* JerkassWoobie: Timon has this going for him. Sure, he's manipulative, greedy and short-tempered but he has his fair share of sympathetic moments and generally gets tortured worse than Pumbaa. Just look at his tearful reaction to being banished in "Once Upon A Timon".

** Zazu is much less nice than he is in the cartoon (although still has a heart), but it's because he's under constant pressure to work and due to a mix-up he doesn't get a proper day off.

* BizarroEpisode: "Amazon Quiver" falls into this, as Timon and Pumbaa get trapped inside a hollow tree by a ravenous panther and wait out the predator until the year 2090, where the three become elderly and the amazon becomes futuristic.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: The other characters from the film only appear sparsely, despite getting a few enjoyable [[ADayInTheLimelight Days In The Limelight]] in the starting points of the series. Then there are the original characters of the series, who typically disapear after about one or two episodes.

* TastesLikeDiabetes: [[{{LighterAndSofter}} Season three]] will ''never'' let us forget that Timon and Pumbaa are "bestest best friends". The season blatantly spells it out in nearly every episode and basically thrives on [[{{FriendshipMoment}} friendship moments]] between the two. While the first two seasons also possessed these qualities, it was balanced out with visual gags, slapstick, NightmareFuel and [[{{ArsonMurderAndJaywalking}}Timon's witty snark and sarcasm]], not to mention it being made less obvious at that point.

* TastesLikeDiabetes: [[{{LighterAndSofter}} Season three]] will ''never'' let us forget that Timon and Pumbaa are "bestest best friends". The season blatantly spells it out in nearly every episode and basically thrives on [[{{FriendshipMoment}} friendship moments]] between the two.

* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff:
** While the show was a modest success at best in the United States, it achieved more success overseas, especially in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East[[note]]where it's ''[[AdaptationDisplacement more known than]] [[WesternAnimation/TheLionKing1994 the original movie]]''[[/note]] and Japan. In fact, the whole reason a third season was commisioned for this show was because of its popularity on various European television networks.

* PeripheryDemographic: The first two seasons qualify, as there was quite a bit of {{NoCelebritiesWereHarmed}} and {{GeniusBonus}} involved.

* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: ''Timon and Pumbaa'' is so popular in Arab World, and even ''[[AdaptationDisplacement more known than]] [[WesternAnimation/TheLionKing1994 the original movie]]''. It definitely helps that Creator/MohamedHenedy, a popular Egyptian actor, voices Timon in the franchise (except ''WesternAnimation/TheLionGuard'', due to a stop of the Egyptian accent in Disney's new Arabic dubs).
** Defied and lampshaded by Culinary Quint, a Frenchman who doesn't love Creator/JerryLewis.

** There is such a moment connected with a {{Woolseyism}} in a foreign dub. The joke about Frenchmen loving Jerry Lewis (mentioned in GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff plus NationalStereotypes tab below) would probably fly over Russian audience's heads, so Russian dub mentions Gérard Depardieu instead. Cut to 2013, when Depardieu moves to Russia to escape from taxes...

* MoralEventHorizon: Boy Beaver crossed it in ''Amusement Bark'', by having the Log Flume operator BoundAndGagged, then messing with the controls to endanger Timon and Pumbaa while they were on the ride. His father was greatly appalled at this.

** The original film didn't give Simba a good reason on why he should be king, as he didn't show to have any skills to rule the Pride Lands. However, the episodes "Congo on Like This" and "Shake Your Djibouti", [[WholeEpisodeFlashback both of which presumably take place some time during Scar's reign]], show that while Simba is living a Hakuna Matata life with Timon and Pumbaa, he is beginning to show the qualities in being King of Pride Rock, such as loyalty, bravery, and strength.

** This could be the case with Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed, considering [[AnimalStereotypes the controversy of how the film portrays hyenas]]. While they are still as vicious and threatening as they are in the movie, they seem to be evolving into neutrality as the show progresses, with "TV Dinner", which is the last of their segment, [[EarnYourHappyEnding giving them a happy ending]]. Other hyenas in the series, like the one in "Guru-Some", are also portrayed as good guys instead of threats.

* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: Timon and Pumbaa is so popular in Arab World, and even ''[[AdaptationDisplacement more known than]] [[Disney/TheLionKing the original movie]]''. It definitely helps that Mohamed Henedy, a popular Egyptian actor, voices Timon in the franchise (except WesternAnimation/TheLionGuard, due to stop using the Egyptian accent in Disney's new Arabic dubs).

* BrokenBase: Fans of [[Disney/TheLionKing the original movie]] are divided when it comes to this series. There are some who consider it to be a good and worthy SpinOff of the film, some who think it's a good show but [[FanonDiscontinuity prefer to think of it as]] [[AlternateContinuity its own canon]], and then there are some who [[FanonDiscontinuity ignore it entirely]]. One of the reasons is for it being mainly just about Timon and Pumbaa.

* FunnyAneurysmMoment: One episode has a talking statue order Timon to bring him the airplane warning light from the Empire State Building, which he does. This is followed by a shot of the Empire State Building with several planes crashed into it.

* WhatAnIdiot: Timon, despite how insistently he claims to be "[[TheSmartGuy the brains of the outfit]]" between himself and Pumbaa, has ''quite'' a few moments of this, most notably taking the phrase "in a pickle" [[LiteralMinded literally]] in "[[FantasticVoyagePlot Beetle Romania]]" (while Pumbaa is using it to describe the fact that Timon has gotten himself trapped inside his body, no less).

* AuthorsSavingThrow: This could be the case with Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed, considering [[AnimalStereotypes the controversy of how the film portrays hyenas]]. While they still have their carnivorous natures, they do not appear to be as threatening as they are in the movie and they even get a good ending in "TV Dinner". Other hyenas in the series, like the one in "Guru-Some", are also portrayed as good guys instead of threats.

** The title cards for the show are also beautiful, with "To Kilamanjaro Bird" being the best example.

* WhatAnIdiot: Timon, despite how insistently he claims to be "[[TheSmartGuy the brains of the outfit]]" between himself and Pumbaa, has ''quite'' a few moments of this, most notably taking the phrase "in a pickle" literally in "[[FantasticVoyagePlot Beetle Romania]]" (while Pumbaa is using it to describe the fact that Timon has gotten himself trapped inside his body, no less).

** To be fair, however, [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments its "Timon entering Pumbaa's brain" scene]] almost makes up for that.

* {{They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot}}: "Beetle Romania", judging from its title card, could have mined endless humor from the idea of Timon and Pumbaa being fortune tellers, but instead it's just another {{Fantastic Voyage Plot}}.

* {{SugarWiki/Awesome Art}}: While any episode sent to [[Creator/WaltDisneyAnimationStudios Walt Disney Animation Australia]] is sure to be visually stellar, "Stand By Me" (which was actually colored digitally and released in theaters), "Forbidden Pumbaa", "Beethoven's Whiff/Bumble in the Jungle" and "Jamaica Mistake" are nearly film quality.

** Well, Creator/Nathan Lane ''[[WordOfDante did]]'' [[WordOfDante call them "Disney's first gay couple."]] It helps that Lane himself is gay.
