** Servo's "No life after drama club" riff on Daran Norris' emcee in the ''[[Series/MysteryScienceTheater3000 MST3K]]'' version becomes this once you're aware that Norris was the only one in the movie to have a respectable career after being in it.
** The same year the episode came out, Norris starred as a character in the movie ''Star Games'', which got the Podcast/{{Rifftrax}} treatment.
** The "decyphering" of the "Kiss Kicker 99" reveal that the first verse is "Why work for something when you can steal it?". Considering this movie's status as a low grade ''Film/{{Gremlins}}'' ripoff, it's quite appropriate.

* CriticalResearchFailure: That's... not how phone sex lines work. There's more of an interactive element, rather than a lady just describing some cheap porno plot to you. Even for a supposed parody, that's a bit egregious.

* AwesomeMusic: Ridiculously-hard-to-understand lyrics aside, "Kiss Kicker '99" is actually a really respectable example of '80s California punk.

* TheScrappy: Most of the cast, especially Kevin and his circle of friends. Kevin is essentially a Scrappy Hero with his constant mewling and whining. For his loser friends, Daphne and Kyle especially stand out for their Scrappyness.

* SoBadItsGood: Given that it's essentially a 90-minute porn flick with ''no porn'', this is about the best the movie can hope for.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: If you go by [=McCreedy=]'s description, the hobogblins should be much more subtle in their killings. According to him, the victims' deaths were mostly or entirely the fault of their (the victims') selfish goals being innately self-destructive. He even goes so far as to tell Kevin "I still don't know if they thought they were doing good for people or not." The hobgoblins' antics in the film are nothing like he describes. They're very ObviouslyEvil and intentionally twist their victims' fantasies in ludicrous ways with the sole purpose of murdering people. To see them behave as [=McCreedy=] describes would have been difficult to pull off, but also potentially very interesting.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: If you go by [=McCreedy=]'s description, the hobogblins should be much more subtle in their killings. * EarWorm: Although the film is terrible, "Kiss Kicker" (or "[[{{Mondegreen}} Fish Picker]]", according to [[Series/MysteryScienceTheater3000 Mike and the Bots]]) is actually pretty catchy.

*** Well there was a reason. They seem to have provided the background music for the whole movie and in return, The Fontanelles got an uninterrupted portion of the film where they can showcase their best song. In terms of in the film though, it's a club and bands do get to play on stage (before they go sample some tater tots from the lunch ladies in back!)
