* CompleteMonster: El Indio is the classic Mexican Bandito, turned UpToEleven. He obtains a secret from his cellmate, and then kills his cellmate so that he can keep the information for himself. He forces a former member of his gang to listen to his wife and infant child being slaughtered, then forces him into a duel, which he rigs in his own favour. When he discovers that Colonel Mortimer and Monco are bounty hunters, he has them tortured, then sets them free, killing one of his own men and framing them for it; his plan is to have his gang and the bounty hunters kill each other, leaving all the loot for him. When Nino, the one gang member he'd planned to keep around is killed in front of him, El Indio displays absolutely no reaction, and he's ultimately revealed to have killed Mortimer's brother-in-law and raped his sister, driving her to suicide. An AxCrazy drug-addict who leeches off those around him, El Indio shocked audiences at the time, and continues to do so now.

If the trilogy is watched chronological order, (Film/TheGoodTheBadandTheUgly is a prequel.) then Manco's dislike of him makes a lot more sense, because his looks must've reminded him of Angel Eyes.

* CompleteMonster: El Indio has more than earned this trope of being one of the most evil villains of the SpaghettiWestern. Not only was he an AxCrazy drug-addict bandit, his first onscreen evil act is forces one of his victims to watch his family being slaughtered (include a baby), then offers the man a chance for revenge, at first he seems to be somewhat friendly, but this just makes it an even bigger monster, knowing that the guy would have a wrongful death without chance of winning. He betrays his gang, so that he can keep the loot from their robbery for himself and is eventually revealed to have raped Colonel Mortimer's sister, driving her to suicide. He tortures both Mortimer and Monco for kicks, before using them as pawns to massacre his own men, and shows absolutely no remorse when Nino, the one man he'd intended to keep around, is killed in front of him. What makes Indio even worse is the fact that he subjects his victims to a wrongful death, no options and no defense. In fact, nothing justifies his awful crimes, he just seems to be motivated by wanting to hurt or sadism. Of course, this just makes it even more satisfying when Mortimer finally kills him.

* NightmareFuel: El Indio was frightening as hell, and a villain quite unusual in SergioLeone films. The simple fact of his insane laugh in his wanted poster is enough to scare or disturb someone. Worse, in all Sergio Leone films, he's the only villain that's completely incapable of being reasoned with. The following villains, Angel Eyes and Frank are downright sadistic sociopaths, but still can reason with them. That won't work with El Indio. He's just a mentally unstable man who just likes to kill --including his own minions--, period. This is evident in the flashback, he is capable of the most atrocious things for no reason.

* CompleteMonster: El Indio. The classic mexican Bandito, but turned UpToEleven. He's a full-blown heartless, callous bastard. He forces one of his victims to watch his family being slaughtered (include a baby), then offers the man a chance for revenge, but rigs the duel — and continues to rig his duels throughout the film. On top of that, he's an AxCrazy drug-addict, whose connection to reality is tenuous at best. What makes Indio even worse is the fact that subjects its victims to a wrongful death, no options and no defense.

In fact, nothing justifies his awful crimes, he just seems to be motivated by wanting to hurt or sadism, he only cares about himself, and Indio has ultimately gone down in film history as one of the most vicious villains of his era.
* CreepyAwesome: Indio.

* NightmareFuel: El Indio. The simple fact of his insane laugh in his wanted poster is enough to scare or disturb someone.

* NightmareFuel: El Indio.Indio is incredibly frightening. He's a very unusual villain in the Sergio Leone's films. The simple fact of his insane laugh in his wanted poster is enough to scare or disturb someone. In many ways, he's the exact opposite of Angel Eyes, Frank and AFistfulOfDynamite Gunther Reza, while still having utterly no redeeming qualities: where the latter are clear-cut sociopathic or callous demeanor, Indio is animalistically alive in these aspects, if in a spectacularly negative fashion.
