* TheyCopiedItSoItSucks: This work has received many accusations from fans of ''Manga/{{Kaiji}}'' because of the alleged rip-off only on the grounds that both works have TheGamblingAddict as the main setting and studying of human psychology. Though for the manga readers, this applies more to ''Manga/GambleFish'', due to their similarities in high school setting and gambling.

* SugarWiki/SheReallyCanAct: Participation in this anime markedly raised respect for Creator/SaoriHayami as a VoiceActor, as she demonstrated her talent when she is PlayingAgainstType, with sharp changes in the character's voice in contrast to her traditionally somewhat monotonous TypeCasting.

* HypeBacklash: The anime adaptation started off with a considerable amount of hype where despite being locked in "Netflix Jail" it, along with ''Manga/MadeInAbyss'' was one of the most talked-about series of the Summer 2017 anime season. Over the course of the season, however, this gave way to criticism of the actual gambles being lackluster and formulaic which led to unflattering comparisons to [[TheyCopiedItSoItSucks other gambling-themed series]] as listed below. Not helping matters is that the first season rather baffling went for an Anime Original ending that proved to be rather lackluster. And then the second season seemingly redirected the path of the story back to the canon material of the manga, it quickly diverged into ''another'' Anime Original ending, this one even less well-received than the first.

** Most of the emotional reactions of Yumeko, such as the scene in the second episode where she grabs her own crotch and begins to sweat profusely, biting her finger after thinking about the awful state of the school.
** In the same episode, Ryota suddenly freezes with a face that resembles an orgasm while he tries to memorize the cards.
** Creator/SaoriHayami saying "you piece of shit" in the third episode.

** Yumeko gets an incredibly hammy orgasm-like reaction after Suzui gives her his support and takes the game in episode 12 into her own hands.
** In the anime, having Yumemite be defeated by Sumika singing something as cliche as [[Main/AmazingFreakingGrace Amazing Grace]] (a genre of song that's not particularly in her voice actress / singer Creator/AyahiTakagaki's wheelhouse either) comes off as more ridiculous than showing off Sumika's "superior" singing skills.

* CreatorsPet: The live action writers ''really'' like Jun Kitawari and/or his actor,
Yuma Yamoto: not only does he appear in various episodes prior to the arc he actually plays a major role in, he's also given a major role in the first film (the light novel it is based on does not feature the character), and has cameos in both the adaptation of ''Kakegurui Twin'' and the second movie.

** First of all with the fans of ''LightNovel/TheIrregularAtMagicHighSchool'', who view Yumeko as the EvilTwin of Miyuki because of their very similar appearance and having Creator/SaoriHayami as common VoiceActor, but fully opposite personalities. Similar settings in the form of an ElaborateUniversityHigh and GreyAndGrayMorality, also helps this.

** Creator/SaoriHayami as an AxCrazy LargeHam MsFanservice girl. This is such a strong contrast with her standard NiceGirl roles, that it's very hard to watch seriously. Moreover, this is only doubled because of Jabami's external resemblance to Saori's other [[LightNovel/TheIrregularAtMagicHighSchool ojou]] heroine, which is why for some viewers she looks like a crazy version of Miyuki Shiba.

* BrokenBase: The Sentai Filmworks dub. Some people think that it’s an interesting idea to compare it to the Netflix dub. Others think that it’s unnecessary.

* {{OT3}}: While not as popular due to the fandom's rampant preference for [[YuriGenre Yuri]] couples, some people do try to fit Suzui in the Mary/Yumeko ship.

* UnnecessaryMakeover: Some felt that [[spoiler:Rei's more feminine appearance]] in the final episode of the second season was this, compared to her uniquely androgynous look before.
* VanillaProtagonist: Suzui, given that he has a generic background and played as TheWatson in the group. Which makes him less interesting as the other characters (doesn't help that in the manga he played a supporting role in the games he participated).

* FanPreferredCouple: Thanks to the huge amount of ShipTease and FoeYayShipping between Saotome and Jabami, not to mention the fact that they are both the main characters of this work, most fans want to see them together.

* UncannyValley: Kawaru Natari, the Japanese Hollywood star introduced in chapter 50, looks a bit less like a human than anyone else in the manga, even for the floating art style. She looks more like a porcelain doll than a human, specially her eyes, which are drawn in a different style than everyone else's, even when the art is still in it's "standard manga art" mode.

* VanillaProtagonist: Suzui, given that he has a generic background and played as TheWatson in the group. Which makes him less interesting as the other characters (doesn't help that in the manga he played a supporting role in the games he participated).
* WhatAnIdiot: Near the end of the 100 Votes Auction game, the game shifts into Rei's disfavor as, due to Yumeko Jabami's tactic, the participants stop competing with each other, allowing each other to buy 100 votes from Rei with 1 vote. Rei can explicitely quit the game.\\
