* EscapistCharacter: Sei can be considered this. She's an ordinary Japanese OfficeLady (with a vague background for extra ease of self-insertion) who's been summoned to a fantasy world. She gets OP powers on arrival and is able to do vast amount of work with almost no effort. Because her work no longer exhausts her, she is able to take care of her appearance more, and the fact that she now has maids doesn't hurt either. She has an attractive love interest who is obviously only interested in her, and is surrounded by attractive men and women who value her. Most of the conflicts involving her (i.e. the Kyle situation) are resolved by others. Even the king owes her a debt. Sure, she occasionally has to risk her life, but since this is a slice of life series, there isn't much tension and she mostly spends the time experimenting with cooking, making cosmetics, and generally doing whatever she wants.

* UnnecessaryMakeover: Some fans who liked Sei's {{Meganekko}} design were disappointed when her eyesight was quickly fixed (episode 2 in the anime) and she stopped wearing glasses permanently.
* WhatAnIdiot: Prince Kyle in general is guilty of this, especially when his saint candidate, Aira, is concerned. His behavior is incredibly misguided but well-meaning at best or horribly selfish and idiotic at worst. To use specific examples:
** The Third Order of Knights have been grievously wounded by a Salamander, a fire-breathing, high-ranking monster that left them with deep cuts and 2nd-3rd degree burns. The Institute is forced to ship as many healing potions as they can to try to save the knights at best or let them peacefully pass at worst.
*** '''You Would Think''': Since saints and saint candidates are renowned for their miraculous holy and healing powers, Prince Kyle would take Aira right to them so she can show her power and prove her worth as a potential saint, earning her the gratitude and admiration of the knights and their families.
*** '''Instead''': Prince Kyle refuses to even let Aira ''see'' the knights, as he believes all this horror and gore would be too much for her young, innocent self to handle. The knights cry foul at his prioritizing her sensibilities over their lives and King Salutania laments that politics prevents him from punishing his son more severely for his idiocy. As Sei happened to produce several highly effective potions and personally saved the Third Order's captain, Albert Hawke, she gets their gratitude and support instead, opening up many more avenues to keep proving her saintly powers and worth over Aira.
** Light Novel Only: Kyle's so convinced that Aira is the Saint that even after [[spoiler:Sei is ''publicly acknowledged'' as the Saint,]] he just thinks she's a decoy the King put out for propaganda reasons.
*** '''You Would Think''': Kyle would keep this opinion to himself. If he's right, and Sei [[spoiler:really is a fake intended to keep the public calm]], it would be ''dangerous'' to reveal this fact before Aira was ready to perform her duties. And if he's wrong he'd be insulting the [[spoiler:single most important person in the world]], at a time when his political position isn't terribly stable to begin with.
*** '''Instead''': Kyle blurts out his conspiracy theory during an argument with Liz. A very public, very ''loud'' argument. That had drawn a large crowd of onlookers. [[spoiler:[[FromBadToWorse Including Sei herself.]] The entire fiasco ends up involving the king himself and several other of Sei's influential friends and acquaintances, the fallout of which ends up with him having his right to succession taken away, along with him and his faction being put under house arrest to prevent any further embarrassments]].
** Anime Only: The report on Sei's [[spoiler:ability to regrow missing limbs with Holy Magic]] finally makes him admit she might be the Saint. He's already in a precarious position, politically, due to the talent and intellect of his younger brother. Backing the wrong Saint so forcefully (and publicly) would only hurt Kyle's chances of inheriting the throne - and potentially get those around him punished as well.
*** '''You Would Think''': Kyle would try to make amends with Sei. He doesn't lose anything by approaching her quietly to try and smooth things over, then moving to some form of public apology if she's willing to forgive him. The issues he and his supporters would face if Sei became the Saint are only there because she and Kyle are known to be on bad terms, after all. Repairing their relationship (or at least the public perception of it) before that could happen would make most of the issues disappear.
*** '''Instead''': Kyle opts for [[ZeroApprovalGambit deliberately continuing to shun Sei and coddle Aira]]. He claims that this is because protecting Aira from blame in the event of Sei becoming the Saint is his duty as the future King. It never seems to occur to him that there would be a lot less punishment being doled out if he tried to ''fix'' the political crisis his actions had caused, instead of concentrating on making it ''worse''. Or that picking a course of action that was alienating four influential Noble Families (Houses Drewes, Hawke, and Valdec were backing Sei, and his behavior was socially damaging to his fiancee from House Ashley), two Knight's Orders (the 2nd and 3rd) and the Royal Magi Assembly would significantly reduce the chance of him ever actually ''becoming'' King.
