* OneSceneWonder: Debra Kedabra, the girl in the dominatrix outfit at Beverly's party. She pops up to whisk Plummer away and only reappears to whack a couple of other people with her whip, but you sure remember her.
* RewatchBonus: Willoughby's BeYourself speech makes more sense once [[spoiler: it's revealed he's actually thirty. He's speaking from experience]].

* NarmCharm: The guys line dancing in the country bar to "Cotton Eye Joe". They get so into it, it's both hilarious and adorable. The song itself is also a huge EarWorm.

* HoYay: There's plenty of it between the guys. They slap each other's asses plenty of times and Jake is tricked into doing a sit-up onto Brumley's face.

* HoYay: There's plenty of it between the guys. They slap each other's asses plenty of times and Jake is tricked into doing a sit-up onto Brumley's face. Critics have certainly pointed out the homoerotic subtext of the movie, even going as far as to say the movie at times seems like an 80's gay porn without the sex scenes.

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: How much of Finnegan's charmer ways are actually just an act? He is desperate to get laid and tries to be a chameleon instead of just being himself - so does he have secretly low self-esteem that he won't be accepted for who he is?
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: It's to be expected since this is a nostalgic look at 1980, and includes many classic songs from various genres.
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** It was widely agreed by critics that Creator/GlenPowell was the real star of the movie, Finnegan managing to be both funny and actually a decent guy.
** Beverly as well for being a really {{Adorkable}} drama nerd and her memorable ''Literature/AliceInWonderland'' costume.
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: Finn and Dale catching Jake saying goodbye to Beverly at the end. Finn turns out to be a ShipperOnDeck and is clearly very happy that Jake has made a love connection. It also qualifies as a Funny Moment at the same time.
* HilariousInHindsight: Ryan Gurzman (Roper) had played Rio in ''Film/JemAndTheHolograms'', a cartoon set in the 80s but the film adaptation in the present day. ''Jem'' fans now get to see the live action Rio with EightiesHair.

* JustHereForGodzilla: A few ''Series/ScreamQueens2015'' fans tuned in just to see Glen Powell in a starring role.
* NarmCharm: The guys line dancing in the country bar to "Cotton Eye Joe". They get so into it, it's both hilarious and adorable. The song itself is also a huge EarWorm.

* ToughActToFollow: ''Film/DazedAndConfused'' is a cultural phenomenon that put Richard Linklater on the map. This was also his first film after the Oscar winning sensation that was ''{{Film/Boyhood}}''. While well-received by critics, the film made very little money at the Box Office and doesn't seem to have made much impression on the general public yet.
* VanillaProtagonist: In contrast to the more exaggerated characters in the house, Jake is almost quite generic. If he weren't the protagonist, he probably would be very forgetful. His status as TheQuietOne is even a plot point.
