* JerksAreWorseThanVillains: While [[spoiler:Tesla and Govern]] are the villains, Reona is arguably worse than them. She's forcing Hiro to play a game that is supposedly impossible to beat, with said game able to cause agonizing pain to the player and where dying in-game will result in the destruction of the player's console. Why? [[spoiler:Because she wants to spite Kamui for not being interested in her huge breasts, something she took ''way'' too personally]]. She also [[LackOfEmpathy doesn't care about the hell she's putting Hiro through]], and to top it all off, [[spoiler:Hiro's not the first person she's manipulated in her attempts to get revenge]].

* {{Glurge}}: A series specifically created to mock the StockLightNovelHero archetype, it comes off as incredibly mean-spirited. Its means of trying to get Hiro to overcome his issues and leave his {{NEET}} lifestyle is to put him through humiliating moments one after another and be forced to put up with people who treat him with disdain. Even after he finds a means to fight, he still gets completely trounced by characters with more combat experience than him. It eventually comes to a head as the anime adaptation ends with him [[spoiler:accomplishing absolutely nothing and the villains' [[TheBadGuyWins complete victory]]]]. If anything, all this really does is make you be glad that characters like [[Literature/SwordArtOnline Kirito]] exist in the first place.

"What an Idiot!" is now Flame Bait.

* WhatAnIdiot:
** When Hiro first logs in and gets told that he has to go to, he asks his (in-game) ChildhoodFriends how to get there, only for them to panic and explain that it is forbidden to exit Ted due to all the monsters roaming outside, and proceed to plead with him to simply forget about it and help them pick apples, which is presumably part of the tutorial quest:\\
'''You'd Expect:''' That Hiro would realize that the tutorial quest must be mandatory and go along with it. After all, there's bound to be naturally occurring circumstances in the story that will eventually allow or force him to leave the safety of the city.\\
'''Or At Least:''' Play along until he can meet up with Reona, who can tell him exactly what he needs to do.\\
'''Instead:''' He stubbornly insists on trying to do his own thing and leave the city, causing him to lash out when his (in-game) BestFriend tries to stop him out of concern for his safety.\\
'''As A Result:''' He [[spoiler:[[AccidentalMurder ends up killing him]] and not only becomes a wanted criminal but his (in-game) {{childhood friend|Romance}} LoveInterest goes AxCrazy and swears bloody vengeance on him.]]\\
'''Additional Stupidity:''' Hiro ''constantly'' uses "but this is a game" or some other such excuse when making dumb decisions, ''well'' after the game's UnexpectedlyRealisticGameplay has been established. For example, being surprised that townsfolk don't want to simply talk to him during a goblin siege.

Knife Nut is no longer a trope

* JustHereForGodzilla: Among all the cast, [[spoiler:Alicia]] stands out for receiving approval from most fans due to her being an AxCrazy, KnifeNut {{Yandere}} who wants to kill Hiro for [[spoiler:accidentally murdering her brother.]] Some have even claimed they continued to watch the series purely due to [[spoiler:her]].

* TheScrappy: Reona drew the ire of a lot of fans for her {{Jerkass}} moments, constant LackOfEmpathy and her refusal to stop making piss jokes at Hiro's expense. Others also took issue with her essentially scamming Hiro then refusing to refund him and using HoneyTrap tactics to keep him playing a game that's clearly not doing him any favors. [[spoiler:And then there's finally her reason for wanting Hiro to beat the game: she simply wants to spite Kamui because he said he wasn't interested in her due to her colossal breasts. Worse still, Hiro's ''not the first person she's baited into playing the game for the purpose of her revenge''.]]

I forgot to list a reason, but I personally haven't seen a lot of talk about the dub, and I've seen a mixture of reactions when I do see it. So I'm deleting the "Superlative Dubbing" line for now.
