Instead, it was a hodgepodge of guys past their prime (Wrestling/KingKongBundy, Wrestling/NikolaiVolkoff), guys who didn't benefit by having [=DiBiase=] in their corner (Wrestling/BamBamBigelow, [[Wrestling/StoneColdSteveAustin "The Ringmaster" Steve Austin]]), guys with no credibility (Wrestling/{{Tatanka}}, [[Wrestling/CharlesWright Kama]]), guys with lame gimmicks (Brian Lee as "The [=Underfaker=]", [[Wrestling/BallsMahoney Xanta Klaus]]), a guy who was less than reliable ([[Wrestling/SidEudy Sycho Sid]]) and a guy who was on his way out the door ([[Wrestling/SeanWaltman The 1-2-3 Kid]]). The only guy [=DiBiase=] had any real history or connection with was I.R.S., and he got stuck in the midcard for two years before leaving for Wrestling/{{WCW}}.
** Similarly, having him as a manager for the [[Wrestling/NewWorldOrder NWO]] could have been something, but once Wrestling/EricBischoff joined the group [=DiBiase=] was pushed to the back.

Even Wrestling/JimmyHart, the manager, tried to talk them out of it to no avail, culminating in the latter's HeelFaceTurn.

[=DiBiase=] chose to wrestle his match against Flair despite the wound, so when the match started, Ric naturally went after the injury. [=DiBiase=] collapsed outside the ring in his own blood, eventually losing by count-out....and then Murdoch attacked him again, delivering a brutal Brainbuster. [=DiBiase=] was a heel going into the match, and he emerged a face.
