However, because of their appearences being so different back in the day and not asking for each other's name, [[ForgottenFirstMeeting neither of them recognized the other]] when meeting again almost one decade later.

On a similar note, Lemmy saying that he wants to go to his bedroom [[ThatCameOutWrong to play with balls]] in the "Pilot" episode of the series, and Wendy stating that [[NoodleIncident he once got his tongue stuck in the mouth of a snowman]] in "Morton Koopa Sr." become even funnier after the reveal of him being a homosexual.
** In the very first episode of ''Carl'', Miss Bishop introduces herself and states that she will be the homeroom teacher for the rest of the students' school lifes. This becomes rather funny given that three seasons later, she was PutOnABus after [=FreezeFlame22=] both lost interest in the character and was unnable to find a voice actress that could do a posh british accent at the time, with Carl even [[LampshadeHanging lampshading]] how they will never see her again.
** In "The School Trip" after Steelix finally arrives with the bus in order to take everyone to Desert Hills, Staffordshire complains that she has been waiting for so long that she feels like a ''Franchise/{{Metroid}}'' fan [[SequelGap waiting for a new announcement]]. One year and three months later, ''VideoGame/MetroidDread'' was announced at E3 2021.
** In "Parents Evening", which released in May 2020, Logan comments that Music/KanyeWest should be president. Two months later, West's campaign as a third-party candidate for president of the United States in the 2020 election materialized. * HollywoodHomely: Mary-Lynn and her sisters are said to be rather ugly by the other students in ''Carl'', but the only real negative (physical) trait they have are their big foreheads. According to WordOfGod, Mary-Lynn and her sisters are not meant to be ugly, but rather average-looking, and the comments about them being ugly are just "teens being teens", as otherwise no teenage boy would even consider making out with the Hatchin sisters.

** Ever wondered why Dry Bones is so blunt when it comes to talking to his friends and is always lying about being rich when he obviously isn't? His home life is awful; it consists of him, his emotionally and verbally abusive father, and his misanthropist grandfather. Heck, Dry Bones is the only decent guy ''out of his whole family'', as they all have a deep hatred for each other.
** Sure, Ludwig is smug and self-centered, but you can't help but feel bad for the guy, having his would-be position as the king taken away by a [[TroublingUnchildlikeBehaviour sociopathic little kid]], who to add more insult to injury constantly rubs it in his face, and being, for a lack of a better word, SurroundedByIdiots at every moment.
** K. Rool is cynic and bitter because of the horrible treatment he received, and still gets, from his family. His father constantly favours his older brother Kennedy over him, and Kennedy would always find ways to make K. Rool look bad, and his cousin and sister often take him for granted.
** Queen Cynder is an imposing and cruel woman, but it's hard to not feel bad for her. She is stuck in a loveless marriage with King John VI, an incompetent {{Manchild}} [[GirlsHaveCooties who finds girls gross]] and who threw a tantrum when he first saw her because she wasn't blonde, who was abandoned by her lover Blayne the minute Lord Sigmund was imprisoned by Lord Richard, leaving her alone with their bastard son Godwin, who is believed by everyone to be John and Cynder's son. Plus, it's also implied that her father neglected her growing up, as he lied to her about John's personality. Her condescending attitute towards others, and her desire for power [[FreudianExcuse are basically the result of her having had to emotionally suffer so much throughout her life]].
** Calvin tends to harsh towards his children (Mainly Carl.) but given that he had lived under a strained marriage, having a deadbeat father (Who is still a ass in the present.) whose main motives are food and girls, it’s clear to see why he’s like this.
* JerksAreWorseThanVillains: Gooper is a horrendous bully who sees women as objects, Tyson is a power-thirsty psychopath who doesn't care who gets hurt as long as he is able to achieve his goal, Candy psychologically abused DK and almost made him lose his friends and job... [[LoveToHate but the way they are presented makes it difficult for the audience to entirely hate them]]. [[HateSink Hate Sinks]] without further characterization, such as Dominik Bones (who verbally abuses Dry Bones on a daily basis and is the reason why he developed an inferiority complex), and Emily (A FlatCharacter that what little personality she has consists of being a massive asshole) are much more hated by the fanbase.

** Gooper has always being a bully that feels absolutely no sympathy for his victims, but him kidnapping Grace and forcing her to be his date for the school dance while shoving and locking Mary-Lynn inside a closet, plus sending Liam and Bob to tell Carl that he is with Grace in order to drive Carl into a depression made him completely irredeemable to most if not all fans of the series. If that wasn't enough, he later threatens to hit Grace after the latter had tried to embarrass him in front of others.
*** You thought that wasn't bad enough? Well, how about Gooper [[ManipulativeBastard taking advantage of Roxanne's emotional state]] after being stood up by Tucker one too many times in order to make her kiss him '''twice'''? The second time is even worse, as he basically threatens to tell everyone about it and destroy Roxanne's reputation if she doesn't break up with Tucker and starts dating him. Roxanne is then forced to go out with someone who only sees her as an object, and if Emily is anything to go by, some people are starting to see her as a [[ReallyGetsAround desperate slut]] for being "willing" to date Gooper of all people after ending her relationship with Tucker.
** What little personality Emily had consisted of her being a judgemental {{Jerkass}} who badmouths people when they're out of earshot, but then there's her insulting and physically assaulting Kylie, the only one who was actually willing to stand for her, when Kylie confesses to having kissed Tucker at the Christmas party, not because of the cheating itself, but because Kylie, a bisexual woman, kissed a man while having a girlfriend. Emily hurt Kylie both physically and emotionally over a mistake she made.
** Camilla has always been an [[{{Jerkass}} unpleasant]] SpoiledBrat who thinks everyone is beneath her, but no one would expect that she would go as far as to trick Wendy, who considered Camilla a good friend, into gaining a lot of weight so Travis would dump her out of disgust [[GreenEyedMonster in order to date him herself]].
*** If you don’t think that cemented Camilla as being anything but a [[HateSink piece of trash]], then she definitely sank to a new low when she started to pull nasty pranks on Wendy in an attempt to force her to break up with Travis, among which include [[MurderTheHypotenuse putting a venomous snake in the castle's bathroom]] and breaking into Wendy's room, stealing all of her possessions, and ''selling them online''. [[NiceGuy Travis]] is downright disgusted, to the point of outright calling her [[BeyondRedemption a horrible person]] and rendering her chances of dating him non-existent.
** King Johann XVIII, the king of the Bohnenkraut Kingdom is a tyrant who was responsible for the death of Ludwig's biological mother, and he also murdered his first four children while lying to Ludwig that they were stillborn. As if that weren't bad enough, he plans to use the Green Star to power an energy cannon that will kill countless innocents, including women and children, in the Bohnenkraut Kingdom during Chuckola Fest so that he can establish a new empire. And to test out said weapon, he fires it at Karhar City, killing all the inhabitants, including the children.
* MemeticBadass: Roberto. Is not rare for fans to label him as one of the most god-like characters in the franchise.

* MemeticPsychopath: Talia. If someone calls Grace annoying, she will murder them no questions asked.

* OneTrueThreesome: Following the reveal in "Bad Roxanne (2/2)" that Kylie had hidden feelings for Talia, many fans took a likeness of the idea of Dry Bones and Talia letting Kylie into their relationship.
* PlayAlongMeme: In ''Bowser's Koopalings'', with the exception of his three allies no one is capable of remembering Fryguy's name, so fans jokingly say that they don't know who Fryguy is either.

*** Talia is constantly teased by bullies for her metabolism and [[MyBelovedSmother her strict parents have pestered her all her life]], never giving her a break or allowing her to be herself, and even forced her to work at the local Goomburger with [[FatBastard Dedede]] of all people as her boss. All of this has caused Talia to grow up as a shy and insecure girl who [[HatesTheirParent deeply resents her parents]]. She seems to be doing better ever since she embraced the more rebelious side of her, but it really says something when she doesn't seem affected by her mother leaving the kingdom and her father being heartbroken by it in the slightest.
*** Roxanne can't catch a break. She's kind, smart, beautiful, popular... but is also a complete emotional wreck as a result of her failed romantic relationships. She used to date resident [[TheBully bully]] and [[StrawMisogynist misogynist]] Gooper well before he TookALevelInJerkass (or so she believes), and was completely devasted when she found out he was cheating on her. Her second boyfriend Tucker always took her for granted and prefered to spend time goofing off with his friends rather than with her. The last straw came when Tucker [[ForgottenBirthday stood her up on her birthday]] and Gooper took advantage of it to emotionally manipulate Roxanne into kissing him. Gooper then [[{{Blackmail}} blackmailed]] Roxanne into breaking up with Tucker and dating him or else he would tell everyone what happened and ruin her reputation. Then there's her confessing to Blooper that she feels the same things he feels for her, but couldn't start a relationship with him due to Gooper blackmailing her at the time.

He is also constantly annoyed by his other siblings' antics, especially Larry's. Not to mentioned, he's always put into slapstick or some sort of injury, [[TheyKilledKennyAgain even dying from some on occasions.]]
*** Kamek never gets the recognition he deserves for doing his job at the castle, and he is always subjected to some kind of abuse from Bowser, The Koopalings, Bowser Jr., or the other residents of the castle. The same thing also happened with Bowser's father back in the day. No wonder he is such a grump.

Not to mention, his parents clearly favour DK over him. Of course, that's not to say that they ''don't'' love Diddy, but he's always in his brother's shadow. Fortunately, things change for the better for Diddy.
*** Chunky is scared of everything and he is often subjected to some sort of misfortune, although to a lesser extent than Diddy. The poor guy can't catch a break.
*** K. Rool is so cynic of the world around him because his father always favoured his brother Kennedy over him. No matter how hard he tried, no matter how many things he achieved, [[CainAndAbel his brother would always try to make his life miserable]] by doing better than him and gaining their father's approval. Not only that, but ever since he moved to Kongo Island, he has to deal with whatever shenanigans the Kongs have organized, as well as Krusha harrasing them and Klump... being Klump.
*** DK being [[SuperGullible so gullible]] and always trying to look for the positive side of things even when there isn't one lead to him becoming stuck in a toxic relationship with [[BitchInSheepsClothing Candy]], who psychologically abused him, took advantage of him at every opportunity, tried to leech off his hard work whenever she could, almost made him lose his job and friends, and even cheated on him with Krusha of all people. Even after Candy was exposed for who she really is, DK felt like her actions were all his fault for not being there for her. The worst part is that [[TruthInTelevision it is actually an accurate depiction of a toxic relationship]].
*** While things eventually got better for Diddy, they got ''worse'' for Dixie. Turns out she too had feelings for Diddy because he was one of the few boys to not treat her like a trophy, but she was afraid of ruining their friendship and kept quiet about it and rejected his advances. She came to regret her decision when Diddy started dating Kitty, as it hurts her emotionally every time she sees them together, but she does not want to selfishly reck their relationship.

*** Lady Jane Phoenix's husband died in an accident as a result of riding his mustie drunk, leaving her alone with their baby James. Additionally, the egg James was in rendered her sterile when she laid it, so she'll never be able to bear more children. She is told to remarry if she wants to have a source of income, and the law of the time states that she has to give up her son to someone at the service of the crown once she does so. Before her brother-in-law Rodrick steps in and offers to raise James, her only options were with her uncle Sigmund or her cousin Blayne, both unpleasant and self-centered people (the latter even mocked her about her husband's death) and she's afraid of what they might do to him. Things do change for the better for her when she is married off to Lord Korrin Sylver, as he treats her wonderfully and tells her that they'll visit James very often, but the pain of being separated from her only son is still there. Keep in mind, Jane was only fourteen years old when she had James, and her second marriage happened at the age of fifteen.
*** Underneath all of Queen Cynder's cruelty lies a very lonley woman stuck in a loveless marriage to a {{Manchild}} of a king, who has no one but her bastard child to keep her company. It's even shown that she really tried to make the best out of her situation, but the years spent with John eventually drove her bitter and short-tempered.
*** Lady Anna Koopa, a carefree and refined yet kind girl, was really looking forward to her wedding and life as the wife of a duke, [[spoiler:only to be betrayed and kidnapped by said duke, and handed over to Queen Cynder as a hostage, with the Queen treating her as her personal slave.
