* FunnyAneurysmMoment: Anne Kirkbride's exit episode depicts Deirdre Barlow throwing a trifle while declaring that 'Jelly shouldn't run, it should wobble!' This has drawn a few laughs [[MemeticMutation and inspired at least one meme]], but due to fate getting in the way this was one of the last scenes she filmed before her death. In fact, when [[TheCharacterDiedWithHim Deirdre's onscreen death is announced]], it is stated that an aneurysm was the suspected case.

* HarsherInHindsight: Back around Christmastime 2004 while speaking with his soon-to-be ex-wife, Karen, Steve [=McDonald=] spoke about supercouple Jack and Vera Duckworth and how he would bet money that when one of them passes away, [[DiedInYourArmsTonight it will be in the other one's arms.]] A little over three years later, [[spoiler: it didn't happen that way; Vera died alone sitting in Jack's favorite armchair. * AccidentalAesop: Hope's childhood psychopathy storying does ring true in how psychopathy is inherited, the show presents her psychopathy as destined and untreatable since nobody can reach out to her and convince her to stop. The storyline presents the lesson "There's no freedom of choice and you can't control your own destiny if you've inherited a bad card in the game of life. If you're preset to hurt people, you might as well embrace it because you can't change who you are and you can't change or redeem your faults. If you don't want to be a villain or hurt people, too bad because there's no chance for you once you've inherited something beyond your control."

* CaptainObviousReveal: Nina's memory loss after Seb Franklin's murder tried to keep the mystery as to who killed Seb but it's pretty obvious from the start that Corey was the one who killed him. Not only is Corey infamous for being a hateable jackass who bullies everyone, cheats on Asha, and toys with Kelly's feelings of him. The other suspects were extremely unlikely to be the ones who killed him; Corey's gang members were unnamed and had no personality on display, Asha was nowhere near them at the time of the murder, and Kelly was being manipulated by Corey into keeping her mouth shut about it.

I know this is a YMMV page but to say Coronation Street is 'famous for having a feminist narrative' feels like a massive reach to make with no sources or further elaboration.

* By the end of 2021, Kelly Neelan was definitely going that way. Despite having bullied the likes of Asha, Nina, and Seb, and been part of the gang that killed Seb (although she wasn't directly involved in that), we seemed to be supposed to support everything she does, and sympathise with her, as opposed to Abi, who clearly had good reason to hate her.

* AndYouThoughtItWouldFail: Famously the Chairman of Granada felt that the first scripts were good and Harry Elton had to convince him to create the Test Pilot, then the Programme Committee of Granada Television felt the show was a negative joke of the North and that it wouldn't work however Elton had the recording screened for staff of the studio and they filled in Questionnaires of what they liked, then with this only about 13 episodes were planned, there would be a second Test Pilot done then finally it aired on 9th December 1960, Critics still disliked it but the viewers loved it and it's passed the 13 episodes by a bit more now.

* WhatAnIdiot:
** Sarah Platt throughout much of 2015. Even as she knew and witnessed firsthand the hell that Callum Logan was putting David, his family and the rest of the family through, she still thought it was a good idea to date him and let her daughter be around him. Then, as she tries to set him up to go to jail by tricking him into confessing to one of his many crimes, her own nervousness/stupidity caused the plan to be discovered by him, he attacks her and [[FromBadToWorse things only go downhill from there.]] The effects of this decision are still being felt years later (and possibly forever, as [[spoiler: Kylie's now dead [[UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom indirectly because of her]] and she gave birth to Callum's baby after his demise.)]]
** When Martin Platt had been trying to start a relationship with a woman called Robin, she found out he'd been suspended from his nursing job for assault. Martin's only explanation was "he had it coming" and "he messed up Sarah's life". He didn't elaborate that the man he assaulted - Karl - seduced Todd while he was with Sarah and encouraged him to have an affair (while she was pregnant). And not to mention the shock of it all caused her to miscarry.
** Sarah Platt gets this again in 2017 and early 2018. She was obviously disgusted by Bethany's middle-aged boyfriend and didn't say anything to stop it, believing that it would ruin her and Bethany's relationship. If she had said something then Bethany's ordeal could have been resolved earlier. If that wasn't bad enough, when Bethany was fired from being a lapdancer Sarah returned to the club alone and talked to her boss and got Bethany's job back. Sarah knows Bethany is underage and had just gone through a traumatic ordeal, she should have intervened or tried to rebuild their relationship with different methods rather than getting her job back. What ends up happening is that Bethany gets arrested for causing grievous bodily harm to a customer after having a PTSD flashback when his friends tried to force her into giving a lapdance for him.
** In 2015 David Platt has the idea to plant incriminating evidence in Callum Logan's car. However, Andy Carver is caught by Callum and is taken away to be tortured for answers. David didn't call the police when he saw this. It would have been the perfect opportunity to catch him since the police would have caught him the middle of torturing Andy, and David could have just told them that he was trying to figure out what happened to Kylie and to protect Max from a known criminal. The worst that would happen is that David would be arrested for owning drugs and Andy would be severely injured but not dead. Instead, David decides to save Andy himself without calling anyone beforehand.
** In 2019, Simon Barlow barely survives a boat fire and the arsonist is unidentified. While reviewing the factory footage, Carla discovers that Roy had accidentally knocked over a lantern while sleepwalking. Rather than, show the footage to Roy and Peter and explain the fire was just an accident. Carla decides to delete the footage and vows to protect Roy from the authorities. Even though, the authorities are likely to deem the fire an accident as well due to the footage. In other cases, they will analyse Roy's sleep pattern and confirm that his actions were a result of sleepwalking, which would acquit him[[labelnote:*]]in real life cases, there are accounts of ''homicidal sleepwalking'', where people unwittingly commit murder while sleepwalking[[/labelnote]]. Peter would also understand that the fire was just an accident and should know that Roy wouldn't put someone's life at risk like this. Instead, Carla needlessly throws herself under the bus and becomes a suspect.
** Gail Platt and her short-lived relationship with [[ManipulativeBastard Lewis Archer]]. Gail frequently tore into Audrey for repeatedly dating him and taking him back. However, Lewis not only manages to convince Gail to date him but, he also convinces her to leave the country with him. Even Lewis points out how stupid this was in a video confession after taking everything in her bank account and telling everyone how Gail didn't think twice about abandoning them.
** Tim's mother, Elaine, comes back after abandoning him out of fear of Geoff, Yasmeen tries to talk to her about helping in the trial and talking to Tim. Elaine refuses at first but decides to talk to Tim herself so Yasmeen wouldn't twist her words. Elaine just walks up to him at work, dramatically builds up to the reveal that she's Geoff's first wife, how she changed her identity and how she's Tim's mum... and Tim doesn't believe her and kicks her out because he doesn't remember her and because Geoff told him his mum was dead. Elaine should have just explained everything without the theatrics and, more importantly, provided evidence; like a baby photo or a [=DNA=] test, because anyone can walk up to the door and claim to be a parent. Sally and Alya are also of the opinion that Tim should automatically believe her to be his mum, despite the police outright telling them how stupid Tim would have to be to immediately accept a complete stranger to be his long-dead mum. Tim also tells them that they are being inconsiderate of his feelings on the matter, (to him at least) they are trying to drive a wedge between him and his dad for someone who is currently in jail for assaulting him.
** Nick Tilsley and his relationship with Sam Blakeman, who he just discovered to be his son. Nick's girlfriend, Leann Battersby, has just lost her infant son and is clearly having a tough time grieving. Sam turns up during the funeral to read a poem to "his brother" on the day and Leanne is clearly not comfortable with how things are turning out. You would expect Nick to simply explain to Sam that they can spend time together on another day because Leanne is dealing with something that Sam is too young to understand and Leanne's not in the best mindset to deal with all of this at once. Instead, Nick lets Sam stay and when Leanne catches Sam playing with one of Oliver's toys, she breaks down and gets infuriated with him for trying to replace Oliver. Sam didn't do it on purpose, it was just the straw that broke the camel's back.
** Max Turner sees Summer Spellman and Daniel Osbourne together after school and sees Summer's diary, which consists of love confessions towards Daniel since she has a major crush on him and he blurred the lines of their relationship through home tutoring. Believing that the two are in a relationship, Max gathers evidence by recording Daniel taking Summer home and he uses Summer's diary as evidence but rather than take it to the police or show it to the headteacher in private, Max embarrasses himself by interrupting a party to expose the relationship and he then tries to attack Daniel in a fit of anger and envy. Well-intentioned or not, Max still assaulted a teacher, got the police involved by framing Daniel as a paedophile, and caused enough trouble to warrant expulsion.

** Zeedan Nazir in the Rana-Zeedan-Kate love triangle story. Zeedan's actions were portrayed as villainous and homophobic, such as; Accepting the bribe from Rana's father to keep the marriage going, outing Rana for having an affair in front of her parents and trying to sabotage Kate and Rana's relationship. Can you really blame him for this? They had an affair, Rana lied to him by agreeing to start a family with him and he was betrayed by a close friend and co-worker. He was also expected to forgive them by his grandmother Yasmeen. Granted, his actions were disproportionate but they still crossed the line first.

** Kelly Neelan during the Seb murder plot, while receiving a life sentence after being used as a scapegoat by her friends is somewhat disproportionate. She still played a huge part in Seb's murder and Nina's assault; she fought Nina at the party (assault), followed them home while yelling insults (harassment), and did nothing to alert the authorities until she was caught (obstruction of justice or withholding evidence). The series tried to retcon her role in the story by saying she was the only one in Corey's gang who felt guilty, trying to stop Corey from kicking Seb while he was unconcious, and the series even introduced an abusive mother to further drive in some pity for Kelly (without mentioning her father, Rick Neelan). Tragic or not, it doesn't really excuse the fact that Seb's dead because of Kelly and she refused to help in the investigation.

** Leanne Battersby during and after the loss of Oliver. At first her immense grief and denial was completely understandable, but she soon began to lash out at anyone who dared even suggest that his life-support be turned off, in spite of how hopeless the situation is to the point that the poor boy had multiple organ failure. Then at the memorial service, she lashes out at Sam, a ''ten-year-old boy'', just because he wanted to lend condolences and referred to him as his brother, and continues to both shun him and put Nick in a position of forcing him to choose between the two of them. When she starts believing that Oliver is trying to communicate with her, she slaps Simon for pointing out the obvious and unwittingly ''forces him'' be the provider since she wasn't getting bereavement therapy or getting support for Simon.

Then in October 2021 a big week worth of episodes dubbed "Horronation Street" seemed to imply he will get his comeuppance after Seb's mother Abi confronted him with a gun. But thanks to a lot of ridiculous coincidences Corey is yet again getting off scot-free and his downfall being pushed back further.

In her earliest appearances (when she only made the occasional appearance as one of the factory girls) her surname was Tyldesley and she said she had a husband called Arthur. As time passed Arthur was briefly renamed Wilf, and then renamed ''again'' and became Jack, who actually made two appearances on the show with it being stated the pair were childless despite trying. Several years after her introduction, the producers made the decision to move Ivy onto the street and completely rewrote her backstory. Jack was retconned out of existence and replaced with Bert, and Ivy gained a 20-year old son in the form of Brian.

Cutting all because cleanup thread said so

* WereStillRelevantDammit: The show likes to put "modern" terms in the episode but it doesn't [[CringeComedy look or sound normal]].
** Carla and Toyah used a hashtag in a conversation. For example, Carla said "Hashtag relationship goals" after walking past a bemused Peter and Toyah.
** The show uses [[SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute substitutes]] when talking about modern subjects. Maria met Michele's ex, Will Chatterton, in a Tinder-esque app. Then, Ryan and Alex were looking for Ryan's cryptocurrency "whipcoin".
** One of the worst examples was an app developer who briefly appeared in 2019 who, for some bizarre reason, spoke only in [[MemeticMutation internet memes]], especially ones that hadn't been popular for a number of years.
** The comic relief plot with Maria Connor had her use the phrase "Netflix and chill" on a dating app and receiving applicants who were too embarrassing and outright awkward to be funny or realistic. Applicants ranging from a man whose mother crashed the date, a man who kept talking about multiple women who died after dating him, and a man telling her on their first date that he's a furry who enjoys acting like a dog.
** A 2021 episode has Aadi respond to the news that his sister is dating a girl with nonchalance, followed by a well-intentioned but awkward exchange where he uses non-binary while talking about impressing women.
---> '''Aadi:''' Get cake. Lots of cake. Gay, straight, non-binary...the ladies love cake.

That's what it was all about? He's angry because he didn't have a family of his own?

Added DiffLines:

** Nick Tilsley never really suffers in the story and always finds a way to suffer a less than severe punishment. When he sleeps with his half-brother's wife, he isn't punished by the family and David gets kicked out of the house for allegedly trying to kill his better-received brother. When Oliver is put on life support, Nick suddenly discovers he has a child of his own that he never knew he had. Even when he convinces David to help him with a money-laundering scheme, David gets a longer prison sentence than him and Nick admits that he was only envious of David for having a family while Nick didn't.

* TastesLikeDiabetes: Due to the increase in darker storylines, the show attempted to balance out the darker moments with {{cringe comedy}} or overly sappy moments. A few examples include Sinead's death (talking about how happy she was when she first met Daniel despite dating Chesney at the time and going as far as to forgive Daniel kissing Bethany Platt before dying of cervical cancer), Asha and Nina acting like they've been in love for years despite the relationship only being a week old (even then it takes place ''after'' Asha had left her jerk of a boyfriend named Corey), and Leanne chasing feathers under the belief that Oliver was communicating with her from the afterlife.
