* NightmareFuel: The Nightmare Room in ''Dougal and the Blue Cat''. Good LORD. The faces are horrifying enough as they float and spin all over the screen. The original French version has each of the horrifying faces introduce themselves, while yelling at the top of their lungs, while the English dub has them all laughing loudly and evilly as they taunt Buxton. Neither version is any less terrifying.

** The CGI reboot series' episode "Egghead Dylan" has Dylan receiving a bump on his head, causing a 360-degree change in his personality. Seeing him so overly hyperactive, topped with a creepy googly wide-eyed look, can be rather jarring and just feels so wrong...
* PeripheryDemographic: Back in the days before kids' animation shows were ''expected'' to catch an additional geek audience, Thompson's whimsical humor surprised people by appealing to adults so much. It probably helped that ''The Magic Roundabout'' was shown on UK TV immediately before the news - the first adult program of the evening - so a lot of adults just home from work first caught it by accident when they turned the set on a few minutes early, or had an excuse for turning it on at that time.

* {{Macekre}}: The American redub of the 2005 movie. The original movie was already in English, and the original series it was based off of was never ever aired or released before in the States, which makes one only wonder why Creator/TheWeinsteinCompany decided to change all but two of the character's voices (and even then, [[Music/KylieMinogue one]] had to redub her lines in an American accent), cram in a ton of pop-culture references (at times, there were barrages of references), and edit the hell out of the original movie. Critics and audiences reviewed it as well as you'd expect.

* BrokenBase: There is one between the English and French versions of ''Dougal and the Blue Cat''. Both versions are very interesting to listen to, but when the film arrived to DVD in the UK with both versions, some British fans who have not been previously familiar with the French version found it to be better than the English version (for further details, [[http://stevegoble.blogspot.com/2011/11/pollux-et-le-chat-bleu-vs-dougal-and.html this article]] explains why). For one thing, the French version is more lively without narration (especially since the characters have their own voices) and provides more explanation. That having been said, the English version is equally enjoyable and includes a bundle of very clever British humor and wit, along with carrying the same horrifying and melancholy tones when appropriate.

* TearJerker: Florence's sad song from ''Dougal and the Blue Cat''. To beloved fans of the show, something about seeing each your favorite characters being locked up in a dungeon and taken from their cozy garden home just feels so wrong. The chorus lyrics are especially depressingly dark.
-->'''Florence:''' ''(singing)'' Shall we ever see the sun again? Shall we ever feel the rain again? Shall we ever play our games again? Or will the games we play end here?
** Also, the scene where each of the characters are captured by Buxton's army. Especially in the French version when Florence screams for help and calls for Dougal (in the English dub, she calls for Zebedee who has already been captured).
** From the same film, [[spoiler:Brian's]] DisneyDeath after [[spoiler:the snail goes back to retrieve Zebedee's magic moustache from the factory, just before it collapses. Dougal tearfully even [[VitriolicBestBuds admits that Brian really was his best friend]]]]. It's also hard not to feel bad for [[HeelFaceTurn Buxton]], as he tearfully wallows in guilt, after having been stripped from his regin of power. Even [[spoiler:Brian, who shows up alive]], is [[TearsOfJoy moved to tears]] by this, and convinces the gang to forgive him.
** In one episode, Dylan getting more and more irritated as more characters keep interrupting him, while he tries to make a clay statue of Dougal. Considering how he rarely gets upset (given his usual laidback personality), it's hard not to feel bad for him.
** In the 2005 film, the gang trudging through a snowstorm on their way back to the village and almost losing hope.
