Also, in chapter 16, the thunder god also threatens to kill every Edenian refugee (including women and children) if an Edenian messenger doesn't reveal Rain's location. By this time, Scorpion also realizes that Raiden was using him as a tool when the thunder god threatens to do the same thing to Takeda as he did with Cassie and Kevin, and pulls a HeelFaceTurn for this reason. The thunder god then proceeds to behead the fallen Elder God Shinnok and threaten the new rulers of the Netherrealm (Liu Kang and Kitana) with a similar FateWorseThanDeath; Raiden later goes on to invade Outworld with the Shirai Ryu until Kotal Kahn invokes Mortal Kombat, forcing Raiden to withdraw and come up with a plan B to destroy Outworld; the Outworld emperor is now forced to work with groups and individuals that would not support Raiden's actions. Raiden then kidnaps Cassie to ensure that her parents (Johnny Cage and Sonya) will not stop him from invading Outworld, and is called out by his now-former allies for thinking about such a plan. The thunder god then offers Sub-Zero to work with him and destroy Outworld, but when the Lin Kuei grandmaster and his protege Frost say no, Raiden gleefully crosses the MoralEventHorizon below by mass-zapping Sub-Zero and the Lin Kuei - Sub-Zero ends up in a comatose state while Frost is paralyzed, and the remaining Lin Kuei also end up in a similar situation. By this time, anybody would realize that Raiden is now a deranged MadGod and an AxCrazy [[TheSociopath sociopath]] who has no qualms about killing or injuring his enemies. Later on, he tortures Cassie just for questioning his deeds, but despite this, she even calls him a cold-blooded monster who's really lost his moral compass, and gleefully tortures Kevin (Kano's son) when Cassie begs Raiden to stop. Also, in chapter 16, the thunder god also threatens to kill every Edenian refugee (including women and children) if an Edenian messenger doesn't reveal Rain's location. By this time, Scorpion also realizes that Raiden was using him as a tool when the thunder god threatens to do the same thing to Takeda as he did with Cassie and Kevin, and pulls a HeelFaceTurn for this reason. By the time chapter 22 comes by, anybody could see how Raiden has become a sociopathic monster who wants to [[OmnicidalManiac incite Armageddon]] [[ItsAllAboutMe for his own selfish gains]] [[KnightTemplar just so he could better]] [[UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans "protect" Earthrealm from external threats]].
