* FanPreferredCouple: While Yagami has a variety of options when it comes to potential girlfriends, many prefer to pair him with Kaito instead when it comes to Judgment's shipping front.

*** Ass Catchem. In case the name wasn't an obvious enough ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'' reference (or possibly a ''[[VideoGame/TheKingOfFighters King of Fighters]]'' reference since another [[SarcasmMode "affectionate"]] nickname for [[Characters/TheKingOfFightersAshCrimson Ash]] [[DudeLooksLikeALady Crimson]] from the ''KOF'' community is 'Ass Crimson'), there's the fact that he's a track star that, like the Panty Professor mentioned above, gets off on groping women and becomes more powerful in doing so. Take your pick on what's funnier - the fact that Yagami has to chase after him or the fact that he ends up mistaking one of your clients' [[DudeLooksLikeALady twin brother]] for a woman.

* EvilIsSexy: [[spoiler:Deluded psychopath he may be, Kuroiwa is quite handsome. Ayabe points it out InUniverse.]]

* Narm: While Yakuza is known for ridiculous violence, Yagami can nearly decapitate Kaito in their firendly match in a heat fuction by pushing his head to the street.

*** And finally Judge Creep 'n Peep. Essentially a voyeuristic ''Franchise/SpiderMan'' that clings to the sides of buildings to watch people go at it, pull out a drone and shoot at him then he'll start skittering around like a spider the more you do so. Enough said.

* BrokenBase: There's a lot of discourse online about whether or not the [=PlayStation=] 5 and Xbox Series X/S Remasters actually look good. Half of the opposition says the remaster is unnecessary (for the [=PS5=] at least) and that it ruined and spits on the game's stylistic and unique noir look with its washed-out and dull color pallet, while the other half prefers the new color palette.

* {{Woolseyism}}: The names for the game's StanceSystem styles are an invention of the localisation. In Japanese, they were named "Flash" and "Waltz", which have cultural connotations that are difficult to succinctly translate. In English they became "Tiger" and "Crane", which are instantly recognisable as examples of Kung Fu-style [[AnimalThemedFightingStyle Animal Themed Fighting Styles]], and they even get unique HUD icons to match (in Japan, Flash and Waltz were simply represented by their characters).

* AuthorsSavingThrow: While a bit of a minor example, ''Judgment'' restores bosses having a variety of uniquely-colored [[BattleAura Heat Auras]] after the [[VideoGame/Yakuza6 previous]] [[VideoGame/Yakuza2 two]] "Dragon Engine" games had given every single boss the exact same [[RedIsViolent red Heat Aura]] to the dismay of some fans.

** In terms of the many Friends that Yagami can make throughout Kamurocho, there's his {{Hikkikomori}} [[PlayfulHacker Hacker]] friend, Tsukumo. For all intents and purposes, take [[Characters/Persona5ThePhantomThievesOfHeartsSecondHalf Futaba]], give her a SpearCounterpart, take away the DarkAndTroubledPast (and long, orange hair), and you have Tsukumo. In fact, Tsukumo was especially popular enough that he is PromotedToOpeningTitles in ''Lost Judgment'', leading Yokohama 99 (a startup detective agency) alongside the above-mentioned Sugiura.

** Higashi has a lot of fans because of his leitmotif, Flower of Chivalry [[spoiler:and for having a lot of CharacterDevelopment that eventually leads to him joining Yagami, Kaito and Sugiura in battles, including the final battle. It likely played a factor in his inclusion in the sequel.]]

* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: See [[AwesomeMusic/{{Yakuza}} here]].

** Sugiura/Jester is also winding up to be another fan-favorite. Between the homage to ''[[VideoGame/Persona5 Persona 5's]]'' Joker, [[{{Bishonen}} his handsome looks]], having one of the most fun action sequences in the game, and [[LoveableRogue his altruistic]] [[KarmicThief personality]] that lines up well with Yagami's beliefs, it's not difficult to see why he's well-liked in his own right. By ''Lost Judgment'', him and Tsukumo (mentioned below) have even decided to FollowTheLeader and start their own detective agency in Ijincho, Yokohama 99, and with that both of them have reached basically main character status.

** Of the four girlfriends that Yagami can date in this game, Tsukino proved to be the most popular. To the point, she returns in the sequel (as DLC, but still) and is all but confirmed to be the [[OfficialCouple canon choice]] based on their interactions and dialogue. Being voiced by Creator/JulieNathanson (in the English dub) of ''VideoGame/CallOfDutyZombies'' fame and having the voice of Prishe from VideoGame/FinalFantasyXI certainly helps.
* EscapistCharacter: Yagami. Let's see now -- [[PrettyBoy good looks?]] Check. [[BareFistedMonk Can kick plenty of ass?]] Check. [[HardBoiledDetective Damn good at his job as a detective?]] Check. (He's also [[CrusadingLawyer formidable as an attorney, too]].) Manages to become TheDreaded amongst the yakuza underworld [[BadassNormal despite only being a civilian?]] Check. Can date multiple women at once without ever facing any consequences for it (unlike [[VideoGame/Persona5 Joker]] or [[VideoGame/YakuzaLikeADragon Ichiban]])? ''Check.'' Seems like [[Characters/{{Yakuza}} Akiyama's]] got some competition.

* FanNickname: ''Kimutaku ga Gotoku'' [[labelnote:Translation]]''Like Kimutaku''[[/labelnote]] by Japanese gamers as a play on the title ''[[VideoGame/{{Yakuza}} Ryu ga Gotoku]]''.

** To some, Mafuyu can be seen as suffering from this. Throughout the game, we see the ShipTease between her and Yagami and are told that they had ''something'' going before Yagami lost his badge, but aside from that, she doesn't appear all that often aside from a few Side Cases and as an occasional DamselInDistress, and we never really learn the exact details of their relationship prior to the game's events. This is compounded further by the fact that Yagami has the option to go out with up to four different girls, with her not even being one of them despite the aforementioned ShipTease. Doesn't help that she ends up being OutOfFocus in ''VideoGame/LostJudgment'' and the implications that [[ShipSinking Yagami dated one of the aforementioned girlfriends despite things evidently being unresolved between them]].

* FunnyAneurysmMoment: The entire [[DirtyOldMan Twisted Trio's]] actions (Ass Catchem especially) where they all constantly harass Tsukino might not seem all that funny in light of the sequel, where sexual assault is a major theme in the story and is taken completely seriously. Not helping matters is that they return in the sequel and, alongside Giant Impact, ''kidnap'' Tsukino. [[spoiler:Granted, Ehara and Mamiya faked the groping under Kuwana's orders, but it doesn't exactly make this look any better.]]

* RewatchBonus:
** [[spoiler:The identity of the Mole makes sense to the entire game's plot once you know who he is.]]
** [[spoiler:Also learning about Sugiura's real ties to Emi Terasawa will make some of the foreshadowing with him, Emi and Okubo have more sense.]]

* JerksAreWorseThanVillains: Shinitani is hated for his GreenEyedMonster tendencies and thug-like attitude, but his worst crime is being an AmoralAttorney willing to get a clearly shady Yakuza like Hamura off and generally being a {{Jerkass}}. Compare that to the [[EvilIsCool much more popular]] [[SerialKiller Mole]], [[spoiler: [[KillerCop Mitsuru Kuroiwa]]]], who's an active mass murderer who [[spoiler: kills one of Yagami's father figures and goes on a killing spree before the FinalBoss fight against him.]]

** Courtroom sections. You get to experience one relatively early in the game which might lead you to thinking it will be a regular thing, but all in all you only get [[spoiler:two of them]]. Anyone expecting them to work similarly to ''VideoGame/AceAttorney'' might also be in for a disappointment, there are no fail states and they're essentially just there to see how much you've been paying attention to the story, only asking you very simple multiple choice questions.
