Just in a short moment, everyone then started badmouthing Yagi that she failed Sakamoto, while she continued to run while crying, and this resulted Class 1-2 not taking the 1st place despite having Sakamoto with them. It took Sera, with a bit of goading by Sakamoto, to make an even more ridiculous moment that everyone forgot Yagi's failure, but during that time, she just looked so ''pitiful''.

* EpilepticTrees: Sakamoto implies he goes to the nurse's office a lot, [[spoiler: and it's implied that his stated reason for leaving at the end isn't entirely truthful.]] This has lead to the popular theory that he's actually dying, which is why he's adopted his 'live life to the fullest, regardless of what anyone thinks' philosophy.
* HeartwarmingInHindsight: Acchan's crush on Sakamoto is not PlayedForLaughs, and his friends [[ShipperOnDeck support him]]. He's not bullied for it, and none of the characters insult him due to his attraction to another man. For a comedy that is not treating itself seriously, it treats homosexuality much more respectfully than many serious anime do.
* HoYay: Sakamoto is a ChickMagnet, but he also has moments of this with [[EvenTheGuysWantHim other male characters]].
** Atsushi keeps a photo of Sakamoto and thinks of using it as his phone wallpaper after his HeelFaceTurn. Then in episode 2 he asks for a smile from him while being flustered the whole time. It's later confirmed right in the text that Acchan has a romantic crush on him. Episode 5 and episode 8 explicitly show him having a crush on Hayabusa as well.
** Sakamoto and Kubota, while they were already close friends, it reached this level in episode 9 when Kubota first met Sakamoto by dropping his band-aid and Sakamoto picking it up and sliding it back on his finger with the whole scene mimicking a marriage proposal. Megumi and her friends nearby commented how their first meeting was "The most romantic of all".
** Sakamoto and Hayabusa spend an entire segment sharing a large coat, none of them seem to mind the lack of personal space. Even when they are walking in the streets alone, they still kept the coat on.
** In the final episode, [[spoiler: when Acchan tearfully asks why Sakamo why he's not letting go of him, why he cares about what happens to him, Sakamoto uncharacteristically gives him a direct answer and tells Acchan that the way he can deal with anything that life throws at him is appealing. Later, Acchan vows to follow Sakamoto to America.]]
* JerkassWoobie: Atsushi towards the end of the series, [[spoiler:where he develops an inferiority complex towards Sakamoto and tries to sabotage his graduation speech because of it. [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone He later realizes what he has been doing]] and [[InelegantBlubbering repeatedly apologizes to him]] after the speech was over. Thankfully he was never punished since Sakamoto played it off as if his attack was staged]].
* MemeticMutation: Sakamoto is sometimes referred to as VideoGame/{{Bayonetta}}'s son, thanks to his dark, stylish appearance, and flamboyant gestures. He's even got short hair, glasses, and a mole on the right side of his face.
* SignatureScene: The scene were Sakamoto sits down without a chair after Sera yanks it out is possibly the most memorable scene out of the whole series.
* TearJerker: The last chapter/episode. [[spoiler:Sakamoto is leaving Gakuban High school to go travel overseas, everyone he has ever befriended started shouting goodbye to him tearfully from their classroom window, saying how they'll never forget him and Atsushi promises to study harder so he can meet him again someday]].
** In the previous three chapter arc, Atsushi's shame over being unable to meet Sakamoto as an equal, a goal that's implied to be at least partly motivated by his crush on Sakamoto, [[spoiler: being twisted by Fukase into a desire to attack Sakamoto, is pretty genuinely upsetting, especially when Atsushi snaps out of Fukase's brainwashing and breaks down.]] There isn't much about this subplot that's played for laughs.
** The implications of the [[EpilepticTrees theory listed above]] retroactively makes the very premise of the story pretty poignant.
* VisualEffectsOfAwesome: There is a scene in the episode where Sakamoto and the kids are walking on the white line where it's zoomed out. And even from a distance it looks like their legs are moving in and out in circular movements giving a cool 3D like effect even from a distance.
* TheWoobie: Kubota, he often gets bullied and overall has poor self-esteem prior to meeting Sakamoto, and [[spoiler:after Sakamoto leaves Gakuban High school, he has lost his first and possibly only friend]].
* {{Woolseyism}}: One Chinese fan scanlation had all the dialogue in the manga translated as pretentious PurpleProse. It actually helped to turn Sakamoto into even more of a ParodySue [[UpToEleven than before]]!
