** Two of Kevin's deaths in the Plaza Hotel are to get sucked into a vacuum cleaner, or into the dish washing machine. Getting caught by the Concierge or the detective (the man in the gray coat) will also result in them ''strangling'' Kevin — and both can be [[JumpScare encountered unexpectedly]] in other areas of the hotel (the former in an unassuming hotel room, the latter in the Newsroom), where they're likely to get you the first time around.
** Kevin's flight through Central Park. Enemies in this level include rats covered in what looks to be ''blood'', criminals hiding in the bushes who pop out to take a swing at you, a bomb maniac, and a pack of dogs that comes out of nowhere. And Kevin's just a kid, wandering through this place alone at night.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: The game takes off from Kevin being caught by the Concierge and fleeing the hotel, omitting any potential for levels from the first half of the film. It also completely marginalizes the iconic traps of the franchise to a few rooms in the penultimate level. The Game Boy and NES versions also have this same exact problem.
* TooDumbToLive: Probably about the only thing the game gets right, in the penultimate level Marv is so stupid he'll chase Kevin over a blatantly obvious tripwire.

* ThatOneLevel: The Plaza Hotel is the first level, and it's the game's hardest. There are multiple enemies and hazards that will OneHitKill Kevin if he touches them, with one even ready to insta-kill you as soon as you start the stage if you don't ''immediately'' start heading right and another one who [[StalkedByTheBell shows up in short order if you decide to stop moving for just a few seconds.]] It's also the game's longest level by far. Combine this with the fact that Kevin starts with three lives and gets no continues whatsoever will have the player redo the first level over and over again until they finally complete it.

* ItsHardSoItSucks: The game's unforgiving difficulty is infamous. It doesn't help there are no continues whatsoever.

Renamed one trope.

* ItsTheSameSoItSucks: It's essentially the Game Boy and NES versions with a fresh coat of paint, minor tweaks to the second and third levels, and that's it.

* SoBadItsGood: Between the quirky sound effects, the strange clash with the sprites, and the unintentional comedy, it's very hard to take this game seriously.

* ItsHardSoItSucks: The game's unforgiving difficulty is infamous.
* ItsShortSoItSucks: And once you get the hang of the gameplay, you'll find there's only four levels.
* {{Narm}}: While the Wet Bandits are expositing their plans to Kevin about how they're going to murder him, Kevin has a completely blank expression on his face, as he stares directly at the player. Then (without any change in expression) he extends a hand to pinch a woman's butt and get her to knock out the Bandits. The result is that what was a tense and suspenseful scene in the movie becomes hilarious here, like Kevin is bored and just letting the two yammer before he makes his escape.
