* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: The ending. To the NTH DEGREE. Once revived by Dr. Lamb, Daryl runs home and reuniting with Turtle, the two playfully shove each other. The Richardsons and Foxes all exit the house, Daryl runs into Joyce's arms and hugs her. Everyone then pretty much passes him around from there as the credits start rolling: Andy gets him next, then Howie, then Elaine, then Sherie Lee--with Turtle joining in and then he goes back to the Richardsons. Cue the [[FreezeFrameEnding Freeze Frame]] of the two families as "Somewhere I Belong" is playing throughout the whole scene. Hard not to be hit with a brick full of feels while watching it.

* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: "Somewhere I Belong" performed by the late Teddy Pendergrass is an amazingly deep and powerful ballad and given the ending of the movie? It's no wonder why.

* AcceptableBreaksFromReality: While the plot [[RuleOfCool would be far less interesting without a SR-71]], the entire scene is as far removed from RealLife as Mars is from Earth.
** The security details for the SR-71 during TheEighties were armed guards stationed around the plane 24/7. Anyone not having proper security clearance and getting near the plane would be shot without question. In film, it's parked in an open hangar with no guard from airbase gate to hangar, at all.
** SR-71s took off with very little fuel, as the airframe had to be properly heated and expanded to seal itself, and they were fully fueled in the air.
** SR-71 engines could not be started on the ground without a trained crew and a truck sized starter-cart to spin the engines to speed. D.A.R.Y.L. just hits a button and the engines start.
** The plane was semi-disassembled between flights and it took 28 hours to fully prepare for a flight, during which a large team of trained techs worked non-stop. No batteries were aboard the plane until 4 hours before flight, and no fuel until 20 minutes before flight, with the crew already aboard and cockpits sealed. The engine's silicone-based lubricant was solid at normal temperatures and the engine could not spin up if it were not pre-heated by ground machinery for a few hours.
** During the flight the airspeed indicator shows Mach 2.25, at low altitude above a town. Assuming the plane could hold Mach 2+ so low above ground, the noise would shake the ground and buildings like an earthquake.

Alphabetized and added a new entry.

* OlderThanTheyThink: Beat ''Film/AIArtificialIntelligence'' to the punch by over ten years in having a protagonist who is a robot child struggling with his identity as a human.
* StrawmanHasAPoint: The military, though going way too far in wanting Daryl terminated, is not entirely wrong in being wary of him. See the EmergentHuman entry - when even the people who programmed him have no idea where his emerging personality and emotional responses are coming from, it's definitely time to be careful.

* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: The movie is rated PG, but it was released before the PG-13 rating was introduced. The movie does have some language (including a mention of rape!) that would never get past the censors with just a PG rating, for example.
