* BaseBreakingCharacter: Riley Coyote is either an interesting character with an awesome Quirk who has an endearing friendship with Izuku and raises very valid criticisms about the world ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'' takes place in or he's unlikeable for their [[StoryBreakerPower unfairly overpowered version]] of [[MatterReplicator Momo's Quirk]] [[note]]What also doesn't help is that Riley's Quirk [[CanonDefilement completely contradicts]] how Quirk genetics work in the MHA proper: a child born with a Quirk will usually inherit one of their parents' Quirks or the child's Quirk will be a fusion of their parents' Quirks. Neither of Riley's parents have anything like his [[ImaginationBasedSuperpower "Oobleck"]] Quirk, Riley's father has [[SuperSmoke "Smoke Signals"]] and Riley's mother has a [[LittleBitBeastly "Coyote"]] Mutation Quirk [[BeastMan (which is where Riley gets his appearance from)]].[[/note]] and [[AuthorTract constantly complaining about everyone not doing things the "right" way]] and anyone who disagrees with him is immediately seen as in the wrong at best or outright vilified at worst.

** In Riley's match with [[BeastMan Shishida]], he produces [[DropTheHammer a hammer]] and brings it down on him exclaiming [[Franchise/DragonBall "KA- MAY-HA-MAYYYYY-HAAAAAAAH!"]] In addition to the misspelling, the Kamehameha [[KamehameHadoken has nothing to do with]] hammers (its name translates to "Turtle Destruction Wave"), so the reference doesn't make any sense.

** Aizawa. His threatening to expel the lowest scorer on the Quirk Apprehension Test, as well as having expelled at least one class of students in the past, are canon. That said, the fic goes the extra mile by having Nedzu claim that Aizawa [[SecretlySelfish really wants to seem like a better teacher than he is by only keeping around prodigies]], an accusation that neither Aizawa nor his fellow teachers contest. This is especially glaring once canon revealed (well after that bit was published in the fanfic) that Aizawa has never actually kicked out a class permanently -- the whole "He kicked out everyone last year," thing only lasted a short time before Aizawa himself reinstated them, and he only did it to scare them (although the reveal [[WorseWithContext then went to mention]] that the expulsions still went into the students' permanent records regardless, so Aizawa's capacity for doing this remains in a conflicted territory within the fandom).

* CanonDefilement: Izuku [[AdaptationalJerkass is presented as having more of a superiority complex than he does in canon.]] He criticizes his classmates for not understanding and using their Quirks "correctly". He shows NoSympathy to Shinso and Todoroki when he learns of their situations. He also dismisses several Quirks, such as Aoyama's and Endeavor's, as unimpressive. All this in contrast to the person who admires other people's Quirks (and any other positive traits they have) and never looks down on others he is in canon.

* WhatAnIdiot: Riley is [[AfraidOfHisOwnStrength terrified of accidentally hurting others]], such that if he seriously injures someone (or just believes he has), he is paralyzed with guilt and his Quirk crippled. It doesn't seem to occur to him that being a Pro Hero, more than almost any other possible career, will require him to harm others in the course of his duties. Izuku ends up having to give his team the secret in the first Team Battle in order to force Riley to confront and deal with the issue.

** When Riley decides to prank Kaminari and Mineta for trying to convince the girls in their class to dress up as cheerleaders, Riley instead convinces the male members of their class to dress up in drag as female cheerleaders and even perform a routine. From how the story describes it, they come across as caricatures of drag queens that are used to insult UsefulNotes/{{Transgender}} people and exhibit the [[CampGay negative stereotypes]] of gender-nonconforming people, a fact that is made explicit as the narration describes Riley's intent with this stunt was to "trigger every alternate lifestylist from Tokyo to Okinawa".

* FunnyAneurysmMoment:

* HarsherInHindsight: Riley and the staff of UA call out Aizawa for his habit of expelling whole classes. This is canon. What drives it into harshness is Nezu lecturing Aizawa about all his failings, and pointing out that several of his expelled students have committed suicide. That's harsh... except that canon revealed that the class he expelled wasn't even expelled for ''twenty four hours,'' and it was a way for Aizawa to show the class that actions have consequences.

** When Riley decides to prank Kaminari and Mineta for trying to convince the girls in their class to dress up as cheerleaders, Riley instead convinces the male members of their class to dress up in drag as female cheerleaders and even perform a routine. It never occurred to him that he should probably address this problem before trying to become a hero, a field of work in which he is going to have to do that more often than not.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: Riley giving Bakugo a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech in song and dance form to the tune, of all things, ''Music/GangnamStyle''.

* HilariousInHindsight: Deku and Riley's obsession with being "Blood Brothers" becomes a bit funnier considering that [[spoiler:In ''Anime/MyHeroAcademiaHeroesRising'' Deku (temporarily) gives Bakugo One for All, through cuts in their fingers. A practice that's pretty common in Blood Brother rituals.]]

** Riley and the male students cross-dressing as female cheerleaders is this due to how they come across as offensive stereotypes of {{Transgender}} people.
