** In the storybook adaptation ''The Great Princess Caper'', which was written by Mike Vogel, one of the screenwriters, Tempest and Grubber leave Canterlot to spread friendship over Equestria and beyond. That, and the fact that they are both voiced by Hollywood stalwarts (not to mention Blunt will most likely be doing reshoots of the upcoming Mary Poppins sequel in London) means we shouldn't expect to see them on the show anytime soon.

* HePannedItNowHeSucks: an IGN journalist got a lot of backlash for giving the film a 3.5 [[note]]For comparison, that's a lower score than the heavily-panned ''[[WesternAnimation/TheEmojiMovie Emoji Movie]]'' that was released a few months prior, which got a 4.5[[/note]], with many accusing them of focusing too much on trivial details and inaccurately representing the show that the film was based on, despite claims to have seen the series before. Given the existence of [[UnderwaterCity Seaquestria]] and its significance to the plot, jokes about "[[VideoGame/PokemonRubyAndSapphire too much water]]" were inevitable.

** After Verko puts Capper in deep dept and almost has the Mane Six and Spike sold, being zapped by Tempest when he tried to be mockingly cute on her is both cathartic and hilarious.

Or did she realize that as the strongest princess, she'd be the easiest target, and was pulling a HeroicSacrifice in the hopes that Luna and Twilight would be able to get to safety?]]

** The Equestrian Royal Guards aren't even around to defend Canterlot, only briefly appearing in the credits. Their valiant but futile attempt at fighting off the Storm Guards could've added a much more dramatic effect to the invasion scene and let Twilight Sparkle realize how much higher the stakes are. Their absence is even more conspicuous considering one of their members, Shining Armor, is Twilight's brother and the husband of Cadence.

** The Equestrian Royal Guards aren't even around to defend Canterlot, only briefly appearing in the credits. Their valiant but futile attempt at fighting off the Storm Guards could've added a much more dramatic effect to the invasion scene and let Twilight Sparkle realize how much higher the stakes are.

** The fact that the film stars Uzo Aduba is pretty amusing if you know or was involved in the whole fallout between bronies and the ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'' fandom around early 2015 [[note]]Aduba had a role on the latter show as a former Crystal Gem named Bismuth[[/note]].
** The Fan Song "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ia2aoTYY9PI Open Your Eyes]]" was made ''four years'' before "Open Up Your Eyes" was even a concept.
** The Storm King's ineptitude. After "Shadow Play," [[spoiler: this was seemingly lessened due to The Pony of Shadows being seen as even more of a disappointment by comparison; at least The Storm King was still able to get a NearVillainVictory, whereas The Pony of Shadows never once had the advantage. That, and he didn't have the benefit of being LaughablyEvil like the Storm King.]]
*** And then ''both'' of them got off the hook after "The Ending of the End", as [[spoiler:at least the Storm King and Pony of Shadows were actually confronted and defeated after their respective self-contained arcs whereas Grogar, whose presence as a villain was built up since the beginning of season 9, turned out to be a RedHerring and was revealed to be a well-meaning [[TricksterMentor Discord]] after the villains he recruited turned on him. In other words, at least the Storm King and the Pony of Shadows ''were actually present''.]]
** In ''VideoGame/MyLittlePonyFightingIsMagic'', one of Pinkie Pie's Super Arts involves her throwing cupcakes. Fast forward to 2017...
** One of the songs for the movie's soundtrack was a Music/RachelPlatten [[CoverVersion cover]] of ''Series/TheGoldenGirls'' ThemeSong, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAwuFfEvBD0 "Thank You for Being a Friend"]]. In Season 8, there would be [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS8E5GranniesGoneWild an episode with a very ''Golden Girls"-esque plotline]] and even a ShoutOut to said show.

** What is Tempest Shadow's cutie mark? The fandom has variously depicted it as (1) the Storm King's logo; (2) nothing, she's a blank flank;[[note]]which would explain why, in her subsequent appearances in the [[ComicBook/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicIDW IDW comic]], she still keeps her flank covered despite having gotten rid of her Storm King armor[[/note]] (3) fireworks; or (4) an ice cream float, like [[spoiler:the G3 pony Fizzy Pop, whom she was named after.]]
