* DracoInLeatherPants: Sesshomaru became one, but CharacterDevelopment made him much more sympathetic. Fangirls are usually busy casting stones and villainizing Kagome, Shippo etc. for their lesser crimes while completely overlooking Sesshomaru's deeds, which are undoubtedly much worse than anything those two ever did. Naraku, however, is a DILP through and through.

** Naraku ''big time''. Sesshomaru as mentioned went
through CharacterDevelopment to make him one of the heroes. Naraku had no such development, and through.whatever sympathetic traits he might have are overshadowed the fact he's a CompleteMonster who tortures, manipulates, and tries to kill every member of the main cast several times over.

Added DiffLines:

* {{Fanon}}: Sesshomaru is the Lord of the West, and he has a manor home or castle somewhere with servants and subjects. In the actual series he's a nomad with no home ever shown, he's not the ruler of any land anyway, though he ''is'' a youkai lord, and his only servants are the ones you see with him all the time.

* CompleteMonster: There's a reason for Naraku's ZeroPercentApprovalRating. Also, Shiori's bat demon grandfather. Not to mention Muso/Onigumo, who intimated that he would have raped Kaede if she was fifty years younger... We saw her fifty years ago. She looked to be roughly Rin's age, though that could just be Muso not really being good at telling age on sight.

* CompleteMonster: There's a reason for Naraku's ZeroPercentApprovalRating. Also, He both crossed the Moral Event Horizon and stabbed its crossing guard, well before he even ''was mentioned by name.'' It's essentially easier to name the characters who he has not personally sleighted at some point in the course of the story. [[spoiler:Shippo is the only one that comes to mind.]]

* MotiveDecay: Naraku himself admits once he has the complete jewel, he's not sure what to do with it, largely because all the things he wanted it for, he's mostly managed to do without it. He decides to just use the jewel's power to kill Inuyasha, and since he's spent so long fighting Inuyasha, he admits outright he's not sure what he's gonna do after that. It says something of how long the series runs that the BigBad loses track of exactly ''why'' he's the Big Bad.
** It's a little more complicated than that, since Naraku changes his mental composition so much that his motivation twists around several times throughout the series, though most of it is subconscious. He's made up of a bunch of Youkai that wanted to kill Kikyou and probably wanted to use the jewel to become super powerful like most other random evil youkai in the series and Onigumo, a bloodthirsty bandit who loved Kikyo and wanted to corrupt the jewel out of an apparently aesthetic appreciation for evil. When they fused together, the youkai side was in control and stifled Onigumo's heart, but it still coveted Kikyo, which made her a mostly untouchable super-weapon against him. When they split the first time, Onigumo's heart took the name Muso and hated Naraku for killing Kikyo as much as he hated Inu Yasha for having her love, and Naraku would have been glad to get rid of it if it wasn't vital to his constitution. [[spoiler: After the Mt. Hakurei bit, Naraku manages to successfully split his youkai self, his human heart and his emotions for Kikyou up between himself, his baby detachment and the bundles of white baby-things he left in Mt. Hakurei's base, respectively, and the first two were able to put their all into killing Kikyou, which they prioritized. However, in order to really kill her, he had to take back both the human heart and the emotions he had for her (in order to use them to create his shouki webs). At the end, it wasn't that he didn't know what to wish for as much as his wish wasn't granted at the point that Kagome asked him -- it looked like his final plan was to force Kagome to make a wish that would cause her to be trapped with him (resurrected) forever in the Shikon no Tama, ala Magatsushi and Midoriko, but it was kinda vague.]]
*** Kagome confronting Naraku near the end and making the unusually astute guess that [[spoiler: The Shikon no Tama did not grant Naraku's wish]] is really one of the best moments of the series. Naraku states more explicitly [[spoiler: at the moment of his death, that his wish was for Kikyou's love, and the possibility of being with her in the afterlife, which the Shikon no Tama could not give him. Failing this, he instead planned to replace Magatsuhi and Midoriko with himself and Kagome, by wishing to become part of the Shikon no Tama and by using the stolen Meidou to trap Kagome with the Shikon no Tama. (This of course was really the wish of the Shikon no Tama itself.) The (uncertain) implication is that Kagome could not be trapped in the Shikon no Tama unless she made a wish on it, and any wish would do except for the wish for the Shikon no Tama to be destroyed.]]

* TheUntwist: "Goryomaru is Moryomaru?!" ''Honestly, guys?'' Having the same face and names differing by ''one letter'' aren't enough, apparently!
** This was mostly because they had spent the previous chapters confirming that they were almost certain that there was really no logical way for Goryoumaru to be a youkai, as they had originally thought. Also, Goryoumaru had to have been active there for at least a few weeks, while they encountered Moryoumaru only a short while before wandering upon Goryoumaru's disciples.

Kagome and Sesshomaru, see is Type B: Because she is the easiest character pagesfor a girl to relate to, she is paired up with tons of characters while the author projects themselves onto her.
** For his part, Sesshoumaru is Type A: He is the most lusted-after male character, so girls usually pair him with a female character that they can relate to (usually Kagome) and project themselves onto the female as a sort of WishFulfillment fantasy of putting themselves with him.
