** The Doctor ponders a future in which he retires and everyone assumes he's just a "nice old man". This just might come to be, according to the end of "[[Recap/DoctorWho50thASTheDayOfTheDoctor The Day of the Doctor]]". This is later referenced by the completed 2017 version, when The Doctor delivers the line (and ''only'' that line)... while being played by an 83-year-old Creator/TomBaker!

It's cemented by the revelation at the end of "The Giggle" that the bigenerated Fourteenth Doctor settles down to a quiet life as part of the extended Noble-Temple family, with [[WordOfSaintPaul David Tennant saying]] that Fourteen is permanently retired.

* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: In the 2017 reconstruction, the model shots look like bog-standard effects shots that obviously were completed in 1979 before the strike, right? Wrong. All of those shots were done in 2017, painstakingly using period model styling, [[PracticalEffects practical effects techniques]] and film equipment. [[DoingItForTheArt They went the extra mile to make it look seamless with the 70s footage, when they could have just used CG and called it a day.]]

To quote the page, "Do not link to this on the wiki, please. Not even under the YMMV tab."

* SugarWiki/DevelopmentHeaven: The 2017 version had the new dialogue for the animated sections recorded and the new model shots all made using original [=1970s=] equipment to ensure the newly filmed material looked and sounded as authentic as possible.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: At the very end of the 2017 version, when The Doctor and Romana are discussing The Doctor's desire to retire and just be seen by others as a nice, old man like Professor Chronotis, the final few seconds reveal The Doctor is now being played by an elderly Creator/TomBaker in 2017! Justified because while The Doctor aging significantly doesn't make sense in-universe, it was filmed because it was a VisualGag in the context of their discussion, and because the director and Tom thought it was [[RuleOfCool a cool idea]]. It also raises many EpilepticTrees about a certain curator.

** In season ten of the revived series, the Doctor becomes a university professor just like Chronitis, complete with the TARDIS in his office.

* FashionVictimVillain: Skagra dresses in a spectacularly tasteless disco outfit - a belted white tunic, a sparkly fedora, a glittery silver cape, a v-neck and shiny white high-waisted trousers tucked into silver platform boots - while carrying around a carpetbag. In the university district of Cambridge. In 1979, which is when the disco era had just started its terminal decline. Script notes indicate that he was ''supposed'' to look utterly ridiculous.
