Misuse of Narm, this doesn't explain why having so many plot twists in a row is funny, just that it feels abrupt.

* {{Narm}}: The way the movie handles the big twists can be this, due to how abrupt they come about. The first twist is [[spoiler:that David hired what he thought were actors pretending to be villains so he could steal back a Quirk enhancement device he made so he could give it to All Might.]] The second twist is [[spoiler:that the villains are legitimate and Sam planned on double crossing David by selling it to the leader, Wolfram, because [[ItsAllAboutMe he felt cheated by David for not letting him make money off it]].]] The ''[[RuleOfThree third]]'' twist is [[spoiler:that Wolfram had no intention of honoring their agreement and proceed to [[RewardedAsATraitorDeserves shoot Sam]] and kidnap David so he can mass-produce them and make a fortune.]] These all happen within only a few seconds of each other, leaving it a bit awkward when reflected on by the viewer due to the GambitPileup. The only twist that doesn't feel this abrupt, is the last twist. [[spoiler: That Wolfram was reached out to by All For One when he learned they planned on working with All Might's old friend, and gave Wolfram a second Quirk and his support solely [[ForTheEvulz to cause All Might misery]]]].

The scene's context is explained and just because something may be a moment of awesome doesn't mean that it can't be a signature scene as well.

Zero Context Example. Looks like a misplaced Moment Of Awesome example,

Requires Word Of God confirmation

* AuthorsSavingThrow:
** Mineta's perverted antics have been considerably toned down, alongside the movie using fanservice less for gags.
** An odd example in regards to the soundtrack. The anime's famous "You Say Run" was fizzled out after Season 2, leaving many feeling that the iconic song would fall to the wayside despite being one of the most beloved tracks in the anime. [[spoiler: The movie makes it return in a spectacular fashion as the theme for the final battle.]]

* FridgeBrilliance: When he was first seen, many assumed that David Shield was the Batman to All Might's Superman. But that's Aizawa's position. Upon viewing the movie and seeing David's full character, however- he ''isn't'' Batman. He's '''Lex Luthor'''. He's an old friend of the setting's SupermanSubstitute to the point where their relationship is full of HoYay, he's an [[WorldsSmartestMan unparalleled genius]] who thinks he knows better than everyone else, he's the ManBehindTheMan for the movie's villains (though for ultimately [[WellIntentionedExtremist altruistic reasons]]), and he knows that society relies on that SupermanSubstitute too much. The difference is that while Lex decides to destroy Superman out of jealousy, David does everything he can to support All Might so that society won't collapse when he disappears.

Moving to English title.

* AndYouThoughtItWouldFail: A variation, in that nobody expected it to be negatively received or even sell outright bad, but considering it was an anime movie that was not from ''Franchise/DragonBall'', it was expected to sell well, but not very well. Instead it quickly jumped to outselling other movies in the month, and is currently the third most successful movie ''Creator/{{Funimation}}'' has ever dubbed, making it one of the most successful movies in the month of its release. To put it in perspective, it came out the same month as ''Film/ThePredator'', which it managed to beat with ease, and quickly made over a million in spite of the limited releases.

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Godzillo has been getting a lot of attention despite only being a cameo, mostly for being a very obvious ShoutOut to Franchise/{{Godzilla}}.
* HoYay:
** Bakugo and Kirishima have a lot of scenes together, even sharing a hotel room with one bed. Kirishima even buys Bakugo a suit and tie for the party [[FlowersOfRomance with roses on them,]] and Bakugo wears them, even though he hates ties.
** There's quite a bit of this between All Might and David Shield; the two of them were shown to be pretty close back when All Might lived in America, even to the point of having nicknames for each other, and that hasn't changed much in the present day. David is also shown to be greatly concerned about All Might's power fading, [[spoiler:so much so that the entire conflict of the film is brought about because he wants to restore All Might's Quirk to its former glory]].

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: A good chunk of the promotional material proclaimed that it would go into All Might's backstory. In the movie proper, it's only briefly touched upon in the opening scene and when he and David reminisce about how they met and became partners.
