* FridgeHorror: Given how it's since been revealed how abusive Stefano really was to Eliza, the story ends with her miserable, naked in the bed of their ship cabin and Stefano being completely dismissive of her discomfort while preening in the mirror. Given everything that'd just happened in Flor, Eliza was likely far too disturbed and shaken to pretend to enjoy her role as his wife as she usually resigned herself to. It's entirely probable that Stefano had very recently forced her in bed as he was wont to do when he didn't get his way.
* HarsherInHindsight: Eliza freely admits her marriage sucks and she's little more than a trophy wife for a total idiot, but she seems to put up with it well enough. Come ''Literature/SangueSerenissima'' and it's all but stated Stefano was not only verbally and emotionally abusive to Eliza, but that he was also a rapist who exercised a MaritalRapeLicense, which puts a far nastier spin on a good deal of the start and end of the story.
