* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: The author has taken a rather creative [[ExactWords interpretation]] on a minor canon character's [[AllThereInTheManual backstory]]. N'tho 'Sraom is described as [[http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/N%27tho_%27Sraom the youngest member of a special operations unit and having a healthy respect for humanity]]. His AlternateUniverse counterpart demonstrates this via his status as a member of the [[{{Otaku}} Squidhead]] subculture, who admire human entertainment and pop culture. He has an almost gamer-like desire to dominate his opponents on the battlefield, making him reckless.
** Given that it's a hundred and thirty-one years after the events of Halo 3 in-story, and that when we see another of the Chief's Sangheli companions from that time he is quite ancient, and on top of ''that'' that N'Tho is quite young, it's possible that this is a descendant, or was named after the original bearer of the N'tho 'Sraom name. Or it could simply be a case of them having the same name, but otherwise having no relation- there are plenty of examples of that sort of thing happening, even on modern-day Earth.

* WhatAnIdiot: N'tho in again, the Thresher Maw chapter and lampshaded no less.
** He does have the grace to admit when he's screwed up, or lampshade when he is doing something stupid. He openly states "This may be the single stupidest thing I've ever done" when he has the job of being bait for The Flood.

* TakeThatScrappy: Notably averted with Diana Allers, who the author personally has no strong feelings about one way or the other and thus felt no aversions to including.

* RonTheDeathEater: A less extreme and egregious example than most, but Miranda's still suffering from AdaptationalVillainy, going from a LawfulNeutral GoodIsNotNice JerkWithAHeartOfGold to a LawfulEvil KnightTemplar and SmugSnake.

* MoralEventHorizon:

** Saren, as in mainstream continuity, crossed this when he killed scores of innocent people and pinned the blame on Anderson [[FantasticRacism solely to keep humans out of the Spectres.]] [[AxCrazy And also, as Anderson theorizes, out of bloodlust]].

* CrazyAwesome: N'tho 'Sraom, and he'll be happy to remind you of that when he isn't actively proving it, IdiotHero moments notwithstanding. He is, after all, from a species capable of fighting a SPARTAN on nearly equal footing and is a Spec Ops member.

** RonTheDeathEater: A less extreme and egregious example than most, but Miranda's still suffering from AdaptationalVillainy, going from a LawfulNeutral GoodIsNotNice JerkWithAHeartOfGold to a LawfulEvil KnightTemplar and SmugSnake.
** [[JustifiedTrope Possibly justified]] in that this may be what canon Miranda was like prior to her CharacterDevelopment in ''VideoGame/MassEffect2''.

* CrazyAwesome: N'tho 'Sraom, and he'll be happy to remind you of that when he isn't actively proving it, IdiotHero moments notwithstanding.

* BadassDecay: [[spoiler: The Arbiter's suffered this a little bit, but isn't completely inept. Also justified somewhat because he's coming along in years and isn't as fast as he used to be. That and Miranda [[BatmanGambit knows how Elites think, which helps her.]]]]

* LoveItOrHateIt: Chances are you think Fanfic/TheLastSpartan is either A - A refreshingly unique take on the Halo / Mass Effect Crossover that does a good job of merging the two universes as well as giving a good portrayal of the Master Chief, or B - A fanfic with a horrible premise in which Humanity doesn't act in a realistic way and the Master Chief is way too mean and/or angsty.

* StopHelpingMe: N'tho is guilty of this when the Normandy Crew first runs into a Thresher Maw, resulting in some TranquilFury from Master Chief in response.
** In-universe Master Chief also [[KickTheDog comes to see his whole team this way and plans to get rid of them all later except for Kaidan and Ashley]]. He gets better.

* CompleteMonster: As if Saleon weren't evil enough in canon, he also [[spoiler: tested Flood infection forms on live subjects, even showing Garrus, Chief, and The Arbiter video footage of one of his subjects [[BodyHorror getting infected]].]] He's so bad that he prompts Garrus' StartOfDarkness when [[spoiler: Garrus inflicts some nasty PayEvilUntoEvil LaserGuidedKarma on him]].

** In addition, it's noted that AIs are still common among humans living ''outside'' of Citadel law and influence.
