** While fans debated over its replacement of ''Chip 'n Dale'', the franchise's own [[WesternAnimation/ChipNDaleRescueRangers2022 2022 movie]] features another toon who got kicked off his big project and went into crime prevention--[[spoiler:''Ugly Sonic'', the initial design for ''WesternAnimation/SonicTheHedgehog2020's'' titular character]].

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Lucky Piquel. An {{Expy}} of [[Film/WhoFramedRogerRabbit Eddie Valiant]], he seems notoriously, for a Disney cartoon, bigoted against [[{{Toontown}} Toons]]. Fandom can't decide if he's a NobleBigot, a StraightMan, or just an exasperated cop working a particularly annoying beat; imagine having to work security at a FanConvention filled with particularly dedicated cosplayers who never break character. Regularly. Now imagine they can actually ''do'' the crazy stuff their characters do. He has to deal with the RuleOfFunny regularly overriding the laws of physics, getting his car and possessions trashed, being personally humiliated and sometimes even ''[[AmusingInjuries hurt]]'' by Toons. And despite this, he keeps showing up for work and actually enjoys himself on occasion - once when he and Bonkers are chasing a suspect through ToonTown, they come to the intersection of Squash and Stretch Streets; he's actually sort of amused by the contortions Bonkers pulls off under their influence. Slightly less so when it turns out to have a similar (but fortunately less extreme) effect on humans.
** The last interpretation is backed up by the fact that Lucky doesn't ''want'' to be in the Toon Division, but his attempts to communicate this and get transferred or promoted are completely lost on Chief Kanifky, a PointyHairedBoss of the highest order.

** The show itself. Was it an underrated classic that never got its due and respect, or was it a poor replacement for ''Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers''?
* CommonKnowledge: A belief that keeps spreading around is that the show started life as a Roger Rabbit spinoff, but legal issues made it never see the light of day, and ''Bonkers'' is simply a retool of that idea. ** Grumbles Grizzly comes across as a grumpy neighbour, the fact he's voiced by Rodger Bumpass reminds us of [[WesternAnimation/SpongebobSquarepants his most well known role as a grumpy neighbour]]
* NightmareFuel: The Collector was pretty scary to begin with, and that's to say nothing of the [[AndIMustScream laminated toons]] crying.

** Also, Z-bot from Tokyo Bonkers. Really ugly and nasty brain monster.

* ViewerGenderConfusion: Alto, voiced by Creator/CreeSummer, is a young, male, toon saxophone... that has facial hair... and is still confused as being a girl, by some fans.
** The GenderBlenderName might have something to do with it; an alto is a ''female'' singer with a low voice.
* TheWoobie: Jitters.

And despite this, he keeps showing up for work and actually enjoys himself on occasion - Once when he and Bonkers were chasing a suspect through ToonTown, they come to the intersection of Squash and Stretch Streets; he's actually sort of amused by the contortions Bonkers pulls off under their influence. Slightly less so when it turns out to have a similar (but fortunately less extreme) effect on humans.
