2019-1832513835 2019 lineup now features more poseable, action gimmick-less toys]]. Having removable armor, the figures can be left as-is for purists AND have something extra for people who enjoy gimmicks, giving BOTH sides what they want for once.
** Season 2 features more characters from other incarnations of ''Transformers'', rather than heavily leaning too much toward G1, something the franchise in the [=2010s=] tended to be criticized for.
** ''Cheetor'', of all characters, as well as Beast Wars Dinobot in a cameo, have finally given some much begged mainstream attention to the 90's era that is often ignored in favor of G1, with rare token handouts that aren't always well received.
** The other four Dinobots (Slug, Swoop, Snarl, and Sludge) finally make their proper appearance in Season 4.

** [[TheStarscream Starscream]] is the former second-in-command of the Decepticons willing to do anything for power and revenge. Abandoned by Megatron for his treasonous behavior, Starscream manipulates his loyal Seekers to help him steal the Allspark and Vector Sigma so he can become [[AGodAmI a living god]] and kill all Cybertronians for his insane utopian vision, starting with his loyalists first. When defeated by Optimus Prime and imprisoned on the Ark, Starscream tampers with Wheeljack's Allspark emitters to launch a HatePlague upon the Autobots in the hopes that they would kill each other. His most heinous crime is when he encounters [[MultiversalConqueror the Quintessons]] and gladly sells out his planet and race to save his own spark. Rebuilt as a Quintesson Judge, Starscream uses his newfound authority to declare all Cybertronians guilty of crimes against him and takes delight in massacring civilians with the enslaved War Titan Croaton as he prepares to destroy the entire universe in his final act of revenge. An OmnicidalManiac who holds no loyalty to anyone but himself, Starscream is a threat so destructive that the Autobots and Decepticons are willing to put aside their differences to save their universe.
** Season 3's "Quintesson Invasion" arc: [[MadScientist The Scientist]] is the mastermind behind the Quintessons' invasion throughout the multiverse. In order to pass judgement on each universe, the Scientist mutilates several of its natives into becoming Quintesson Judges [[OmnicidalManiac so they can condemn it and annihilate everything]]. To keep things more satisfying, the Scientist also kidnaps the Soundwaves from all the countless universes that he has destroyed and [[AndIMustScream traps them as immobile figurines in his collection]]. Eventually recruiting Starscream into becoming the Judge of his universe, the Scientist used a machine that [[SoulPoweredEngine drained the sparks]] of numerous Cybertronians in order to fuel him. After both the Autobots and Decepticons started to fight back, the Scientist would [[BrainwashedAndCrazy take control of the Titan Croaton against his will and force him to attack them]].
** "The Other One" & "The Perfect Decepticon": [[EvilDoppelganger Megatron X]], aka the Other One, is a Megatron from an alternate universe where he took the fateful decision of murdering his former friend Optimus Prime and claiming his Matrix of Leadership early in the war. With Prime gone, Megatron X proceeded to kill all the Autobots and use the Allspark to create his army of "[[MechaMooks Perfect Decepticons]]", later revealing that he forcefully wiped the minds of the Perfect Decepticons to make them mindless slaves to him. After this, Megatron X [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness exterminated his "unneeded" Decepticons]] and [[BadBoss tormented the survivors Astrotrain and the Insecticons]] so much that they would rather flee to other universes than live under his rule. When the multiverse-hopping Megatron steals his Matrix to stop the Quintesson invasion in present-day, Megatron X pursues his doppelgänger with extreme prejudice, eventually catching up to him in the main universe and kills him with ease, [[PretenderDiss calling him unworthy and a failure to his name]], and relishes to repeat his genocide of Autobots and Decepticons all over again in this universe. Feared and hated by everyone, Megatron X is what Megatron would have been without honor or respect for Optimus Prime.
** "The Immobilizers":
*** [[spoiler:[[PlanetDestroyer Trypticon]] is [[FauxAffablyEvil the seemingly stern, yet fair employer of the Mercenaries]] who [[TheManBehindTheMan has them lead]] multiple planet-destroying raids on multiple planets, enjoying witnessing the planets being burned. After having destroyed the Dinobot's homeworld, Trypticon allows Soundblaster to lead another one of the infamous destructive raids on Cybertron. After he and his team failed, [[FauxAffablyEvil Trypticon drops the façade and fires them]], before leaving them to burn as [[OmnicidalManiac he attempts to destroy Cybertron]], before eying countless other planets for the same intent.]]
*** [[spoiler:[[TheDragon Soundblaster]] is Trypticon's second-in-command while being the most active threat in the story. [[PlanetDestroyer Soundblaster]] has gleefully destroyed at least a dozen planets, and next targets Cybertron [[DisproportionateRetribution out of petty spite against Soundwave]] for defeating him in a contest. [[OmnicidalManiac Soundblaster intends to purge it of life]], before unfreezing Soundwave's pet bird, Laserbeak, so he can painfully imprison him, before intending to torture Soundwave to death with [[MakeMeWannaShout violent sound waves]] that amplify and echo over and over again.]]

** Megatron and Optimus participating in Cheetor's SecretTestOfCharacter in "Trials" is essentially couples therapy due to their [[FoeYayShipping dynamic]].

** Astrotrain for his eternal hatred of Deadend.

* UncannyValley: Windblade has been given markings near her mouth, like in the IDW G1 comics. ''Unlike'' the IDW comics, they were placed near the corners of her mouth, which makes her look like a creepy marionette.

* LGBTFanbase: Due to the heavy amounts of HoYay (and FoeYayShipping) between the Autobots and Decepticons and the themes of love, friendship, family, and identity, this show gained one of the largest LGBTQ+ fanbases in the franchise.

** [[WesternAnimation/TransformersAnimated Lockdown]] and [[spoiler:''[[WesternAnimation/TransformersBeastWars Cheetor]]'']] appearing in the second season was a pleasant surprise for everyone.

** Bludgeon for [[spoiler: killing Slipstream, thus crushing Windblade/Slipstream]] and Megatron X [[spoiler:for his MoralEventHorizon below aka crushing Optimus/Megatron.]]
