* FairForItsDay: The film's portrayal of the Inuk and their culture [[NobleSavage is rather patronizing]] and not at all an accurate display to what 1920's life was like for them (which wasn't all that different from non-native life in the 1920's). That said, this film was one of the first positive representations of any indigenous Americans in film. On top of using actual indigenous people to portray Nanook and his family, instead of using BrownFace, as was common at the period.

* FairForItsDay: The film's portrayal of the Inuk and their culture is still rather patronizing, and isn't accurate to what 1920's life was like for them. That said, the representation of actual indigenous Americans, let alone portrayed in a positive light, was a rather big leap forward in changing the general public's view of them.
