** Vince's roommate in the second book, intentionally. He was supposed to seem annoying for his trivial problems in comparison to Vince's (he did have problems though-- politician's son used mainly for photo ops), and Vince could never actually say what his own issues were, which made the roommate think he didn't have any).

* MagnificentBastard: [[TheDon Anthony Luca]], Vince's father, is a successful mafia boss known for his fair dealings, good treatment of his subordinates, and resourcefulness make it easy to forget his involvement in more sinister rackets like violent loan-sharking. Anthony [[GoodParents is disappointed by Vince's decision to lead an honest life but respects Vince's wishes and intelligence]]. He helps his son out in small ways, like getting him a legitimate credit card. In the first book, Anthony [[OrcusOnHisThrone stays on the sidelines]], aside from bringing some LaserGuidedKarma to some associates who've been cheating two people Vince is trying to help. The sequel starts with him smuggling a bag of contraband past the FBI in a car the head agent's daughter is a passenger in. He pulls some strings so that Vince's college roommate Trey is the son of an opposing criminal, and the family can spy on Trey's dad. In book's climax, Anthony personally leads a mission to save a kidnapped associate. Then, out of sympathy for his defeated foe's confused son, he helps Trey from being arrested for grand theft auto by repairing and returning a damaged stolen car.

* TheScrappy: Vince's best friend Alex. He's mostly only Vince's friend since he's the only one not scared of the whole "mob boss as a dad" thing, but he can also be very unsympathetic to his friend and cowardly, which is made worse by his whiny "poor me" nature.
