* CryForTheDevil: Tucker Wells summons a bunch of demons to attack the high school senior prom. Buffy, determined to allow her friends one unspoiled moment in high school, corners him and angrily demands to know why someone would want to destroy "the happiest night of the year". The culprit sneers that he has his reasons -- and we're treated to a brief flashback of him shyly and politely asking a girl to go to the prom with him, only for the girl to cruelly reject him. This is played entirely for laughs.

* HarsherInHindsight: The villain turns out to be a teenager planning an attack on his school. Not only did this air the year UsefulNotes/Columbine happened, but in three seasons' time, three such characters (including said boy's brother) will cause trouble for Buffy.

* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: Buffy's big prom moment is easily one of the great feel-good moments of the series.
-->Giles: You did good work tonight, Buffy.
-->Buffy: *holding up Class Protector award* And I got a little toy surprise!
-->Giles: *chuckling* I had no idea children, en masse, could be...gracious.
-->Buffy: Every now and then, people surprise you.
-->Giles: ...Every now and then. *takes Class Protector award and nods for Buffy to turn around*
-->Buffy: *turns around and sees Angel has arrived, wearing a tuxedo*
* TearJerker: Angel knows he's right. We all know he's right. But that doesn't make the big breakup scene with Buffy any less agonizing to watch.

** The scene can
easily one be read as a parody of many scenes earlier in the great feel-good moments of the series.

* TearJerker: Angel knows he's right. We all know he's right. But
series that doesn't make were legitimately this trope (like the big breakup scene poor kid in "Lie to Me") - we're set up to expect some deeply scarring, tragic scene, and what we get is fifteen seconds of, "Hey, want to go to the prom with Buffy any less agonizing to watch.me?" "Nope."

* DevelopmentGag: Cordelia tells Wesley he'd look "way 007 in a tux". The shooting script for "Bad Girls" describes Wesley as "thinks he's SeanConnery but he's pretty much George Lazenby."
** HilariousInHindsight given how Alexis Denisof lost out to Daniel Craig to play the newest Bond. That's okay, he got to play Craig!Bond when he followed Angel to LA.
