*** The show reveals a fanboy who is implied to be the original User who played the Games during all four season of the original series. Yet, the character is presented as a [[BasementDweller basement-dwelling]] disheveled middle-aged man who is obsessed with the series, to the point that he drops everything he's doing to boot up an old computer game once he realizes Mainframe has been rebooted. Additionally, the character is portrayed as a [[FailureIsTheOnlyOption chronic loser]] who has never won a Game (never mind that the User did exactly that in the ''first episode of the original series'', as well as several times through seasons 3 and 4), and appears to exist solely to level [[TakeThatAudience cheap shots at fans of the original series]].

* SerialNumbersFiledOff: For all the comparisons to ''WesternAnimation/CodeLyoko'' and ''Series/SuperhumanSamuraiSyberSquad'', the show that ''The Guardian Code'' bears the most resemblance to is a 2006 animated series titled ''[=MP4Force=]'', a series about four teenagers that get recruited by an online game and get transported to a secret room where they upload themselves to {{cyberspace}} to prevent a virus and a human causing problems in the real world. * HilariousInHindsight: The accusations that ''Guardian Code'' was actually an adaptation of ''Series/SuperhumanSamuraiSyberSquad'' became this when that show got its own reboot, ''Anime/SSSSGridman'', (which takes equal parts influence from ''Syber Squad'' and the original ''Gridman''). Furthermore, unlike ''Guardian Code'', the response to ''Anime/SSSSGridman'' has been very positive.

** The premise of the show has more in common with ''Series/{{Zixx}}'', another show that deals with teens going into a CGI animated world to combat a threat, than it does with the original ''Reboot''.
** Given the history of Michael Hefferon's works, the premise seems very similar to another show he made, ''{{WesternAnimation/MP4orce}}'', to the point where one can conclude that it's a reboot to ''that'' than Reboot.
** And of course, detractors have noticed the similarities to ''Series/SuperhumanSamuraiSyberSquad'' and ''Series/VRTroopers''. The resemblance to the former is so uncanny that critics have noted that the reboot could be retooled into a [[OverlyLongGag reboot]] of said series instead and ''it would work better that way.'' Particulaty not escaping is how The Sourcerer is an analog to Malcolm Frink and Megabyte is an analog to Kilokhan.

Broken Base isn't for one-sided complaining. However, seeing as most of these complaints seem to be valid, I think they'd fit under Internet Backdraft.

* BrokenBase: While some of the complaints (including the fact that it seemed to be a retread of other "humans with powers in cyberspace" shows) could be mitigated by the fact that it was a sequel produced long after the original series, the final episode of the first "season" splintered the fanbase with a litany of reveals that appeared to have been done just to see how far the fanbase could be tested:
