*** Equally funny is the fact that characters from ''other Gundam series'' are shown ragging on Kamille. Specifically Domon Kasshu of ''GGundam'', who demands during their CombinationAttack, "Are you ''MAN ENOUGH?'' KAMILLE?!"

** Reccoa: [[spoiler: Did she [[FaceHeelTurn go to the Titans]] because of Scirocco pulling some kind of Newtype power on her? (Scirocco demonstrates in the finale that he ''can'' mind rape people.) Or is she really a [[BloodKnight "combat junkie"]] who felt spurred by not getting more combat missions, and went to the Titans to handle her addiction instead? (She ''did'' admitt to Kamille the "combat junkie" bit)]] Or was that bit of both? [[spoiler: One time, she flew for an enemy ship looking for Scirocco, and she acted like she was on drugs and confused.]] Up to the watcher.

* YourMileageMayVary (People either see this as the best Gundam series ever, due to its brutal depiction of warfare in which even main characters can die and dark moody atmosphere, or one of the worst Gundam series, with an incredibly unsympathetic and unlikable cast who make ''VERY'' stupid decisions and slap each other for no reason at all, and a nihilistic downer ending where everyone dies and accomplishes nothing.)
** The random [[{{Narm}} near-comedy moments]] that keep going all the way up through some of the final episodes ''really'' don't help all that much, either.
** Tomino does this a lot, really, especially when it comes to characters. The fact that a lot of people in Tomino shows make stupid decisions and have been known to outright lie about their motivations tends to be seen as either brilliant characterization that makes these people seem complex and forces you to really think to get inside their heads... or else you can see the characters as just stupid and inconsistent.

* MemeticMolester: Yazan "I'M GONNA VIOLATE YOU" Gable. There's also the early episode where he checked how [[IfYouKnowWhatIMean "excited"]] rookie pilot Adol was about their mission. With his hand.

* {{Narm}}: YourMileageMayVary on certain aspects but at the end of "Half Moon Love" Kamille's contorting and tortured face, after realizing Sarah had escaped, makes him look like a stoner.

* EnsembleDarkhorse Apolly, to an extent. He had by far the most character of the minor cast and [[spoiler: he almost made it to the end despite being a Mook Rick Dias pilot, only dying because he was protecting Fa.]] Almost everyone who watched the show likes him, but it really didn't come apparent until him and the other minor Z Gundam pilots were removed in the SuperRobotWars games to make room for the GundamZZ pilots. Thankfully, him and Roberto help represent ZetaGundam in SRW Z and ''[[SuperRobotWars64 SRW 64]]'' as well.

* AmbiguousDisorder: Camille and Scirocco.

* MoralEventHorizon: Bosque crosses this in the 3rd episode [[spoiler: by tricking Jerid into executing Kamille's mother Hilda]] and somehow only gets worse further on. [[spoiler: Reccoa]] has hers when she gasses a civilian colony and Jerid arguably has one when he kills a defenseless [[spoiler: Apolly]] for no reason.

* AmbiguouslyAutistic: Camille and Scirocco.

** [[spoiler:Char]]/Quatro: Complete jerk ass who is ready to lie and try to bed [[spoiler: Reccoa...maybe]] just for fun or is he a perfectly human character that can be charismatic to many people but is useless one-on-one when it comes to stuff aside from combat.
** Jerid: An anti-Char, blonde hair, likes red, instead of [[spoiler: becoming the big bad/main antagonist of the show is killed rather quickly in the penultimate episode after appearing less frequently.]] Or was he supposed to be a joke-rival from the start who scored a few lucky wins early on? [[spoiler: Though he did ascended rather quickly, even working right next to Jamitov, and though he failed to kill Kamille he did survive numerous fights with him for a long time. You can't promote pilots who die can you?]]
** Reccoa: [[spoiler: Did she crossover to the Titans because of Scirocco's pulling some kind of Newtype power on her? Scirocco demonstrates in the finale that he can mind rape people. Or is she really like a combat junkie who felt spurred by not getting more combat missions and went to the Titans to handle her addiction instead, she admitted to Kamille she is a junkie like that. Or a bit of both? One time she flew for an enemy ship looking for Scirocco and she acted like she was on drugs and confused.]] Up to the watcher.
** Scirocco: [[spoiler: Is he manipulating women and seizing power for his own profit, or is he acting out of more DarkMessiah motives? His speech in the final episode hints heavily at the latter... but as numerous characters comment, Scirocco can't really be predicted at all and even twenty years later, his motives are still shrouded in mystery.]]

*** Does his stated desire to create a world ruled by a woman stem from a belief that they're less warlike, or a desire to be [[TheManBehindTheMan The Man Behind The Woman]], considering the fact that he's a glorified pickup artist who finds them easy to manipulate?

Also fans found the fact that GentleGiant Henkin having a crush on ActionGirl Emma was adorable.
