** Oddly, enough. [[spoiler: you can't even help but feel sorry for Lampwick during the tranformation scene. It's not a good view seeing him while he desperately gets down on his knees and begs Pinocchio and even asking for Jiminy's help.]].

* TearJerker: [[spoiler: Pinocchio's apparent death.]] Also included should be the AdultFear moment when Geppetto walks desperately through pouring rain in search of Pinocchio when he doesn't come from school. His increasingly desperate cries of "Pinocchio!" ringing out while his puppet-son is unknowingly being carted away just in front of him is pretty agonizing for anyone who's ever been in charge of the welfare of another.

* HighOctaneNightmareFuel:

** MeanCharacterNiceActor: Monstro even guest-starred as a good guy in a ''{{Bonkers}}'' comic story. According to this comic, he is a well mannered but destructive (due to his size) Toon actor who has not had much work since this film.

*** This actually happened in the book. He slept too close to a fire and woke up to find his feet burned away. Geppetto makes him some new ones, and it doesn't seem to do him any harm.

* CrowningMusicOfAwesome: The whole soundtrack can count, but special mention goes to "When You Wish Upon a Star". That one song was so good, it became Disney's de facto theme song.

* FridgeHorror: [[spoiler:Looking at the coach taking the children to Pleasure Island, it appears to be pulled by donkeys. Thus, little boys are kidnapped and changed into donkeys, losing everything they ever loved in life and on top of that, some are forced to pull the coach of the man who changed them in the first place and carry other children so that they can share the same monstrous fate as themselves. (In the book, this is definitely stated.)]]
** On top of that, there's the fact that [[spoiler: no one rescues the boys after they're ''robbed of their humanity and sold into slavery''. Nobody even bothers to mourn for them, but we're supposed to clap and cheer because TheHero gets out OK. And the Coachman is never stopped, so he presumably goes on doing it to more boys. Honestly, this troper finds it pretty damn {{Egregious}} that the ending is even considered happy]].
