* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Is Akko really as much of an IdiotHero as the franchise tends to treat her as being? While Akko isn't neccessarily on par with Diana, there are potential hints that she isn't as dumb as she appears. She is shown to be very fluent in English, which only a small percentage of Japanese citizens can speakonly 30% percent of Japanese can speak English, let alone fluentlyonly 10% of Japanese can speak it fluently, she was able to pass Pisces' class (even if it was done in an unorthodox way) with a pretty good B grade in the TV series (Pisce's class is one of the more advanced classes should we mention) and has developed the ability to understand and speak to fish because of it. Also, while her magic was lacking at the start, once she gets it drilled into her head that she needs to study, her magic quickly improves, as she was able to master metamorphosis magic by the end of the series, can use the Shiny Rod's magic at will (which is stated to be incredibly powerful) and in Chamber of Time, she can use magic no problems in the dungeons. She is also very creative to boot, with most of her plans succeeding in spite of the odds against them (such as the Happy Time Project in Enchanted Parade and the Samhain Festival performance in the TV series). If anything, most of Akko's problems early on come less from her being "dumb" and more from her being a lazy and troublemaking student who was not taking her studies seriously (which to her credit, she improves upon over time), her lacking the ability to use magic at all early on , and the fact that nobody really wants to help Akko and/or give her a real chance to succeed (outside of Ursula) because of how different she is (something Ursula outright calls Finnelan out on in the TV series).

** While the show's Queer and Yuri fandom aren't that interested in exploring the functionings of the all-male Appleton Academy, the vocal part of the fandom that ships Andrew/Akko, Frank/Lotte and the very rare Louis/Amanda fans like explore the dynamics of the school. Commonly, Frank is shown as an outlier for liking magic, Andrew is respected but is on the fence for just finding magic "boring" while Louis tends to lead the anti-magic faction before turning a new leaf thanks to Amanda. This practically became AscendedFanon with the Fountain Of Polaris arc being covered in the manga with a PerspectiveFlip for Andrew, which showed what he was doing in Appleton before visiting Luna Nova, and revealed the dynamic of the boys to be akin to this fanon.

* Fanon:
** A less common fanon is that Diana, and by extension the Cavendish family, is actually Scottish, due to the Cavendish Manor being located in Wedinburgh, which is one letter away from Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It helps that the producers don't exactly deny this being the case.
** While Sucy is confirmed to come from Southeast Asia, unlike the other characters, it's unknown as to which country she comes from, as official profiles merely list her as coming from the subregion with no specific country mentioned. However, fans have interpreted Sucy as being from the Philippines, due to a few hints that possibly points to her coming from there (one of which being her personal broom in the first episode of the series, which is a Walis Tambo, a broom commonly used in Filipino households).
** While their sexualities in the franchise are not made explicit in canon due to NoHuggingNoKissing being in effect, Diana and Amanda are often always portrayed as lesbians in fanworks. The former due to being AmbiguouslyGay in canon thanks to her LesYay with Akko and the latter due to her butch looks and rebellious attitude, which has made her popular amongst the LGBTFanbase. Chariot/Ursula also gets this since there aren't even any males she has deeply interacted with for people to ship her with, combined with the LesYay she had with Croix in the TV series. While a (very) fringe portion of the fandom ships Andrew/Diana or Louis/Amanda, to be blunt, it's almost always Rule34 when those three are shown with a male.
** Due to her fangs and extremely pale skintone, Sucy is often depicted as secretly being a HalfHumanHybrid in fanworks. What her other half is exactly tends to vary across fans, though one of the most popular and reoccurring ones is that she's half-dragon, due to the aforementioned fangs and her repressed self transforming into a dragon in episode 8.
** In fanworks where Akko and Diana end up having children, their fan-child or at least one of their children will most likely be named "Bernadette" after the latter's late mother. Alternatively, if they end up getting multiple kids, it's common for them to be given both Japanese and English names, with those having a closer relation to Akko having a Japanese name and those closer to Diana having an English name.
** It’s not uncommon for the Cavendish family to be depicted as a only female family, with some even going as far as to depict them as using magic to reproduce, particularly due to the only confirmed members being female and all of them looking alike. This is in spite of Diana mentioning to Akko that her family has a long linage of both female witches and male wizards in The Enchanted Parade.
** In a kind of double TranslationConvention, some like to perceive everyone speaking with American accents in the English dub as Akko having a terrible ear for accents and being unable to distinguish everyone else's from the American accent she learned the language in.
** Night patrolling, in which certain students are tasked with monitoring the hallways at night and make sure students are in their rooms, is an incredibly prevalent concept in fanworks, especially in shipping ones as it allows the pair in question to meet under more discreet conditions than normal. However, the idea of students monitoring the hallways is only really a thing in fanon as there are no implications that such an idea exists in canonthere is a scene in The Enchanted Parade in which Diana confronts a forelorn Akko at night, which is actually where the concept orignated from, but it's not clear in the film if she was patrolling or coming back from somewhere as she was flying prior to the confrontation, as official works usually has the Luna Nova staff and teachers like Finnelan watch the hallways at night instead of the students, with Keisuke Satō's manga revealing the school has a full blown security system in place.
** Woodward and Beatrix are occasionally depicted as being a ShipperOnDeck for Chariot/Croix and Diana/Akko respectively in fanon.
** Akko, based on her frequent attempts at flying even before attending Luna Nova, is often seen as being in better physical shape than most of the other little witches.
** While it's vague in canon on whether or not Diana and Andrew are related, fans tend to frequently theorize them as being distant cousins.
** The Akko dons in The Enchanted Parade is typically interpreted as being her performer outfit in TimeSkip fanfics.
** It is incredibly common for fanworks to depict Diana as being unfamiliar and HopelessWithTech, on top of being poor at non-magic related tasks (such as cooking without magic), due to her traditionalist nature and reliance on magic. This is largely done as a way to give her more flaws, as well as to have another form of contrast between her and Akko, with Akko usually being depicted as being good at non-magic related tasks, due to her muggle background.

The fact that it never got a Western release, despite the series being more popular there than in Japan and the fact that it appears to take place in its own universe, may have contributed to the surprise of Andrew's role.

* SpiritualSuccessor: Of Anime/TweenyWitches, since the premise of both series is basically the same: a young GenkiGirl human loving magic so much she wants to become a witch herself, to the point she ends up living with actual witches who at first they don't trust her because she goes against tradition.

* AngstWhatAngst: Chapter 3 has the infamous "nice rump" scene where the con man takes an opportunity to grab Diana's butt and proceeds to taunt her about it, which she understandably didn't take well. Yet, after the con man has been dealt with, Diana doesn't seem at all distressed by the fact that she was violated by a DirtyOldMan.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment:
** The aforementioned infamous "nice rump" scene in the third chapter in which Diana gets sexually harassed by the (very old) con man, which was then completely forgotten about afterward. The fact that the manga played it for laughs is an entirely different matter... It doesn't help that the scene is incredibly jarring and out of place even within the manga, which is otherwise lighthearted and mostly on par with the rest of the franchise.
** The fifth chapter has Akko picking up and sniffing a poisonous mushroom, resulting in her going into a MushroomSamba. The whole incident is just an excuse to make Akko lose her fishing rod, and wasn't mentioned again afterward.
* EnsembleDarkHorse: Ms. Manbavaran is incredibly popular amongst the fandom, for obivous reasons.
* Fanon: There's no official word that states that the manga is a Prequel to the short films or that it's even in the same continuity as them, however the fact that it was released in close proximity to the short films and that the first chapter shows off Akko's first day at Luna Nova and her first encounters with her friends and Diana/Hannah/Barbara (something the first film skips over), on top of the Shiny Rod being limited to flashbacks has led fans to place it as such.
* NeverLiveItDown: Thanks to the infamous "Nice rump" scene in the third chapter, this manga is forever remembered by the LWA fandom as "the one where Diana gets groped".

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Was Mirage really a BitchInSheepsClothing or was it actually an act she put on as part of . Her reaction towards Akko winning suggests that it’s possibly the latter.
* AuthorsSavingThrow: A common criticism thrown at the TV series from fans was how little the rest of the supporting cast has received compared to Akko, Diana, Chariot and Croix (particularly in the second half). The manga somewhat makes up for this by dedicating most of its original stories to expanding upon and exploring the main supporting cast more in depth, on top of touching upon the backstories of Amanda, Jasminka and Sucy, which the series wasn't able to do due to time constraints.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt: A lot of the art by Keisuke Satō is simply wonderful to look at and does a great job translating the artstyle of the franchise into a non-animated form.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: At one point, Akko was shrunken by a magical trap when trying to secretly return the answer sheet that Amanda stole from the faculty. Not too long after that, she gets chased by a cockroach who in turn is chased by two fairy workers who want to squash it. Then a third fairy worker shows up all of a sudden and literally eats the cockroach, causing the first two to express their disgust at the sight. This whole incident involving the cockroach isn't mentioned again.
* LesYay:
** One page of Chapter 3 has Diana become downright dazzled by Akko during a volleyball match.
** In Chapter 17, after being saved by her, Akko becomes incredibly concerned about Diana (due to being ill prior) that in a way, sounds like a concerned lover.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Outside of Mirage, the witches that compete against Luna Nova in the last 3 chapters barely receive much screen time or focus, despite their fun designs and personalities.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: The first few pages of Chapter 5 features Akko having to work a part time job as a maid for the school since her allowance got cut due to her poor grades, which knowing Akko, could have led to much HilarityEnsues, especially since one of the rooms she cleans belongs to none other than Diana. However, after a few pages, the plot quickly shifts from it to Akko instead finding a birthday gift for Sucy and Akko's maid job never gets brought up again afterwards.

* HilariousInHindsight:
** At one point in Chapter 3, Sucy gives Akko bunny features in order to gain an advantage over the competitors. Funny enough, a couple of years later in the TV series, Akko would also accidentally gain bunny features due to a magic mishap.
** Akko also ends up shrinking and gaining mouse features at a later point in the same chapter as well, preceeding the mouse form she gets a couple of years in the TV series.
* OlderThanTheyThink:
** While not exactly the same design (as it's merely a humanoid Akko shrunkened down and with mouse features), the manga is technically the first appearance of Akko's mouse form, preceeding the TV series by a couple of years.
** This is the first time Diana is portrayed in a nicer light, a couple of years before the TV series would do the same thing with its portrayal of Diana.

** Lotte's last name isn't "Yanson", but rather, it's officially written as "Jansson". Though given the pronunciation of the word makes it sound like Yanson, this is an common and understandable error.

** Despite it being a common belief amongst fans, Akko is not the first, nor the only muggle in Luna Nova, as WordOfGod has confirmed that there are other witches besides her in the school that come from non-magical households during one of the 4chan AMAs, they're just simply not shown.

* DracoInLeatherPants:
** Although Diana does have a good heart, she is still largely a snobbish, haughty and cold AcademicAlphaBitch who is frequently a Jerkass towards Akko outside of the very brief PetTheDog moment. Even in the TV series, where she is slightly nicer compared to the films, she is still largely portrayed as a snobbish jerk towards Akko until she warms up to her in the last five episodes of the series (and even then, she is still a Tsundere towards Akko, as the ending of episode 20 shows). However, many fans (especially shippers) tend to frequently downplay or outright ignore her snobbier and jerkier sides in fan-works in favor of making her far more outwardly caring, warm and affectionate compared to how she is in canon.
** Thanks to the series establishing Barbara as being a ClosetGeek of Night Fall who hides her obsession out of fear of rejection, it has become common to portray Barbara as being the better and more sympathetic one of the Hannah and Barbara duo in fan works. This is in spite of Barbara being just as much of a haughty bully as Hannah is in canon.
