In the original book, Shere Khan actually managed to get a few young members of the pack on his side by sharing his food with them and later rallies them against Akela. Shere Khan’s influence on the pack could have been further shown by manipulating Mowgli’s brothers (who passionately hate the boy) to side with him to get rid of Akela and Mowgli. However, all three of them have very minimal attention and could be taken out of the story with little to nothing changing.
