It doesn't help that the arc that explains a change in Shigaraki's behavior is ''at the end'' of the 5th season]]. This one is even worse for anime-only fans, since the [[Recap/MyHeroAcademiaMetaLiberationArmyArc Meta Liberation Army Arc]] is adapted after the [[MyHeroAcademiaEndeavorInternArc Endeavor Intern Arc]].

* Narm: The scene where Deku smiles just because Katsuma is safe, even though he was never in any real danger and was merely hiding, can come off as cheesy and cringy.

* EvilIsSexy: Nine gets some of this for having [[{{Bishonen}} fine features and smooth hair]]. He also gets to reveal his [[ShirtlessScene muscular build]] in the final battle.

* [[BigBad Nine]] is a cold and calculating terrorist who attempts to cure his disease using a Cell Activation Quirk in order to create a strong world, targeting the island of Nabu to get the quirk off of Katsuma Shimano. A perceptive and capable leader, he cuts off access to the mainland as he has his men go and create chaos while he finds the kids. Showing himself to be capable of thinking on the spot, Nine misdirects and uses his [[PowerParasite multiple quirks to his advantage]] to block and get away when the situation calls for it. During the final battle, [[NearVillainVictory despite Class 1A's strengths, Nine easily storms through most of them with ease]], and is only defeated once Deku shares One For All with Bakugo. Nine shows even in the face of death at the hands of Tomura Shigaraki [[DefiantToTheEnd to not give up in persisting his goals and still attempts to go back and fight]].

* EvilIsCool: Nine tends to be considered the best villain to come from the movies, thanks to having multiple different Quirks, an interesting SocialDarwinist ideology, and what many consider to be one of the best fights in the entire franchise.

* FridgeLogic: Why aren’t Bakugo’s arms shattered to powder by the backlash of One For All? Because he’s already been getting hit with the backlash from Explosion for years. He probably has far [[RequiredSecondaryPowers more tolerance for concussive force]] than Deku began with.

* ContinuityLockOut: A moderate case. If you're an anime-only watcher, you'll likely have no idea who Hawks is, or who those characters in [[spoiler: One For All are or how Deku is aware of them]] with the obvious exception of [[spoiler: Nana Shimura.]] Also Deku is shown using his Air Force Gloves, which hadn't been introduced in the anime yet. You'll also be thrown off when Nine casually mentions how [[spoiler: Deku has the capacity for multiple quirks before and after attempting to steal OFA.]]

* Chimera’s comments to Shoji about his appearance being ugly, and how he must have been bullied growing up, and blamed his parents. As revealed in Chapter 371, [[spoiler:he wears a mask because his face is scarred from being attacked by a mob for his looks after saving a child, and he doesn’t want people to see them and think he’s driven by revenge. Rather than let anger consume him, he strives to be a Hero and set an example for people to rise above hatred]].

* EvilIsSexy: Nine gets some of this for having [[{{Bishonen}} fine features and smooth hair]]. He also gets to reveal his [[ShirtlessScene rather muscular build]] in the final battle.

** The prelude features a car chase between the Pro Heroes and the League of Villains (or more accurately, their clones, thanks to Twice). Special mention goes to a brief clash between Endeavor and Dabi; [[spoiler: they had already met in Chapter 191 after Endeavor was badly scarred following his battle against a High-End Nomu, which he has in this movie. Fast forward to Chapter 290 and Dabi reveals himself to be his long-lost eldest son and Shoto's older brother, Toya Todoroki.]]

* HarsherInHindsight: Chapter 304 of the manga reveals a dangerous secret about One For All: [[spoiler:It gradually depletes the life force of its wielders. Only Quirkless wielders like All Might and Izuku are immune to this drawback. This means Midoriya ended up unintentionally endangering Bakugo's life by passing it on to him in the climax. Luckily for Bakugo, it turns out the ability didn't transfer all the way and not only did Midoriya retain One For All, but Bakugo [[AssPull conveniently]] lost both One For All and his memories of the moment.]]
