** This may have to do with this game being set Mid-November for the Persona 4 gang, which was when Teddie was at his peak of being drunk on the material pleasures of the human world, just before his inevitable [[HeroicBSOD mental breakdown]] upon witnessing [[spoiler: Nanako's apparent death.]]

** Naoto is the best character to use from the get-go, with natural high speed, decent attack power, having both Hama and Mudo while not having weaknesses to either like Ken and Koromaru, and because of the boost system, Naoto can easily throw around Almighty spells.

** TierInducedScrappy: Due to movesets now largely being based on Sub-Personas, Teddie was stripped of the majority of his healing spells and all his buffs, which leaves him with ''horrible'' Defense and Speed and seemingly nothing to make up for it, causing a lot of players to ignore him when putting together their party. Some players, however, realize that the fact that he's a SquishyWizard can be exploited if you equip him with a Sub-Persona with multi-hit physical skills - his extremely high Luck stat will cause him score repeated critical hits, giving one of the most competent magic users in the game ''basically unlimited SP'' thanks to the Boost-System.

** [[OneHitKill Hama and Mudo]] skills are very effective in this game. They even work against [[DemonicSpiders F.O.E.s]]! Needless to say, using Ken, Koromaru, and Naoto is a much more feasible option than in the games they come from.

Needless to say, using Ken, Koromaru, and Naoto is a much more feasible option than in the games they come from. Not helping is the fact that many enemies appear to be weak to at least one of the two; not only does this increase its hit rate, it also gives you Boost, making the next attack cost no SP.

In their original games, both had OneHitKO skills as specialties, while their other aspects lagged behind. However, because Hama and Mudo hit rates have been increased to GameBreaker status, they become MUCH more useful; in the case for Ken, the sub-Persona system covers his other problems; his natural high luck also makes him a good support character.

* FanDumb:
** After it was announced, several detractors accused it of being a parody/comedic spin-off due to the super-deformed style. This despite the fact the first trailer was almost entirely action and plot.
** Many people are unaware of the ''VideoGame/EtrianOdyssey'' roots and dismiss it as a chibi spin-off.
** Some people are jumping ship just because the game is played in a first-person perspective (à la ''VideoGame/EtrianOdyssey'' or ''VideoGame/{{Persona}} 1'' or a few ''Franchise/ShinMegamiTensei'' games; which doesn't help the image ''P3''[=/=]''P4'' fans built up in the eyes of other fans).
