* DiagnosedByTheAudience: Sitting in the Hot Seat in the church's Dark World forces Susie to spill the beans on her diet — her established unabashed consumption of chalk and other strange objects is reminiscent of pica, but the real kicker is when she reveals [[ObsessedWithFood that she always feels like she's starving and very often compelled to eat anything and everything around her]]; the inability to feel full being similar to the conditions experienced by those with Prader-Willi syndrome. [[spoiler:Subverted as it was revealed that she couldn't get the food she needed, namely meat, due to her poverty, which is the true cause of her persistent hunger.]]

[[spoiler:The truth is that she thinks she's a horrible person, because she suffers from HorrorHunger, which makes her constantly want to eat everything around her. And that's because she suffers from malnutrition, since she couldn't afford the carnivorous diet that she needs due to her family's poverty. Oh, and her grandmother that she lives with often [[QuitYourWhining scolds her for complaining that she's still hungry]]. Susie's all alone in this suffering, and the worst part is that she ''didn't know'' that her needs are different than others all the time. You've gotta feel bad for her breaking down when Noelle revealed how she actually needed that diet all along.]]

** Kris and Susie's nightmares before entering the Dark World in the Holidays' house. [[spoiler:Susie's starts out innocently enough with her meeting up with Noelle. It becomes progressively creepier as Susie starts talking about how hungry she is and how tasty Noelle looks, while slowly getting bigger and growing sharper and sharper teeth while Noelle seems completely oblivious to the danger. It finally ends with Susie ''eating Noelle alive''. You can understand why Susie looks just a bit unnerved when she wakes up. Kris seemingly re-lives an event in their early childhood in which they were locked into a container, while two mysterious people on the outside talk about "connections". It doesn't help that right after Kris wakes up, they once again try to escape the SOUL but fail miserably.]]
** The "confess your sins" trial in the church Dark World has two for the price of one:
*** [[spoiler:Susie reveals she suffers from a HorrorHunger, and she lives in constant fear she's going to snap and try to eat one of the other people in town.]]
*** [[spoiler:Kris reveals the existence of the SOUL controlling them, and it's textbook ExistentialHorror. As they explain, they have no idea what is controlling them, what it wants, or why, or even if they ''have'' any SOUL of their own outside of it. Worse, Kris is terrified that, eventually, the burden of being controlled by this alien force from outside of their perspective will cause them to snap and go on a killing spree to see if being alone will cause it to finally stop taking control of them.]]
** Page 58 implies that [[spoiler:Toriel and the other "old guard" monsters wiped out a whole town of humans. In self-defense, perhaps...except then they took over said town and claimed it was ''always'' theirs, erasing all memory of the humans]].
** Page 63 is a WhamEpisode of the highest order. All the residents of the Card Kingdom have been recovered, all the fountains sealed...except that from Lairse's journal entry, it seems that [[spoiler:Asriel was broken by the AwfulTruth about the past, and left for college to get as far away from his hometown as he could. We don't know what said truth was, but it can't have been anything good]].
** Page 67 has the Knight offer some key revelations, chief among them the fact that their plans are proceeding as intended despite the Lightners closing the Fountains of Darkness. Oh, and they just happen to [[spoiler:be a Lightner, themselves.]] The Spade King's reaction to this is rather terrifying, his face distorting as he howls his outrage at the Knight...who's barely fazed by this.
*** And it's implied that even if [[spoiler:the Spade King ''weren't'' locked up]], the Knight wouldn't be bothered by him anyway. Just what kind of power does the Knight have?

* HarsherInHindsight: Noelle coming into her own power in the Dark World thanks to Kris encouraging and guiding her is a heartwarming moment in the comic. Come chapter 2 of the game and you have the option of doing something very similar in canon - only it's anything but heartwarming. [[spoiler: The so-called "Weird Route" is achievable by steadily egging Noelle on to use her powers in a lethal way. The end result is Noelle becoming an obedient killing machine, haunted by a CompellingVoice that can follow her even to the Light World.]]

** Susie. [[spoiler:Even though he seems to take all of it in stride, the fight with Seam reveals he's deeply insecure about his own role in their adventure and his inability to fend for himself. It gets worse when the Fun Gang enters the Dark World in Noelle's house, where the former Spade King ended up and Lancer's former soldiers try to stab him in the back because their fear of his father is greater than their loyalty to him. The fact that the only reason they don't fight the Fun Gang is out of apathy rather than a change of heart doesn't really help either.]]

* AbandonShipping: Sans/Toriel a.k.a Soriel was getting some traction, as the two seemed to grow closer in their side-plot and even went on a date together. However, fans jumped ship pretty quickly with the reveal that [[spoiler: Sans only befriended Toriel to get information out of her. While some shippers still hold out hope, the very antagonistic way Sans interrogates her made most of them give up on the notion of them getting together romantically in the comic.]]

Adding insult to injury, she frequently sees Susie wander off with Kris, with the two of them even getting caught in the closet together. [[spoiler:Kris at least manages to dispel her fear of them and Susie having gotten together and with her becoming the SixthRanger, there's a good chance she'll finally manage to confess to Susie.]]

* JerkassWoobie: Susie is an overly antagonistic bully towards almost everyone who isn't Kris and she can even be a real pill to Kris when the two of them are alone. But underneath all that posturing and unpleasantness lies a lonely girl who is so scared of being rejected that she decided just not to try to make friends at all. Apart from that, she's also so convinced that she is a horrible person that she just can't believe Noelle, a genuine NiceGirl. would ever be interested in someone like her.

* JerkassWoobie: Susie is an overly antagonistic bully towards almost everyone who isn't Kris and she can even be a real pill to Kris when the two of them are alone. But underneath all that posturing and unpleasantness lies a lonely girl who is so scared of being rejected that she decided just not to try to make friends at all. Apart from that, she's also so convinced that she is a horrible person that she just can't believe Noelle, a genuine NiceGirl would ever be interested in someone like her.

Oh, and they're regularly possessed by a mysterious entity against their will and have no way of telling anyone about it.]]
